- Hi guys! Another busy week here as we head to Strong's Garage to install the new engine into the 1926 Ford Model T with Matt& Jim! First we need some numbers, though; how fast do you think a worn-out Model T will do the 1/4 mile? Let's find out! Al & Ash are on the scene to make sure we finish in time, and then we are going for a drive!
We are very happy to announce our new "Dean's Greasy Flips" beer cozies! Get yours today, as they are a limited edition! Also: We just got in a new shipment of "Same Old Shit" coffee mugs, so get them while they last, haha!

Glad to see the new engine going in the T.....Thanks Scott and all of the agent's helping at Strong's Garage.....But of course Frankers to 👍
Shoe🇺🇸
So Scott what fuel are you using in your vintage engines ?
Almost broke the sundial recording that first speed run?
I've seen a lot of resistance by people resisting the idea of alternative fuels and electric cars.
Have you ever realized that if the Horse and Buggy had a lobby and it was legal to bribe politicians and propagandize the public, we would still be in horse and buggies?
as always thanks for the vids,to borrow a term the T has been roadserationed
The next movie adventure - - Driving Miss Frankers!
What the hell?! I came here looking for workshop drama with artificial conflict and fabricated hysteria and all I got for my free attention was a great bunch of friends helping eachother out with capable skills. I am shocked and appalled but my heart feels weirdly warm. Great video Scott!
A Bennett Buggy is a stripped down Model T pulled by a horse seen on the Canadian Prairies during the Great Depression. Named after the then Prime Minister of Canada, R. B. Bennett.
They were called Hoover wagons in the US.
Another great episode of CWM. Couldn't help noticing how beautiful the headliner on the 59 Fury is. The fifties really brought out the interior designers. Thanks for sharing.
“What are the smart kids doing?” 😂😂
The smile on Scott's face as the rad was being filled tells the whole story.... what a great bunch of guys!!!
You have a unique group of friends Scott...
All gear heads & all happy to jump in & help each other..
Pretty amazing..
Perfect T-shirt for Model T engine rebuild! Uncle Tony is smiling 👍👍🇨🇦
Yeah! I have the design roughed out; it'll be coming this summer...Cheers!
This....this made me smile! I've been waiting to see the T get its new engine and I wasn't disappointed. Thanks for the video.
Hey thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers...
The sets and that station wagon the opening sequence are the BEST!!
Hey thanks; glad you enjoyed the model car stuff! Cheers...
Scott, another magical episode blending Strong's Garage and Cold War Motors to witness the reinCARnation of your sweet T! After much, thought to be long dead highly skilled machine work including recasting Babbitt bearings, reconditioning a nearly 100 year old block, crankshaft, cylinder bores, rebuilding a flywheel magneto etc, etc the T lives with a new heart! I'm sure that Matt + Jim's highly sophisticated reconditioning mechanical rebuilding and transplant techniques would garner a sincere tip of the hat from Drs Christian Barnard, Robert Jarvik and Barney Clark for successfully giving a life extension to a 90 year old! Can't wait for the tire smoking 25 second quarter mile! Great series on the T! High desert Cheers!
Ok, guys...WE ALL ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE TOY CAR INTROS!!!! Scott maybe the agents and you can show us how you do these ???
It's nice to have friends you can count on, Great Job.
Scott, everytime I see the bi-plane on the T, I can't help but smile.
Making a hot rod outta that T, should be good for another hundred years
What a happy episode! From the clattering, gasping but successful arrival at Strong’s Garage, to the laying on of many hands and the resurrection of the auld gal. Every moment was a joy… Amen.
Glad you enjoyed it! All the best from me and Frankers...
Too cool! I've got my cheap bourbon laid in, I've clicked the thumbs-up, I've got snacks on hand. Bring on the inspired idiocy!
The green screen openings just keep getting better and better, so sick 🍻
Hey thanks! Glad you like them...Cheers!
Yay my favourite thing on RUclips, you inspired me to respray my Rover P6, and it's turned out really cool. Thanks Scott and all at Coldwar motors 👍👍❤
That's great! Thanks for the note and the kind words; all the best from me and Frankers!
@@coldwarmotors All the best to you and Frankers from sunny Wigan UK 👍🙂
I enjoyed your little narrative on the drive on the gravel road. Maybe it's because you carried me along with the joy you get from these vehicles.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for checking it out...Cheers!
For them who would like to know A Bennett buggy was a term used in Canada during the Great Depression to describe a car which had its engine, windows and sometimes frame work taken out and was pulled by a horse. In the United States, such vehicles were known as Hoover carts or Hoover wagons.
