Can this video get a like if you'd want Cory as your MSW cadre?
my tip for getting ready for milsim games in general is to load up every thing that you want to bring with you on your person, and play dance dance revolution in it. if you are dying after the first song you have too much weight. take stuff off and repack from there and play some more. this will help you maximize your load out for movement and get you in shape for the event. DDR MAXX 2 is the best one if you can find it.
This is to funny
Honestly…..
tried this and im naked and still panting, i can't even finish funky town.
@@soigotthisnewanimeplot3162 that means you're trying to carry too much
Not sure how the people at Round 1 are going to feel about this, but that's a question for when I get there.
Been wearing the same 7 pairs of darn tough socks for like 4 years almost every single day (i do have some costco wool socks i picked up too that i mix in there) but I haven't worn holes in any of them. Some of them are the super thin brown ones and the others are the thick/medium cushioned green ones for winter. I've worn some of them for over a week straight (don't recommend) and they were significantly less disgusting than any cotton socks I've worn for even 2 or 3 days. And Darn tough will literally ship you replacement pairs if you mail them any that you wear holes in. Such a simple thing that I've been very impressed by. I guess I just got used to garbage quality box store stuff and didn't think that a pair of socks could be made that well. Glad I was wrong.
Canned food is heavy, but cheap, and fits within the "militia spirit"
My tip is going backpacking before you go. It will likely help you with gear management.
I just want to say thank you for taking the time to go over this stuff from the basics like socks and boots, to the advance like night vision. Personally I would take a lot of what I do when I go back country hiking to something like MilSim as a lot carries over. Love the talk!

I don't think those milsurp bivy sacks are nearly as cheap as you mention. Even about a year and a half ago the cheapest one I found (just the goretex shell) was $80 and its not perfect by any means. I wish they were $40. It's still worth $80 in my opinion and kept me warm enough with a 30 degree bag inside when it dropped down to the mid to low 30s at Hill 559.
Darn Tough socks are goated. Absolutely worth the investment. Thanks for putting this video out there guys. I'll likely reference it for the next MSW!
Don't forget: Sleep is important but 4am raids are eternal.
You can really get by without it if you have good wet weather gear and are ok sleeping outside your sleeping bag or with just a poncho and woobie liner. Just keep your sleeping bag dry for when you do get a dry night.
I got lucky and picked one up for 40 the other week, but yeah, I definitely considered myself lucky to find it for that
Those sleeping bags are probably the best army equipment I've ever used, I slept in a tent with no heat in -40 when I was in alaska. I now own two of them
Peak refuel chocolate chip cookie bites are a nice little sweet treat for long events
Super helpful video, and big ditto on the socks. Bought like 100 bucks worth of smartwool socks ahead of a season of work in the snow and it was the most decadent I've ever felt
I have been using Underamor duty boots for years. They are often so light that they need no breaking in. As comfortable today as the day I bought them. Please do not shy away from the price tags because they are awesome.
You are fighting at meal times. Breakfast items for eating at 0400 both mornings when people should be awake on watch anyway

Right away the subject of weight and carry is important.
I've been there.... that's a heavy topic! lol
Honestly, I had a load of 10 mags specifically so I could keep any and all ammo that I was given inside of them so they couldn't be grabbed when I get searched. It ended up being a bit of a moot point since this was at Aerodrome and my gun eventually went down so I just dumped what I had into the ammo box of our platoon's machine gunner because I'm about that ammo mule life.
Awesome video man! This is really great for new players. Now I want to make a video myself like this about what has failed me and what to change.
Also, I literally saw a guy come with a comforter at the second Saratov. It dropped down to 33 degrees, so it was worse than hell. No lie, this kids stands up in the middle of the night and screams “I’m trying to fucking sleep!” at two Russians blank firing from the trees.!
That's gotta be the funniest thing you could hear as you're shooting into a PB 😂
When I did MilSim 20 years ago, we did it realistic, I was a civvie but had the benefit that half the team were "Been there done that" guys from police and military, so it was easy to be guided and some stuff was just personal preference. You pack to fight and survive with a modest level of comfort, you don't pack like you#re chilling in the woods for a weekend fishing trip out and about. You trade some weight that might usually go to comfort to offset the weight of your NODS, you might take a knife for your food, but you don't take a axe to split logs and make a bonfire.
i fully plan on oce i have the gear and equipment doing a ruck or hike through a local hiking trail or smth gotta figure out an okay spot to do it but i need to make sure i can carry a ruck in the first place or if i need to work out. rn i live a fairly sedentary lifestyle and tbf this is a very very long way off but its still fun to think about
At worst, rainpants make for a good insulating layer when it gets cold or windy.
RIP Cory's masculine utilities. I was there gandalf. Saratov Resurgency.
As an active duty marine infantryman.I dont know how you pack 70lbs of gear for 2-3 days reasonably. My packs going to the field maybe can hit 60.Thats with Helmet,Plate Carrier, gun belt sleeping bag,iso mat,and waterproofing sack for the bag, both SAPI's,and 12+MRE and atleast 5L of water, for a 2 day op with my job,i am taking an assault pack with 4 MRE's,hygiene gear, full sleeping system, and an isomat clipped to the outside,i also bring like 2 pairs of shirts,2 extra shirts, most likely a tarp too, then just wear my kit
You’re over packing

