I want that shirt JOSH!
Lol
First you must 3D print an AC-130 with a fireworks cannon
lol! Me too Peter!
ITS THE SRIPOLPEPOL
hello peter. The way you get your fire works is actually the store i go too to get mine.
If i may say so it would be cool if you guys made an sr71 that has a camera on the bottom so you can actually use it to play hide and seek
Yes
Yes
Sick
Yes it doesnt have to be sr71 it could also be an u2
_SWE_Falcon1 yeah but the sr71 would be easier to fly
I'd like to see 3D printed fuselages with foamboard wings, that to me makes a lot of sense.
It'd need some shaped structure to spread the loading, from the super thin 3D section on to the softer foam. If the 3D body weighs the same or less then foam, the extra space inside for equipment, and the option of printing in cooling ducts for the electronics, would certainly be an advantage, and then the ease of cutting or folding a replacement wing from foam out in the field to keep flying on a nice day.
How about a hybrid 3D printed skeleton structure covered with thin foam board?
You should build a giant SR 71 blackbird
I could try to make some plans for it and post them on flite test forums
That would be so cool.
People gonna call 911 to report UFO
Ok that would be sick
YES!!
Ok guys i love my 3d printers and ive been 3d printing parts for my foam board planes for years now so we need to get on this 3d printing the entire plane thing!!!! Much love to the whole Flite Test family today!!!!!!
How about a me 262? I think it would be interesting
There's one aspect where 3D printing doesn't "sit between foam board and balsa" and that is geometry. With 3D printing complex shapes don't mean more work, sometimes even the opposite. Round, aerodynamic shapes can be tricky to build with both foam board or balsa wood but with 3D printing it is just as easy to make as a cylinder with two wings. Also, you can make all the hatches, servo mounts etc. in the design phase so the parts come out of the printer with everything already in place. #letnoahfly4s
About time for another 3d printed plane!!👍👍
He was doomed on the landing. Drone video shows the nose gear turned while it was still in the air. Probably from dad's rough take off lol.
I just watched the video and caught the front gear turned sideways in the front footage as well. I tried to rationalize it thinking maybe it was being used like a rudder....lol
Remember Josh said that the nose turned with the rudder. Maybe not dunno?
@@walkman1269 no, he said the rudder control input only makes the nosewheel turn as there is no rudder.
How on earth have I watched videos about airplanes for years and not seen this channel?.. Great work guys... Very kool!!
When is flite test gonna make their airplane STL files available for download? Maybe we could see a 3D printed bixler....that would be awesome.
Dig the Grunt Style shirt! You HAVE to do two Model Ts full contact combat! Have Spare airframes printed out, and see how long it takes to rebuild.
That's so cool!
Oh hey Bill, love you've been recommending FT on TMS recently, rc and fpv freestyle is awesome!
Brilliant gents... and again, hats off to the WhOOP fpv PILOT. He does an amazing job tracking everything 👍👍👍
I built this this summer with LW-PLA which is amazing stuff. It's like paper but with rigidity of plastic.
There is a Model D that can be imported into RealFlight simulator that works great.
Eclipson is designing really beautiful planes. It wasn't mentioned in the video, but the light weight PLA (LW-PLA) is developed and manufactured by colorFabb.
Love the T-tail and winglets. Sweet flier.
WOW THE WAY YOU FOLLOWED THAT LOOP WITH PLANE IN VIEW THE WHOLE TIME !!!
With that T-tail, it looks like a Piper Tomahawk. Gorgeous!
It will be interesting to have a hybrid of 3D for structure with foam board to cover the area. This would create a very strong but light plane.
Sweeeet flying with the four cell. Great video guys!
Normal cheap glue sets off super quick with baking soda as a "kicker" or catalyst
There is the Future ! ...... 3d Printed Planes with Unlimited Design Options and Interchangeable Power Modules ....... Great Video and Flying !
Congrats Noah! You're doing great!
dads of the world, observe Josh and learn.
#letnoahflythe4cell
Well said. This family is sterling.
Really exciting. 2 great hobbies, Rc planes and 3D printing. Printed detail parts (spinners, cowl, etc) would be awesome for your foam warbirds. Thanks flight test -keep at it!