Thanks for that explanation. if not careful we will have Biden buggys in America soon.
I'd never heard the term or about them buggies but guessed that that was what it referred to. Thanks for confirming. cheers.
@@stevecr8934 your crass political comments are not welcome here
@@pashakdescilly7517 In America we have this thing called Free Speech , idiot. Have know n watched Scott for years. So I do know what is welcome here. Thanks for Playing
I remember hearing about that, and Scott’s reference to Trudeau buggy helped it make sense in the modern world
The old Tin Lizzie rumbles to life with a brand new heart. Ready for another 100 more years
I hit like sight unseen as usual. Never a disappointment.
Thanks so much!
Me too always! It's a knee jerk reaction 😊👍🌲💯
This might be strange to follow but ....I watch on occasion guys from Ontario back country canoeing, they also express great appreciation to able to travel in their part of this awesome country in a way people have done in previous centuries. Different transportation but similar motivation. Keep on keeping on.
Quite literally a well-oiled crew working their mechanical magic, an awesome coldwarmotors and Strong's Garage collab and congratulations on the fitting of this new, 'hot rod' powerhouse.
Could it be that Ashley is the next team member to go on the hunt for a Model T to refurbish? Looking forward to more as customary, very cool episode, enormously appreciated Scott :-) Thank you all very much, those unpaved roads with the Model T kicking up the dust at some considerable speed...class cinematics.
Hey thanks! Glad you enjoyed this one like we did putting it together...
* Time has passed quickly. The first CWM vid the algorithm offered me was the "Will It Run" episode for that Model T. How many years ago was that ? I was instantly hooked on Scott's mild manner, patients, and knowledge. 🍻 Here's to many more years 🍻 Loved the intro. Model stuff straight to Al rolling Spleef !!! 👊😎👍
Makes you wonder what kind of twisted shit you were watching that the algorithm recommended CWM. 😅 Cheers!
She’s a torque monster now. Never fear another hill again.
Scott and agents ..great programming..thanks made my day..very appropriate for all the awesome fathers out their...Go Canada !
The T sounds great! Thank you so much for bringing us these videos.
Glad you like them! All the best from me and Frankers...
Hey Scott, just wanna say you guys are fortunate, blessed, to be up dere in the wilds of NW Canada where the roads are wide open. You can't cruise a 'T' in some of the craptastically overpopulated areas, like where I am, in the lower 48. Yeah, you guys have a great life turning wrenches on wrecks, makin em work and get whistled at too.
Just finished a James Holland book taking a fresh look at the Normandy campaign. He figures one of the big advantages the Americans & Canadians had (that nobody really thinks about), was they grew up with cars. Majority of young guys in 1944 had probably driven a car, lots knew how to work on cars (as you would in the 30's/40's to keep them going) Teaching them to drive tanks or trucks, no big deal. When they broke in the field, lots knew how to fix them. The Germans, not so much, different culture. They obviously had cars (some great cars, years more advanced than ours & of course they didn't have Detroit supplying their army) but it wasn't like our North American car culture. It was the "T" that started it all, the first mass produced car for the common man. Thanks Henry, you old bugger....& he built & sold the "T" without the gov't shooting all the horses!
I have also heard that you could figure out what the German army was going to do next because they went "by the book". Americans and Canadians, not so much. You never knew what wild shit they were going to pull next. This drove the Germans crazy.
I'm convinced Jim has a time machine, but he only uses it to go back to the 70's to buy trucker hats.
Cool seeing g a group of buddies, making an old car more usable, and reliable can't wait for the next episode.
An old fridge full of rocks and coffee cans falling down the stairs lol I spit my morning coffee out 😜great job guys
Almost everybody's first car was a Model T. Either they bought one new or bought one second hand. My dad used to talk about them because when he was a kid in the late 1920's and early thirties you could take your pick of them in any junkyard just for the scrap price and with a little tinkering get it running. Many people had love affairs with them, one guy that lived in Peoria Heights Illinois couldn't bear the thought of his beloved T getting crushed during WW2 so he dug a pit in his backyard and buried it. The story came to light in the 1970's when a plumber run into it putting in a new sewer line and one of the old newspapers had covered it when he did it complete with pictures. needless to say when they dug it up there wasn't much left.
Can't think of a better way to spend the day than "tearing up" the back roads in a car that is almost 100 yrs old!😎
We enjoyed this episode very much. My wife's grandfather was very involved with the T club crowd, CCCA, Glidden Tours, etc., and she grew up around many a T restoration. So much so that when you fired up the new engine she replied, "Yep, that's the sound of a fresh T motor."
