it's not "casual" anymore. Half the players are literally the laziest, lowest standards, no effort degenerates. Like there are seriously people playing _for years_ crying about having to spend 200g on a mount. Like wtf. I don't even know what they're doing in the game to waste their time. They aren't playing the game (in any meaningful way) that's for sure
I think "Press F" is a fairly big mischaracterization of the scavenger hunt stuff. It's like saying an adventure game is just "click on stuff", or mario is just "Hold right and jump sometimes". Technically true, but the gameplay is in "How do I get up there" and in seeing the world. The fact is most people don't engage with it and just do guides, but if you get a group of 3 or 4 and follow the hints, and fan out, theyre fun little scavenger hunts.
@Wooden Potatoes, The mulling around and going to Lions Arch to go back to Thunderhead Keep only works if you'er in any other map than Thunderhead Keep. If you're in Thunderhead Keep when you start the story and Caith calls you, theres no mention of Lions Arch, and the instance entrace is actually the door from the final instance of the episode before, in the foundry room where the Dragonsblood spears are made. When you're outside TK, they actually add that voice line of "OK I'll get a ship from Lions arch". So no if you're playing through from start to finish without the 3 month down time, theres no sense of the passage of time.
A few comments, ill try to be brief. Stronghold. I think anet realized quite early after its release that balancing skills and prifessions for 2 very different pvp modes was impossible. We've seen this happen with other games. Basically, you balance conquest, stronhold gets wonky. Balance stronghold, conquest gets wonky. They had to pick one and they picked. Theres a lot more detail i could go into there, but im being brief. Aurene ressurection. The fact that she came back to life was excellently foreshadowed, and that "predictability" is actually evidence of cohesive writing. One may argue that it was TOO predictable, and maybe have a case, but thats a whole conversation. My issue with it that made me not too hot on the whole thing was that it lacked apparent consequence. Death needs lasting consequences; the character staying dead is one way to do that, but its not the only way. She can be ressurected, and the death can still matter in some other way, but it didn't. Theres no clear reference to the experience changing her in any meaningful way, and in lacking that lasting consequence, the ressurection did end up nullifying the impact of her death. There is some suggestion that she DID learn something in the death: (the line "we didn't lose, we learned.") Its never explored what that was. Thus, my experience as a player felt as if she just took a catnap. The devs arent confident in their own game. Simply put, they are confident in some aspects of their game, but seemingly not in others. They are very confident in their stories and map creation skills. (They should be) They should also be confident in their game's mechanics and combat system, but they seem to shy away from that element as much as they can. Nowhere in the game are you asked to buildcraft your way through an encounter. WP mentioned that in this release, you didn't interact with your skillbar at all until the last instance. I think that Teapot's feeling is correct insofar as the mechanical element of the game is concerned. (They should be though. GW2's combat system is crazy amazing.) Sorry about typos, im on my phone.
I actually don't mind the time gate. As it makes the player get familiar with the new map and events witht the tools already at their exposable. People HAD to get around with the limited mounts, mostly using the skipper, to get past these annoying cliffsides. It also showed in the fact that in the last meta event people HAD and DID pay attention to its mechanics: ley lines to glide upward, using the griffon to get the pylons. Even storms in the build up to the kralk fight people had to use skimmers for the brand storms at the start, the raptor for big gaps and even the jackel to get to very high or very low spots very fast. Traversal was tought to the players by gating the sky scale for better or worse. what i however HATE are the vague or outright false hints in the collection. Even if a hint was clear to get, it was actually wrong and one had to look up the wiki ( yes wiki first time ever had collection placements listed) in order to get the right place. and the running around the map collections should have been changed too, to make a search on all season 4 maps if not the entire game, which i liked with the elemental scale stuff.
2 1/2 years later it's quite funny how Deroir got the connection between Kralk and Glint wrong. It's actually the other way round. xD But still OMEGABrain Deroir.
Other games have events that make you learn what you're missing in the combat system and force you to get good in order to make it through certain content, and it's a really satisfying feeling! Gw2 could totally have more moments like that to make you master the game and feel like you're good at something.
