As a 5 year old I was never scared of the doll but Karen Black at the end with her creepy ass smile in a caveman stance scared the hell outta me for weeks 😂

I watched this on WSBK TV Boston. They had a late night movie show called "The Movie Loft". I loved that doll as a kid!

I haven't seen these movies, but that Zuni fetish doll is one of those things I've seen referenced in other movies and pop culture before. I love that you guys are still arguing about whether a rat is giant or not every time one appears! As for The Graveyard Rats segment, nowadays they'd just change the "cousins" thing to step-siblings, ha.
I'm 46 years old and have no shame in saying that doll still freaks me TF out. I love collecting horror movie props, but I'd NEVER bring that doll into my house😅 Also the last shot in the original "Bobby" freaked me TF out😢
Sad I missed the premier but I absolutely love this movie. I saw it with my dad on Svengoolie on a Saturday night and it was just the best time. We laughed so hard when the African doll comes alive and stabs through the suit case and the door like how does it have the strength lol. The wig lady was my favorite. Kept you on your feet. @Movie Dumpster
Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark (1973) is another TV movie classic.
The 1970s was great time for TV horror.
2:06:06 Not only was Geoffrey Lewis (who passed away in 2015) indeed a lifelong Scientologist, but so, for all intents and purposes, was Karen Black (she joined in 1964 at around the age of 25, and remained a practising member until her death in 2013). In fact, Juliette Lewis was friends with Black, whom she considered a mentor and a 'second mother', and even lived in Black's home for a brief period of her youth.
That is crazy! Juliette Lewis is a great actress so that's awesome to hear.

I think Karen Black died a few years after Devils Rejects and the reason she didn't return for that one was because she wanted a pay raise and Rob Zombie said no. She was also in Children of the Corn 4 lol. I like both these movies and the blurays are worth owning even though the first is out of print and really pricey online. I believe the Zuni Doll also had a cameo in the first episode of the Stephen King show Nightmares and Dream Scapes in the episode Battleground about killer toys vs a hit man.

Trilogy of terror and movies of the week were freakin awesome..kudos for diving into this, dark towers was a daily show.. I watched when I was 8 or 9 years old.
We had monster magazines, creepy, eerie, horror magazines.. made me what I am today!😎🤘🤘
My parents would have never let me read that .. but my best buds dad bought them. They were the best… then my best bud showed his dad’s collection of playboys!😂

I Definitely was under the impression that Julie from the first segment was using some sort of magic or love spell on her students to implant the idea of her in their heads! I kinda thought that we were going to see a spell book when she was looking in her scrapbook before we saw what she was doing. So in my mind, she was using magic.
I think it’s just the allure of sleeping with not only an older woman, but a teacher to boot. That’s how I read it, almost like it would be easy for Chad to snag a coed but it would be a challenge for him to get Eldritch. -Joe

It freaked me out more than Chucky
Hellraiser is not verbatim to the book, they cut out a whole character for example, the lady of tongues, Larry and Julia are in their 20's, Frank ressurects and is trapped in the walls of the house at first, the box is black and featureless and he buys it in Germany, Pinhead barely appears in the book and the engineer isn't even mentioned in the film but plays a prominent part in the book.
It’s pretty faithful in terms of overall story. What you’re mentioning are the small changes I meant. -Joe