awesome info, keep up the good work
cool video! thanks! can you tell more, about chain of supply in MSW? how often does resupply of water bottles and BBs? is there any limit? how the procedure looks like? thanks
So I have a question about water. I plan on attending an event in Southern California, I believe on George Air Force Base. It's hot as hell out there, and I was wondering if there were any differences in regards to the TACSOP. I read in the TACSOP that we are not allowed to go back to our vehicles. Is that just for the day, or the entire multi-day event? Does that include trips for water? Are we responsible for carrying 3-days worth of water on us, and if so how far out is the campsite in the field for that event typically? Do you know if there's any potable water on site at all? Or if there's times we're allowed to go back to our vehicles for more water?
@@timring3684 you are not allowed to go back to your vehicle during any point of the game. There is water sources available for players, but plan on carrying 3+ liters to sustain yourself. The distance from staging to your first night’s patrol base varies depending on venue, but expect a mile or so with your ruck on
@@TheBBWarrior What constitutes "game"? Is that for the entire #days duration of the event, or individual games throughout the day?
I do plan on bringing a couple canteens and my Camelbak to the tune of 3 liters. I just wasn't sure if there would be a water source, like a water buffalo, or if we'd have to carry all our water in with us.
@@timring3684from beginning to end is the game. It isn’t that hard to read the TACSOP and there isn’t an exception. If you want that you shouldn’t go to Milsim West.
@@IJA_Foxlord Dude, shut up.

You say if you are running a DMR you should consider bringing a radio, but the tacsop says only team leaders can bring a radio. Can you go into some more detail?
Does it? I'm pretty sure it says that only the Squad Lead MUST bring Comms, but I thought team Comms are fine
@@theledal "The only participants authorized to carry or use radios are:
• Any participant in the company command team
• Platoon Leaders, Platoon Sergeants, Squad Leaders, and Team Leaders
• Any participant designated by the command team only.
All other participants are strictly forbidden from using radios."
That's page 49 of the Tacsop. That said, I have never played a milsim west game (bucket list trip) so if your eyes tell you something different from a random youtube commenter, believe your eyes.
You can bring a radio. Just dont be careless with stepping all over a frequency.
Thank you for the list!
Are you guys going to Objective Orenburg in April?
if someone were to have a feeding tube, would they be allowed to play? :,)
The most surprising thing here is that MSW doesn't have water on-site. You're telling me this is supposed to be a military simulation but you can't even have a water buffalo somewhere for players?
There are water buffalos, but their location and availability depend on the AO. It never hurts to carry what you need and not rely on outside sources
Going to my first milsim this October . Milsim west in Victorville CA. How do we charge our phones ? Lol
Bring a power bank if you plan to use it for ATAK, but I power my phone off except when I want to check it and don’t have issues.
What would you take as an antitank role aside from ur main weapon and at launcher?
Good advice!
If your feet are jacked you are combat ineffective. Darn tough socks are worth every penny.
This video had me thinking Cadre's were dudes who break MSW rules lol
Is plate carrier mandatory? Why not chest rig?
It’d be cool to have something like milsim west using MILES gear.
That exist, it’s called One shepherd leadership institute
Love the videos
Do you have to have a rucksack?? because im going to the one at the end of may this year ad need to know if i cant go without it.
Some people who are highly experienced have ruck-less kits, but you’ll need a way to carry all your sustainment gear comfortably and potentially up difficult terrain
I should note, they use other things to carry their sustainment gear like buttpacks instead of a ruck
Long live Darn Tough Vermont!
Lol I used garbage bags 1 for each of my foot cause my boots got soaked and only had 1 more pair of dry socks left. I looked ridiculous.
This is an amazing way to fuck your feet up, I’ve spent a ton of time in the field in wet conditions and the best u can do is thug it out and daily change into dry socks, baby powder, dry your boots, carry extra boots
ITS CORY
I hope this isn’t a weird question but how old are you
I’m in my mid 20s
Yall are wearing plates for airsoft? Lol seems like a waste of money, space and weight to me. Just cut foam to fit in the carrier.
Lmao you literally asking airsofters to have the same physical fitness standards as wild land fire fighters and pack test 3mile 45 lbs in 45 mins that’s the test for arduous rating! Ya rite
There are airsofters and there are milsim goers. If they want to do a military simulation and not have a heart attack, then they should be physically fit enough to do so. Besides, even if someone wasn’t planning to go to a milsim, there’s nothin wrong with promoting physical fitness.
Moderate fitness can achieve that.
A 15 minute mile is just about my unweighted walking pace. MILSIM
That is alot easier to achieve than you think