Wp and deroir 😀 Also lol Deroir " I'm 90% sure the fastest people will get the skyscale". Wonder how he felt when he found out about the map currency part!
I haven't watched that Guild Chat, but Glint being Kralks mother makes zero sense due to the fact that 1. Glint calls Aurene her daughter. 2. Aurene calls Kralk grandfather. Unless dragons are birthing time travel style, it doesnt make sense for Kralk to be her sibling and grandfather at the same time.
Within the skyscale collection, they really should have merged the part in which you give a cure to the skyscale with the gathering of the eggs. It would have been better if, for example, you would give a cure to the skyscale and then a fight happens where you beat a creature to obtain the egg, instead of searching 21 eggs around the entire map for a third exploration playthrough.
I don't think too much magic makes you crazy was dropped. It seems very much in line with what we saw with Kralkatorrik. He was at outrageous levels of magic even before Path of Fire and him absorbing the magic contained within Balthazar's magic.
Imo the skyscale isn't even worth it. The hight mechanic probably just takes some getting used to but I still see myself rather dismounting to bunnyhop and swap back to griffon. Nothing more than a somewhat mobile fire field
when the commander received the call, she said she felt she needed to talk to people and tell them about their failure to kill kralk. the comm has been busy traveling around.
7:00 I believe Anet has already solved making living world story instances worth going back and doing. In season 2 they released a really cool stat combo(nomad) and the only way to get nomad rings/accessories was to do every achievement for a patch. Off the top of my head i don't even remember what season3 gave outside of skins.
The skyscale thing, I think a good example is the difference between that and how the Griffon was launched. Let's ignore the costs etc, more how it was announced. Griffon was also a surprise what you'd needed to do, but the difference is that we didn't know anything about it beforehand so there were no expectations. Whereas when tied to a living story, the expectation is it comes with the story. Also, in terms on unlocks, if they don't want to have ingame skins, how about it just adds something light cosmetic to the base mount but also unlocks a full dye palette for the mount?
I am convinced that 500 cooking will give us same top tier foods stats so they do not power creep it but will add on account bound stats like karma find, gold find, magic find, xp boost (and new) but on your best in slot food so butternut stuff with gold find if you want. Making it better than the original but you’re not forced to make it to stay optimal and it would never make the previous version useless since this is fairly optional. It also would let you custom what kind of extra stat you wanted so if you preferred karma over magic find on your veggie salad, well that’s up to you. I have absolutely no clue how they’ll redo the market for crap food tho but I’m really looking forward that.
Honestly that seems like a massive waste. The people who would use this food ate likely to be doing raids or t4 fracs, and karma/ gold would be irrelevent...
At around 1:15:00 If I may pitch in about the story, a bit late but what ever, there is one ramification that maybe the devs might play with when it comes to putting the Charr homelands into the story so far. Ascalon and the Legions are still technically working on a peace teatry, so now that Kralk is done for, what if the legions start to pull forces from the Branded Scar, now that it's probably no longer as active as it was before, and start putting military pressure on Ascalon to get them to agree to their therms for the treaty since now humanity even lost its gods? And that then causes some drama as a set up for the next big reveal, what ever it is. I doubt the Devs want to put geopolitical storylines in a game about killing Giant Ancient Magic Eating Dragons, but that's just my two cents.
99% sure huh? Wrong. last collection is 35 gold, 500 trade contracts, 1500 volatile magic and 250 of every season 4 currency to make a saddle. THANKS ANET
I think it could have been interesting to link the Skyscake masteries behind progression of achievements. There are 4 parts. Could have gotten mount on part 1 and 1 more mastery for each future part. Would have enhanced the mastery system to last longer than 2 seconds, even if artificially. Could also have had an enhanced skin for tier 4 or 5. Even if just 4 dye channels and otherwise no changes.
I think the Jewelry 500 will actually soley focus on the Legendary Runes/Sigils thing that was mentioned and have nothing to do with legendary trinkets
dont have a lot of time, work most days at least 10 hours and 6 days a week, i use guides so i can get stuff done some what inline with the rest of my friends ingame
The Skyscale requires you to do the meta to get the medicine and get meta currencies from all the maps, among other collections, don't think they are right when they say the mount is unflavourful. Also, I think anet need to focus on making the game good and not pleasing the playerbase so much. I want to EARN things in the game not just expect to get it.