Her grandfather had a 1914 phaeton that he had "resto-modded" with hydraulic brakes and an overdrive. He was able to get it up to 55 on I-4 in order to take part in parades at Disney World.
That's awesome! Thanks for the note!
Love the new engine in the T. Sounds awesome and hope she serves you well. The Model T quarter mile time sounds better than my old 1978 Chevette automatic I had! Love and thanks to Strong's Garage. I'd love to see the base Kaiser on the road you featured earlier this week. Always enjoy your episodes. Look forward to them. Thanks! George in Maine
Thank you George; glad you liked this one! Cheers...
Congrats, Scott.
That pneumatic block and tackle is awesome. 👍🏻
Once you drive a Model T, you're hooked. You have truly mastered it once you can do a hot start. That turned out sweet. Cheers!
Hi Heather! Hope you enjoyed this Model T Special! All the best as always from me and Frankers...
man that was a all hand on engine change sure dose sound nice now and more power. nice to see lots more rides and time trial again. well done guys. cheers.
Nothing short of extraordinary from CWM! I’m grateful for the performance specs on the Model T which are virtually non-existent in 2023 as compared to Tom McCahill’s long forgotten era as a auto reviewer. Also grateful for Scott’s comments about his pursuit of old cars & gravel roads…touching and a reminder of how non existent each are becoming in our day. And any visit to Strong’s Garage is rich with visuals and commentary. Thank you for so much joy!
Congrats on the new T-engine.
Good work everybody ,came out nice .
Thank you! Cheers!
I really love the model car scenes. Really good production👍 quality👍
Hey thanks! We do have fun with those...
Great job, you have a great bunch of friends, and the show was awesome keep them coming really enjoyed it.
Thanks Jerry! Glad you enjoyed it...
great video, that Jim is a super mechanic !!!!!
Happy Saturday to you all and I hope you are taking the pups out today.
I would enjoy to see both of them go for a ride or the other one. One thing that I regret is giving my other dog 🐕 not enough ride time. Great evening and I hope you have a great Sunday.
The T sounds so much better. Thanks for the fun Saturday evening, Scott and gang!
Thanks for sharing a piece of perfection.
Hey thanks! All the best as always to everyone at Nick's Garage! If I were closer, I'd see if we could chuck it on the dyno, haha! Cheers guys...
Hey Scott, many of us share your joy of country scene motoring and just drinking in the shear beauty of the country side in a solid unpretentious car that just works its simplicity without unnecessary drama letting the driver and the car become one with each other and the passing beauty, plus breathing in the wonderful smells of the Summer green scenery. Congrats on the new T engine, looking forward to after break in time trials! Wink wink nudge nudge! Onward!
The episode where we find out Jim has hair. A classic episode where the friends all have fun working on an old jalopy
3:15 You really have to put the 1/4 mile time into perspective to appreciate just how fast it really is. Whatever the number is, it is many, many times faster than you can walk and a lot less tiring. It's even faster than a horse walks. The only way to go faster than a Model T is to take the train. Only the train doesn't stop at your house.
It's like the first modems that operated at like 75 or 150 or later, 300, baud. It's slow as hell compared to today, but faster than getting in your car and driving or taking the bus to where the records are you need to look at.
I don't think Scott knows that a K&N air filter sticker adds 10hp.
That's the first time I've ever seen Jim without a hat. It's a new look!😁
Timing the T in the quarter, bring a clock. Will it drive home, geeze let’s have faith in Jim and Strong’s garage! Finally a hootenanny, nice throw back vocabulary from Jim. Where else on earth are you going to get this stuff. 😊
I'm thrilled to see that Model T running so well now.
Hey, Scott, do you know where your T was built?
I know there was an assembly plant in Winnipeg, which is still standing at 1181Portage Avenue and have heard there was one in Saskatchewan somewhere.
It’s very cool to have your friends there to experience this re-powering.👍
During the quarter mile run I fixed myself some dinner and came back just in time to see the T flash through the traps.
Just in the first few seconds of that new engine running you could hear how much quieter it was going to be.
Congrats Scott on another successful interesting project.
One of the unexpected things I found when driving around in a classic car is that they make people happy. I think that is a wonderful thing, spreading some happiness around. For some reason, it doesn't happen with my Corolla. The difference in the noise level with the new drive train is really noticeable. You can actually hear the engine over the rest of the mechanical noise and it sounds more powerful. Can't wait to see the new 1/4 mile run. Mind you, the first one was much better than I was expecting. Great video watching all you guys doing what you do. 😊👍
Train spotting was really cool. I have watched KCS roll through Joplin Missouri for 50 years, we see a lot of Canadian Pacific engines down here since the merger. That locomotive is painted in Southern Belle colors like the old KCS passenger train from the 30's and 40's.
