- Victims’ families get their final say in court prior to the sentencing of the Parkland school shooter. The statements follow a nearly three-month trial, after which a jury of seven men and five women could not unanimously agree on the death penalty for the convicted killer, resulting in a life sentence.
I find it beyond disturbing that so many of us are watching this and touched to our core while this sociopath sits here completely without remorse or guilt. He doesn't even blink. I watch his chest breathing and there's no change. As the rest of the world sympathizes and worries about all the peoples futures he impacted he looks like he's wondering what's for dinner or what's on television tonight. The one father was right. You can't fix evil.
when D.O.C. picks him up at 4 in the morning (Probably this week) he will start to breath much differently TRUST ME HE WILL SUFFER....WHEN HE GOES TO RECEPTION IT WILL BE A BIG WAKE UP CALL TO HIM
I feel in his mind these survivor statements make him feel important.
If he cried you'd say he was faking it. There is no reaction he could give to satisfy your judgment. You didn't care about the kid before the shooting and you don't care about the victims now.
I feel in cases like this the killer shouldn't be in the room with the victims while they speak or testify. They are literally feeding him. You see someone who feels nothing. I see someone who is actually getting what he wanted. They even used it as evidence multiple times that he wanted the families of his victims to suffer. The dude literally gets off the death penalty and also for like 4 years or however long this trial has been going, gets a dopamine kick from their emotions.

She's describing survivors guilt and PTSD which takes a long time to recognize and heal from. Therapy will of course help and all the families and people who were students at the school need to be given this help ASAP.
This woman is a perfect example of the damage being far worse than a given number of deaths. She’s still alive but suffers deeply from ptsd and survival’s guilt.
A teacher has NO BUSINESS doing this. Especially when teachers at that school are part of the blame. This kid should've been identified by the teachers at that school instead of ignored and pushed through.

I love that the Judge acknowledged her. Being seen is life changing. Praying for her continued strength during the moments when she will need it most.

She was my literature teacher in 9th grade back in 2007. My favorite teacher who I always thought about throughout the years. She was so inspiring, reminded me of Michelle Pfeiffer from Dangerous Minds. Shocked to see her now apart of this.

When she said I have fears - this monster’s eyes perked up suggesting to that made him happy. I think he loves hearing the torment, grief, anguish, etc... he’s put these poor people through. But it’s good they get the opportunity to confront this disgusting monster.
I think so too! She did great, but I cringed during it because he LOVES hearing how much he hurt them. He admitted he loves to see the families in pain. I couldn’t give the statement she did cause I wouldn’t want him to have that satisfaction. He’s such a monster.

Talk about holding it together while falling apart. What a moving statement . . . I was in tears by the end. Her final comment dug right into my soul, and she was 1000% justified in saying it. It’s appalling that this perversion of a human being - this abomination - gets to continue breathing.

Not only do I check where all exits are, I also analyze the room of who and how many have entered a room, where they sit, when they make any unnatural or sudden movements or otherwise

It’s so difficult to hear these final statements. The only thing I can do is try to honor the victims and families by listening and praying for their peace. If at all possible. I’m so very sorry justice was not done in this case.

You can see the change in him. With the jury there he was withdrawn & plugging his ears. He seemed remorseful. Now that he doesn’t need to make an impact to the jury he is very alert. To me he seems to enjoy the attention he is getting as they speak to him & about him. He played the part to get what he wanted. It’s scary that a person like that exists. Now, that it's been decided that he won't be put to death he's sitting upright, is alert, is staring directly at the survivors who are giving their victim impact statements. *Where'd the "poor me", "I'm a victim" "crazy" act go?* It was all an act folks, the entire charade was an act by this cruel and evil mass murderer, one of the worst and most evil mass murderers in U.S. history got a few people to start feeling sorry for him and an activist juror to side in favor of him because of a simple little act he put on during the trial. I truly hope over time she finds some healing from her PTSD. That’s a lot of deep seeded anger (righteous anger, but anger nonetheless) to hang onto and will only cause her more damage. Obviously he’s completely unaffected by it.

My son died 5years ago of cancer aged 17, when he was dieing I layer with him holding him and singing his favourite songs but for my child to die this way, I don't know how these parents go on, I so glad they get to tell him how they feel, but I believe he is sick no evil, what happen to him as a child that made him do this, and why so many times in America? Every person sitting in the defenses corner should hang their head in shame. They succeeded in getting a murderer free from death when the murderer so callously sentenced those victims to immediate death. Sickening.

I am not sure what could have possibly been discussed to where they were deadlocked on sentencing. He killed 17 people and wounded 17 more. This is a waste of resources keeping him alive for a crime that he certainly committed. It is not even like this is a case where there is doubt.

Unfortunately he wants others to feel his aweful painful soul and so he thrives that he made her this new broken person. What makes these sickos hurt is actually saying they don’t matter and what they did didn’t change them. I’m just saying this speech isn’t doing anything to him. He actually is glad she said this. It means he wins. I know she needed to say this to him. I’m just saying this is the outcome he wanted. To be thot of as powerful and the be the nightmare in everyone’s heads.
