    After all the smack I talked about Color Analysis, I am finally giving it a go with Open Wardrobe's new color analysis service! It's definitely recommended as a guide vs strict rules, but I really wanted to play around with what colors do and don't suit me and also ways to style them (as recommended in the app)!

    I agree w the analysis--that you shouldn't wear true black (next to your face). You actually have black t-shirts that look good on you, but in reality they are faded black, i.e. charcoal. The colors of shoes and even pants is not as important as the colors you wear next to your face. So having a lot of black shoes is not an issue at all.

    I think you are a Spring. You look good in most things, which is an important clue as springs are known as the chameleons of the color analysis world. We can pull off most colors, we just look paler in soft/muted colors. You can test this yourself. Springs look terrible in dusty blue/ mauve, and can pull off most things, but shine in bright , light, and warm colors.

      @dormant_informant 2 месяца назад +1

      I also thought she leaned more towards Spring, maybe somewhere on the edge with either Winter or Summer: I think some cooler bright, saturated colours look really good on Alexa, which might be because of the bleached hair. Also, I think she looks great in pastels which are saturated colors that are lightened (as in mixed with white) as to muted colours which are deluted, toned down (as in mixed with grey). When she pulls out an item with deep or muted autumn colours they're nice but it doesn't pop. Some contrast and/or brightness work better for her in my opinion.
      Anyway these are my two cents as someone who been to art school and looks at colours a lot and is a self-proclaimed deep-winter/autumn : ]

    • @karengrohs4942
      @karengrohs4942 2 месяца назад

      @@dormant_informant I think the bleached hair is throwing people off to say spring. Her natural hair is ash blonde or ash light brown (cool). What does it for me is the comparison -- the muted colors make her face look better. Bright colors call attention to the color and make her face look washed out.

    • @lisabelw7782
      @lisabelw7782 Месяц назад +1

      Naw these are soft summer colors. Spring colors are more vibrant and have more yellow in them. The analysis is pegging her as neutral or cool toned which I would have to agree as she is more muted pinky and not yellowy. Her natural grow out is also a light ashy brown as opposed to golden.

    These outfits are cute, but I like your usual style much more! I studied art and colour theory, and tried some colour analysis apps. I still think it’s mostly bogus. They have some underlying theory to it, but it’s too generalised and doesn’t apply to a lot of people. Black and white can look good on everyone. Makeup and hair colour does absolutely affect what looks better. But mostly we should wear what we like and experiment and not be so prescriptive about it.

    Ooh I love color analysis content! It definitely can open your eyes to more possibilities and combinations, which I love. I like what you said about choosing items/colors depending on what impact you wanna go for, because that's exactly the point imo. Classic color analysis is about achieving some sort of harmony/balance, but if you like to go for something more edgy for example, you can use the same information to make different choices, like going for a color that's specifically not in your season/colortype.
    And I would recommend to go for an in person analysis if you truly want to know, in person is usually a lot more reliable then virtual. Also about your shoes, like you already said in the video, the most important things are the pieces around and close to your face, they have the most impact, so you can absolutely still wear your black shoes.

    I did this for a column I write last year. I applied it for two months and, while I see its perks, it just isn’t worth it for me to use. The issue was I enjoy bright, saturated colors and my season (Dark Autumn) weren’t exactly what makes me happy or even my style. Also, depending on the actual season you are in the year, it could be more difficult to find certain colors in store. The one thing I will say is that it’s meant as a guide and a good analyst will tell you that as long as a color isn’t close to your face, it doesn’t matter if you use it for bottoms or shoes.

    If anyone would like extra help figuring out their style/ wardrobe I also recommend Kiana Bonollo's video where she made her sewing mood board for 2023. She goes over finding fabrics you like the feel of as well as color palettes and silhouettes and while its intended for sewing I've been using for all aspects of my wardrobe and even started making my own style mood board and it has mad my hobbies (sewing, embroidery, crochet) and my clothes shopping so much easier to manage and so much less overwhelming.

