Still wish the would allow older camouflage form the 80s like taz70 Swiss and patterns that have been used by pro Russian groups like in Donbas and stuff like that
One prob I see with this is that it cuts out A LOT of old Eastern Bloc/Warsaw Pact Gear including a ton of surplus East German kit, I own East German AK-74 Mag Pouches which would make sense for a Militia using Surplus gear, and despite these mag pouches being abundant surplus in the east I wouldn't be able to use these mag pouches assuming the rule counts the camo pattern of your gear such as Mag pouches, bags and such, this would also count out some of the other more common Old Cold war era Euro Camos that militias could realistically use, I love the idea of not allowing Militia to have modern kitted rifles or camo or gear because they shouldn't have fancy gear and camouflage but I do see there possibly being SOME issues with the new ruling that don't overmind the good but still might be a little dampener, but for the most part I really do love how the new Militia rules sound.
Wait so NATO is restricted to only Multicam? So running a German Flecktarn kit or a Swedish kit in M90 is not allowed despite them being NATO allies? Also the no SMG rule blows hard, surely there is a better way of dealing with that problem.

In America if i had a Militia i can get just about every gear that our military has i dont understand how people think the rule makes it more realistic...
I feel like limiting camo other than m81 makes the problem of marsoc militia worse. It might even be better to #1 add some new camo options for nato(with perhaps stricter uniform/weapon requirements (IE flectarn must run german guns) and #2 remove m81 woodland from milita as its a nato pattern and attracts guys who want to do US impressions.
Isnt m81 a commonly used camo by actual militias across US? I mean i recently got out the marines and marsoc wasn’t using m81 woodland anymore, either woodland marpat or multicam on rare occasions. Again i might be wrong and its still an issued pattern to them but i wouldn’t know because i was a 0311. I just disagree with your opinion respectfully because i already bought all m81 woodland because its no longer a official DOD uniform and its a uniform that most militias use.
@@sheepkashur3308 you are correct however the game takes place in Europe so m81 will not be as common. The second thing is the issue of people who are basically doing NATO impressions in m81 and fighting on militia. Taking m81 and leaving other patterns I believe fixes this issue.

4:00 idk i feel a blanket 1 attachment rule is too hard. Its not like cheap red dots arent cheap, and its not like cheap flashlights arent cheap... Its not the early 2000s anymore. There are more firearms accessories that are budget oriented. Flashlights should just be allowed, but "military flashlights" restricted. A militia guy isnt gonna have a 12000lumen surefire. But he IS definitely going to have a $5 walmart flashlight duct taped to his gun. Hes not gonna have an eotech and g33, but sometimes like a sig r5 + j3 combo probably exists in china for even cheaper than an actual sig combo
hmmmm interesting. I mean they all sound pretty positive to me and that's coming from a religiously casual pick up match player. MSW is the ultimate in "Take ur airsoft Seriously" So I kind of get them being more particular about the rules when it comes to that stuff. I also think tightening up the militia could be a good option. A little curious about the one electric attachment thing though. My understanding is during the night portion of the game flashlights are dang near vital to safety so for the militia that choose the dot sight over the flashlight I could see that being a safety concern.
Well you also don't live in eastern Europe in a broke post soviet state as intenfef by the msw scenario. It's about playing and acting like your faction. as a french airsofter i wouldn't have gessed the rules for loadouts at MSW where that lose... like, the events i went to so far might have been smaller but still, they individualy looked at every player's loadout pictures that were mandatory to even be allowed to buy your tikets, regarding the militia faction i think the rules should be even more strict as my experience in a similar faction showed me how much potential it brings: a REAL assymetrical war, our gear was limited to old school rigs and battle belts, pretty much all old camos were authorised and gun wise it was litteraly fascism: no accecories appart from a flashlight taped to your gun wich encouraged us to bring more exotic stuff (i personaly brought a Galil and a M1 Garand and we saw a lot of old school G3 and M16 or FAL) in compensation to that we could litteraly bring twice as much mags as the other factions, ammo wise all guns appart from machine guns and auto rifles could only use mid cap mags loaded in real cap wich made things extremely challenging (especialy for me who only had 3 mags for each guns) i leel like MSW is trying too hard to be fair by giving every faction similar things like in call of duty but i personaly bielieve that Milsim games should be more like rising storm or squad in terms of gameplay ballence, i know it's harder to enforce but the benefit would be huge in terms of fun and immerssion.
I’m sure my comment will get lost but the tacsop says it doesn’t allow stoners or belt fed ARs, however I saw in a video with gun gamers that you use a stoner lmg at these events

