A few years ago there was a eagle that tried to "borrow" a couple of toddler's at a beach in new Hampshire, fortunately for the kids the eagle couldn't really carry their weight and dropped them after about ten feet.
You need to film whoever owns that truck calling their insurance company " No, really a baby flew into the back of my truck". Thanks for the laugh. You guys are awesome.
George Leite i actually had a hit and run with a deer when my car was parked and empty! 😬 the deer rad across four lanes of traffic barely missing two moving cars running into the parking lot. The deer slid across the hood of my car before doing a backflip into the windshield of the car next to me, the horns also punctured the side panel. The deer than got up and ran away. The only damage to my car was a trail of fur across the hood of my car, the car next to mine wasn’t so lucky!
My dad was a supervisor at Eglin in the mid 60s when the 1st SOW was experimenting with Skyhook, I believe on C-123s. When they did experiments like this, airmen could volunteer for an experiment and be given a day off as a reward. Well, my dad had this one troop who wasnt all that useful when he was there and he would volunteer for every test program they had. Which worked out OK cause he wasnt missed all that much. Well, Skyhook came along and this guy signed up to test it (tbh it sounds kinda fun, I might have done that too). They suited him up, sat him on the test range, flew in, snagged the cable and... the winch broke. For about 2 hours this guy was flopping around at 5,000' over western Florida being centrifuged vertically behind a C-123 while a couple of technicians pounded on the winch. They finally got him winched in and he got his day off - after a week in the hospital shifting his internal organs back into their original location. Apparently while in the hospital he was also cured of the "volunteer" thing...
I love flite test. It is the best channel for getting people inspired and believe me I am super inspired. Keep up the great work. Thank you very much for taking the time out of your busy lives to create content and introduce plethora of people into the hobby. Stay Safe
There was a similar project tried, if you trail a long rope behind you and fly in circles the rope will trace a spiral in the air, use a long enough rope and the center of the spiral will be effectively stationary, grab the end and winch up the package.

Really good video, as you have us accustomed to. I really think we need a "part 2" for this project. I want to see that baby save inside. Crazy part would be to get the baby inside the plane with the skyhook and the drop him again with a parachute.

I flew the MC130 IRL. The way it worked was the whiskers opened on the nose. The pilot caught the line and the whiskers closed and a catch held the rope. They hooked the line and winched the line up to a capstan and hauled the victim in. The navigator opened the forward escape hatch and hooked the line to the balloon and cut it. From my memory of that being done during WWII the had spars drooping from the tail of the airplane with a loop tide between them that led into the winch inside the plane and the loop was to capture the balloon and tether rope . The other was to drag a grappling hook to snag a loop strung between to poles with a tether hooked to a sling to pick a person . Both were used during WWII , Korea , and Vietnam to pick up downed pilots and other personnel . Yes through Korea and Vietnam it was mostly by helicopters but the same ways were still used even by them .
