- This is the story of Sneha Philip who mysteriously disappeared on amidst the tragic attacks of 9/11.
When 19 al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four American planes and crashed them into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001, it was almost certain death and destruction would follow. Almost 3,000 people died during the attacks, including 41 from India. Hundreds of thousands of Indians were working and living in New York on that fateful day, including Sneha Philip, a 31-year-old doctor. Sneha was last seen walking the streets of Manhattan the morning of the attacks, before vanishing into thin air.

Sadly, here, In the US you just cant run away or vanish w/o a trace. Everything is linked to your social security card, your phone bank accounts and identity,
you cant work, cant have a house or apt, cant live in a hotel, cant have a phone, cant own a car, cant do anything without state issued identity. And she was an MD with a certain level of lifestyle raised in the comforts of a American mallu home. The FBI can track the minutest detail for any activity in her bank accounts on her life which has been inactive for the last 13 yrs, plus she will be charged for forging an identity. Thr people who have managed to vanish have left for other countries.. which ahould require years of planning and a trail of evidence and research. That too during the 9/11 airports were on extreme high alert. You just cant even be in the streets homeless w/o an identity here. The post card sent is fake and has been tested for DNA and location. She is dead sadly and duely deserves respect for her heroic efforts.
The post card means nothing, it can be anyone wanting to write their thoughts linking 9/11 and death or even rebirth, how can it be concluded that out of literally millions of people that can write a postcard, Sneha wrote it

Ahh i love these desi crime stories.
I am all for the theory that she ran off due to her issues or problems with her sexuality… as to her being in CCTV footage it might be part of the plan or just a coincidence of grabbing something from her house for the last time, or she came to the elevator, remembered that she forgot the bags and left the building to grab them and 3 minutes later coincidentally terrorizing act happened and she used the attacks!
As to why would someone have a conversation with their family is simple, if you were not Heterosexual in the 2000s desi family you have to maintain the picture of “normalcy”

That alone doesn't mean someone is gay, but her brother said he found his sister and his girlfriend in a 'sexual act' in his apartment. He said the three of them were drinking, he ran out to go to the liquor store, and when he came back he walked in the apartment and so the two of them fooling around. He didn't elaborate on what it was, but it was sexual. Several things lead to either she was a lesbian,, or experimenting.

she wasn't such a beautiful lady. she was a lesbian who married a man to put on a show for her traditional family to save face. she was also a drug addict. she was routinely late to work. this is a beautiful woman? who knows what other secrets she was hiding...you must be a fool or really naive and easily tricked in life if you think that.

I was born after 2000 so I dunno landline… what a silly thing to say. Even till 2010s my family had a landline. You will still see them at airports and reception desks and offices.. tons of movies and shows have them. Its such a simple device to use. How can someone not know how it works!!

You can’t last minute just decide to “walk away” from your life with nothing prepared and planned. Where could she have gone that day in the chaos and with everything shut down? And where would she have money to support herself all this time ? What do she be doing without her passport and ID ? And who could help her with her plan to run away on demand ?
To me the most sense she got killed the night before
100% agree. It is too difficult in the modern world to run away and start a new life. That theory doesn't make sense, and it's also unlikely that she was missing for 14 hours and then randomly was in the WTC attack.
I agree that her being met with foul play the night before is the most logical explanation. I think her killer or killers got lucky that the chaos of the attacks derailed the investigation.

sneha is a great example of why I never wanted nor had kids - MORE will go wrong than right. her parents invested all that time effort energy and she's dead, just like that. what a waste. most people end up average, not even reaching the level of sneha. imagine that.
I don´t think she left the country in such situation to me but i believe she was struggling with her identity when was caught with the girlfriend i feel she wanted to try more than a conventional marriage.

My son had a friend in college that came from this culture its very high demanding for some kids. He was u n der so much pressure to be a good doctor he broke. If she was having those kinds of problems i could see that she may have walked away but its extremely unlikely. Its really hard to disappear

IIRC back in the day, it was easier to check your cell VM from a landline than from the cell phone itself and for some time after many people would still do it this way (as well as use cell to check landline VM box).
Maybe she just died in that attack n they were too desperate to find her so it's just messed up .
She must be part of the unaccounted dead. I doubt if someone just disappears like that to eacape an unsatisfactory life.

