I would love to see an 8' Senior Telemaster foam-board set of plans! My dad had an original when I was a little kid, I had one when I was in my teens... It is an epic design. We flew them at night, towed gliders, dropped bombs & chutes! We even flew a 30 minute FREE FLIGHT with it. Several times we flew it by using nothing but the trim tabs. Super versatile plane. It had a flying stabilizer so it took off and landed like a B-52 with the nose down. I have a pile of 4'x8' foam board that I'd love to put into one of those but don't have a good way to design it with. My dad still flies daily and has the equipment for FPV flight - The perfect combo. SD
I love this sort of episode, where the guys think on their feet to come up with solutions that make these really bizarre designs actually fly. It’s a real test of knowledge and experience, so once again congrats!
@Vousie V actually the circular shapes contribute a lot when it comes to lift, that's why if you cut a piece of paper into a long, thin rectangle and tape it into a circular shape when you throw it like a football it stays in the air longer than a normal paper airplane
@@joshuamelvin don't mind me just let me nerd out for a second... For real though I appreciate your reply, I've been watching for the past 5 or 6 years so it means a lot
I love it! I would love to see the Serenity from Firefly and I love the Grumman Goose. The Goose is probably a fairly straight forward beast but Serenity is a box with a neck, quite a challenge.
And to help launch it they should create a launching rail. Like a super easy one with 3 meters of extruded aluminum and then just use a cheap tripod at the front and maybe a cheap mini tripod with those flexible legs at the back just to keep it off the ground. think about it the tripod has the flexible top that would mount perfectly to the aluminum with a T nut and then you can use the adjustments on the tripod in the front to raise and lower the angle of the rail. 3D print out a few parts to roll along the rails like for 3D printers and things and then all you need is something to pull the sled with and rubber is the simple solution there! Hmm that makes me want to design this, I'll wright up a full design in another comment!
You guys are always awesome in what you dream up. 3am and the Old Man from North Carolina almost spilled my coffee ☕ laughing. Been following since almost day one. Love you guys for what you are doing for our Hobby. Thanks for sharing your excitement. ✈️😎💝💝💝💝💝
Watching that it occurred to me that you could use a fiberglass rod to reinforce the leading edge of the hoop. Probably need two or three along with metal ferrules to join them. Then you would not have to worry about speed or wind collapsing the hoop and if you come in slow you could touch down without breaking the hoop. I would think 1/8" is strong enough for that. I love the excitement and the look of that. It should definitely be on the list of planes for your next fly-in. Keep up the great work, it makes sitting in front of the computer doing remote support go a lot faster.
Its obvious that you guys love your work. As for a challenge, how about a flying DeLorean? No. scrap that idea. How about a Death Star? Can you make a ball fly????
When small, a fun little toy. When made MONSTER, a FUN HUGE toy that flew far better than you had a right to expect! (At least, once it wasn't absurdly, horribly underpowered for propulsion). Mad props for the "landing" into the hands of ground crew, no thoughts of landing method accounted for before flight, apparently unharmed. I'm equal parts amused and amazed how much of a well-balanced acrobatic plane with a circular wing your team made, after mad hacks in the process of adding more powerful motors with larger propellers. I WANT ONE, but I live in an apartment complex and it'd be crazy to try to fly it from here, or walk it somewhere suitable. 😅
You guys should build a Boing 747 that has the Space shuttle on top it ... BUT you have the ability to disconnect it, and fly them independently! I think that would be great!
