Looks like I'm going to be spending the winter TIED TO THIS F***ING COUCH!!!!
Okay, I see what you did. I love that line, but the delivery was incredible by the actor.
Haha nice touch there
We need also "They Live" Expanded. J. Carpenter is a genious!
I'm gonna grab a copy of this, a bottle of J&B and head up to my shack and get drunk.
Good idea!
I see what you did there. 👍
I'm guessing this'll be AFTER you fry your Chess Wizard?
@@joshuahermanson341 It’s okay, Chess Wizard is a cheating bitch.
or be on the radio sleeping like Windows
The Thing is my favorite movie of all time. I was 17 when it was released in 1982. Thank you John Carpenter. 🍿
Hah! I was 15! And it's definitely one of my most rewatched movies ever!
It's my favorite movie too it's my comfort movie when I can't sleep funny enough lmao
It’s been one of my favourite sci-fi horror movie classics for decades and especially for my re-watch list in the Halloween month. 🎃
Please get Kurt
We'll do our best
Yes!! Let's cross our fingers. He's still friends with John, so good chance.
Russell is a Legend to us Carpenter fans
Please get Goldie....It'd be funny.
No need
The greatest science fiction / horror / monster B-movie ever made. The practical effects alone put any modern digital effects sci-fi film to shame.
Gun to my head “Aliens” and “The Thing “ would be the two films I’d want to receive the “Expanded” treatment. Glorious!!
Checking my mailbox everyday hoping today is the day “Aliens Expanded” arrives.
Please get Keith and Kurt
I’ve been avoiding watching this movie on 4K due to fear of it diminishing how good the effects looked. After watching this I feel like I need to order the movie on 4K immediately
Do it. It's awesome.
It's amazing on 4k. You definitely won't be disappointed!
The 4k is amazing. I promise!
I never noticed Copper's Nose Ring until I watched it in 4K.
@@Uilleam72 Same 😂
"Aliens Expanded" was absolutely brilliant so I am very happy "The Thing" is now getting this treatment.
Thank you!
@secondchance6603enjoy that island your on sir ....
@@CREATORVCLIVEany chances of Tremors Expanded.?
“The Thing” has pretty consistently been in my top three favorite movies of all time.
Although, if I’m being honest, I prefer not knowing the infection timeline stuff. I’ve had some stuff pointed out to me and I’ve tried to block it out of my memory. Half the fun of “The Thing” is never knowing who’s infected and who’s not.
That's how Carpenter wanted it. Speculation and constant theories. It worked, because to this day it's still discussed who was the Thing, especially the end. They don't make em like they use to.
Same man, top 3
Me too, along with The Terminator and Aliens. Been in my top 3 since it came out and I saw it in the cinema first run and walked home at midnight on dark streets that made me twitchy. That’s when you know you’ve seen a good movie.
I wish I could watch it for the first time again.
Completely agree! Kinda hate people's desire to over-analyze and dissect. The 'mystery' is what makes it all golden.
As a film critic, I was lucky enough to interview cast members and Carpenter after a screening of this version of "The Thing" during a press opportunity in NYC.
@@dstalent4105 can you do a video and share your experience? I bet it would be really interesting
A phenomenal story & movie indeed!
MY FAVOURITE HORROR FILM.🫣😃👍
This is going to be exciting. I saw this in 1982 at twelve years old. It has been my most favorite sci fi/horror movie of all time. I still watch it to this day. Even the prequel was decent. My only issue is that they didn't do a third one where the thing makes it back to population. I'm hoping some day, someone will make a movie showing that.
Would love to see them do the fog expanded
The Fog Remake right?
I've watched this movie well over 1,000 times.
BEST MOVIE EVER!!!
In my opinion.
I'd love to see every scrap of this movie. Don't care what it is, just want to see more.
The Thing Expanded? You've got to be fucking kidding me... I'm in!
Haha! Welcome on board
I LOVE The Thing!
Two of my favourite films of all time. Aliens and The Thing.
Sooooo looking forward to this 👌
If this film could give me nightmares for weeks after first watching The Thing, Thats how I know it was a horror film well made!
One of the best films ever put to screen
There’s always one of those
Awesome! I just placed my order! I am so impressed with 'Aliens Expanded' I HAD to pick up 'The Thing Expanded'. Hoping you get Kurt and Dean Cundey on board for the project! Thanks CREATORVC... you guys ROCK!
YOU ROCK! Thanks so much
They need to do They Live.
I love every single frame of this movie.
John You are the perfect visionary to do a Dead Space live action movie 😮❤
Masterpiece 🌟
Why don't we just wait here for a little while.....see what happens?
