I agree!! I have been watching several and some of them makes me think I should stand on my head. Thank you Laura so much for making sense. I have so much scrap fabric (I just cannot seem to part with it) In Michigan and we have looong cold, frozen winter ahead. Going to the fabric store and hoard 1/4" elastic (haha) Pantry, fridge and deep freezer full. And will, of course, come out with a lot of new fabric to sew for spring and summer.

These would be so cute using 2 fabrics sewn down one long side first with a scant 1/4 inch seam. When they are twisted in the hair they will show both colors, perfect for team spirit, school colors, etc. This is the best scrunchie tutorial on the web!!! Bless you, Laura!

I've been using your elastic technique for mine, and I love it! I used to dread trying to push narrow elastic under the presser foot, and jamming the machine. I also think this method scrunches up the scrunchie better, making it look fuller and puffier. Also, it prevents the elastic from migrating inside of the scrunchie and/or twisting itself around. I'm going to try your closure method, too. I don't want to do the burrito method, and this is a great option for a neat closure. You are a great instructor! You show everything clearly, the video is well-lit, too.

I almost gave up!! LOL. Out of all the wonderful things I have made, I could not make a scrunchie to save my life! Every week my 6 year old granddaughter came over, she was looking for scrunchies. The last one I made she said "Umm GiGi, this is not right" with a puzzled look on her face. LOL.. I felt like such a failure. Why???!! in God's name can I not make a scrunchie? The other methods where just not right to me. But then here you come.. and the sun shines once again! Thank you for restoring my confidence in my ability to make whatever my granddaughter asks. She knew I could do it...but you gave me faith in myself. I appreciate your professionalism and your gift of teaching is truly God given. God bless you for sharing your gift and love of sewing with us. Sharon.
