I personally disagree if the parameters of the game have been set prior there shouldn’t be exceptions made, especially if everyone is there for an immersive experience like a MSW then people should be adhering to the rule set, for god sake rule number one at MSW is read the tacsop which includes what you should bring and wear.

The next MSW event which is going to be in Mexico, started with very strict uniform requierements but eventually they confront the reality of most airsoft players in Mexico; virtually nobody run impression kits even though many milsim events have been done in the past none of them really demand an accurate impression kit, so at this point MSW is loosening the rules a bit in order to get more quorum.
But you're right there's very few people who actually be willing to spend in say 40hrs loadout and impression kit + travelling+ ticket.

Our field, Roundhouse Productions out at Fort Ord, we run a typical green vs tan set up for uniform requirements and have a "lite milsim" style of game play. We run our registration online so we can get an accurate count of attendees and balance the teams out for the event, that way we can avoid going to tape.

Good video. I like your take on the game master dictating the variables of the game. When you sign up as a player for events like these you should always expect to be at the mercy of those controlling the op. As a result, things like uniform ambiguity could simply be a part of the immersive experience. That's not to say all events should be that way, as some are more or less restrictive than others. They all still share the guy behind the curtain pulling the strings, and it is his and only his vision for the game that will dictate what may happen on the field.

Hello. In Ireland, our main mil-sim events company sometimes use head gear as a uniform requirement. It is an inexpensive and easy option. People then can wear whatever kit, camo etc they want ie Boonie/bandanas V Baseball caps/Helmets. I run small introductory mil-sim style games on my local site & find it works. I usually ask people attending to bring both sets of head gear people, they divide the factions as balanced (experience & no experience in mil-sim gaming) as I can. Might work for your know small local Ops rather than tape.

  • @Malodis_

I know what you mean by catering to more casual players, but I feel the uniform requirements make the game more enjoyable for all and helps with immersion. If you're running small scale games I feel like its not necessary, but it adds to experience for sure.

For small feilds where most airsoft is played.
    Colored Armbands are most feasible.
One feild I went to puts uses colored duct tape and puts it on the back of your helmet and back of your arms.
That way you are camo from the front but colored from behind.

For an event, close to a Milsim, i think green vs tan is the best option.
We are a special club, the only one in the city (South Argentina). Arround 40 players and when someone new starts, we leave him to wear what ever he wants (if you want to dress like a giant chicken go ahead, will be fun). After the 3 months of trail, he will know that needs a multicam uniform and green jpc vest. We allready have our provider so its very easy and cheap to get them.
At the same time we recommend to use m4 plataform.
When we travel to an event its very easy to solve a problem with a mag if your partner use the same for example. From does 40 players, almoust every time there are 18 players traveling. Sometimes more, sometimes a few less. (Money for travel is the only problem).
On the other hand we do have a second uniform, woodland. Was our first camo years ago, but now its a little bit hard to find it. so we jumped to multicam.

Saludos!

    • @sanST701
      @sanST701 5 лет назад

Hey ehouse! I was the guy who came up to you at teh end of saratov and said whatsup. I dont think ive ever had a problem at milsim west events with team ID's. Most of the people have a decent head on their shoulders and can figure it out, along with good comms and good camo rules it makes it quite easy. At my local field i was wearing multicam pants with an olive long sleeve combat shirt, as to be on the green team(multicam was never stated as being on either team, but they were the only combat pants I had at college sooooo.) and I was putting in alot of work destroying vehicles that never saw me and scoring objectives. people were complaining all day because they were loosing and blaming it on my pants. I think people need to have an understanding that often times figuring out which team is which is part of both war and the game

my local field makes it pretty easy when it comes to camo requirements and that's solid color (any color that is a solid color like a grey sweater for example or blue tap) and camo (and type of camo or yellow tape) and it keeps it pretty simple even when using props or objective based games.

Nato is kinda too diverse in my opinion. Like take for example Romania. They run DPM/Woodland, AKs, and they are part of NATO IRL, so they should be on the NATO team, but who wouldnt shoot at a dude running in M81/DPM running an AK? I think it should be fixed more precisely. List of Camos with examples on NATO side, on RUSFOR side, and then people should learn that. Much easier to distinguish camos like that.

in my country there are no uniform requerements, but everybody does his best to at least look the part... when i see a lot of video's about the usa airsoft i see that a lot of people don't care, they just play with jeans, a hoodie, chestrig and a paintballmask.... in my country most people at least try wear some form of militairy outfit... I understand that for the massive Milsim west games they have clothing requirements, but we don't have that where i live... but comparing normal skirms in the usa to normal skirms in my country i think my country's players spend a lot more money to look the part... but then again you need to be at least 18 to play airsoft in my country... and in the usa i see a lot of little kids, and for those kids it's most likely the parents who pay for everything so they are less likely to buy full gear, while in my country everybody pays for it themselves so there is more of proud with everything you are wearing because it's bought with your blood sweat and tears... sometimes it is hard to see who's on wich team because everybody looks differant and you can only identify by an arm band... this made me make a lot of friendly kills :P

for milsim games i don't really see a reason to complain about there being uniform restrictions as its a 'Military Simulation' and as such you should simulate the military. if you aren't trying to simulate a military faction at least loosely then why are you attending an event which is named after simulating the military? american militias might have people in jpc's and airframes but i doubt eastern militias would be as well equipped aside from maybe AZOV.
for local fields its kinda impossible to have uniform restrictions for open play, the field i play at just has red versus yellow tape. my field couldn't even do tan versus green if it tried because many people come here in plain clothes. even if everyone who did go that day was wearing a tan or green camo there is no telling if it would be 50/50, in which case you'd end up in an unfair match which would probably lead to some salt.
