    Clearly you need to get foreign mre's to flex on your squadmates.
    "Oh what MRE did you get?"
    "Oh you know, nothing special, just the ostrich & cranberry sauce"
    "..."
    Real talk though, some foreign mre have way better meal components than american made ones. While a bit more pricey, you can get much more filling meal I have found.

      @@MrZeaken As someone who has tried the IRP Sterum, IRP-P and IRP 24 hour, those are some great rations. However, my personal recommendation would be for the "Mountain" ration as seen here: mremountain.com/collections/bulk-and-wholesale-rations-and-mres/products/russian-mountain-rations-full-case-of-6?variant=12812069109794
      I am going through that ration right now, and lemme tell you. That thing has enough food to comfortably feed 2/3 people for a day or 1 person for multiple days if you space out components. They are bulky though, so transporting them could be a pain in the ass.

    You can fill a mountain house bag with water from your camelback or canteen, fold it up, and stuff it in a flameless ration heater so you don't need to bring a jetboil

    The Knorr brand rice/pasta sides are basically the same as a lot of actual backpacking meals only they cost like a dollar when they go on sale. When I would do long thru hikes where we'd be covering a lot of miles each day we'd pre-pack ziplock bags with a mixture of the knorr rice and a few scoops of freeze dried veggies. You can use water from an alcohol stove to rehydrate them but you can also just do it with cold water, it just takes a LOT longer to absorb. Protein powder is also another great option if you're not wanting to cook a lot because it's filling, it's light and you can mix it in one of your hydration containers to save space.

    C RATION STYLE GANG. Most of the time it is just soup of some discretion, but having a metal tube of indestructibleness that is water tight. Wraped up in a pair of socks, it is amazing. Use a can opener to pop some air holes in an empty can and you have a junk filled cooking stove. Note would rely on having canteens and water packs. Love having a 2L bladder with a 1&2 L canteen.

    My cook set is an alcohol stove made from a cot food can. Weights 4oz and works like a champ. For two days a small 4floz bottle of alcohol is plenty. With a small pot/cup to boil water, a ultra lightweight spork and a broken down French press that fits inside my cook pot (cause you gotta have coffee) it weighs about 8-9oz.

    Not sure if you have it in the US but I'm sure you have some version of it as you're the home of dodgy cheeses but we have something called Primula, a flavoured cheese that comes in something like a toothpaste tube and doesn't *really* need refrigeration. That, plus salami and crackers (seeded Rivita) makes for a really high calorie, easily transported meal, I used to live off it when backpacking. Trail mix of nuts, seeds, dry fruit and M&Ms packs a lot of feel good and energy. The *best* one overall however is flapjacks, super dense calories, packed individually, full of sugar for quick burn and oats for slow burn. 4 flapjacks can get me through a day in a pinch and I'm more than happy to live off them as they're one of my favourite treats anyway.

    So MREs are usually brand name canned food like Chef Boyardee in a bag. So as an alternative players could also just get Chef Boyardee or canned Chili or similar. They generally run cheaper than MREs and you can find them at any grocery store.

    • @MrZeaken
      @MrZeaken 5 лет назад

      Many names you know put pieces in MRE. The key to buying food you need from a grocery store is just to keep in mind of cal per oz and keep costs in mind. 1150 cal for only $6.50 is pretty cheap compared to most healthy food.

  • @southpawairsofter
    @southpawairsofter 5 лет назад +2

    I generally bring a mix of both. This offers flexibility. At Saratov(I was the guy that went up to e house at the end and was like wait are you E house??) after we wiped the Russians out of the MOUT facility, we knew they would have to wait at least 45 mins until another attack came. So we went inside the MOUT, fortified, and cooked our mountain houses’. In the evening though we weren’t sure when the Russian assault was coming, so we made MRE’s. Also I got complete cookies because of your recommendation and they were great to fit in my minimap for whenever I was hungry for a snack

    I did a 12 hour day consisting of 20 - 40 minute games. I brought 6 litres, I almost didn't have enough. I'd say use 3 litres as your base line and adjust upwards ie; if it's an autumn game, 3L should be okay. If it's a warm summer day, bring 4, if it's a hot summer day, bring 6. If it's so hot that you need to bring 8+, don't go to the game.
    Of if it's a hot day event with a bunch of short skirmishes, sit a few games out in the shade just to recover.

    • @remirez2k3
      @remirez2k3 Год назад

      i second this recomendation me and my fiance went to a local event during dead of summer and foolishly thought we would be fine, it was 107 degrees out even in the shade it was 98+ ran out of water 2/3 of the way through the day, we went home early and never finished the event. water is a MAJOR item make sure you have enough

    If you guys read these this far back... if you want MREs, look at either the long-range MREs or the cold weather MREs. You still get the calories from the snacks, but the entre is made by Mountain house... The same great camping food for way cheaper.
