Awesome episode. It floored me first watching this knowing the history of the videogame and it's impact on the genre. More people need to check this film out.
Never heard of this flim or game and i play a few resident evil games saw your pic just fin watching the flim very gd happy Halloween to all the dumpster out there
I watched this movie on Halloween like four years ago or maybe a little more. My girlfriend hated it, but I loved it so much I played the whole game immediately after watching it. Really ahead of it's time. Also, great to see Kieran!
I just watched the new AVGN episode and I couldn't help but notice a little cameo by "The Greatest Joe On Earth", Joe "The Show" La Scola, plus he was responsible for the makeup. But wait! That's not all! I also noticed in the credits that Sean "The Golden Child" O'Rourke helped edit that shit.
Holy hell, I didn’t realize there was a live action Wicked City! Maybe we can can do a double episode again with the anime and live action. Thanks for watching! 🙏💚📼 -Joe
@@MovieDumpster it's nowhere near as good as the anime, but it is still worth a watch, as it goes off on it's own tangent. All I have to say is there is a scene where someone fux a biomechanical pinball machine.
Nice. I just watched this recently. Really wish there was a better quality release of it available. Even the best copies online are very muddy looking.
Its funny I just watched the movie because like you guys said its on RUclips and wow what a blast. This is a movie if its on Bluray Im totally buying this movie. Nice to see Kieran again. Keep on the good work Movie Dumpster. 👍
I found a version on Internet Archive. Not a great quality, but for a late 80s Japanese horror movie, that is also a tie in for a game, I’m not expecting something crisp. Even if I found the laserdisc. I’m more than accustomed. I’m also not surprised it’s hard to find, but it’s like Capcom and Togo really didn’t give a crap about preserving this.
Oh man, this is such a good episode i had to watch it twice to catch it all. I love the amount of research you all do. You make me interested in stuff i never even heard of before. Keep going with these Japanese films. Evil Dead Trap was awesome and the Ultraman episode is great. All of that and you have Kieran. This episode is up there with your Predator 2, Killer Clowns, and Ultraman episode as one of my favorites. Keep up with the great content guys. Have a great Halloween.
Went ahead and watched the RUclips video you referenced. Thanks for the heads up about the trailer at the beginning. I really enjoyed it. Pretty crazy movie. All the actors were great. The Yamamura actor has the coolest voice. That scene when he saves Emi was awesome the effects were so cool. Thanks again for the recommendation. Well worth the watch. Also, I've watched this review 4 times and have laughed out loud every time...😂. Have a great November guys.
I know a lot of people have said this, but I want to thank you and James for your work on the AVGN Halloween episode. James and you are both at your best in this episode. By the way, is it true that James said he defeated Jekyll and Hyde on FC ?
8:34 I think one of the reasons you haven't seen this on blu-ray (and maybe never will) is because the director Kiyoshi Kurosawa has all but disowned this (much like Michael Mann and *The Keep (1983)* Jūzō Itami (the wise man who helps them out) was also a producer on the film, and (much like *Poltergeist)* there was the rumor that he was heavily influencing the direction of the film, to the point where Kiyoshi felt he was just a gun for hire. That would explain why the rest of his films like *Cure* and *Pulse* almost feel like different films. It is a shame... I always felt that this was as if 1970's/80's Dario Argento filmed a movie in Japan (especially the "key" shot in the beginning, which you can see a bit here: 28:44). You never know... Vinegar Syndrome just released both *Bloodsucking Freaks* and *Rabid Grannies* in 4K, and both of them look fantastic! 36:43 hmm.. it looks like there are 4 birds or peacocks on the axe head. I wonder if this is a *Bird with the Crystal Plumage* reference. 54:41 that is definitely lifted from the finale of *Suspiria* when Suzy knocks into the table in Helena Marcos' room and knocks over the billiard balls. 57:27 of all people who should know about a Cairn, you would think Kiernan would know. 58:00 you could be right that he is supposed to be the husband. I felt there was a chance the mother put the baby into the furnace, that kind of like Norman Bates she couldn't face that fact so she made up the story for her sanity. I could see Vinegar Syndrome releasing this. They just put out *Bloodsucking Freaks* and *Rabid Grannies* in 4K!
I've noticed that RUclips has screwed with the HTML coding for replies. You can't use italics or bold functions anymore, nor is there a "read more" tab to click on to read the rest of a reply. EDIT: okay, it's back again. It seems to come and go over the past month.
Yo guys, I love it that Kieran back, but please do a review on Street Fighter Chun Li, I remembered it from the last episode Kieran was on, anyways keep doing what you’re doing, loving it you guys.
Jûzô Itami apparently was attacked before by the yakuza when he made an anti yakuza satire called Minbo: the Gentle Art of Japanese Extortion they attacked beaten and slashed him on the face
Wow! I'd never heard of sweet home, but after this, I have to watch this. Thank u gentlemen for always broadening my Horizon. Kieran, don't stay away so long next time 💀🤘
YAY KIEEEERAN!!!! Miss you man, hope all is well. Forget those haters, we love ya man. Also Joe loved seeing you in the AVGN episode and the makeup you applied to James. Sean always good to see ya man. You guys going to do a halloween costume video?
Medieval enthusiast here. About that axe, and it being made of silver. I get it's a joke but it made me think of something that annoys me about ghost media. They often say Iron can repel, or in some cases damage a spirit. Except iron isn't what you want a weapon made out of. Steel is ideal. Steel is made from iron though so really any weapon should work for that. I doubt that axe is much more than 30 pounds. With how top heavy it looked if it were 100 pounds I doubt anyone in that family could carry it. Even 30 is really heavy. I'm of course being nitpicky and it's a prop so it's probably pretty light.
But Survival Horror is a gender for video game not for movie ... And about the game the first Survival Horror is Alone In The Dark (1992) And Sweet Home is a role-playing video game
The movie and game were made and released simultaneously. It’s survival horror RPG, we talk about it in length in the episode and played it after we filmed this.
He’s hanging out in the corner like we said in the episode! 😂 He actually left the show before our 5th season for personal reasons, but he’s doing great!
Man are you not wrong. I beat little nemo and thought that had to be one of the hardest games ever. I started sweet home thinking I could get through it pretty easy and quickly. within 5 minutes one of my characters died. I keep going and decide to see if I can use a walk through. I then discover to get the good ending I need them all to live. 5 minutes one died without any effort from my opposition. I gave up and haven't played it since and beat like other notoriously hard games like every megaman x, or ghost and goblins. Went back to sweet home. Same shit happened. I just can't do it.

