14:15 the myth-terns sitting on the other side of the table to offset the massive amount of weight hanging off on Jamie's side 😄
On the third year Jamie took a hard blow to his elbow. Almost didn't flinch, he's a machine!
Plausible? Flossable you mean! 21:51
16:35 One of the best sentences Adam has ever said on the show
45:43 "I WANT MY TWO DOLLARS!! Arrrg! I can't swim!"
the gloves make it harder to hold onto the cars roof more grim bare hand.
I love the fact that Grant said that "he stole the tape recorder" but they never felt the need to get into the details of just who or where he stole it from is awesome, Grant rules
I think the joke is that it's meant to be a prison-issue recorder that the inmate would have stolen, and then modified to break out
I wonder how many people have died because they thought what they see on the screen can really be done?
Exactly. Why would you cling to the roof of car anyway? A lot of things might be possible but on the other hand....
At least 12
At 5:22 i laughed my ass off 😂
I'm not sure you can assume that the car cling will always be with the windows up. The car could be damaged and the windows broken (if the person clinging doesn't break them themselves). Also putting up the windows takes time that the driver might not have - they'd have to drive one handed while that happens.
Driving 1 handed = Impossible
Hollywood never been a source for reality.
4:48 Wait a sec... how could he correct the voice over ("vo guy")? I always thought they first film the entire thing and once done, the story is cut into an episode and at the very end the voice over is added. Is the voice over already added in between single segments?
Adam has said in tested that a lot of the writing, jokes and general layout of the episodes were done way ahead of filming
As director or producer you have the whole show in mind. I bet the VO script was written along the prep and filming process to catch funny phrases like "strain with the crane"
"oh, that sounds good, we put that in the VO"
"wait a second, if you do that..."
if they had dropped the VO line, they could've just cut Adam's first sentence out and started with "this is not a crane part..."
Considering it takes roughly 9 months worth of flossing to cut through one steel bar you’re going to get out for good behaviour long before you remove all the bars of your cell and that’s provided you don’t get caught within the 9 months worth of flossing through one bar
Also you will have to remove it at the top as well, so it will take you at least 18 months to remove one bar. More reasonable as well would be to remove two bars, as you might not be able to squeeze out if only one bar is removed. So with two bars, that makes 36 months. That's three years, just to escape from prison. And all this is considering that you don't get caught, which you most definitely will.
@@salamantis-c4m I mean...getting out of the cell is not going to get anyone out of the prison. The prisons are made in such a way to allow people to leave the cells and still keep them inside. For one person to leave their cell, they'll be unable to exit from the block itself.
As for trying to get out the window, I don't think there's much of a chance of going through the giant yard and fence (in best case scenario) with thorny wire up top is feasible without being seen...
So yeah. A prison escape would require quite a lot more than just preparing a way to escape the cell.
What about the car washes that have the rollers that go over your car?
41:30 so the filming crew doesn't need protection?
Silk may have gone through the bar. I used to work in a silk mill and that stuff will cut metal quite easily.
31:59 the way the man looks talks and sounds he could be Jamie’s father
9:00 - With Karie together in the cell, I would 'grind' something else ;-)
Long ago, i was a gaffer on the show. James, "Jamie", was not allowed to be alone with women, unless there were other people around. He has a bad habit of making them feel uncomfortable. He Always acted like a child around girls and women. Ever notice how theres not a single segment with him and Keri alone? She hated being near him. NOW YOU KNOW.
11:57 BAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
I use a "string-type" of floss. What if the car windows aren't open"
Does anyone know what kind of helmet they used on the car?
Edit: I know now that it's a Gath RV helmet, but does anyone know where to get replacement visors / the exact variety of helmet?
when does they have the windows down ? if you are doing something like that you would break the window before it closes to give yourself a fighting chance.
Assuming you have something to break it with. Modern windscreens are tough.
@@jimhjortsberg2990 dependa on where you push. The corners are rather easy to break
I would have liked to see if a Rock Climber with stronger finger grip and experience hanging on with finger tips could stay on the car. Miss this show
yeah that was a missed opportunity
That could be interesting. He had quite good grip strength though - holding up to 136 kg (300 lb) with one hand and deadlift 204 kg (450 lbs). I had expected him to be more like the average joe. That would have made it a really poor test, as the difference could be huge to just someone who work out. A good climber would of course do better, but the difference would probably not be huge, as it's more about the angles and quick changes of the G-forces rather than how big they are.
Also, this wasn't about testing the human limits, but to bust the myth for how it works in movies. It would be ridiculous to assume anyone who cling on to a car in a movie is a pro climber...
I would have liked to see more tests with windows down though - since it could be intersting to see the limits there. I would guess the braking while on the roof would be hard anyway (it's not easy to hold on in that angle). It could also be nice to test with a car that has roof railing (that would probably be too easy), haha
But I guess they didn't want to do more tests than necessary as when they do fall off, it looked quite uncomfortable to get janked and tossed around hanging in that rope
@@Speeder84XL I don't know if they COULD have done much more to make the windows-down harder, coz they mentioned their insurance wasn't happy for them to exceed 45mph.
@@thomasjoychild4962 They did for example no brake test with windows down. That would indeed have made it harder, as the direction of the forces is what matters the most.
Going faster would indeed have made this whole ting cooler, but it wouldn't actually have made it that much harder to hang on. G-forces don't increase with speed for normal cars that has no down force.
Make for example a 45° turn at 90 mph will take twice as long (and the radius of the turn will be 4 times as big), compared to 45 mph. But the force is the same.
They already had the possibility to test "long lasting" G-forces in turns, when they where going in circles.
The braking tests could be slightly harder from high speed though - as he has to hang on for longer.
If he barely can hold on, at the beginning of the braking - those extra seconds is what could make him fall off before the car stops.
That insurance thing was probably more about if something goes wrong though (as that was insurances is for)
For example if their safety rig fails, the speed could matter a lot for the outcome.
I guess who could say..They got..hood..winked..I'll see myself out
enough booz you can hang on to a car whit out a harnes even climbing through the sunroof😂😂😅
The cannon works pretty well but not for buster
Who are the Mythbusters? Are they just telling the myths or are they putting them to the test?
The driver should just do the windows up then... or open the door..
Love how the camera man is almost never behind the shield when they fire the canon.....guess camera men are cheaper to replace than presenters :D :P
Did you see the one where they tested those 'screens' and found out they were not ballistic proof at all :)
@@MONTY-YTNOMYEAH! I remember, it was near the end of the whole series I think.
@Not-TheOne better now than never, that will for sure save lives...later
450 pound dead lift (must be a myth)
Don't underestimate wild Hyneman.
How many explosive experts in California are named Frank?
Actually i'd close the windows 23:11
I liked when the tractor said not then he was like wet from stuff and got the fur off from cars
When I get discovered by a talent agency and start acting professionally on a movie set and do stuff like this 😊🎬 I can’t wait
That canon is the one who almost destroyed a house?
No. That happened in a later season.
@@jimhjortsberg2990 oh! Thank you!, I thought that incident was this season
It is the same canon though.
The myth where that happened was called Stone Cannonball IIRC
Münchhausen is waiving
It's not really plausible... Yes... you may be able to CUT through the bar, but it is NOT stealthy. You need at least TWO cuts, more reasonably four, and it will be sitting there for ALL the time you are doing the others.
😂
Another great video, but, please record them at same level as adverts, EVERY time an advert cuts into the video, i get deafend 'cos you record the video with less volume! Brilliant though! and thank you for uploading them
;)
God this show is annoying.
