      Lol I worked at a small golf course for a couple years. Basically same stuff would happen ,but not on purpose cause we were getting paid. Running over sprinklers, having hard stuff smash into the reals dulling, and sometimes breaking stuff. Lol there was Tee Box mower and one of the Tee boxes was up a kill. The mowers traction sucked because it had bald tires so it doesn't damage the Tee boxes super short grass. So going up and down that hill was always pretty sketchy. Doubly so the grass was wet from watering or dew. The new kid road down the kill backwards and into the little creek/stream at the bottom of the hill.

      +Filipe Nunes Yeah, I wanted to know if it's dangerous to hoover up a bullet or mow a bullet.

    • @johnandan1594
      @johnandan1594 8 лет назад +18

      +FuManBoobs probably really dangerous because in order to ignite the propellant you have to hit the primer with enough force to causes it to ignites the propellant that then launches the bullet, and pretty sure the blades of a lawn mower has more than enough kinetic energy to do so.

    • @FuManBoobs
      @FuManBoobs 8 лет назад +7

      Deathcap Rabadon I suppose this would be too unpredictable and dangerous to try?
      I'm curious because in the movie Pineapple Express one of the characters drops a load of bullets to which another character replies "make sure you get those, I don't wanna run em over in the vacuum cleaner and shoot my face off".
      Would it be the same if you tested it with blanks?

    • @Venicilia
      @Venicilia 8 лет назад +4

      +FuManBoobs MattV2099 did a test with .22 ammo in a blender a round went off.
      /watch?v=M71dxHFD3-U
      Of course, it will always be easier to set off .22 rounds than something like 9mm or .308 rounds as the .22 is a rimfire cartridge, meaning the entire base of the cartridge is a primer, compared to the center fire cartridge of the other rounds.

    • @hzuiel
      @hzuiel 8 лет назад +14

      Something to consider when it comes to the danger of loose ammo, is that a lot of the power of a bullet comes from the expanding gasses of the powder pushing the bullet(or other ammunition) down the barrel. With no barrel to trap the gasses, the bullet would only be traveling at a tiny fraction of the speed it normally would. For instance handguns with shorter barrels will have a lower muzzle velocity than one with a longer barrel, because the gasses had less time to accelerate the bullet. No barrel, hardly any acceleration.

      I once got picked up to go to work with my boss from construction and he got a rental stuck onto a curb that was going into an underground parking garage, but there was an alley next to it that we wanted to pull into for the restaurant next to the alley.
      Stuck on the front axle icy winter, he didn't know what to do trying to put it in reverse while the front wasn't on the ground.
      I got some wood nearby from beside a trash bin, iced over so I knew it was decently clean, put under the wheel that was hanging so it had traction, it shot one piece of wood like a bullet but pulled onto the higher ground so all four wheels were in place to reverse.
      His words were "Let's get the hell out of here" lmfao.

    As a former Glazier, I can say that working with glass is one of the most dangerous construction jobs you can do. The stories, to go with the scars I've seen on my workmates, will scare you so much you're hair turns white. The worst cut you can get is the one where the broken glass drops down onto the inside of your wrists. I got lucky on the day it happened to me, I just got a minor cut, but I've seen scars that go the full width of the wrist and appear to be down to the bone.
    Getting wacked in the head with a stone from a lawnmower would be a doddle compared to having a bit of glass hit you... from any angle!

      I think that relationship, or lack thereof, is part of what made them so successful as a team. They've both said that they're very similar in many ways, while being complete opposites in other ways. On the show, they butted heads numerous times, and even in this video, Adam off-handedly remarked that their primary method of communication was "arguing." I think that had they been friends, those arguments would have eventually boiled over and turned personal, because now you've got an emotional connection, tearing the team apart. Penn & Teller credit their longevity to the same thing, the fact that they are also not really friends.

    I remember once when I was a little kid, I was working on my treehouse and accidentally knocked off the railing a teeny little jeweler's screwdriver (about two inches long and about 1/8th" thick at the widest). The lawn couldn't be mowed until I found it, for this reason, but besides a general area about 10 feet square, I hadn't the faintest idea where it was. I had to crawl on my hands and knees with my face a few inches over the grass, across the entire damn square in a back-and-forth search patter to find the thing; took me over an hour.

    No mention of what was probably the most dangerous and scary part of the episode, when the Hellmower's blade sheared right off the axle and spun through a ton of dirt without losing much momentum and almost took out one of their camera tripods.

    When I was in the air force I was watching my crew load 25mm ammo that was about to be sent out to the flight line, so I was looking down at the ammo making sure everything was going smoothly while a lawn service was cutting the grass a good 15 yards outside of the bay I was in, and there were 4 trailers loaded with 25mm between us and the mower. All the sudden out of nowhere my head got knocked back hard enough to make me stumble a bit, the mower hit a rock that flew up and over those trailers and into the bay and hit me right above my right eyebrow. At first I just looked down at the ground looking for whatever hit me thinking "what the hell was that?!", then I realized I had blood pouring out of my head so I told everyone to shut it down because they were completely unaware anything had just happened due to all of the noise in the bay. Not gonna lie though it was kind of funny watching everyone freak out, my main concern was not getting blood on my uniform 😂. But I am convinced that if I wasn't look down at that ammo and looking straight forward instead, then that rock would have taken my eye out. Close call!
    So the moral of this story...don't be an idiot when you're mowing around people or anything you don't want to break. Keep the mower turned towards a safe direction! You would think this would be common sense but if a man working for a professional lawn service didn't have the sense to do it, maybe it's not so common!

      Or just simply Mythbusters Season 1, 2, 3, etc. I loved the show in the early 2000's. Last time I watched the show was on Hulu a couple of years ago. They started at something like season 10 or 11, and went to the end. That was great because I hadn't seen most of them, but I was wanting to see from where I had left off which was about season 5 or 6.

    I almost lost my eye to a flying stone from a lawnmower. The only reason I'm not blind in my right eye is because I started wearing glasses the day before, although the force of the stone still completely bent my glasses and made a 1cm deep gash between my eyebrow and my eye. Lots of blood, and it doesnt take much imagination to figure out what could have happened.

    I nearly had what could easily have been a fatal accident from a thrown rock while mowing a hay field with an 8 foot wide John Deere disc mower. The tractor, by design, had no doors or windows and only two vertical steel beams with a fiberglass roof forming the Roll Over Protective Structure(ROPS). At one point, while i was watching the mower over my shoulder, a stone larger than a softball was thrown from the underside of the mower directly towards me. Fortunately, it struck the right ROPS beam but it hit with such force that it made the entire roof and ROPS structure ring like a bell.

    My best friend accidentally mowed over a coat hangar that was in tall grass. It broke off a 2" piece of wire and it went through her calf muscle. The wire was stuck in the middle of her leg so I took her to the hospital. The ER doctor said it was a "spider bite" and would not X-ray it. I took her to a second hospital and she was in surgery two hours later.
