Not the way I see it. The way I see it the way he is looking at him he’s showing distain where appreciation once was, hatred where respect once resided.
When I was 18 (46 years ago) this was a favourite. It was played by the Good Brothers in Ontario Canada. It was a feature at almost every party held. I have loved this song for the last 46 years. You have done it justice.
Scott Sweet I do the same when he posts something that's not a kind of music I normally like...watch it all the way through at least once and thumbs up. Even if I don't care for the song, I can still appreciate the work and skill Josh and co put into it.
1.55 the banjo players closes his eyes and makes a commitment to snatch life from the jaws of death. About ten seconds later he looks to the heavens, perhaps asking for help in muted prayer, perhaps thinking "o Lord, I've gone too far." And then his revery is broken as he is jolted back to reality to sing harmony on the chorus, and not long after breaks a smile, knowing that he's taken a chance on everything and lived to tell the tale. What a session. Sometimes I see musicians drifting, bending the very fabric of space and time by refusing to lock in in the usual way and somehow the other musicians hold it together and the intrepid explorer finds his way back to the beat. Doesn't happen enough in western music from what I've seen, but in these videos the guitar player on All Of Me and this fella on banjo both did that thing and I for one appreciate it. RUclips Musical Maestro Harry Potter definitely knows how to hold space for some magic to happen.
Hmmm. I wish he kept picking away behind the vocals (though at a lower volume) but he just stops. It is my hypothesis that a true banjo player can't pick and sing at the same time because Scruggs style takes too much brain power.
@@Tapajara ... He is one of the best banjo pickers around. He's the banjo player for Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder. Won't get much better than that!!
Man I've been listening to your music for years now... I'm also a musician for many years.. you're genius and there's nothing more to say. Greetings from Bavaria Germany
some real good ol country style song. No fluffy voice altering crapp. No drum's or anything, just like cash did, imitate the snare drum on an instrument. Awesome. Big fan of ure projects Josh. Holler to ya'll from the Netherlands
This is the very best version of this song, Country Gentleman or Tom T Hall never did it this great. My morning routine, play this some and dance with my bird, she loves this song.
Absolutely loved this boys. Also i gotta tell Russ i'm a big Glen Campbell fan and boy their are some parts of this video where you look like him back in the day. To all 3 you boys this was wonderful man. God Bless ya
Awesome song. I am a lot older but first time I remember this song was from Tom T Hall's Album The Magnificent Music Machine. My Dad loved it. Great job as always.
I love this song, reminds me of my Dad. He was a huge Tom T Hall fan and that’s the version I grew up listening to and if I may say, the definitive version and yours ranks right up next to his. I love harmonizing along with you.
i love that when the fiddle plays his solo in the beginning you can see the appreciation the banjo player has for his skill. love it.

@@Barfyman42069 Sounds like you're projecting.
Believe that ole Tom T. would be proud of your superb performance of his song.

I would venture to say that you do like it :)

Scott Sweet bluegrass is where it’s at!
There's fresh air and sunshine out in the country.
Josh Turner, besides your musical skills you sure have a knack for gather the perfect people to join you. Really enjoyed this video. Thank you.
Grandpa Can Cook yes, I believe that’s a big part of who he is.
OK, but he should have gathered a bass player for this arrangement. Plus, 'Fox on the Run' begs, "Play me outdoors."
Agree.
Why is this a surprise to anyone? Like crystal clear water man.
I’ve been missing this.
One take
One microphone
One, among Many other, masterpieces done by You and your friends 😉

I just found this channel I gota say I'm a hard sell but all these young men and ladies are some of the most talented I've ever seen
I have heard that song several hundred times in the last 30 years and that is the nicest fiddle playing I have heard.
Great harmonies
Damn, vocal parts are on point, impressive! Also, banjo playing just puzzles me to no end, there's too much happening at the same time
lptomtom , keep trying.
Thus the paradox of amazing music!

L9ve this song. One of the best versions I've ever heard.
Country Gentlemen eat your heart out! I particularly like that drag note on the banjo solo. Wow!
This belter surely adds a different dimension to the Mamfred Mann hit from the 60's. Well done lads.

Not too dangerous I hope :) Thanks!
Goodness that's some tasteful playing on all counts
My goodness do I love their bluegrass covers.

Josh is so good with bluegrass, he has a killer voice for it and his picking Is hot. I hope he does more.
He does that to every genre though. Have you not seen his Nick Drake? Josh is like if Prince was a white kid from the burbs.
@@michaelbertrandobrien I think my fave is Come On Feel the Illinois.
A Country Gentlemen classic. Y’all tore it up! Good pickin
Love your energy and comradery but especially love your talent. You all make me smile!

Yeah Russ! Nice harmony!!
A bluegrass house music heaven!
Wow! Thumpin' great.
I think RUclips is bugged. It's only allowing me to give this 1 thumbs up when it clearly deserves at least 10.
These guys are each pretty special.
Same with this comment
no way, either he just doesn't have a good voice or he needs to sing this in another key. Tom sang it so good.
I've had this song in my head the last couple days..
this is flat out a KNOCKOUT!!!! tks so much
That was fantastic boys. And how about that sustain from the fiddle at the end.....wow.
Just listen to the sustain.
I'm not hearing anything.
You would though, if it were playing...
