Girl, you have changed the scrunchie game for me. I was able to use some of your tips and it made it soooo much easier. Especially the tube flipper. I just took an old wooden flag pole and put it between my legs and it works great. Thank you thank you thank you
So you have now taught an old dog new tricks! Thank you for helping me speed up this process. I have so many sewing projects waiting, so maybe I can get to them sooner now. Bless you, young lady! You are a manufacturing engineer at heart. You sure just made my sewing world happier. Thank you!
Omg, i wished i watched this video earlier. I volunteered to make scrunchies for my church fair and I took a lot of time in cutting, sewing and turning inside out. With your video it's so fast. Im going to try this. Thank you very much.
These are wonderful tips Taylah! These are wonderful tips for sewing in general, regardless of whether a person is a hobbyist, or creating sewn pieces for sale. I do sewing for enjoyment, to make alterations on thrifted clothes, and to do repairs for my loved ones as well as myself. I've been pre-winding my bobbins ahead of time for a few years now, and I can attest this is a huge game changer! I always have several bobbins of my most frequently used colors in a little tray, and will pre-wind a few in specific colors needed for a project before starting it. I really enjoyed watching this, I learned a few new ideas, and I admire your work and your skills. Thanks again! Fawn 😊
Nice video. You can try this for inserting elastic into the tubes - put a rubber band around the top of the stick and hold the cut piece of elastic there hanging down. Next, just slide the tube down the stick and elastc while making sure it doesn't go beyond the bottom end of the elastic. Then just pull the top portion of the elastic down and away from the rubber band and stick.
Thank you for this wonderful tip. I've been using the burrito method for sewing my scrunchies for a while now and it is pretty time consuming HAHA 😂 I will try your method hope it would work for me. Lots of love from the Philippines 🇵🇭
Wow wow wow Ur a machine! This is brilliant. I'm just looking into doing bows and scrunchies, so I definitely take it advice. Who knows I may end batch doing too! Fellow Aussie here also! 💖
True. I learned that years ago when hand quilting a very colourful quilt. I entered it in an art show that my hubby’s work sponsored & it blew me away that I won best of show.
Oh my goodness, thank you for sharing- that's a wonderful idea! 😍🇨🇦 I recall using some light grey thread on denim (I do experiments on denim for fun and enjoyment) and it looked absolutely wonderful! I forgot about that, but will certainly start using grey some more in the future!
I’ve never had a problem sewing the elastic without glue. I don’t even pin it. I also use a bodkin, it’s fast. I will try the thicker elastic next time. I also use a zig zag stitch on the elastic, because elastic stretches a straight stitch will pop under pressure.
I watched an insta reel of scrunchie being made and thought to myself I wonder how they're from start to finish. Searched how... clicked this video and its the same girl from the reel. Looks really fun!
So Canadian here, I love your videos, I watch them while I work (just started a mask/scrunchies and stuff business last year ❤). For your pulling the elastic through issue, I found another scrunchie maker here who recommended a bodkin by clover that's called a clip and glide, it's green. Best thing I have ever bought for my business , but a little harder to find. I found mine at a local small sewing shop. Hope this helps, keep up the amazing videos, super inspiring 😊❤ ~Thalli&Co (Haley)
Thank you for this. I've seen so many videos and honestly I couldn't figure out how they were putting the scrunchie together lol this way is much more simpler ❤️
Theres a great little machine called a Side Winder. Its not very bog and ots sole purpose is bobbin winding. Its super fast and you dont have to undo your sewing machine to make new bobbins It can also run on the side while youre sewing if you want to refill as you run out.
If you want, you can use an expo marker and put the elastic on the top, close the cap on the elastic, and the marker, then you can thread it. It makes it much easier.
Thank you! Definitely going to take away the only black or white thread, this sounds like it will save so much time!! Thank you for explaining everything so well! Off to learn more about your scrunchie stick! xxx
While I am unlikely to make masses and masses of scrunchies, I do have three daughters and two nieces each with friends who they like to gift Xmas presents to so this could be extremely useful even on a domestic level lol! Thank you for taking the time to produce the tutorial :)
Your videos are so helpful. If I may ask, what size (length/width) do you cut your elastic. Also, is there an advantage of using wide elastic compared to say a 1/4 inch wide elastic? TFS!
Would you please share exactly what kind (brand, style, width, length, etc) of elastic that you use? Do you use braided or knit elastic? Which do you find to be most durable? Is there a certain brand you prefer? Thank you !
Thank you so much for this video ! I'm sure gonna use some of this tips. I currently use really thin elastic cause I feel like it stretch the best . what kind of elastic do you use ? does it stretch too ?
I don’t really have any left over from cutting scrunchies, I just make smaller scrunchies if I get to the end of the fabric. I used to make bows from off cuts but I changed my scrunchie sizes
What kind of glue do you use?. Having trouble finding a quick drying one. Granddaughter and I love your videos. She has learned so much from you. Thank you
I love this! How do you tie off your thread once you’ve sewn in your table? I’m afraid of mine coming undone if I don’t tie a knot but it’s so time consuming!
I never backstitch them. Over 20000 made in 3 years with no issues at all. When I sew across the opening in the 1mm stitch it closes everything up and makes it all secure 🙂
i had an idea for threading elastic! you could attach a small alligator clip or something to the tip of the flippy stick. Clip the elastic and slip the tube over it, maybe while holding the bottom of the elastic. i loathe poking my fingers with safety pins haha. Great video tho (:

