Y’all better listen to this man !! He ain’t lying I’ve been working on my brand for while now and it ain’t easy as all the other you tubers say. Also watch his previous “How to Start a Brand” 1-9 it’s really realllyyyyy helpful and in depth
@Alex Martins yeah but he approaches streetwear and fashion in an intellectual way and he elevated the streetwear movement for many people in the industry.
to all these comment i think virgil did have something different and without kanye he would atleast be a little popular but it is true that his connections gave him a boost.
This is perfect timing. I was just telling someone about creating a brand of yourself and clothing label is one way to express your work. I've been planning mines for a little over a year.
I've got no plan on starting a brand but as someone who's relatively new to RUclips and just started on Insta, it's a super interesting way of thinking about things.
Everything he said was spot on. As an artist (PREMO) trying to brand myself I noticed... most of the time it’s not about the art but more about the artist. There’s ALOT of people on social media as successful artist and if we’re honest .. they ain’t THAT great BUT they’re great people and consistent with content. It’s more about how YOU sell yourself rather than the art itself. I feel like the same applies to brands. So personal branding before the actual BRAND is key. You gain a platform before you sell, giving you a higher success rate.
This would apply a lot more to streetwear than other more "traditional" areas of fashion like "Luxury", Haute Couture etc... For them, personal branding came after their clothing brand became successful and after hard physical work designing collections, perfecting designs, establishing a market, attracting buyers / investors, cementing an identity, networking and designing fashion shows etc... Names that come to mind include Rei Kawakubo, Junya Watanabe, Alexander McQueen, Zack Posner, Stella McCartney, Alexander Wang among many others, but this newer way of building a brand is nonetheless very valid and interesting to see, as displayed by all those mentioned in this video and more.
Dayum this is actually so useful. Personal Brand --> Business Brand. I want to start an African fashion business, but I'll plan it in the background whilst I'm waiting for my RUclips account to grow.
This is seriously the best message for fundamentally tackling this problem. It’s one of the reasons why I held off until this year for an idea I have that requires more than just the brand name. It needs a mission. And that mission starts with me doing a music podcast and events first. Then add pieces to that overall effort. But it starts with me. Thanks for this inspirational video.
I handle merchandise production and consultation for RUclipsrs, voice actors, graphic designers, and so forth. This is definitely one of my top favorites from the Casual in the past couple of years. Learning what isn't being said was a golden piece of advice. Thanks again!
bro i just want to thank you for posting this. every point you kept bringing up kept hitting exactly on the thoughts i was having that needed to change. much appreciated
I think everyone that wants to start a brand needs to see this! This is totally something that is rarely talked about. Once you start a brand you realize that once the design and product are there you need to put in way more work in building connections and an audience. This is typically the point where most people that start end up giving up.
I started Third World Famous from making promotional tees for my friend’s rap videos. I will admit that doing videos on social media garnered a lot of interest that I didn’t expect
thank you for youre advices, i am actually saving up right now to buy a seewing machine and make clothes that i design and i have a note book full of them
i do nature and street art photography, make abstract art, and make fractal art from all of that. i want to put my designs in print but also on clothes. i also want to get back into other forms of art that i've let slide due to time and money constraints, like metalsmithing, ceramics, and weaving. most of the design i see on your channel looks really cool, but it's all really muted colors. what i want to design is going to be like wearing an art museum. so colorful, statement pieces. i really appreciate this channel, it's teaching me the hard things i need to face if i want to do something larger than POD.
Wow I've never heard of this tips before. I heard to write it down to remember I'm a visual artist But i love my art on clothes So this is sooo helpful I'm getting a sewing machine soon This month Wow u just opened my eyes
Very inspiring!!! Makes total sense. Time to re-write the plan and that's a good thing! It's such a difficult path, but that's how you know it's the right one!

I started my brand making custom fedoras almost 5 years ago. I’m in the process of rebranding this year to incorporate clothing. This video was the added little push to just get it done. Thanks Reggie!!
This is a very good point reggie. I don’t even think it has to be a personal brand, it can just be a platform you have. For example look at lyrical Lemonade, it’s a music video platform but now they sell merch which I’m pretty sure sells out. When you have a brand behind just your clothing, it gives them even more of a reason to buy your clothes
Holy shit just realized how many subs you're at now.... Since your first video I watched you've been one of my favorite youtubers because of your original yet relevant content, and your clear speaking voice and well thought out phrases. Love your content keep it up Reggie!!