Maybe she made a friend in the twin tower and got a hotel room. She did say to her mum she was going there. She probably went on the 10th and never left the building.
if she ran away what happened to no activity on her accounts and phone, no one will leave their money to gather dust and she will need money to start a new life in the meantime, sad for the family.
It seems like to me that she died in 7/11 perhaps helping people as she was a doctor of course. Or she changed her plans and went to Windows of the World 🌍 on September 11.
This story doesn't cover did her cousin Anu, whom she was expecting the next day ever turned up? Or infact not invesigated if Anu had any last minute call with Sneha ? Looks like the whole thing is covered up which seems to be a murder.
When Ron came home that night when Sneha was out w/o informing him, why didnt he call her frnds to check if shes there with em? Atleast he'd an idea about her whereabout rather than sleeping completely clueless.

I was living there near to Mahattan, and many took the opportunity to vanish them self from their old lifes and never came back, on the name of there dead. But still there are husband who came back after had a worst lifestyle instead of succesful

Yes Annu was coming, it means the two were shopping together. Ron mentioned that she usually used to come the same time after spending the night at friend's place, loke it was her routine.
To the theory about Sneha spending the night at her friend's place:
--> maybe she totally forgot about her bags, but heard the noise and ran out to see what was going on and to help
--> and if she suddenly remembered that she had left her bags somewhere, maybe wanted to go back to get them (and THEN saw the chaos happening at ground zero and wanted to help -as you mentioned in the video)
AND the reason the person who was with Sneha they day before didn't come forward, was because they passed on 9/11 too.!?
In the heavy rain Sneha must've gone to meet up with somebody cos no way she would've walked home w her heavy bags in a rainstorm. (and we clearly know she did NOT go home) Which also indicates that if she went to a friend, her friend must be living very close to the WTC as well.
(Her unidentified friend mightve been at the WTC or somewhere near it, got killed/"went missing" when the towers fell. Thus wasn't able to come forward at all.)
There are so many people who were never identified, so many people who went missing on 9/11. We'll never know who that person was, because maybe they are no more.

Well they said in the beginning she didn't have a cell phone. In 2001 probably many people didn't have their own cellphones.

if sneha's husband didn't link her going missing to 9/11 the case might've never gotten the attention it needed in order to find leads...
there was a polish man henryk siwiak who was killed on 9/11. he went to look for work because the construction site where he worked at had to close due to the attacks. his case is still unsolved and largely forgotten due to nypd dropping the ball as they couldn't launch full investigation because everyone was working on 9/11. some believe he stumbled upon drug deal and it went wrong, or it was a hate crime as someone mistook him as arab. his english was very poor and also he wore a camo jacket. very sad stuff

It’s obvious she was either kidnapped or killed or absconded to start a new life somewhere .hw could u nt find her body even if she perished at ground zero .coz only so much of area was covered .if at all she was at the site when the building were collapsing she wld have ample time to clear the place while it was collapsing .the other only way she was connected to wtc attack was maybe she was inside the building the morning of 9/11 and she could be trapped inside the building unable to get out while it was under fire.No one knew abt her whereabouts then coz she dint inform anyone abt where she was then .

This is culture differences. We born in 1960s and 70s in India, prefer same gender friends. When I came to US at the age of 23, I still had that culture with me. I remember running to my best friend and hugging her because I had not seen her for long time. She pushed me away, saying people will think we are lesbian. In India we were not allowed to hug opposite gender, and here we were not allowed to hug the same gender. Her hanging out with female friends probably made people jump to conclusion.

Here's a theory:
Ron had a serious argument.
He lost his temper & hit her with an object. At the time Sneha was drunk & the blow turned lethal. Sneha collapsed & died on the spot.
Ron checked her pulse - she was dead. Ron packed her body in a bag not knowing what to do.
Came 9 11.
And whole city was in turmoil.
Ron saw the opportunity.
He disposed the bag in a dump in New Jersey where it would not be opened or the body detected.
After coming back to his apartment Ron raised the alarm & tried to co include his wife's missing with 9 11.
My summary is :
Ron hit her but did not intend to kill her. But having covered up for 20 + years he owes an apology to Sneha's parents for having played innocent.
I am sure FBI knew he did this - it's a case of accidental death & second degree murder.
Since they had their Manhattan file overflowing they let this one go into unsolved.
Ron is lucky.
But Where went the morals ???

Husband killed her, or she had an affair. Bought lingerie and clothes to leave at her lovers place along w new bedding. She wanted to escape her life. Probably had a very disciplined upbringing, married young, waited for her husband for a year to catch up in schooling. Husband was embarrassed she may have been embarrassed and not able to come out in a religious family. Much, much more to the story.
