- A look at a limited edition Retro 1951 Tornado rollerball pen. Commemorates the SR-71 Blackbird reconnaissance airplane. One of the most unique planes ever made. Only 32 aircraft were built. One of the first with a low radar image. Flew high & fast, Mach 3.2 at 85,000 feet. Was never lost to enemy fire. The pen captures the plane. My other Retro pen video - • Retro 51 Pen Review

Talking about stealth pens ... on a whim, I got a HongDian 517D from Bobby’s site and was very impressed. It’s an all black pen that looks and feels nice, but I was very impressed with the nice nib it had. It has a small #5 black nib that wrote very smoothly right out of the box.
I agree, great small pen. Well made. Enjoy.
Great pen, one of the best best Tornadoes yet. Seen the GoldSpot Pizzas?
Just looked at "The Pizza" very Jersey. Retro makes a lot of pens. Something for everyone. Thanks for watching.
Great pen and great video as usual. FYI: The Schmidt "short" rollerball refill and the Parker ballpoint refill are actually two different form-factors. The Retro 51 pens are somewhat outliers in that they can take EITHER style refill, which is great and opens up a world of possibilities. Stay inky!
Thanks for that! I am not versed in these refills. Stay safe & healthy.
Nice and unexpected philosophy and economics lesson :D
Thanks! 😃 Sometimes I get motivated.
Great video sir, I just bought my first retro Saturday, that night bought another on Amazon, and received it the same time I was watching this video, amazing, thank you.
Thank you for watching. Glad to hear my video was timely.
Will be changing my order from a Discovery for one of these.
I have several of these including a Crorsair f/pen tornado rollerball and a Discovery tornado on order. I have heard that Retro 51 are looking for a buyer as the current owner wants to retire.
Chris, what a wonderful amble off the beaten path, with insights that many of us might not otherwise obtain. I rarely if ever use rollerballs, yet I could not resist the NASA rocket trio when it was availabe, and even went on to get the desk base which puts them in "launch positio". Puerely a nostalgia trip. But then so impressed was I with the quality of theose pens, that I bought a P-51 Mustang fountain pen. It's a great pen for the price, solid and dependable. Does it bring the satisfaction of a great vintage pen, or a modern M1000 or 149? Of course not, but well worth the money. (I am old enough to remember when the P-51 was in service, and what a beautiful plane it was.)
These pens bring back memories. One of the goals of Retro-51.
Getting out of the bubble, next stop:mechanical pencils. What happened with your favourite subscriber? Haven't seen him here lately.
I have shown some mechanical pencils when part of a set. I don't have a favorite subscriber. Who do you see as a favorite?
chrisrap52 I saw that Montblanc set, wich was quite nice, but that mp doesn't represent what other brands have to offer nowadays. That gentleman that coments all your videos and 90% of the times it's just "Thank you Chris".
Anzan, we are friends thru RUclips. I heard from him a few weeks ago. With all that is going on he is probably very busy.