I'd like you to build fly and explain the Prandtl wing, and if your up for a filming challenge use the misty mornings on the course to show the effects.
You guys should make a Aou Jun from war robots
Josh thats a great shirt you had in opening scenes! Great to know you guys are pro 2a and support our military 👏 keep up the great work!
I love the four cell Sound!
They should totally make a carrier that actually slingshots the planes
We would love a 3d printed aerobatic plane competition!!
Great shirt Josh!
I’m glad you revisited the 3D printing!!!
That's really nice you should definitely scale this plane up and print it much bigger
i would love a starter series! how to start flying. i have some gear but not that much. what should i start with?
I thought that a 3D plane would look ugly.... boy was I wrong, it’s beautiful!!😍🥰😘❤️
It's much easier to build organic shapes than with wood/foam. I'm still a bit worried about durability though, but I've never touched or flown a 3D printed airplane so I might very well be wrong.
think it really comes down to a good design, good design methodology and care when sectioning to get good fit ups when assembling....
You guys have read my mind. I have been researching researching 3d printed planes recently due to foamboard issues down here in australia.
I've found that you have to order directly from Depron Australia. I've had no luck with hobby shops. Getting the contact adhesive (Por?) is tricky too so I usually use hot glue.
I've made a couple of hybrids, but they are always too heavy. I think foam wing and 3D fuse is the way to go. Can also print nice sharp TE and control hinges. If only we could get some good EPP foam!
Just want to say thank you for getting me into aviation I now have a p51d mustang and a edge
I like you just the way you are you make every day special by just you being you and the best person you can be is your honest self!
nice to see father and son working together
Nice video, what about filling the airplane with expandable foam to give it more strength?
Great fun & as always in-flight filming, second to none. Look forward to the next project!
Should take a look at a 3D printed EDF Jet, like the MiG 15 or F86 Sabre from 3DLabPrint
It be nice to see a few of those and do some red bull style flying. Have a friendly competition.
That was awesome guys. My 3 choices of 3d printed planes from Eclipson that I would like to see you guys fly, in order of priority, would be 1st - the EGW-80, 2nd the Model - V, and 3rd would be the Model - T and make it take off from and land on one of the water hazard lakes in the golf course. Thanks.
I like when you guys do out the box thing. like little cars fly or a ciment block whit wing!
Make an F4u corsair fight a battleship
Great build and flight. How about a 3DLabPrint B-25 for next 3D printed project.
Awesome To see a revisit of the spitfire 3-D printed episode with more warbirds against each other
I’m jealous of Noah. My dad is supportive of my hobby greatly, but he’s definitely not in it as much as I am. Y’all straight up build together! Maybe I just need to offer more projects to invite him into 😃
#LetNoahFly
Love the TKOR sweatshirt!
That drone shot during the slow loop though. Whoa. :D 16:47
I have a sidewinder X1 that will easily print this! I love mine!!!
I'd love to see some of the FlightTest models converted into either full 3d printable or even some sort of hybrid-3d printed options, for example the swappable power-packs might make sense to have 3d printed shelfs.
This was awesome! How about a full aerobatic plane like an Extra 330!
You guys have to do a Thunderbird 2 from the 60's TV show Thunderbirds. That would be hard.... and awesome.
Boy, that’s a pretty plane. Alex, you got the money shot at 12:13. ;-)
Looked like a great setup
Pro Tip for Noah: Adam Savage uses baking soda as a kicker and filler when using CA glue. Baking soda is natriumbicarbonate, this powder helps strengthening the seams when you poor it over the glued seams. Very suitable for foam, prints and balsa.
I converted to 3d printed planes about 3 years ago now and haven't bought a new foamie since. They can handle the power...I build mine for combat flying running a 650kv motor on a 6s battery pack and it keeps up with the nitro planes just fine.
I like the video it’s so cool and I love the Magine nation but you should build the first plane where it all started
I have so far built two eclipson airplanes and I LOVE their quality. Waiting on electronics for their graywing EDF!
Keep up the great work! You all have inspired me to build my own drone, and get into the hobby. Thank you guys so much!
