Furiosa GOES HARD! (2024 Review) | Mad Max, Anya-Taylor Joy
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 20 май 2024
- Furiosa was such an interesting character in Fury Road that she HAD to have a Mad Max spin-off, and here it is in all the George Miller glory. Anya-Taylor Joy and Chris Hemsworth lead the pack. #Furiosa

Furiosa is a hyped blockbuster that is a must see movie.
An impressive post apocalyptic movie with charismatic unique characters, impressive action scenes, creative vehicles in a post apocalyptic world, etc.
Furiosa is the Mad Max prequel we finally get after decades of waiting.
Huge Mad Max fan & I'm excited to see this.
Great review Lee.
You're going to love it TL!
Seeing it Friday!!
Damn! 9 years since the last Mad Max movie!? Wow! Definitely going to see this on Thursday! Cannot wait!
I know! Can't believe it's been that long!
Caught it in glorious IMAX tonight. Arguably the most brutal in the franchise since the original, and quickly jumped to my third favorite on one viewing. The Road Warrior and Fury Road are my top in this series, but this could be a future contender. Apart from some distracting CG, this kept me glued the whole time, deepening the lore and acting as a compelling story to run parallel with the first two Mad Max films. Will certainly see it again!
Can’t wait till Thursday!😎
Furiosa is another glorious swerve in mastermind George Miller's breathless race towards cinematic Valhalla.
I always appreciate your reviews
Thank you!
Thanks man, great vid review
Thank you!
Seeing this in 4DX on Friday! Can’t wait!
Perfect movie for that format.
Dredd 2012 was 1 building in lock down and the perfect cast for each role. Didn't see better dystopia action movie since then. Lena as Ma Ma❤. I wait for this one when there's nothing else to watch. Like me being at the hospital and I need distraction from someone snoring😅. Thank you for the review. Just from description of what it is, I think I've seen it already.
I do not miss the lav mic. 👌
You are a saint. Thank you brother.....and btw, BIG congrats on your continued success on CHH. Killing it!
"They go one place , then come back"
Thats just like me saying John McClane JUST goes up a building then down.
Haha true. Although he went all over the place in With a Vengeance (my favorite Die Hard movie).
Great review! Completely agree! I really liked this movie! Epic action!
That was exactly my first thought when I saw Tom Burke's character in the film.
Good review. 👍
Right?! The resemblance is uncanny!
Little Furiosa (Alyla Browne) lives in Green Place, a “land of abundance” with forests, fruit and nature. An act of kid mischief angers some motorcycle-riding goons, who capture Furiosa and take her to their ruthless and mercurial leader, Dementus (Hemsworth). Furiosa’s sharpshooting mom Mary (Charlee Fraser) rescues her daughter from this nomadic biker horde, but their escape is foiled and Dementus tortures and kills Mary, taking Furiosa as a prisoner.
?? Okay? Lol
In the desolate yet visually stunning landscape of George Miller's latest masterpiece, "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga" the audience is thrust into a maelstrom of high-octane action and profound storytelling. This prequel to the critically acclaimed "Mad Max: Fury Road" not only expands the lore of the titular character but also redefines the boundaries of the action genre. Anya Taylor-Joy had 30 lines of dialogue that delivers a tour-de-force performance as Furiosa, embodying the character with a fierce determination and emotional depth that captivates from the first frame. Chris Hemsworth's portrayal of the villainous Dementus is both charismatic and menacing, providing a perfect foil to Furiosa's heroism. George Miller's direction after watching FURY ROAD is nothing short of masterful & beautiful creations of what road action is really like; he crafts a narrative that is both expansive and intimate, with each set piece surpassing the last in scale and spectacle. The cinematography is a character in itself, painting the Wasteland of "WHAT A LOVELY DAY" with a palette that is as beautiful as it is desolate. "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga" is a testament to the power of myth-making. It's a film that not only honors its predecessors but also stands on its own as a monumental achievement in cinema. With a perfect blend of relentless action, compelling characters, and a story that resonates with the human spirit's indomitable will, this film is the best film of this year of action. It can not be lower at all. It delivers the goods with a gold plaque.
