"focus on 1 product" is a great advice. Just like food industry, there's many starting brand that try to have many variation but excel at none, making their business at most mediocre. It's good to have many option for the customer, but having a "specialties" is what makes your business special
I run fashion businesses in Japan and I use the pre-order trick whenever I start a new label. It's the single most effective strategy. You do have to make sure your pieces make a statement, and with my 3D software background, I don't even need sample pieces, I can make the pieces in 3D, and also use those for my marketing. Lots of money saved.
thanks for this content. I have worked as a Fashion Designer for various Brands (Big and Small) and started my first label about 2 years ago. I can honestly confirm from personal experience that all your advices are good, especially not making shit loads of designs when you are just starting your label, but rather making a couple of designs (or even one to start with) and get your all systems running from there. Again amazing content thanks a lot!
Thanks for the education dude :) I remember you mentioned investing the time and learning to sew your own samples in another video and I took that advise. It saves me so much money; especially on a budget. I started documenting this process on my channel - absolute plug to my yt. I take your advice and other's and make videos about going through this process - from my pov as a one woman team. I'm learning so much. Thanks bruv 🖖🏾
When I started my brand I started looking at fashion completely different when I see pieces at the store. You see the same tags or same logos used repetitively because of screen costs. If I could give any advice for a start up brand I’d say make a powerful, unique product you can stand up and for 3x down on marketing: the marketing is everything.

Love to hear what extra gems he's following up with on this topic, Overtime!
Great advice as always Reggie. Been doing almost everything you mentioned. I will open my website for preorders and use most of my budget for marketing. I'm working with an agency in Italy to help me manufacture my samples. It’s a bit more expensive but the communication is better and easier. Also using the best, most sustainable fabrics you can get, also made in Italy. I want to make “luxury” fashion/streetwear more sustainable and affordable for a larger, younger target group. More and more kids are getting into luxury clothing and are willing to spend a bit more for longer lasting items. Especially in Germany where I’m based, the market screams for what I will be offering. The fashion community is growing like crazy over here.
You got Italian manufacturers ? They don’t even have websites and you found them ? They must be like fast fashion ones bro cuz idk that’s possible finding one unless you got connects
great series, i'm learning a lot. working on getting my art on clothes and i was going to go the print on demand sublimation route. i like the concept, bc it's a bit hands off and lets me work on my life and travel and art while things sell, instead of being mired in the daily grind of it. and sublimation itself is such an eco friendly way to print, and less wasteful than wet dye or cut and sew is. but.. all the companies that do it big in the states aren't up to my standards for clothing, or for business. it's hard as hell finding smaller companies that do the same thing with all-over-print sublimation. and those that do aren't really also going to be handling the distro side for you. so i'm looking into the traditional ways now, trying to educate myself there and see if i can find a balance somewhere. i don't want to sew it all myself. i don't want to man a storefront myself. i want to sell online, let people buy while i'm off hiking nature, and maybe bring some inventory to a festival or street fair here and there to get my in-person fix. i want the freedom to keep making more art, that's why i'm starting a business in the first place- for the freedom it can bring me. my last job was in manufacturing for a small company and they wanted to do every single thing themselves, which meant they were trapping themselves in the daily grind, and i just don't see why i should do that. as i grow i can set up my own production, sure, that mans itself. but in the meantime.. anyway, thanks for the videos, i really appreciate the service you provide to us even when we can't afford the next level education.
Haha...i did exactly that, sew my own sample piece! Now waiting for manufacturer to reply..try to cut down the cost as much as possible.😆😆..But for people who are not aiming to release cut and sew pieces, and want to do t-shirt, sweater and etc, I think starting with print on demand is a good way to start as it can let you control your cost better!
I’m still a newbie, and i have zero experience in sewing and i’m trying to find the best fabrics. What is your advise if you went through this process?
Thank you Reggie! This is so helpful! I'm already waiting for the next part🔥 how do you think businesses that focus on customs (or any "one of a kind piece/made to order" type) should be handled from that perspective?
Always love your content bro. This video has come at the perfect time for me. I’ve seen other videos you’ve done in the past about creating a brand as well and they helped shape the way I’m going about my brand now. I’m currently learning to sew and loving it. Can’t wait to start working on my samples really soon.
Looking forward to seeing part two. I Would like be to know what is the easiest social media platform to build an online audience for a low, to not cost (organically ). I know some platform algorithms make it impossible for organic growth with out paying for ads . What platform do you see making an impact in small business /brands. Helping them make it at a profitable level More quickly for a low cost in marketing like it was before (meaning little to no ad spending).

Starting a brand as we speak.. dropping in 3 weeks I have two t shirt DTG print ... in the making I have 2 puff jackets ( quilted jackets) being made from two suppliers from Alibaba both from China . They’ve been giving me an update showing photos since I purchased my order .. I have 600 followers on my page already . Not trying to purchase followers want to do it organically. I was on edge doing a cut and sew piece cause of budget (180 per sample) but I have some heat ideas 💡 and wanted to bring it to life
What's your IG? I'd love to see your stuff. I'm about at the same stage with my brand. Getting DTG jeans made rn through a Chinese Alibaba supplier. I'm at @enterthepurevoid

Not selling a single thing yet, but driving home your brand's "why". I'm assuming ppl work on this before or during development?
it is all about the business management. If a brand with bad management blow up it shd be considered as a lucky factor. Don't build a brand base on your luck. Start learn about the business.
Yo reggie I just want to know if it's absolutely necessary to make samples for your brand... can I use blanks from companies like bella canvas instead of creating samples? I have been sewing for a while now, I love it and would like to find my audience and something for them to wear and make money from that. Can I be 16 and start development/branding? and in a little more than a year actually start a clothing line? Is there a certain time I should start developing? how long does the "fashion process" usually take? please give me all the advice you can, or lead me somewhere that can. I have been doing lots of research but would like someone to actually reply and talk directly to me.
Started my brand broknnation.com about a month ago and so far it’s good but with fall coming around I’m planning to release hoodies but Instagram makes it hard to promote to everyone and since i didn’t get a sample done yet I’m not sure when to promote on Twitter so no one steals the idea before it’s made🤔 any thoughts?
Does anybody know of a blank tshirt brand that has a high neckline like Alstyle, but it not as long as Alstyle ts? Heavy-ish cotton preferred. Best I've seen that meets this is Los Angeles Apparel, but the cost is high.
