There's a big gap in information here when you talk about blanks from other manufacturers. All of these separate stages involve different suppliers (unless using a single POD service), and sending bulk quantities of product to then be "finished" with labels is not only a huge logistical challenge, it is also extremely costly as the factory adding the labels then effectively becomes your warehouse and you need to pay them to store your inventory until it's all shipped directly to customers or you - direct to customers will rarely happen, so you're then faced with storing all the stock yourself. I love all the energy here, but it's all "great in theory" and what isn't very transparent is just how much start up cash you'll need to get a business like this fully off the ground. You're much better starting small with a complete POD service that handles every single aspect (including white labelling) and then as your brand grows, start adding better quality garments into your range. Your buying power as new label is basically none existent, so you need to be acutely aware of margins in the early days. Do NOT take a risk and buy a bunch of stock up front, get it all custom labelled, then HOPE to sell all your units. That is a huge error to make.
@@tonytooshort I see so many RUclipsrs giving roughly the same advice, making out like setting up a brand (especially a tee shirt brand) is as easygoing and cheap as buying a carton of milk. In reality, the exact opposite is true. It's extremely hard work to even get a tiny bit of traction these days, and in order to compete on cost you need to be buying in huge quantities just to gain a slight increase in margin. I've been in the business for 25 years, done it all from self startup screen/vinyl/transfer printing through to running graphics and production departments for international labels. The "facilities" to produce ranges of tees/hoodies etc these days is quite extraordinary, and certainly POD services are a fantastic way for (quite literally) anyone to get involved. But this notion that simply "getting involved" will inevitably lead to huge success is such a load of rubbish. It won't, nine times out of ten. Many factors in this line of work lead to profitability (in the sense that it can be a viable business for someone) so I just think a bit of caution needs applying when watching videos like this. They're a good springboard, but only a small cog in a big wheel.
@@Pharoah2 Do you have any idea how long it takes to build a brand into the sort of position where you have the customer base of numbers in order to be able to pre sell a launch collection? It can take literally years - unless you have tens of thousands of $$$ to employ a marketing team, and even then pre sales are not guaranteed. Even when you're up and running, pre selling direct to the customer is not a stable business unless you have staff and resources to constantly maintain marketing. Wholesale is a far better structure when starting out. Connecting with retailers.
@@obscurazone mate, you pre-sell as in “drop opens on x day and is only open for 24 hours!”. Yes you need to put some marketing in. Then when the 24 hours is up you use a service like this to immediately white label the right garments, and then ship em to the customers. That way you have no stock that isn’t sold. The margins are absolutely horrific, you will barely turn a profit, but for your first few drops it’s about building your brand. Again, this is how AAT got its start and now it has A-listers wearing the brand.

That’s exactly why I’ve been starting to work with apliiq. Their private label options are amazing and I know the profit margin in the beginning won’t be huge, but I’m looking long term and want to create a lasting brand that will eventually create the profits for the long term and have a brand that is memorable and recognisable...that’s my aim. So thank you John for sharing! 🙏🏽🔥❤️
Yeah Apliiq has great ideas, but the pricing and quality you’re gonna get from them is garbage. Get your EIN, file your LLC and get your wholesale license, and work with LA Apparel

Question: So I have a question do you have to send all garments to Apliq after getting all them from Bella Canvas? And what is the cost? Please Advise thank you!
Watching everyone compare their business cards during that scene in the movie American Psycho should let everyone know the importance of a brand label.
Which POD would you recommend to go for such type "ESSENTIALS" of logo printing on the hoodie or tshirt back, bottom or sleeve? Printful, printify, apliq, etc?

I really don't have much but I want to be able to start just with a printer and oldschool ironing on. I was wondering what's a good program where I can transfer my art to shirts?