"I created a higher rating myself 66 out of 10 and I was so goddamm happy!!"
Cool! I might see it. To be honest, I wasn't interested on Mad Max until Fury Road, but that movie was amazing and I'm exited about this one as well. I might rewatch first three :)
Ima see this shiii. Usually, a long runtime means it wasn't cut down to shreds!
Well, if stories are true, Beyond Thunderdome inspired Dusty Rhodes in creating War Games, Matt Hardy was obviously taking inspiration in the hair style of Broken Matt Hardy from Toecutter, and of course Hawk and Animal the Road Warriors. So the original Mad Max Trilogy was a big part of Pro Wrestling. 😉 As for this, never heard of it until now. Not much new, never heard of Fury Road until the Blu Ray release, so at least learned of this earlier than that. Anyways, sounds interesting, thank you, Lee.
Very interesting Jen. I never knew that! I loved the rivalry between Dusty Rhodes and Ric Flair.
I wish they didn’t mess with the colour gradient of yellow and teal.
If you’ve great stunts, you want to show them off and make them look as natural as possible, to colour it like a cartoon makes it seem artificial.
The behind the scenes stuff with the cars looks so cool and felt real with a Road Warrior vibe.
And the it ends up looking like a Pixar movie - slight exaggeration but you get it.
I just watched furiosa. And I must confess, I never wanted a fury road prequel. As much as I really enjoy furiosa character in that movie I never wanted a prequel AT LEAST not before A SEQUEL to fury road and that’s exactly what I wanted, a sequel to fury road. I freaking LOVE that movie. That was a perfect masterpiece while furiosa……. Look, don’t get me wrong the movie is good but it’s not better and DEFINITELY NOT NEARLY as good as fury road. But it’s definitely much much better than mad max 3, I hate that movie. I liked the action sequences despite the CGI is very very apparent, in fury road the cgi is literally unnoticeable while in furiosa the CGI is so in the face in some parts, the green screen is so obvious. I don’t know what happened. I liked the storyline, the performances are pretty solid, dr dementus is probably the most entertaining thing about this movie despite he’s a bit too cartoonish sometimes. I honestly found the max cameo extremely useless and not interesting, when he and his interceptor car showed up I was like OH, but then it was just that so I immediately asked myself why the hell to put this in the movie?????????? The ending I thought it was kinda WTF. My favorite part was the RPG/sniper segment. Overall it’s a fun movie but in my opinion unnecessary, I had low expectations for it and it was just fine. What I want is a sequel to fury road but furiosa is good enough but many people are really praising this movie and it’s not even close to fury road but it’s good. 7/10.
I'm seeing it this weekend ☠️
Nice!
It's A Must!
What a great freaking movie. I might actually go back and see this one a second time and I never do that.
I want to see it again too!
Im an old school Mad Max fan, apart from no mad max the other elephant was the cgi overload. Im glad you mentioned that lee because what made the original trilogy so spectacular was the practical stunts. To me, this looks even more like a comic book Marvel/DC effects film. I wasn't overly impressed with Fury Road for the added Cgi. When i saw the trailer to this its overloaded cgi was obvious. I will go and see it but thank you for your honest review cheers 👍 🍻
Great review of this Mad Max prequel
Furiosa prequel
Thanks Damian!
@@DrumdumsMovieReviews You are welcome !
Watched fury road then the original mad max. Today gonna watch mad max 2 & 3 then tmro watch this new one. I have seen them all b4, watching them in any order is how I do 😂 😂 it’s nice taking time off then watching these cuz when I start to forget it’s almost like a first watch. I’m really excited, going to watch in IMAX tmro. Thanks Lee awesome REVIEW! Also I played the game and beat it finally back in 2020 it was awesome driving all those cars with reallly loud engines making my speakers go bonkers 😂
Hell of a good job Lee .