funny enough I was looking and skimming over the tacsop just to have it vaguely in mind before an event that is close enough for me to attend happends about an hour before i found this video. compared the way you described militia before yeah it definitely is going to make it more "rag tag" however I think the limiting of electronic attachments might be something that would have to get tweaked around a little bit to have special instances where multiple attachments is allowed. especially since at least in current gun culture that ive seen having a properly setup rifle is very much important and I bet a percentage of those in current gun culture would join (or already are in) a militia. however this take is coming from someone who doesnt really know where the MSW team has in mind when they think militia because I am speaking from a purely american standpoint in regards to gun culture and stuff like that.
‘Militia’ in the context of MSW is (at least on paper) much more in line with a group like the DPR or foreign fighters who have come to the theater to fight Americans. They fight alongside RUSFOR, and are not supposed to be analogous to a modern American militia group in terms of equipment. When I went yes, I had an M4 with an optic (sole attachment) on loan from a friend and was wearing M81-but I was also wearing a 6B45, 6B47, with ribbons of Saint George on the helmet, a telnyashka under it all and an armband around my bicep. You’d have to have been blind to mis ID me. Compared to another militia guy (also wearing M81) I saw rocking a US flag on his shoulder, with a tricked out Mk18. And lo and behold, at the debrief he got complained about- albeit tangentially. If you go as militia don’t be guy number 2. For me, most of the fun comes from really committing to the bit wherever possible. Limit yourself where you can if you’re militia. Gucci gear for the boys in multi glam. Otherwise I’d just stay my ass home instead of rucking up and down a mountain for a weekend trying to make sure some dude doesn’t heat cat.
Limiting attachments on militia is trash. 2500 round drum mags isn't milsim anyway no matter what let alone mags with over 40 rounds. And they still haven't addressed the biggest issue
@@TheBBWarrior "It's unrealistic for militia to have camo you can order off of amazon or a plate carrier or a red dot, a light and a laser, but magic mags that hold way more than they should is ok because I use them" Imagine being more biased
I’ve never played a milsim or organized airsoft event or that matter. But from what I’ve seen in paintball running into the same issue of meta playing styles and gear limitations or lack there of. If you’re either going to outright say this event isn’t for everyone because we are playing a very specifically framed Larp and for the purpose of the game gear needs to be limited even though it doesn’t make sense in reality. Or you’re going to have to accept within reason that people are playing militia because they want to play in the gear they have meaning allowing for marsoc looking militia because because that’s the nature of the modern militia IRL around the world to have western style gear. IMO The trade off should be not multicam helmet covers, or plate carriers period for militia. Any other multicam gear must be limited to chest rigs ,belt kit and random pouches. But any player using multicam gear must commit to a non multicam Russian uniform pattern top and bottom and cannot wear m81. No drums are a good call, but militia should also be required to use combloc pattern guns and non modern nato
As an ex combat medic, this sounds so lame to me. The uniforms, the excessive rules. Sounds less fun than boring real military training. This is cringy honestly. I cant even imagine how condescending the non military nerds there are going to be. "Im dressed like a special forces colonel, respect my authority!" If you want to be soldier, Ukraine could use fresh meat kids...
I'm sure they're just trying to discourage wearing "Tacticool" headgear in general. It doesn't make much sense to wear a watch cap if expecting enemy contact. I doubt they'll mind you tossing one on to keep warm in camp though, obviously.
It won’t be allowed at all from my understanding, which I prefer. I like my stoner, but a super limited run gun from 50 years ago isn’t in the spirit of the game. There’s other events I’ll use it at
My guns are mostly set up with a vfg red dot and sling so doesn't effect me put on the other hand, the fact that my RPK16 is now classifies a glorified AK-12 is kind of a bummer. That's another $450 if I want to be a machinegunner. Im not alfonse so I can t carry a pkm and I'm not spending $1000 on a rpd. Now I need one to actually has real wood and of course it's going to be an LCT but as an owner of a RPK16, I can tell you that Battery storage and LCT isn't much better than cyma. The whole reason I use the RPK16 is because it's lighter weight but I'm also curious to if you have like the barrel extension. The rpk16 in real steel has a longer barrel for sustained fire and a shorter barrel If you are you are using it as a rifle. That's for grenades. No matter what. You're always going to be more effective if you're using something like an ASG storm apocalypse which replaced the cyclone 2 because ai is no more. As for pyros, I'm pretty sure those got clapped by the alphabet bois are considered explosive devices and that require you to have a bomb license. The confiscated my arena's eg67's. .
So much for Military simulation, i guess. I can't run my DNR kit as it's apparently now, ''Gooner'' and not being able to run LMG's because it's cheesing the system? This is some cod tier bull shit lmao. Thank god i'm getting out of this hobby.
If someone’s mad about gear changes, u might just be bad 😂. Gear doesn’t dictate performance so much. Git gud. I do hate grenades tho. It’s the easy way out. Realistic, sure ig. I’ll be damned to pay for expensive grenades to take the easy way tho. I have a video from caspian of just me in a building full of nato. Maybe 6 grenades were thrown at me in the span of 45 sec… If I walked in there with a grenade, they’d all be dead 😂. It’s alright, just not a fan is all. Still did good damage.
This sounds like trash.. I am a civilian.. not a veteran.. so in a shtf scenario, I would be considered "militia" and I own a mk18 with light, dot, nods, and basically what they are classifying as NATO.. a militia in the united states is likely to contain alot of these items.. seems like a silly concept to limit a factions gear like that based on the team they are playing.. especially if said gear would actually be applicable
They Say "Faithfull to their real world counter parts" But both AK's and M4's Have Drum mags the G36 has Double drum mag. So are they Just Gimmping Players that Run Assault rifles with Drim mags? And the Real Battle field Is never A Level playing Field. Glad I stopped Going, and Chose a Better Alt.
You are correct drum mags do exisit irl for these guns but the military does not often run them and thats what they are going for, glocks also have massive drum mags but neither the military or police use them and likely a militia force could not afford them.
I really disagree with the 2 attachment rule for Militia. That's really dumb imo. So I'm limited to either an optic so I can see where my bbs go, or a flashlight to see at night. I think it should be at least 2 attachments. The rest I don't care about. The attachment rule is just so dumb.
I suppose, but you also have battlefield pickups. But I'd rather have a balance of some realism and fun rather than arbitrary rules. I totally get not wanting Militia to run some bougie MK18 with an optic, tracer, laser, light, ect but I think they just need 2 attachments max.@@TheLAWanderer