Thanks for the info!
You could hear the difference in the compression when you turned her over the first time on that new engine. The build up for each cylinder starts so much earlier than the old one and she fires with so much more purpose and oomph on each pot, without the rattles of the one that came out.
It will be a treat to see how the horsepower develops over the break-in period and the new standing quarter? I reckon it will easily get into the 20s and am picking a 28.2s time. It's easily noticed that you are now just speaking to the camera too, so that's just fantastic and although she's still a bit noisy from the road, the rumble-rash in the ears from driving the beasty any distance will not be overwhelming.....well, not to the same extent anyway!
I was surprised at how nimble the little car is around those potholes, Scott. She dodged them pretty easy and could teach my Triumph Stag a thing or two and save me the repair bills! I am rapt that the new engine has given the T a new lease on life and a much needed boost in the driveability from the trip enjoyment perspective. Maybe Laura will find it easier to drive and may actually enjoy a reprise of her review on the T....but maybe we wait until the interior is done and the road noise is a little more damped down by the new interior and she can get the full effect!
Either way, it sounds like a big improvement and with a more than 10% increase on her top speed (at time of recording), it bodes well for how well it will travel when everything has bedded in. I look forward to seeing the next instalment on this 97-year-old beauty!
All the best.
Right On, Boy that motor sounds so much better you can hear the increase in power, so happy for you! I think that should be a check mark on the bucket list. Thanks for a excellent window of a old school garage motor change.
Congrats to you, Strong's Garage and all the CWM supporters who came to assist . Many more miles and years ahead for the Model T.
I was out at the pick and pull down here in Nebraska getting some bits for my Corvair, and I'll be damned if they don't have a Kaiser like yours. Those are pretty sweet looking!
A hypo original Model T with all them go fast bits please! Run her in with the next 100 years in mind, she'll be doing highway speeds soon enough. You guys looked like a happy crew doing that huge job together, it was fun to watch your gang fix the old girl. You are going to doll it up inside and you'll be driven towards custom paint in order to balance the look. Face it you're smitten and you will constantly be picking up pretty things to adorn your century love while you spend the rest of your life together. It's your canvas maestro.
The Model T hot start!!! I remember my grandfather telling me about how his T could be 'hot started' just by turning the key. I'd never seen that demonstrated until now!
And a shout out to Jim- we cover Iggy Pop's 'Lust For Life' in the band, and all this time I never realized I've been singing the wrong lyrics...😉
At 1.75 playback, the T is quick as a bunny!
The green Power Wagon crew is a match for an old work truck I drove back in the '70's
That engine sounds so much better! It doesn't sound like an end of life diesel!
The first major road trip in mine, after crawling around the yard in it, was a 110 mile round trip with no spare parts. Just put yer foot down and go . My T was rebuilt by me and ancillary help with new friends over a 14 year period. Last engine trouble I had was every valve from the exhaust on number 2 all the way thru 4 was warped. AND the car still ran and drove. LOL
The Model T sounds good with the new engine it.
Very smooth! Excellent!
Rebuilt? restored?, I'd call it "overhauled". Congratulations on your new engine. What a fun toy the T is!
Sounds like you need to find a four door T for vintage chip runs.
Yeah! I'd definitely have another... Well, I do have a couple things to finish first! Cheers David!
Hey Scott! I never thought I would be interested in model T's! Ever since I watched all the episodes of your T project You have a convert. I'm in my 70's so my interest in automobiles started in the 50's. The ancient technology of a 100 year old car didn't interest me back then. Your T is especially COOL! These cars are important history and now I appreciate that. How about a high performance T race car that you and Strong's could collaborate on.
ModelT owner in 1920: “Huh? What did you say?”
ModelT owner in 2023: “Huh? What did you say?”
Great episode!
Wow Scotty what a awesome job, that old T is good for another 100yrs and as nimble as a new one. Good work to all the guys! 🥳🥳 PS When i'm not so broke I'll become a patron and help out! Best Sunday breakfast for a while.
Congrats Scott and Frankers on your new Hot Rod T. Thanks Matt, Jim and Ash.
Hey thanks so much! Very kind of you.
Fun fact, I saw another utuber a couple of weeks ago do a 1/4 mile on a horse. 35 sec.
