We can’t say enough about these Eclipson airplanes and these ColorFabb filaments!
Ps: LW-PLA is part of a family of light weight filaments, including LW-ASA and varioShore (LW-TPU) so make sure to check out all the Eclipson planes and the ColorFabb filaments for more 3D printing fun!! 🙌✈️
Eclipson reached out to me and I was on the short list for printing this for you guys! I ended up making my own and can't wait to fly it! Just haven't had the time yet
How about a Beechcraft Starship, a totally cool looking plane
Can you make a 3d printed concorde, with fluorescent filament, with some lights in it.
Just for the stupidity of this challenge, it will be awesome
Put brighter LEDs into the craft, and go for a darker color.
Will spray paint melt pla or no
I would love to see a sr-71 blackbird
YES this!
Wouldn’t we all
I'd be so happy if this happened. It's ok if you guys leave out the bleeding like a stuck pig on the ground detail. 🤣😂
The issue with creating a scaled blackbird is that it wasnt designed for lift which an rc version would need so much more of, which could be generated with speed as a trade off, however an rc version could be made withactual scaled jet engines
An x15 would also be awsome.
Put a big rocket in it and blast it into the stratosphere
Video idea: 3d printed plane going over 100 mph
Check out my northern pike video. 113+ and I melted the firewall...
Legal
no problem you just need to re-inforce many parts with nylon cloth and expoy for your 200+ kmh experience with 3d prints :P been there done that.
Yes
100MPH DONUT FASTBALL!
Don't think we didn't see that Stuka flash @ 10:43! Looking forward to that one ;)
Yes!
"Our first 3D printed project was the Eclipson model D"
3D LabPrints Spitfire and Lightning: "Am I a joke to you?"
They didn't printed them themselves I think
@@peterzingler6221 ‘their’ first 3D model, indeed!
And the P-47
Didn't they also make that 3d printed explorer?
what happened to there taz bot printer??
You guys are always so positive and encouraging. You seem to have a collaborative and respectful work environment. No tenseness. You all have fun and enjoy what you’re doing. You should be proud. You’ve created an inspirational team.
Looks like a Burt Rutan air frame. Super-sleek.
and hard to rotate.
@@user-dg5br2lx1k but stable. Or do you mean on the ground?
Flite Test I would love to see the Vulcan bomber that would be epic.
Challenge: build a harrier with thrust vector control
Love hearing you guys laugh /get excited when you're planes fly!!
your
Can you guys do a strength test with a normal LWPLA one, and then one with carbon fiber coated, similar to on foam planes!
That won't work good. Composite planes are build like they are build for good reasons. You will end up with a very heavy plane. If you want it from carbon fiber take the data and print molds for it and then laminate it with an airex or rohacell core.
@@peterzingler6221 Good idea, maybe they could do something like that instead
You guys are such great ambassadors to the hobby. Thank you for taking the time to introduce so many new and innovative ideas.
I really like the idea of printed RC aircraft and with the lightweight PLA it's going to take this part of the hobby to a new level. Thank you for posting this video guys.
Wow I had perfect timing checking for any updates this morning lol
I love 3d printers. I wish I could afford one. I love that we're at the point we can get such clean prints now at home and make our own cool things like that plane. And you're totally right. After you build it, if you ever break something you can just print another. Or if you want to experiment with your own tweaks you can do that too. It's awesome.
I like your sweater in the beginning Josh. R.I.P. Grant, "The King Of Random" original. I miss him, so sad he's no longer around.
did he die?
@@sentane8031 yep.
You guys do such an amazing job! You've improved my rc experience immensely. I wanted to recommend a "free throw" style launch if people are afraid of nicking fingers. A gentle hop, and toss and I guarantee you fingers are clear.
8:07 Nice vector drive😆👍
Wow! All beautiful designs! I would really like to see the WHITEWING EDF
EWW-180 fly. I've always liked the jet-like idea of ducted fans. Great job guys! Keep up the good work.
I never get tire of that drone chase footage in your flight test videos. So cool. It's what got me to subscribe all those years back and it's still enjoyable as ever.
Another great video, guys. Thanks from the UK for sharing. The home maker abilities are really coming along. This new PLA looks very interesting. A compromise, but looks tough enough and also probably prints quicker as well. Double bubble win! Keep up the good work :)
Pretty awesome design
Wow! Gotta try that new filament!