The only people bitching about the rule changes are the ones that are the issue players who try to game the system. IMO good riddance. Its the same people who say well "5.56 is used in some DMR platforms so I should be able to use my M4 as a dmr". The rules are there to help bring variety and balance into the games. Imo the only machine guns should be belt fed ones. Even the rpk while technically a support weapon in real use is not really used like a beltfed machine gun and rarely used with a drum because they suck. militia are civilians who taken up arms - simple weapons, minimal attachments, no plate carrier etc. machine guns are belt fed/heavy not an m4/ak with a drum dmrs are 7.62 or other larger caliber. I'd love to see an "anti material" sniper class though. Something heavy like a barret but with double the med limit but extra 100-200 fps over regular sniper limit. Would give more reason to bring out those big useless snipers
To be fair (☝️🤓) there are legitimate 556 dmrs like the mk12 As well I think the significant barrel length and overall weight increase of an rpk (a legitimate rpk) should be suffrage enough But, I get what you're saying
None of these rules are realistic. You've never seen a Militia before. AZOV battalion (I'm using them because they're a eastern bloc example) have had NV since their existence, "RPK-16's" Existed for a long time, they're made to use drum mags and 45 rounders. I get it for the rules. But there's nothing realistic about enforcing standardization in a militia, the point of a militia force is to make it hard to IFF them. They need to just need to be a faction with a name at this point that isn't "Militia". And Police forces all the time continue to "Charge" as they're getting shot with their shield. Man has never been on swat liveleak for sure.
Azov Battalion at the very beginning of their existence in 2014 was a bunch of Kharkiv hooligans with german flectarn uniforms from surplus store, naked AK-74s and some mix of civilian body armors, surplus webbings/plate carriers. Also, take a look Militia in MSW universe is pro-russian group, so it reflects a 2014/2015 groups from Donetsk and Luhansk - coal miners, russian turbopatriots, cossack host larpers and little bit of Wagner mercenaries. Even the most elit units like battalion "Somalia" or "Wostok" were poorer than significant % of MSW milita gooners
@@TvoiStary Ok? And? During 2014 they certainly were not just "gooners" with kalash mate. But my main point here, is that even the fucking Taliban throughout most of the war on terror were able to use and acquire thermal units. It's what helped their soldiers kill ALL of Marcus Letrell's buddies in operation red wings. 99% of the time the only reason militia's are "gross and disheveled" is logistics and needing to blend into local populace. It makes no sense to do that unless you have loads of people playing ONLY civilians. Which they **Dont**.
These rules are dumb. If militia is a group of citizens that are grouping together there camo (if any) is not going to match up. There going to have whatever they have. And for the one attachment rule. I right now have several things on my real rifle and its what i would grab to fight with. As would other people. Why is it not realistic for someone to have a sight and a light or a laser? And drum mags, NATO and Russia both have drum mags, and its easy for civilians to get them too
For American civilians I would agree but for the eastern look they go for I disagree there isn’t a lot of options for them and they don’t have the wealth to have kited guns body armor and none mil spec magazines

