    When You torque the spacer to spec and the studs protrude slightly, I’ve noticed some aftermarket wheels that actually have gabs in the back of the wheel. Making it so that you don’t have to trim the studs. I thought this was neat.

    AWESOME. I have eBay open in another tab and in my cart is Standard Billet Spacers. I saw this and checked to see if the spacers had the hubcentric ring and they did NOT so I immediately REMOVED them from my cart. I did locate another source and made sure I got the hubcentric spacers. That really was perfect timing Thank You... You have a subscriber for life now ! ! !

    Old video, but great knowledge. This happened to me back in 06 before I could be Instagram famous lol. The shop told me the spacer was made of pot metal and was a piece of crap. I was young and naive but the whole ordeal made me never want to use spacers again... I’m wiser now and it I can pull it off in the future with a good brand, I’d give them another try

  • @tylergibson1494
    @tylergibson1494 6 лет назад +3

    Nice video. Another reason for a wheel off would be because of the stud clips. It causes a small gap between the spacer (or aftermarket wheel) and the hub. Certain spacers and aftermarket wheels are designed to take these clips into account, but from what I have seen almost half of them do not.

    1.)eBay spacers are cast aluminum and when you wrench down on them they fracture, then your wheel comes off!
    2.) American made spacers a milled/machined from one chunk of aluminum
    3.) Cast, no good as far as strength.
    4.) Machined from one piece of superior material, Mucho Bueno

    I love this series, maybe you could look into following a build and giving price points, I know alotta people I worked/work with just stick with used tires because they're scared to look at prices, but they're investments really.

  • @CumminsCat
    @CumminsCat 5 лет назад +1

    Just pay attention when installing them, most of the issues listed here were from human error. I ran lug centric 1.25" spacers on a 4x4 97 Tacoma (20x10/33x12.50) for over 5 years with no issues. I always used Red Loktite on the stock lugs and torqued the spacer studs. Took it everywhere and never had a hiccup.

  • @shawncordeiro1150
    @shawncordeiro1150 4 года назад +1

    the tapered end of the lug nut seats itself in the tapered part of the spacer causing it to self center on the studs Anyways im getting custom made hub and wheel centic steel wheel spacers Also im gonna place 4 tack welds all way around to the brake rotor cause even thow its hub centeric the wheel rotating, torque still goes to the studs so small feathered tacks will take care of that AND not worry AS MUCH about taking wheel off and checking torque im so glade I found this channel great vids guys

    The correct way to space out ur wheels is to widen the axle, the manufacturer chose a specific factory wheel offset for good reason. Why u would ever want to prematurely ware down ur bearing and balljoints i have no idea.

      I used to run an industrial rip saw at work. We had to wear a lead filled Kevlar apron in case a post caught wrong and shot back. A guy got skewered before the apron became mandatory. Skewered by a rough planed 2" post is a horrifying image. On a side note. Always wear good safety goggles when cutting any metal. Just had to go get a rusty piece from work dug out of my eye. I was wearing safety glasses but they didn't wrap around well enough. That was miserable.

    Is it even possible to make a
    110mm centre bore? I think it will get in the way of the spacers nut insert?
    I know it's a huge size it's such a sexy steel wheel for my Datsun 620
    The problem I'm having is my brake Drum is kind of pre hubcentric and it's moulded similar to the steel wheels
    I'm having to run spacers because the drum fouls the wheel face
    Would I be better finding a flush drum brake instead of spaci g cutting studs down 2.7mm etc etc, I cannot get a hubcentric spacer for this wheel unfortunately
    A infiniti 25mm spacer fit's with 1.25 thread size
    If I'm not mistaken the datsun 620 is 27. 7mm of threaded bolt pertrusion

      have to make sure the spacers are hub centric to the hub, and the wheels are hub centric to the spacer, they do make plastic inserts if the sizes are off, but with spacers you should really make sure they are machined correctly to fit your truck and your wheels. email Sales@Customoffsets.com if you have further questions!

I bought 2inch Bora adapters, the shop guy didn't have to trim my studs down, but you said in this video that the difference was 1.75 that chevy trucks could go with. So if i put 2inch adapters on does that mean my rears are a little wider than the front? If it is i cannot tell by looking at it from all angles. I also have a 6inch Zone Off Road lift so i wanted to get rid of that pit bull look.

    I have a 2016 sierra Denali
    10" cognito lift
    38x13.50
    22x12 -44
    8-180
    I think the rear tires are set in a tad further than front. What would you suggest to even the setup out?
    Thx

      Sorry. I think all I need is around 1" to even it out.

    Half of the problems you speak about are customer knowledge problems, not spacer problems. The studs coming past the spacer isn't the spacers fault.

    Hey Custom Offsets, just a heads up, I had a brand new wheel fall off my brand new 2016 Ram 2500. It was caused by those little copper keepers on the studs holding the rotor on. The wheel fell off while I was driving through town. Talk about embarrassment. And a $6k bill worth of damage to my new truck. Now I'm Instagram famous as well lol

      Alex Kendall That should have been covered by warranty unless you fucked with the suspension voiding it or drove over the milage..

    i have a 2014 raptor and i want to install 1.5 inch spacers from custom wheels do i have to check on anything or trim my factory studs ? or will it work just fine ?

    • @CustomOffsetsTV

      2" spacers will be direct bolt on, and then install wheels, won't require stud cutting

    Great video! Very helpful! Question... I’m currently building a 02 Chevy S10 2wd and want to install 95 C4 Corvette sawblades wheels. So far I’ve gathered that I could run 3 inches front and 4 inches rear adapters. I will get BORA adapters but would like your advice since safety is the #1 priority. Thanks

    If you have time ti give me advice I'd really appreciate it.
    I have a 2015 f150 with XD brigade 20s with a +18 offset. 35" nittos Mt. I had these wheels on my 2011 f150 and they were sitting perfectly on it. But once I got the 2015 few years ago. I noticed that the wheels sat somewhat further in. It also rubbed on those 2x2 posts on the back side when in D and on the front side when in R under full lock left or right...
    Since then I've added the leveling kit and it has helped some but if I'm driving into a driveway coming at an angle with lock it'll still rub on those. Now I'm thinking to add spacer but I don't want to get a spacer that is not going to work properly or just simply isn't going to work.
    I feel Id like a slightly wider stance but don't want to jeopardize alignment.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

      Stacking spacers OR adapters is not recommended, for safety reasons Tech!