A few of my favorite things as well Mr. B
Very cool! Definitely look forward to more 3d printed planes.
Love these projects! Hopefully next year is not all messed up and I can make it to Flight Fest!!!
Make a Edgley Optica. That must be the optimal for vision and protecting the propeller.
I love the shirt Bix is wearing In the first scene
It would be cool if you made the Messerschmitt ME 262. It’s a WW2 German jet plane, but you could substitute the jets with propellers concealed in the jet engine pods.
Josh
You need to print your own to see the drawbacks... Deflashing the eclipsion planes is a real pain and they obviously did this for you. Sure it's easy to assemble after the flashing and bases are removed but it is hours of work to remove the flashing...
This is awesome plane bro, love it 👍
Would love to see the EGW 80 and EWW 180 planes flown. I have the model t and model y have not flown them yet built the model t but have not put the electronics in it or flown it yet. Alex did a great job chasing.
How about a video highlighting some of the 3D printed accessories the community has made for the FT planes? Parts for the Legacy, P38, etc.
I just received an Ender 3 V2 as a present from my family, so I need some ideas.
My dream project is printing the IL-2 M3 STURMOVIK from 3DLabPrint.
Would love to see FT do a printed/foamboard hybrid plane. I have a printer, and feel like producing large surfaces like wings would be slow with many opportunities for failure (bed adhesion etc). Also not as accessible to those borrowing or renting print time and requires a lot of structural gluing. But using 3d printed formers under a bent foam airfoil or Monokote film - much less print time and much less weight as well. Add 3d printed spars, gear, cowlings etc. for the best of both worlds - quick to build, easy to repair, smoother airfoils and more realism!
Also instead of gluing with CA look into welding your parts with a 3d pen. It works like a MIG welder for plastic.
Try the EWW-180, they just released a version that uses an electronic ducted fan
Oh, love the plane and shirt, Josh
I love you guys
love the tshirt Josh!
Really great guys, your next one should be the P-38 on a 4 cell
Would like to see an F4-U Corsair, and please let Noah fly 4 cell. Love your work.
I would love to see you guys by the plans, print the plane, put the plane together and fly it.
very cool. I'm from Brazil and I really like your videos, I learn a lot.
as long as it brakes on the layer lines the repair is not actually that bad a little CA glue and that brake will actually be stronger then before you broke it
I have actually built a model T of theirs, but the wings folded on the first flight. So I had to redesign the wing and put a carbon spar through it. Then I also had to strengthen the body, but still seems a bit fragile
A 3D printed Concorde EDF would be cool as it's th pinnacle of aviation in terms of how it changed passenger travel
You can just use a compressed air can as a kicker for hot glue to instantly cool it down so it will harden. It is a trick I learned from punished props RUclips channel.
This looks awesome!
Man oh man the MSX- R looks fast just sitting still. Looks like the racers of the 50s and 60s you have to get it and make it as fast as possible or maybe just a wee bit faster than should be possible.
Would be great if you could evaluated which filament is best for 3d printed planes. PLA, that lightweight PLC, or ASA.
More 3D printed planes, please! That was amazing! #LetNoahFly
Noah is getting so much better on camera. :) I hope he's still in FT videos in 30 years. :)
Use wide tape it won't rip the plane apart when you crash like glue will,
However use more tape for higher speeds (don't want it to warp due to drag)
a series on cad design would be nice as well
makes me wonder if Resin printers might have an advantage on repairability? especially if you use UV curing. enjoy watching yall fly this about and can wait to see y'all mode this with FPV.
Amazing! But will you do an "flight test air race" or some dogfights in the future? That would be great!
3d printed 100mph challenge with the EGW-80 or flying off the pond with the Model T has my vote! 👍
#LetNoahFly 😂
Another great video guys. This Old Man been following since almost day one. The 3D printed planes are really going to be the next generation of RC Flying. Having a PNP version is going to be a hot seller. Looking forward to your next project. Love you guys. ✈😎💗💗💗💗💗
Great looking plane!
It would "be nice" if Eclipson would update some of their older designs for the LW-PLA and offer upgrades to those of us who've supported them in the past...
Also, Props to Josh for the favorite T-Shirt! Love ya man!