Thanks Rick!
There's definitely CGI in Fury Road...most of the sandstorm sequence, for example. There's a really great four-part series on visual effects by an actual VFX artist called No CGI is really invisible CGI I'd recommend to everyone interested in film...there's way more out there than people think, including in films like Top Gun Maverick that the studios love to pretend were all shot practically.
Can't wait until this hits streaming...audiences have basically insured I'll never go to a theater again, but I'm really looking forward to this one.
Yeah I think they blend it with the practical much better.
I don’t have so much of a problem with CGI if it blends in naturally. If you can’t necessarily spot it without actively looking for it, then to me, it was done right.
It’s surprising Furiosa gets released 9 years after a finically successful Mad Max movie that is was well received because of being a well made Mad Max movie with new aspects instead repeating aspects from the past Mad Max movies released before 2015.
I liked it even more than Fury road and I think that's a near perfect movie. While Fury road may be an arguably "better" movie the characters and world building in this movie elevates it above Fury road for me.
Going to see this today. I love this franchise, I hope I like it. Just wish Charlize Theron was in it .
Better than Fury Road for sure.
MAD MAX Fury Road is the best of the series. I can’t wait to see this on Memorial Day 😎
Can't wait to see it Friday. Lee and Fury Road was hard to top
Yeah FR is God-tier
I really enjoyed it. The 2.5 hours flew by for me. I do have a few negatives, but those are mostly prequel problems.
Same!
Great film.
I didn’t even know this movie was in the works; can’t wait to see it. I am a fan of Anya-Taylor Joy.
Where the heck you've been hiding at???
Loved this movie! Just wish Mad Max was in it. Next one should have Mel Gibson reprising his role and go the route of Hugh Jackman did Wolverine and did Logan. That would not only be epic, but a proper way to end this franchise.
He is in it, technically, haha, i mean the cameo ofc
Tom burke does have a hair lip in real life, seen him in a few things, more recently Donkey Punch and the Poirot TV show
And so does Stacy Keach. Pretty crazy!
@@DrumdumsMovieReviews I've never actually noticed it on Stacey Keach 😱

Love it 😆
I was nervous about this movie to be honest but glad people like it
The water is warm!
This looks great aside from the CGI. I generally detest CGI that is noticeable in this type of film, so this is gonna be a hard pill to swallow.
I think you'll still dig it.
Preferring the originals to the newer films is not about nostalgia. I think too many people say that to simply dismiss peoples preferences to the older fillms.
"You prefer the original? HA! Thats just your nostalgia talking!".
I dont know if you believe that to always be the case, but I think its becoming a more prominent argument that is being used to dismiss fans who prefer the original films.
The original films are more gritty and of the real world. Yes, they have strange characters like the newer movies, but the pacing and the style make them more believable than the newer films.
Fury Road is an overstylized cartoon. A one trick pony of a film. Very ADD. You yourself called it an "adrenaline junkie" film. Which makes sense.
The character of Mad Max is a side character in that movie, but not even really in this movie.
It is what it is. These two newest movies are spinoffs to me.
No it's definitely not always the case. I use that phrase only in times where the clearly evident that the newer movie is better than the old.
@@DrumdumsMovieReviews
I guess it kind of depends on what we judge each film by.
Is Fury Road more action packed than the older Mad Max movies? Of course. It has a more visual style, lots of chaotic energy and all of that. So, if that is someone's preference, yeah.... Fury Road is better as it relates to those factors.
But, the Mad Max character is relegated to a supporting character in his own franchise. And you don't really get time to soak in the apocalyptic environment like you do in the old movies.
So, Fury Road just feels like a stunt show to me. Which is not a terrible thing. These kind of movies have their place, but it just doesn't have much substance to me.