Scott you are correct...beautiful sunny day, driving a Model T, it certainly is the right life choice in saving and maintaining these old beauties. Afterall, someone needs to do it! And I'm sure glad its you. Thank you for a great show. The T is sure quieter than it was. Look forward to having a calendar!
Your doing what you want never apologize for saving this old Iron. Loved the Model T engine exchange. You were so much better talking. The noise was at least 80% less. Thank you for sharing . 💯👊❤️
Great day to you all and I hope your all well!
Really cool, guys. Shades of the road scenes in "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou". It's really something to see the bespoke Ford tech from these days, with the wild, tambourine magneto looking like something out of an industrial revolution factorium. The handed down knowledge of this group of guys, and the arcane stuff that Matt comes up with are amazing, to say the least. Great video, great editing, great ending! Thank you, Scott, et al.
Will you all do a post mortem evaluation of how out of spec the original engine is? That will be interesting. Thumbs up to GFCE for the time trial. GFCETT. Thanks for sharing a ride in the Model T. Of course thumbs up to Matt and Jim at Strong's garage and Alex and Ashley.
Scott, we have to really praise Jim and Matt for their knowledge! Yes, their work also, but knowing what and how to do was simply amazing to me on those old Engine details! Your team of Buddies deserve much praise for their efforts also. Gosh, what Buds! So, all went well and THANK you for sharing all that fun!! Cheers, Rich

@@MikeyMack303 OH yes, all from a long time ago. I think MATT's Dad and forefathers started way back when and collected and then trained Matt. Then Matt trained Jim in a partnership started long ago. A very tough and underestimated rough road vehicle
There are thousands of hours of black and white movies of the model T in the snow. Including Thomas Edison and Henry Ford camping in the winter.
The drive to strongs garage looks just like the area in North Dakota where I grew up. Loved it thanks for the memory
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi, Scott The engine work is outstanding, thanks to Jim and the rest of the guys who help out. It sounds a lot better and quiet this time. I hope the engine performance meets your approval. I wish I could be there when you do the speed test. Good luck! My best to everybody, and be safe. Cheers!
Excellent editing Scott. Spot on!
Hey, thanks very much!
Scott the quality of the show is through the roof, as is the skill of all involved.
Giving the "T" the ole Italian tuneup eh? "Bang" shifting through the gears, & WOT on the straight away! Blow that carbon out!
Anywho, jokes aside, Trev stealing the opening sequence from frankers!
The T being on temporary hiatus, gives you a very good reason to drive the 59' Fury eh?
That Gantry powered by hydraulic? or electric? is the coolest type of gantry i've seen, hell everything at Strong's garage is cool!
Strongs Garage profanity percentage increased 102%.
Excellent work sirs!
Was driving through the mountains of western Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia today, swear the haze on the hills was y'all's smoke.
Being a mechanical idiot I expected the change of the engine very quick and easy. I was amazed how much work was put into this task.
Right after starting up the freshly installed engine it was clear how much smoother it ran. Great job and congtratulation. It is fantastic, how many cool car guy fiends you have and how they are willing to help.
Scott, in a Model T, do you time the quarter mile with a stopwatch or a calendar? Tee hee.
A T may be slow, but it is a whole lot faster than a mule wagon!
One must remember, when that T was built, 35 mph was the speed limit on what few paved highways there were.
Epic episode from start to finish!!!
my stupidly large tv finally accomplished its mission, it put me on the shop’s floor at strongs garage. and what a wonderful experience, for someone that has become jaded with post war automotive technology, now thrust into a world where everything is new ( just 100 years back of book) absolutely terrific experience, thanks Scott and everyone at strongs.
Your T looks to be working great. But even better than the T is how you and your buddies work together, get stuff done and have fun at the same time. The world could use a lot more of that. Thanks for the great video and hope your tour went off without issues.
Glad you enjoyed it... The tour was really fun, too! Cheers...
It's great to have friends who are willing to lend a hand. Looking forward to seeing more. ❤😎✌️👍cheers.

Superb episode yet again. I couldn't help but think of you when I found a 1926-27 coupe in a Nebraska barn. The building was so decayed, they tore the shed down around it, and auctioned it right where it had sat since the 50s, still up on blocks.
Every time I see more of yours, I pine for one. The search is active and ongoing, and I'll know the right one when I see it. I look forward to the tour. Cheers once again to you and all the agents
Cheers Tim! I just watched your video; that T and the 35 Chev were awesome! I look forward to seeing the T you will end up with... You were right about the older restorations becoming available as the owners get older and the family doesn't know what to do with the cars... definitely a good bet! All the very best from everyone here...