This spoke to me so well. I am a manga artist and already have a pretty good platform and am currently creating a street wear brand so I might as well show off my art first and build that up first
I've studied textiles art and makeup all my life, I love fashion and every time I go to bed I dream of my fashion brand, i may have all the creative skills however I'm not business minded. Lots of things business wise confuse me, I don't always know what everything means or how to do it. I'm also dyslexic so research becomes difficult and very hard for me to understand. I wish wish wish I could one day make a brand of my own. I love tailored clothing, I love quality in clothing. I have the whole aesthetic and ideas but not the money or know how
I'm the opposite. I'm a business minded person and I love researching some stuffs especially related to fashion and business but I'm not an artist or designer.
I see a few of people are reaching out to in these comments, but please be alert as a lot of people want to steal your idea and take it for themselves.
First time on this channel and hands down Reggie does an amazing job explaining the importance of personal brand linked with your [insert product / service here] brand. In my experience as a business consultant for many big brands what you point out is super relevant! Thank you, Reggie. Keep it up! .... Time to binge watch
Really relatable, I’ve personally see hours and hours of content Such as videos and google searches on “starting a clothing brand” and this is probably the best put back to basics and helpful video, love it 👍
Could someone answer these important question for me. 1.) How can you put your design on shirts, trousers etc...? 2.) Do you need like a Macbook or iMac or something? 3.) Is there a good app that allows you to do that? 4.) How can you find the right material for your clothes? 5.) Can you produce like a hundred of the same design? 6.) Any tips on starting an online clothing brand from scratch/nothing?
At the end of The day..if you build it they will come..there is nothing ritually better at drawing in success and manifesting your dreams than investing in yourself and your ideas..social media following or not..just do it..
I'm just 15 and I wanted to start my own business right now cuz I love a fashion that is mixed with culture, poetry, pure, mysterious, gorgeous, music, and love. I want to start a brand that everybody can wear for their everyday life. I want my culture to know internationally and to showcase my works and skills for my people.
This guy is right. I'm actually from this and I want to do it again. I created a personal brand as a trader on Facebook and people knew me. So I decided to start a RUclips channel about trading and its growing at a speed I never expected. . Now I want to use the same method to start and grow a clothing brand.
I feel so much better after watching this, I’ve been working on my personal brand and decided to create clothing. I have not launched yet and I’m working on my business brand now. I will admit I am SUPER scared to launch.
I´d like to add to the personal brand aspect , that you SHOULD !!! definately invest in yourself but don´t try to be someone the public probably would like. Just be yourself, by time your following will grow, in a reliable and economic healthy way eventually.
So I have started my brand called Pacific Panda Co. and I WISH I saw this first. Don’t get me wrong I am very proud where I’m at, but with this video itself, I would of loved your insight! I really enjoyed this video. I’ve always enjoyed art but this made me feel more serious about putting myself out there on the media. Of course I’ve thought of using this as a form of promotion to build a following, but I never felt it could get anywhere. But watching this solidified the desire to just put myself out there and start getting “bold”. Great video 👍
This is true. My girlfriend is a youtuber making videos of song covers and then recently she started a buy and sell clothing brand so because of all the followers she got, she became successful selling clothes. She's now looking into releasing her own collection.
THANK U SO MUCH THIS REALLY MADE SENSE!! right now i'm customizing clothing and shoes and i wanted to start my line later on i didn't know that that is what a lot of designers did
Greate Content & amazing advice. It’s very easy for entrepreneurs that are starting out to get bad guidance when it comes to starting a brand (I’m talking to you click bait RUclipsrs). Some advice for my fellow entrepreneurs... ask yourself why are you starting a brand? Why should someone buy your product? What does your brand represent? What do you have to offer the industry? Or The world? Also READ! READ! READ! and listen to business podcasts. Get a mentor if you can and look for free government business start up programs in your area. One last thing... You will make lot’s of mistakes when starting out and things might take years to pick up. Just know that this is all apart of the process! Keep on grinding! Peace
What he is talking is what I am also doing. Personal branding. I don't have money to start so I used my time to start my own brand. I am telling my story.