I didn't know you played MSW too. That's so cool! 🙂
Let militia use surplus dpm, damnit
Good video. Cheers!
Wait so NATO is restricted to only Multicam? So running a German Flecktarn kit or a Swedish kit in M90 is not allowed despite them being NATO allies?
Also the no SMG rule blows hard, surely there is a better way of dealing with that problem.
The tacsop provides details on how to run other nato patterns besides multicam. You need a squad of nine players to do so

Never been to an MSW game, but the fact that MSW has a "RPK-16 meta" is the most frustratingly hilarious thing i've ever heard.
Sound like "no fun allowed" with more syllables, a lot less airsoft and a lot more larping (degoratory).
That’s the point lmao
I have an olive drab rain jacket I like to use, is that against reg now for NATO
These are great changes! I hope they will have more restrictions in terms of HPA replicas, etc.
What's wrong with hpa stuff?
HPA is already not seen as much at MSW because of tanks and lines killing the vibes and being annoying with rucks. And if the issue is with FPS adjustments, there are already a ton of quick change AEGs. Cheaters are gona cheat unfortunately.
Yea i havent been to a MSW event and i would LOVE to go but money and time for me are in EXTREMELY limited supply especially since my wife and i are due for our son any day now but i'd love to go as militia and rock that old school surplus gear, stock externals on my weapon and a big ol' chonky flashlight taped or ziptied on my rifle 😂 i got basically all i need for a decent militia kit. Already have M81s i'd just have a mismatched top or bottom (whichever is better for ruleset) and i got a nice chicom replica i got for like 17$ that i modified and painted and i think that setup would be AWESOME to do milsim games with. Its fun for the day and relatively comfotable and lightweight so id imagine itd be a blast for MSW
I’ve never been but I’m wondering, do they allow American style militia? Like m81 with a cheap chest rig and m4?
Yes. If you read the tacsop it’ll have details about what kit you can have on militia
That's pretty much what the tacsop states.
In America if i had a Militia i can get just about every gear that our military has i dont understand how people think the rule makes it more realistic...
So if NATO and Russia were fighting, you'd fight alongside Russia?
You hitting Salsk in March?

Personally I don't think they'll count cameras as attachments. Someone adding weight and no tactical advantage so they can get some footage and relive the memory shouldn't be restricted imo.