Try Light grey thread, it is a neutral colour perhaps better than white. 🇨🇦
or invisible stretch fabric

Im making scrunchies for some work friends, and this helped ALOT!!! very appreciated
Love the way you explain things as it’s straightforward and I totally get what you say, love your tips, thanks for this awesome video
Instead of fabric glue I normally hand sew but I never tried fabric glue! And the ends all together is a life saver!

Beautiful method. What ratio do you use for elastic to fabric length?
Game changer. Want to make these to sell at our annual quilt show. Each guild member is to contribute something to the “boutique”

Thankyou for you tutorial. I’m teaching a class of kids who have asked to make scrunchies. ❤
Thank you for this. I've seen so many videos and honestly I couldn't figure out how they were putting the scrunchie together lol this way is much more simpler ❤️

Can we make a scrunchy with not many things
Thank you for teaching us to make a scrunchy your videos are so helpful and maybe we can subscribe to it and like you
Oh my goodness! I need one of those sticks.
Would you please share exactly what kind (brand, style, width, length, etc) of elastic that you use? Do you use braided or knit elastic? Which do you find to be most durable? Is there a certain brand you prefer? Thank you !
Thank you so much for this video !

I currently use really thin elastic cause I feel like it stretch the best . what kind of elastic do you use ? does it stretch too ?
Hola la verda que veo el video y no entiendo nada gracias
Great tips! Prewinding bobbins... why have I not been doing that? 🤦🏼♀️
Thanks Claire! 🥰
Thank you for sharing. Love your system in making many scrunchies fast.
Can you tell me where you got your garter from 🙏😊
Loved the video! Thks it helped a lot. A quick question: at the end when you close it all, do you sew the elastic in the middle or on the side?
In the middle 😄
I'm trying to make some to sell to make a little extra money so I learned a lot from you, thanks!
You should try using a Bodkin for pulling the elastic through the tubes.
Thank you Tonia! They look very nifty I’ll have to try source one 😁
@@TaylahRose I was just about to comment the same thing! LIFE SAVER!!!!!!
I use a pen, and I just drop it down with the fabric on it , homemade bodkin 😅
Hi how do you determine the length of elastic for the different sizes of scrunchies
What do you do with the left over fabric after cuttinh?
I don’t really have any left over from cutting scrunchies, I just make smaller scrunchies if I get to the end of the fabric. I used to make bows from off cuts but I changed my scrunchie sizes
Thanks for the tips and tricks 👍💖
Thank you for watching!
Gracias voy a comenzar reciclando muchos retazos. BN tengo bastante elástico , y compré una mini Maquina estoy feliz
Please advise the name of the fabric glue and where you buy it?
Hey taylah... Try using a bodkin to thread the elastic
thank you so kind to provide details
I’m surprised that your elastic is so wide, thanks for sharing your technique!
Yes especially for all of us with thin hair... that's way too much bulk
Best ideas for quick and easy.
That glue holds even when washed? Thank you.
Hi Taylah, please what's the measurements for the materials used?
Thanks
Great tips. Thanks
This was a great video, thank you so much!
I have got the very same sewing machine😊
@taylah I'm new to sewing silk scrunchies. What thread to use? ❓ I'm a beginner and learning. Any tips? greatly appreciated. 🙏 I have brother machine.
7 years!? Well wow thank God for the new found hope I found from that sentence
