- There's some more voodoo magic cookin' up in the Video Dungeon this week, Dumpster Dwellers! Kwame's up and coming rap group are made an offer they can't refuse by a local gangster, Big Pere. But instead of making a deal, they make a fool of him which puts Kwame's gran in the hospital. Using the power of the dark magic that flows through his blood line, Kwame summons the help of the evil Shadow Man to enact his revenge. Bringing gran's once harmless Ragdoll to life, Shadow Man turns it into a possessed killing machine! The only catch is, for each life the Ragdoll takes in revenge, a life must be taken from the people Kwame loves.
Joining us on this episode are Jarrod and Steve of the @PuppetMastersCastleFreaks Podcast to discuss all things Charles Band, and conjure up some insight on Full Moon's foray into urban horror. I habe a soft spot for urban horror but there are really only TWO great ones, People Under the Stairs and Candyman.
Probably because they were 90s ans they werent hammering you over the head with identity politics. It was just horror in the hood. Kt wasnt trying to push a message just tell a story in that environment. They were great.

Tales from the hood is top tier. People under the stairs deals with racist white trash and they stomp those bigots. A fantastic movie

There are so many films that are worse, and for what it is and how it was made, it’s actually above average especially for direct to video movies at the time.
They find their dead friend on the porch, then he sends her down the street to call for help. Like, there wasn’t a phone in grandma’s house? She had to conjure up pizza deliveries. No phones here!

Full Moon deeper cuts are an acquired taste for sure, that being said I have that taste and love this era. Killjoy is still to this day a beloved guilty pleasure movie of mine
I like all those full moon urban entertainment movies they produced. Like that Vault movie, and horrible doctor bones, even the first couple killjoy movies

I ended up leaving work two hours early tonight (..blamed my hernia (blessing in disguise)) to catch the final showing of 'Sting' at Marcus Point. Man... that movie.. not sure if you saw it, but it gave me sort of a claustrophobic vibe that had me on edge. I wasn't sure if I was going to recommend it, UNTIL that last half-hour.. I am still jumbled with emotion and digesting everything.
If the first hour was a blind unicyclist on a diving board, the last half hour would be them landing The Triple Lindy. I genuinely think this movie will continue to mentally unfurl.