My understanding is during the night portion of the game flashlights are dang near vital to safety so for the militia that choose the dot sight over the flashlight I could see that being a safety concern.
i disagree on the weapon add ons , as a civilian my personal ar-15 has multiple add ons attached
Well you also don't live in eastern Europe in a broke post soviet state as intenfef by the msw scenario. It's about playing and acting like your faction. as a french airsofter i wouldn't have gessed the rules for loadouts at MSW where that lose... like, the events i went to so far might have been smaller but still, they individualy looked at every player's loadout pictures that were mandatory to even be allowed to buy your tikets, regarding the militia faction i think the rules should be even more strict as my experience in a similar faction showed me how much potential it brings: a REAL assymetrical war, our gear was limited to old school rigs and battle belts, pretty much all old camos were authorised and gun wise it was litteraly fascism: no accecories appart from a flashlight taped to your gun wich encouraged us to bring more exotic stuff (i personaly brought a Galil and a M1 Garand and we saw a lot of old school G3 and M16 or FAL) in compensation to that we could litteraly bring twice as much mags as the other factions, ammo wise all guns appart from machine guns and auto rifles could only use mid cap mags loaded in real cap wich made things extremely challenging (especialy for me who only had 3 mags for each guns) i leel like MSW is trying too hard to be fair by giving every faction similar things like in call of duty but i personaly bielieve that Milsim games should be more like rising storm or squad in terms of gameplay ballence, i know it's harder to enforce but the benefit would be huge in terms of fun and immerssion.
everyone is a winner at MSW!! :)
Would it be practicable if milsim west would only allow real cap mags?

funny enough I was looking and skimming over the tacsop just to have it vaguely in mind before an event that is close enough for me to attend happends about an hour before i found this video. compared the way you described militia before yeah it definitely is going to make it more "rag tag" however I think the limiting of electronic attachments might be something that would have to get tweaked around a little bit to have special instances where multiple attachments is allowed. especially since at least in current gun culture that ive seen having a properly setup rifle is very much important and I bet a percentage of those in current gun culture would join (or already are in) a militia. however this take is coming from someone who doesnt really know where the MSW team has in mind when they think militia because I am speaking from a purely american standpoint in regards to gun culture and stuff like that.
Alright that makes some sense then for their decisions then
Limiting attachments on militia is trash.
2500 round drum mags isn't milsim anyway no matter what let alone mags with over 40 rounds.
And they still haven't addressed the biggest issue
What do you think the biggest issue is?
I'm sure they're just trying to discourage wearing "Tacticool" headgear in general. It doesn't make much sense to wear a watch cap if expecting enemy contact. I doubt they'll mind you tossing one on to keep warm in camp though, obviously.
No more Stoner LMG for you on NATO side, yeah? Are they even allowing it on militia?
It won’t be allowed at all from my understanding, which I prefer. I like my stoner, but a super limited run gun from 50 years ago isn’t in the spirit of the game. There’s other events I’ll use it at

The rpk16 in real steel has a longer barrel for sustained fire and a shorter barrel If you are you are using it as a rifle. That's for grenades. No matter what.
Are you slow? Militia at MSW are aligned with Russia. It's based on Russian/Eastern militias, not potential American militias.
Historically Miltia's have never been best equipped. It's you defending your goat/potato farm basically.

When people complain about the one attachment just bring an extra one in the ruck and change it for night and day. Smdh it's too easy
Even the rpk while technically a support weapon in real use is not really used like a beltfed machine gun and rarely used with a drum because they suck.
militia are civilians who taken up arms - simple weapons, minimal attachments, no plate carrier etc.
machine guns are belt fed/heavy not an m4/ak with a drum
dmrs are 7.62 or other larger caliber.
I'd love to see an "anti material" sniper class though. Something heavy like a barret but with double the med limit but extra 100-200 fps over regular sniper limit. Would give more reason to bring out those big useless snipers
To be fair (☝️🤓) there are legitimate 556 dmrs like the mk12
As well I think the significant barrel length and overall weight increase of an rpk (a legitimate rpk) should be suffrage enough
But, I get what you're saying
I feel like the militia changes are going after GMR. Which is lame.
I feel like GMR is lame. They've been skirting and sometimes breaking rules for so long.
Cry about it
Azov Battalion at the very beginning of their existence in 2014 was a bunch of Kharkiv hooligans with german flectarn uniforms from surplus store, naked AK-74s and some mix of civilian body armors, surplus webbings/plate carriers.

Why is it not realistic for someone to have a sight and a light or a laser? And drum mags, NATO and Russia both have drum mags, and its easy for civilians to get them too
