Sometimes the good thing about movies like this, you gather up enough people who love it and you create a cult classic. It gains it's own popularity and lasts much longer than most box office hits that are actually bad in a nice package. Like a lot of remakes lately, or in my opinion Zootopia (I don't like that movie).

I agree so hard with this comment. This is one of my favorite movies of all time, and I hate musicals. The songs in this movie are so charming, the villains always steal the show, the story between Elliot and Pete is nice, and the support cast has a lot of charm.

I can only imagine Disney composers playing this on the piano and reveling in the result. It's impossible not to smile with every song in this film, even when the villains are singing about tearing apart a child's only friend or that they will continue to abuse a child because they have the purchase receipt. Even with one of the most villainous casts of Disney villains, this film manages to convey the purity of happy feelings, that even if everything seems terrible, hope will always be our candle on the water.

A genuinely B rated Disney effort by comparison to things like Marry Poppins or Bedknobs and Broomsticks, but these two (and the town set) steal every scene. Some of the most enjoyable villains in the Disney canon.
