I watched a TV show where they found a grave of a high ranking Viking, believed to be in the area, and from the same era, that Ivar the Boneless died. The skeleton had a load of hack marks on its pelvic bone, and had a boar's tusk placed between its legs. So, the new theory is that Ivar's corpse was mutilated by English soldiers, who chopped off his genitals on the battlefield, and that his name 'Boneless' came from the fact that he had his tackle chopped off after he died in battle.