    With that green cardi and grey pant, brown show combo I think it would pull together with a dark or black headband just because of the shoe base so it isn't so light up top with no head framing but rather pulled together and finished! Love it and very inspired 💗

      Although the black buttons on the added jacket also have same effect! Also the next look those blue jeans would look fab with a matching purple plum embroidery or seam at the base or down length to the high neck gorgeous plummy coloured top!

    the outfits are fire🔥🔥🔥 great harmonious color combinations! but I also think that you're spring. I'm usually good at telling which colors suit a person. It would be very interesting to see if you decide to go get your colors officially tested!🌟

      I agree. Soft summer. I am the same and have the same coloring as Alexa. The softer cool colors make her look great, and attention goes to her face, not the clothes.

    The approach you took with this was very smart. You’ve taken the suggestions you like, implemented them in a way that stays true to you, and didn’t let anything dictate your style. 👍👍😊 I have to say that brown mascara really does look so nice on you! It matches your eyebrows perfectly and makes it look like your lashes are naturally that long! 😻 Also, for ages I have been meaning to comment and say that I happened to see the footwear advertisement you were in! I actually saw it here on RUclips as an ad during someone else’s video! (I was like, HEY! It’s Alexa!!😄) It had to have been at least a month ago by now (before you made a quick mention of it in a past video!), but I kept forgetting to comment about it. Just wanted to say congrats on the opportunity, and I think you did an amazing job with it!!! 🤗👏

    I genuinely think you look good in everything and I also think the brighter contrasting colors make you pop way more! I’ve always thought that too and then seeing it side by side I preferred the bright white, red, and black to the softer colors. Your features looked more defined and bolder and you carry them so well. 😍😍 Also I’ve heard it’s really important to go to someone in person to do the comparison of colors IRL because the photo apps can skew things and not come out as accurately. TLDR: you look amazing in everything but the brighter colors you’ve always gravitated towards make you POP 🔥

    They listed "others notice your clothes before they see your face" as a negative, and I don't really think it's a bad thing. It's more like what you're ainimg for with your look. If you want to put an empahsis on your outfit, a contrasting look might make people focus on that more. If you want your features to be the main focus, then softer and more harmonious colors might be better.
    I generally get the point of color analysis, but I've alwasy been super against the whole "do this, not that" mentality that goes with it. Different colors do have different effects on the way you look, but I don't necessarily think one is better than the other for all people. It all depends on what you're trying to convey with your image. For example, looking pale might be a big no for some people, but others would actually want to acheive a paler look. So the first group would go for tones that make them look less pale, and the second- for ones that do emphasize paleness. Or as I said earlier, maybe you DO want the main focus point to be your outfit instead of your facial features.
    And then there's the whole debate around personal preference. For me, I've always prefered to wear colors that FEEL like me and match my personal vibe, rather than ones that just flatter my outside appearance. I see fashion as a reflection of your inner self. Something that's uniquely yours you're showing to the world. Now someone else might think of it more as a tool to accentuate the features they have. And that's totally valid, I think that's the group that would benefit the most from these color analysis type of services. It just comes down to what your personal wants and needs are. I do wish, however, that the whole thing was done in a less judgemental way, and more in a "this color has this effect, that color has that effect, feel free to choose what works for you" type of way.
    Beepworld has a great video on this topic that I highly recommend.

    I feel like incorporating more muted/in-between tones in your wardrobe (and moving away from overdoing white and black) is going to have an impact on how you put together outfits and what you pair together! I am soooo excited to see what you create going forward AND I support the search for more warm toned shoes :)

    I've done this twice with this app and both times came back clear. In color analysis that would put me as a Winter or Spring. I was draped in person, twice, by HOC and TCI and was draped a True Autumn both times. Open Wardrobe told me muted, earthy tones were not my best tones. Turns out they were way off!

  • @amberiscoool
    @amberiscoool 2 месяца назад +1

    You can honestly pull off everything! If I had to guess I would've said you're a light spring. Even though I agree with the app that you're more muted than bright, I think warmer tones suit you better than cooler ones and light suits you better than dark

    Several items came to mind watching - 1 - I hope you had fun and enjoy the information! 2 - I love color analysis for informing purchases bc there are so many things we are tempted to buy, this is one way for me to have excuses not to shop 3 - there are great stylists talking about decolonizing the ideas of ‘flattering’ and sometimes wearing ‘not your colors’ is The Look and knowing the rules can help one intentionally break them. I can’t wait to see what you do next! Also, the colors only matter around your face so your black shoes are safe ;)