Very nice! I've been printing out the "Model Z" from Eclipson the past few days. I can't wait to get her in the air!! Thanks for the videos. I started flying this year and watching your videos on building and learning to fly got me through without someone standing over my shoulder. Pilots around my area are hard to find lately. Especially pilots that are AMA certed that know how to fly.
Your son is my favorite extra ever out of all of them.
I love that ginger. So blessed to have this time with him and thank you for making it possible!
@@joshuamelvin No Thank you. I'm on my 3rd FT build!
Might have to look into some lightweight pla for future projects....
Or just print molds from the data and laminate one :D
@@peterzingler6221 that's one hell of an idea
I want to see an airplane that uses a bird like tale to steer. And may be even feathers to build up the wings.
There are ornithopter rc designs but don't think I've seen a 3d printed one see where it would help
Pretty nice job, guys! It flies really nice! 😃
Stay safe there with your families! 🖖😊
those radial motor are soooo good, i have lots of planes but my flight test ones have so much power.
Love the lights
Really amazing possibilities with that LWPLA! Stay healthy, guys!
Looks like Noah's getting more comfortable on camera! Good to see him getting involved!
That’s so cool !!!! Hopefully I can make it back one day and check out the new shop . I was at the old shop and couple years back and was in the sparrow build ! Love to see y’all innovating the hobby.
Reminded me of my first 3D printed maiden with John. He can definitely relate to Noah! Now amp it up faster and race a 3D White Diamond with a 2207!
Great looking plane! Love the shout out to AeroTech Hobbies! Have been there sooo many times!
12:15, Josh zips vertical and goes out of focus, camera cuts and Noah is leaning with a concentrated grimace trying to keep him in frame.
Going to have to get my hands on some of that lightweight PLA. Flies great!
It is AWESOME! takes a tad bit more time to figure out, but is well worth the extra bit of time... Really blew our minds as well as their LW ASA(PLA) !!
Really enjoying the 3d Printed focus here as of late.
You asked for intput on what we'd like to see... I know we really like making things as cheap and approachable as possible but i would love to see you guys do a more advanced build, a 3D printed EDF in particular would be spectacular.
Another thought would be to do a deep dive video about setting up and tuning a 3d printer for the best results. Particularly with this new LW-PLA since it's so new.
Another great video, thank you! As for more printed planes I think the EWW-180 EDF and the MXS-R would be a lot of fun to watch.
I really enjoy your videos. I only ever had one R/C airplane and I flew the heck out of it. So nice to see you having fun!
One of your best vids. Classic FT. Including a mid-air disassembly :D
Awesome video guys! Thanks for testing these! Please try their Prandtl wing!
I'd love to see you put the model T to the test! There's something special about flying off water and this plane looks like it's great fun!
Bravo for the fpv drone being able to keep up with that fast plane
I love these eclipson planes. Would really like to see an EDF version perhaps the whitewing EDF.
Try out the Eclipson Prandtl, would love to hear your thoughts!
Great vid guys! Combining my two favorite hobbies :) this is the flite test i love
Noah you're doing a great job in the videos dude!
Awesome fun guys! Love it 👍😊
I often see a happy dad and son and hope they both know how lucky they are. I was an abused kid and I still to this day, and I'm 44, see a dad and son that love each other and are normal and nice and I feel a longing for that. That and I feel almost a sense of pride for those people. Disembodied pride. I feel happy for them even though it's something I didn't have as a kid, the fact I didn't have it made me the kind and gentle man I am today...
Tight video! What a great team.
Loved that!
I love what you guys do. You should do some form of jet powered as well.
You guys honestly made me laugh out loud today. What a great build! Thanks for what you do.
What made you laugh?
This plane reminds me of the jet from the original Johnny Quest cartoon.
Josh great flying and video. You guys really rock. ✈️😎💝
Beautiful plane!
so sick, love your shirt.
That thing looks like it could leave quite a hole wherever it hits.
Maybe try building the MXS-R. It would be interesting to see if it can do some harder manoeuvres or maybe even 3d aerobatics. It also looks absolutely beautiful plus I haven't seen that many plane content from you guys covering aerobatics in the few recent years. So it should make for an interesting video ;)
very kool vid chaps, another great review. Looking forward to trying some of this LWPLA looks great. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the endless possibilities.................
Fantastic idea
Wow you all are amazing i have bo words to explain keep it up guys
It looks like Space Ghost's Phantom Cruiser.
