I was in the Navy summer of 1978. Our ship stayed in San Diego that whole summer. This movie was playing at the base cinema. One night me and a buddy, broke before pay day, fired up a dube and watched Pete's Dragon high as a kite. Back then, you couldn't tell me that it wasn't the greatest movie I saw that summer!!!
@@leonardHughes-iq3wv - Yep. I can tell you're not a military brat. That's reality in the military. Think about what movies we were shown on the ship it self in the 1970's. Reel to reel movie that came in the mail, shown on a movie projector. If the weather was nice they'd show it on the fantail.
@@leonardHughes-iq3wv - Hey that's cool. I guess my point is, if you want to see first run new movies, you ain't gonna get them at the base theater. At least back in the day. I can't speak for today's military. You mentioned the blizzard of 78. Are you from Mass?

FUN FACT: Charles Tyner (Merle) played Unger in the original Longest Yard from 1974, and Jeff Conaway (Willie) played Kenickie in Grease.