are scrunchies still that popular?
Hi Taylah! yey finally you're already uploaded this video. 😍 and you're looking pretty always ❤️
Thank you so very much 💞☺️☺️
What size and where do you get that wide elastic?
Thanks for sharing. Love it
Wow, clever! Thanks.
Helpful bulk-sewing tips thank you so much :)
thank you! my partner loves scrunchies so im trying to find a way to make them a bunch as a surprise
Could you tell me how long you make the elastic? Your videos have been very helpful!!!
This scrunchy converter is great
Thanks so much!
Hi ..ur r my inspiration...for 1meter how many scrunchies v can make ...
What kind of glue do you use?. Having trouble finding a quick drying one.
Granddaughter and I love your videos. She has learned so much from you.
Thank you
Good do you make the labels? That's what I've always wondered. Thanks for the video, great techniques!! 👍❤️
Yay! I've been waiting for this video. I'm getting for a market myself. And I need to make a bunch of scrunchies and bows.
Thanks so much! ☺️
Thanks for these tips. This surely will save me alot of time. Where do you get your elastic?
watching from Philippines , love your videos, thanks for sharing !
Thank you! 😁
Hello.. I have a question for you. Which type of cloth is best for making scrunchies? Do you use cotton to make scrunchies?
This was great thanks for the tips! You make it look super easy... wish me luck lol
Thank you! 😁 you’ll do great!
How do I get a wood pole like the one you use to turn the fabric inside out
You can make it! I have a video on my fabric flipper on my RUclips
Thank you so much for sharing. 👍🤩
How many centimeters do you cut the elastic at?
I love this! How do you tie off your thread once you’ve sewn in your table? I’m afraid of mine coming undone if I don’t tie a knot but it’s so time consuming!
On the sewing machine you just use a back stitch and it locks the stitch in place you don’t need to tie off anything 💗
@@amyajohnson4365 Oh awesome! Also, this video blew my mind. I will forever be bulking my process haha!
@@amyajohnson4365 I was wondering the same thing, because it doesn't look like she back tacs.
Clever of you, thanks for sharing!
Thank you so many tips for me to start a hobby
Hi can you please share where in Australia to buy the bulk elastic thank you 💕
Great tutorial!
Hi, do you not need to backstitch the long strips?
I never backstitch them. Over 20000 made in 3 years with no issues at all. When I sew across the opening in the 1mm stitch it closes everything up and makes it all secure 🙂
@@TaylahRose ok thats great. Thank you so much. Love your work.
Thank you! ☺️☺️
How long is each elastic for one scrunchie?
For threading elastic I use a chopstick with a safety pin tied to the end. Very quick and easy.
Gracias
you can try the burrito scrunchie method
It wouldn’t work with my wide elastic unfortunately
i had an idea for threading elastic! you could attach a small alligator clip or something to the tip of the flippy stick. Clip the elastic and slip the tube over it, maybe while holding the bottom of the elastic. i loathe poking my fingers with safety pins haha. Great video tho (:
Are you cutting 4" wide?
What do you sell them for?
Do have a link to the elastic that you use?
Wait omg can you show that stick turning in slo mo? So cool! Is that only for knits?
I use it for almost all my scrunchies! It’s on my RUclips channel search flip stick ☺️
i don't make scrunchies, i make masks, but ur idea of sewing then cutting has given me an idea for my panel pasks.
I love it, thank you❤️
Hi Taylah - you said a metre wide but what about the length? thanks xx