And regarding 1-burning AB not being such a big deal: I know it's hard for professional GW2 players to grasp that there are players who can only play once a week for a couple of hours. And if they are trying during their one playtime this week to get an amalgamated gemstone and a bit of gold and some narcissistic yahoo decides he'd rather waste everyones' time by griefing AB, there's nothing the other players can do about it BUT get mad. The griefers are the problem, not those getting upset with them.
I don't know why they couldn't have the bosses etc in the living world as dungeons or something I'll never play any of it ever again because there is no reason to. I also think they should have prestige mount skins
Except in the LS Finale while fighting atop Aurene she calls kralk Grandpa and earlier Glint alludes to a falling out with Kralk. Kralk is older Than Glint. Also i miss the Great Owl Who Died buying Glint and everyone time She has an old shrine in gw2 that's dilapidated and full of owls. Its the owl Spirit wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Owl_(spirit) Sad that shes not more well represented as a hero By the Norn as she saved their bacon.
Anets biggest problem is their failure to put their foot down and decide if GW2 is a real game or a friggin' mobile game. Also it's important to remember that companies create the audience which use their product. ArenaNet made it's bed, made it's audience, by making a game that never challenged them, even when it said it would, by handing everything to them for free.
If they would end the support for gw2 i would NEVER play a game of anet again, no matter how good it would be. If they would bring another game and support gw2 i might play it if it looks fine.
If they need to timegate content to keep players playing , they could just timegate all the other content that already has a precedent of being timegated. Or at least communicate to the players that one of the main market points will be timagated, when other content like that wasn't. The whole timegated collection could be about a skyscale skin for example or ascended gear or anything else.
"It doesn't count as a sacrifice, if you come back like a day later." Isn't that what Jesus did, tho? Like...he's kinda known for having sacrificed himself. Not that I disagree with you, necessarily. Just saying.
The time gates were creepy in a way that there were to many and some of them were way to stupide... Butright... I and all the people i onow that actively play the game are very very happy with the game right now
Since no one has skyscale yet, we don’t know what kinds of rewards are tied to all the skyscale adventure/rifts you can do once you get all the masteries.
It's a shame seeing these guys getting burned out, especially Deroir; might I suggest you folks play and stream some ESO, get a fresh experience while killing time until GW2 starts season 5 this winter?
I definitely don't think they're getting burned out. Rather, they're brainstorming ways in which GW2 can improve, and also discussing the shitty skyscale acquisition process :)
let it be easy but have multiple fights with specific weaknesses ect. so you have to build for every type of damage or get friends or just fight for a long time.
gw1 was a much better game than gw2..press 1 and all the particle effects plus the achievement base of " game play " ruined it for me. I miss farming hard content for awesome green weapons. vs chasing boring achievements for something..
wasting money one one time single playing casual type. why not make dungeons and raids with story and progress with that? then everyone would have motivation to do it.
As I said in the previous Teapot video: "When I watch any of these or other streamers, I wonder what they really want. They want the Story to be hard FOR THEM, but they don't seem to realize that if the game is hard for the elite, the more casual players (which there are far more of) have no chance. If the casual players can't complete the story, they quit. GW2 loses half or more of its money and that is the end of GW2. What I want to hear is what these guys think should be done about that."
What do you mean people will quit if the content is hard to complete? THIS IS A GAME, there is better storytelling in movies and books, go do that in your free time if you think that the best gameplay is afk pressing 1 and watching cutscenes.
@@Pedro-jf4hw I didn't say that. I said people would quit if they can't complete the Story. The Story is the central point to GW2 and everyone should be able to complete it.
