As a recently retired Dentist, I congratulate you on being able to pursue your homestead, RUclips and personal interests. I'm happy to know a regular supply of videos will be coming... because I've started all four of my granddaughters (2,3,4,5) watching. They love the animals, your interesting and funny commentary, and seeing Gina and Olivia interact. May God's abundant blessings continue to abound to you and your family!! ps: was grateful for my day job, but enjoy my grandkids, daily projects and free time now.

Congratulation on becoming a farmer. Took me and my wife 12 years to be able to say we're full time farmers. A few bit of advice. Do your research on what your local market will bear. People thinks that eggs are a natural income, but if you have 8 other farms supplying eggs it doesn't make sense to expand your egg production. Talk to the restaurants near you, don't just rely on farmer markets or customer list.
For us, our money generators is eggs, tomatoes, garlic, walnut and honey. Our eggs alone paid for 60% of our expenses. We grow and can San Marzano Plum tomatoes. We have dedicate each summer 2 acres on their production. Those two crops paid for everything. The rest is just gravy.
Plant your fruit and nut trees now, wish I would have done that 12 years ago. But the advise I had wished someone would have told us when we started this farm (beside planting fruit/nuts trees) is that you can't do it on your own, get some help. Someone who can come one day a week to help around the farm. Train t hem to a point where they can manage the farm if you have to get away whether for a emergency or a vacation.

I agree about the eggs. In our area, there are massive organic (and non organic) chicken farms as well as Amish farms and a lot of hobby farms. Eggs are so cheap that selling eggs is not an option. You really need to find a niche crop for your specific area like you said.

That's all good farm/business advice but I think he was referring to the YT income replacing enough regular income with the farm cost reduction (and slight farm income) taken into account. So there are a few more factors here. Haven't watched the whole thing yet...but that's my guess. 132K subs now 1.5 years later...youtube works in mysterious ways. Still no pond though...excavator job #1

Good morning Al. Good to hear that you were able to give your notice and stay on the farmstead. I can see that you are a talented carpenter, who could pick up work if need be. Our neighbor will be helping us build a small bunny barn at some point and other odd carpentry jobs. Our new house isn't quite finished...We only got a half inch of rain in central NH and need more. Being relaxed and zoned into your home projects is a good thing. Zen & the Art of Modern Homesteading.

You will be able to get so much done being at home. I'm the one who is at home and looks after the farm. My husband is a truck driver and we really only have Saturday to work on big projects with him. I'm very fortunate to be able to stay at home and do this because otherwise I don't think we could manage to keep up with all the work and full time jobs, especially in the summer.

If you touch the tentacles that arent attached it takes a sec but they move. They move pretty quickly, cucumbers make really good examples tp children because they move and respond quicker than a lot of plants. They make a good reminder that plants are alive.

Lumnah Acres They will before you know it. Mine love cookies and apples and carrots and horse treats. I generally wear an uncool fanny pack when I am working outside so I can keep my phone near and not set it down and forget it. Got in the habit of keeping some dog, goat and horse treats in one of the pockets. Now they all come running when I go out but they may get a treat or just a scratch and rub. Everyonebut the horse free ranges but the goats never go far out of the yard. If one of the dogs bark the run back into their yard until the dogs Kay back down giving them the all clear.

I'm so happy for y'all! Love your videos. We built your chicken tractor and adapted it for layers. It's working great and much lighter than our previous one.

Whew! I thought you were going to be signing off from RUclips! That's so great that your going to go full time on Lumnah Acres, I would like to be one of the first to congratulate you on your success at building your empire and wish you continued success in all your amazin' endeavors. As always it will be great fun and totally enjoyable to learn from the projects you take on. As for me seeing you do what I would love to be doing will be very rewarding. As it is I've learned and implemented so many things I've learned from your RUclips channel. Thanks for sharing all that you do Al, your a really great guy with a really great family.

Willow's reaction was TOO funny!! LOL Shocked to see the kids staying out in the rain. I guess they hadn't read that chapter in "How To Be A Good Goat" manual yet. 😜