I don't mean substance in terms of the plot as these were not plot heavy movies to start with. I just mean substance in terms of believably as it relates to the environment, pacing and the journey the characters are on.
To fair, I've only seen it once. I saw it opening weekend. So, I probably owe it a 2nd watch by now. I can't Imagine enjoying it more at home than I did at the movies. But, we'll see.
For the record, I did not grow up with the original films. I saw them first in the mid 2000's. I was late to the party considering I was already in my late 20's by then.
Either way, I love the reviews man. Your enthusiasm is great, and that's why I'm eager to go bat for you anytime the a---holes start crap.
Keeper coming!😁
As a kid, I really dug beyond Thunderdome. I thought the costumes were great. I love the whole tribe of children thing I think it was very reminiscent of hook for me at the time, even though Thunderdome came out first. It wasn’t till I got older that I saw the road warrior and then mad max out of respect. Going into this I was ready for a different type of movie. I knew he wasn’t going to redo fury Road. I think we all did. Had a great time. Great action, love a simple story. The leads were incredible in their respective parts. I thought this one was almost the most brutal given the content of some of the things going on, and the death scenes portrayed. Was surprised that the CGI was more noticeable. Kmart mad Max was unexpected and I thought it was kind of bullshit given this was supposed to be Furiosa’s story but that’s just a thought… I actually dug the character a lot, and was glad he was there. I just thought it was kind of taking a way from furiosas time
Yes it definitely had some brutality, even for a Mad Max movie.

@@DrumdumsMovieReviews I highly recommend it’s great. It’s the most talked about thing all over social media all over RUclips and everybody’s doing a reaction to it so are you going to do it?
As someone who thought Fury Road was the most overrated movie of that year, I'll absolutely check this out streaming.
Unfortunate because these kinds of films regardless of if you’ll like it or not are made for the theatrical experience. The sound, the score, the scale, the performances, the action, all of it is big and meant for the big screen but to each their own. Hopefully you enjoy this more 🙏❤️
@@Keizi I hope so too. I'm in no way speaking negatively of Fury Road, it just didn't with me. I hope you liked it and I hope you like this one.
I thought Fury Road was overrated as well..kinda boring in spots..bad story and Tom Hardy sucked as Max..but I do plan to see Furiosa tomorrow
Fury road was absolutely worth every bit of hype. Not our fault you suck.
I'm glad people like it but I was very disappointed. It's not the epic it thinks it is. Drags, which is weird for a Mad Max movie, and just peters out, also odd for a Mad Max movie. The love interest is so bad and should've been left out. Technically well made but WAY too long for very little. I'll stick with Fury Road.
Please, please please please please
Not a fan of this franchise so going in with high but not insane expectations
That's a good way to go in.
0:01 nah man, Fury Road was a Furiosa movie, not a Mad Max movie. It's been 39 years since we had a Mad Max movie. I might have called it phenomenal after my 1st viewing. After watching it twice, I found it annoying and soulless anti-masculine anti-natalist crap.
Pretty much.

@@wardenmagellan2643 Yes, I always love people who go on a whining tirade as their first reaction, over what turns out to be their own stupid mistake. I hope he feels sufficiently dumb after realizing it was never on this channel.
I hope I’m not alone thinking this movie is terrible.
“MEDIOCRE!!!”
Such a disappointment!! Wasn’t half as good as Fury Road.
Always been a fan of the franchise.... (Road Warrior)=Trapped on an Island movie!!! Seeing this film this weekend & have "in-check" expectations for this film;considering my love for the apocalyptic vision of George Miller. Still holding out hope that Mel Gibson would make an appearance, with his current older/bearded self;as a villainous character. Back to "the bronze" vs the wasteland hordes. Just a retro/middle ground of societal holdouts with more practical effects in a time frame before Fury Road without the agenda aka: Female empowerment, cultish subversion of an afterlife & egos of consumption. Like we don't already see that everyday anyway 🫤
