Im in Scotland and due to have my first hip replacement surgery in 3 weeks time. Thank you Doctor for putting across the information in such a calm concise way!👍👏👏♥️🏴🇺🇸
Thank you for the video. I'm a little concerned after watching because I'm "limpy gimpy" all the time- not the first steps. Looking forward to the appointment.
My situations a little different. I’m 58, had a THR in March. Went great for 7 wks then dislocated out of the Blue. The fall after the dislocation also fractured my spine (nobody in the ER knew at the time). They sent x-rays and scans to my surgeon and reset my hip. He could not find anything wrong and told me to continue with my re-hab etc. 4 days later it dislocated again while I stood folding a blanket. I was alone, no phone in hand. I yelled to my phone ‘hey SIRI, call so and so!’ Thank God it worked! My husband, kids and an ambulance all showed up quickly. Same EMT as I’d had 4 days earlier and a sweetheart! He tried to soothe my nerves saying, ‘well you just can’t get rid of me can you?’😊 Ambulance scraping me off the floor halfway between my bedroom/hallway. The ER reset it again while I wanted to die at that point because the pain both times was ungodly. My surgeon had me sent to his hospital and admitted his fault to my family. The ball and socket were at the wrong angle for me. It’s not one size fits all. His partner found the issue. He then did a revision. A different angle, as well as a bigger ball/socket. My situation is that this is taking SO much longer to heal. I heard revisions do???I’m very depressed and have PTSD so bad from the dislocations fearing it will happen again. It likely won’t but the pain has been awful and of course the spine fracture doesn’t help. I can’t do my PT as good as before. I can’t sleep good at all. I’m on a cane 24/7. I can’t shower without my husband helping me in/out. We went as far as calling BathFitters to have our tub converted to a walk in shower because im terrified of going over the tub wall etc. It’s been a nightmare but it’s slowly coming. My surgeon said it’ll be the end of July before I ‘turn the corner.’ I hope he’s right. I just want to get back to my life. Today is 8 wks post-op. My first surgery was in March, the 2 dislocations/fracture and hip revision were all in May so it’s been a LOT to take on. My physician has me on several meds for pain, nerve pain (the spine), anxiety, PTSD,…….i hope things improve soon. I was just curious where I should be at this point, given these circumstances???!
Do the prescribed exercises, walk for two miles daily when the weather is clement, no ice! I was able to walk into my post op at seven weeks! The surgeon told me to continue using crutches 'til week 10. Complete recovery.
wow. After 3 weeks no crutches, but no ex ,too.No PT . you dont need. PT for me made my leg worse and slowed down my recovery. The first hip replacement. The second one ,no PT. Much better.
Very helpful. Much information in a very clear presentation. Thank you from Sweden 😊