Thanks for having Kieran on. I genuinely missed him from the AVGN movie reviews and Hack the Movies.
Wasn't he producer but left Cinemassacre?😢
Kieran! I miss him. Probably because we have most of the same opinions on games and movies
Love seeing KIEEEEEEEEERN back on the screen again, guys an underrated gem!
Nice to see Kieran on a show where he's appreciated
If it isn't the Dumpster Boys along with the immortal German pop-star, KIEEEEERN! Can only be a good time for us this Halloweekend!
Holy heck!, it's Kieran!, nice to see you again dude, you were sorely missed. Just watched the new AVGN ep, nice work guys.
That pink dress at the end was worth avgn nerely having breakdown haha
Nothing makes me happier than a lengthy conversation involving even a sliver of Resident Evil. Much love to all 3 of you gentlemen. Happy Halloween.

Great episode, and awesome to see Kieran back again! He was my favorite movie review guest on the other channel back in the day.
Thanks for watching and glad you liked it! 🙏💚📼
Love it when Kieran makes an appearance. All the guests are fun, but Kieran is the link between video games and movies.
That’s why he was perfect for this ep!
WHATTTTT KIERAN! Good to see you doing QUALITY material.

Kieran, i have been dying without my K- to multi-e, ran! I have had Josh and kieran withdrawl for over a year now.

It’s also from Wrong Turn 4! That’s the clip we used, but I guess the verdict is still out on that 😂
Damn Skippy, never heard of this but I will feel like I have when the episode is over

Another great episode! I was hoping to see Kieran at Magfest. Was part of a STARS cosplay group.
Don't know if anyone mentioned it and I missed it, but around the 1:20:00 mark, the movie was Wrong Turn 4. With the bleak snowmobile ending.
