    From my experience I worked for someone all my life until I decided to open my mobile detailing business and I love it . I make my own schedule and I make the decision for my business. I would never work for anyone else as long a God keeps me under his grace. You might have a lot of responsibility and it's constant work but it all pays off not having to ask someone for vacation time or for anything.

      @@KingTheDetailer great input and thanks for sharing. Let me ask you this - From your experience… Do you feel it was beneficial or would be beneficial for someone to work for someone else first to develop their detailing skills and business knowledge or better to just jump in on your own from the beginning and learn as you go?

    Another great video Jeff and thank you! I agree with your thinking related to employee compensation of providing a commission on the jobs and upsells to incentivize them. Regarding job security, quality of work and commitment will largely dictate that. Colored snow foam is a gimmick to me and doesn't add anything to the finished product. The only thing I can see good is that it can attract the eyes of passersby who may stop and ask about it and possibly lead to new business. Keep the videos coming brother!

    Another banger, I did have my employee on percentage for a little while 30% of every detail which is really pushing him to upcharge on every detail, thinking about putting him to hourly soon and commission like you said. What would you say a good starting $ amount for hourly and percentage? We are always around 100$ an hour or more for every job. Thanks Sir you're the man!!

    • @topstardetailing
      @topstardetailing  19 дней назад +1

      @@detailandcompany thank you brother! 🙏
      there are alot of different ways you can structure it - a higher hourly rate + a lower commission rate or vice versa. I just try to calculate it out so that it all averages out to somewhere between $25-$40 an hour (depending on the work they are doing for you) including hourly, commission, tips. Im usually right around that $100/hr work rate as well but you also have to account for all the expenses- fuel, products, insurance…etc it’s finding that balance to where the employee is happy and you’re also making a decent wage after subtracting out all the expenses.

      I just dump it in the street and it will dry up within 30 minutes or so... it's just soap and dirty water so it's not like you're dumping motor oil in the street or anything. I wouldn't recommend dumping the water down any drains or anything or the neighborhood Karens might complain.

    I appericate his drive & success but I did'nt appreciate his remarks about firing an employee if they don't get a 5 Star review. I say this as an Owner because ppl make mistakes & sometimes clients can be unrealistic or even harsh at times. If you've done detailing long enough - you know that to be true. So I would'nt take that approach with staff. I'm all for being firm but be fair. If not your employee retention will suck & ultimately that type of high turnover hurt the business.
