      I cut the big scrunchies 7’’ wide and the length can be from 40”- 50” depending on weight of fabric and how it gathers. I try to just use width of fabric without the selvage and adjust it from there if it looks too full. I have a couple other videos on scrunchies and will be uploading another one soon showing how to turn loops if you want to make it that way. Have a great day!!

    Thank you very nice tutorial. How did you keep your satin fabric from fraying? Mine was fraying so badly it made everything more difficult.

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  3 года назад +1

      Hi Diane, the satin I use is stretch satin and the fraying is manageable. Regular satin can be a nightmare sometimes. If you don’t already have one, invest in a pair of good pinking shears and cut the edges with them. Having it as zig zag cut will help with the fraying so you can at least get them sewn and then it’ll fray inside later. You could also serge or overlock around first. Of course if you are in production, that is a bit of a waste of time. You could also apply fray stop around edges first if you are just making a few. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching. Please check out some of my other videos. I have a few more on scrunchies too. Cheers!

      I don’t prewash the fabric as I don’t worry about shrinkage for a scrunchie. For clothing and projects that get washed a lot, I definitely prewash. Thanks for washing.

    • @bellaswan1459
      @bellaswan1459 2 года назад

      Sew the ends then fold one side as small as you can so you don't sew it and then sew down the other side continue tell about to fingers at the end pull the fabric and continue once you get towards the end you already sewed back stitch, cut and put your elastic in then close shut. If you still confused look for burrito style scrunchies

    I want to make some scrunchies but they come in different sizes. A picture in someones hair would help. I have thick hair jaw length and my daughter has long thick curly hair yet we wear the same size. I was fast forwarding looking for a size/picture maybe I missed.

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  3 года назад

      all details in description. Best thing for you to do is cut a longer length of elastic , tie into knot but don’t close scrunchie. If you need to adjust the elastic , it is easy for you to make shorter and then close the seam. You don’t need to cut the fabric exactly like I have, you can make any size you like. Cheers!