Its important to relaize that these elites arent actually asking for the game to be hard. (They might say that, but not everyone is 100% accurate with what they say in conversation) 1.) As it is right now, the game ISNT easy, its unfailable. There are no fail states in story. Even dying just rezzes you and the enemies dont regenerate hp. Some story chapters will actually complete themselves even if you afk! Thats not what an easy game looks like, thats not even a game. 2.) A bit of difficulty is good for you. Like broccoli. You might hate it at first, but you'll tolerate it eventually, because it will make you healthier. If the game was a little bit more challenging, players would become better at it. If the general skill level was higher, a higher level of difficulty wouldn't seem so daunting. People would "git gud" without even really noticing. Then they WOULD be able to complete story just fine.
@@briannitzschke2767 At the start of this video several of them (if not all) said that they wanted the Story to be harder. They were very clear, so I'm not sure what you mean unless you are saying that ALL of them didn't mean what they said.
@INKS When you guys made the remarks about wanting the Story to be harder, you said "the Story", not just this episode. It is true that the past 2-3 episodes have been getting easier (speaking as a Filthy Casual). But I didn't get the impression that you all meant only the most recent should be harder. And WP made a video about how easy the Story is in general.
The best part is that they are having WP as a guest. Nothing more. Those 3 guys did nothing for the community besides beign elitist and having passive agressive behaviour to each content Anet released.
the aurene revival removed all care I had for death in the game. I Alt-F4ed the patch, not because I was angry but because it was early in the morning and I am an Australian... Where I was happy to get in and see the new map after the extended wait I nolonger cared. Wound aurene, have her recover from a wound thanks to jokos magic... but don't release talks about how death is meaningful, a soppy trailer... and immediately go HEY GUYS PSYCH... fuck right off with that hacky writing shit. And if she was wounded, don't have it be an instant recovery either... pad out the episode a little. Episode 1 had me feeling this season, it had solid story missions and felt like it hit multiple story beats... episode 6 was nice but only because it was an ending. It is better than season 3 but worse than either expansion imo. Again, fuck whomever either forced the writers into this position or if it was the fault of a writer actually thinking this was a cool way to go... go back to basics, this sort of shit is why MMO stories are ragged on. Serial TV series do a better job, the bloody adventure paths from D&D or Pathfinder do a better job (and before someone mentions, yes paizo employed jessica price, yes she was let go for the same sort of behaviour, she was not an adventure path writer and works better in world building and lore from what I have seen)
GW2 has the most hardcore casual community
and I'm proud of it!
it's not "casual" anymore.
3+ hours of tea time? that's longer then your average living world story episode!
Wp gives us 30 min videos on 30 second trailers. I dont think they tried hard enough on this one XD
I think "Press F" is a fairly big mischaracterization of the scavenger hunt stuff. It's like saying an adventure game is just "click on stuff", or mario is just "Hold right and jump sometimes". Technically true, but the gameplay is in "How do I get up there" and in seeing the world.

Even storms in the build up to the kralk fight people had to use skimmers for the brand storms at the start, the raptor for big gaps and even the jackel to get to very high or very low spots very fast.

Isn't that what Jesus did, tho? Like...he's kinda known for having sacrificed himself.
Not that I disagree with you, necessarily. Just saying.
The time gates were creepy in a way that there were to many and some of them were way to stupide...
Butright... I and all the people i onow that actively play the game are very very happy with the game right now
Where is the season 4 legendary amulet, i was 90% sure They will make another trinket in season 4 + i got jebaited by [&AgHCXAEA] datamined.
Since no one has skyscale yet, we don’t know what kinds of rewards are tied to all the skyscale adventure/rifts you can do once you get all the masteries.
You got that right, if they added a sub fee, I would stop playing gw2 :)
Prestige mount skin.... never going to happen :(
Hi big fan
Deroir is very whiny.
Charged quartz crystals is the most idiotically designed material in Gw2
let it be easy but have multiple fights with specific weaknesses ect. so you have to build for every type of damage or get friends or just fight for a long time.
gw1 was a much better game than gw2..press 1 and all the particle effects plus the achievement base of " game play " ruined it for me.
(They might say that, but not everyone is 100% accurate with what they say in conversation)
1.) As it is right now, the game ISNT easy, its unfailable.
Good thing Brazil wasn't here, he would have outshone everyone but Derioir.
Its nice seeing deroir getting more entitled, self contradictory and out of touch every month
How so