Very true.
Light and strong is really nice.... I will buy this stuff 😆👌
Love you guys!! Wish I worked there!!
That thing looks sleek!
That’s one GOOD looking R/C plane!
Right?! thats what we said! We just HAD to get our hands on it!!
Great chase drone work!
Love seeing you wear TKOR hoodie!! RIP Bro!
this is so awesome
Wow super good job
Very cool project
Have you ever experimented with realistic (general aviation) power to weight ratios?
I really want to see the progress you guys have made on your Howard Hughes flight simulator . I had a cool idea the other day to covert the passenger side of your atv side by side. That way it's mobile
Amazing plane I love what you guys do with aviation =D
I haven't seen any of your videos in some time, but as always it was a great video! Thanks!
That is sick!!!!!!
Would love to have 3d print designs of the flite test planes.
very solid design
Nice Christmas tree in the background🎄
I printed the eclipson eww180 and its an amazing flying plane. I printed it out of normal PLA in about a week with 1 printer and the screws pulled through the motor mount after using a 4s. So it could have been avoided by using washers. It was almost a similar but more traumatic landing. I now have LW-PLA and I'm going to document the whole build now that I know it flies so great. I love the landing gear design that can be used with rubber bands and it works flawlessly. The designs they have are so good and worth it If you have a 3d printer!
RIGHT?! SO good! We love all their designs, just so well thought out and well designed! Quality! Let us know how you like the LW-PLA.. it was amazing for this airplane. @ColorFabb is really innovating the game when it comes to filaments and products!
@@FliteTest I definitely will! I just set up octoprint on my printers so i'm getting them dialed in first. I Will be using Inlands LW-PLA from Microcenter so it will be interesting to see how it differs from Colorfab! I will order some colorfab to see the differences as well! thanks for all you guys do!
That sleek design really make me want to see you guys try and build a Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird!
Hey FliteTest! I loved this video. I really enjoy the idea of 3D printed planes. I have a challenge. Using LW-PLA, 3D print and fly an FT Simple Scout. I would LOVE to see one 3D printed!
LW-ASA has been recently released as well. I'm hoping that will work well for those of us who live in areas where PLA warps too easily.
10:36 wanna see more of that stuka
I’ll definitely try to make this one out out foam and put a PowerUp 4.0 module on it!
I don’t think I’ve ever commented on a video. Maybe I did. Regardless, I’ve been watching FliteTest for years. Now, my boys like to watch with me. We’re going to have to break down and build a plane before long. Appreciate the good clean content that I can let my kids watch. Thanks for all that you do.
Make a flying Christmas tree
No santa's sled and his weird dogs
I would really like to see how well lightweight PLA works covered with fiberglass.
Great idea! ;)
any super light well designed air frame should work extremely well if covered well with fiber glass imo...just a lot of time would be required...maybe try a mini 600mm plane first
It would be interesting to see a combo of PLA for the structure and foam board for the surface.
Rocking ''TKOR'' hoody!
I actually had bad luck with fully 3d printed airplane where the wings easily snapped. Crashed at first launch. End up designing a pod and boom printed fuselage with foam Tiny Trainer wing. Fly just like the original Trainer but with bigger space and slightly lighter. Great job FT!👍
Great video, great filament, thank you. You should try launching without motor, it works great on my delta, put motor just after it has been in flight.
Could you make a test with covering this PLA with fiberglass as you did recently on your usual foam?
Thank you and continue enjoying us with your videos :)
Great job on the video footage 👍
My electric wings are becoming my favorite. That plane is nice looking. You sound congested, be safe.
Super Teil 👍
Please, print and build the prandtl wing, it looks so nice! And it's a plane with no vertical surface...
Yes, Prandtl wing, isn't this the one that NASA's scale research dept. did a video on? Flite Test guys even visited that NASA center I think. This is a good idea.
@@mikeupton5406 exactly!
Good testing
When I first saw the plane, I thought it was a model of the air plane for the character "Mark" from the old cartoon "Battle of the Planets". Lots of their vehicles could fly. Please try recreating a few of them. Also "Pooped out the motor!" was awesome!
I think an electric glider would be great to see, light weight and a good test for the wing strength/flexibility. Slope soaring tends to be tough on gliders with harsher than normal landings especially in scrub etc and to be able to print replacement parts particularly those that get the most wear would be great!