Probably the greatest sci fi movie ever - and I loved the sequel prequel as well
John Carpenter's: The Thing is my favorite movie and has a great making of that people should watch. What i don't always want is explanations to movies. I remember when i saw making of the first Alien movie and some producer or someone said "I want to know what that ”alien pilot” is on that ship. That is what we now know as Engineers. And when i saw Prometheus i went: "Damn, now i know what is in the first Alien movie." Things don't always have to have answers and just let us ourselfs discuss and wonder what things might be. Still going to watch this because they have made good documentaries and i am a huge John Carpenter fan.
And so this one is here! Excited to see what you put together, as usual. And here for this. Really looking forward to it. Thanks again, everyone, for all the work. See you!
Thank you!
If the cancled syfy sequel ever gets brought back, that would be pretty cool. Sometime in john carpenters life would be great for its release.
John Carpenter starting to look like David Lo Pan.
lol... Exactly! lol...
INDEED!
Hahaha
Best movie ever
Looks amazing! Can't wait to dive into this
What is the runtime for this documentary?
We estimate the runtime will be between 3.5 - 4.5 hours.
What a great movie
"Funny things. I hear funny things out here." I have used this line for over 40 years now.
One of the best movies I've ever seen.....soundtrack is off the charts
Kurt Russell kills it in this movie
I have 4 different copies of this film, it's absolutely brilliant.
I love older films that don't explain everything, it's one of the problems with the expansion of the Alien universe.
The xenomorph was made by an angry robot?
No, no that's not what I pictured at all.
The Thing doesn't need explanation beyond what the characters discover themselves.
Well said 👏
Jeez- how about tackling David Lynch’s Lost Highway while you’re at it?😂😂
I’ll definitely get a copy of this.❤
This movie has so much. One of my fave thriller/horror flicks.
I have seen “The Thing” released in 1982 more than Star Wars and Aliens, John Carpenter’s “The Thing” is an absolute masterpiece, thank u JC
My favorite horror film of all time
Always wished Creative Assembly had made a game of The Thing with the same passion they made Alien Isolation, love this movie.
The original Ps2 thing game is actually fantastic and it’s being remade and was given its blessing by Carpenter.
@@jonisafreak3 Yeah, it was a great game back in the day, not too sure how well the remaster will hold up though.
Look at the respect all of these guys show towards us, the fans. Hey Disney do this stuff when promoting your shows and movies.
I swear to God, I just so happened to put on a shirt based on the movie right before I saw this in my recommendations. Holy shit! The shirt is grey and in black it has that iconic image that's on the poster and right below it in black letters it says, "Who goes there?".
Original novella title.
I've been on a "The Thing" obsessive binge recently and this is really psyching me up. Can't wait to see this deep dive!
Thank you! It's going to be an awesome journey
I love this movie. My brother and friends still talk about it now and again to this day.
Looks awesome! Would be great to see Rob Ager of Collative Learning involved on some level (if he wants to), he has the best The Thing analyses around IMHO.
I'm still trying to make my way through Aliens Expanded (sorry, got a lot going on), but I'll definitely support this.
Thank you!
To me the 80s THE THING! Was the greatest horror movie ever made! The ending was the greatest ending in any horror movie!!
Cosmic Horror is back baby
The opening scene of The Thing immediatly sets the mood for the entire movie. Thank you to everyone involved in the realization of this timeless masterpiece.
Awesome film - hands down!
great movie I watched many times, not like the new movies like starwars or marvel movies that I don't even remember the titles anymore and I don't even watch the trailers anymore :)
What we need is an old school carpenter kick in the ass. One last time. One last masterpiece. Even if it’s just for fun and cheese.
Super excited. Hope to see Kurt Russell, and all the rest of the cast who are still with us. And i hope to see more of these 'Expanded' documentaries, like maybe do one on Transformers 1986, Predator, The Fly, Evil Dead, etc.
We'd love to cover all of those!
@@CREATORVCLIVE Whatever you decide to cover, I'm in. Love yall's work.
Thank you!
Take my money. 💰 I'm in! Subscribed! 💯
Thank you!
Wishing you the Best with this project as with all of your Projects, CreatorVC crew! ❤👍
Thank you!
One of my top 5 movies of all time.
The real star of the movie is Rob Bottin.
Awesome! If John is up for it, then his whole directorial work expanded would be great! Loved Big Trouble in Little China and Halloween and They Live! and .....keep up the great work guys and gals and such!
One of my favorite Sci-Fi films of all time.
The first movie I remember watching multiple times (in cinemas first release)
You get Bottin, you get my money.
Yes! Rob Bottin please!!!
Well said, never seen many interviews with him and that saddens me
@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE He was on the most part of The Thing DVD supplements.
@@Emulous79yes and that’s all really. the guys one of the greatest SFX artist of our time up their with Baker, Winston and Savini and yet he’s been a complete recluse his entire career.
JC needs to make a sequel and bring back an older Kurt Russell found living in the Antarctic or in South America.
I hope John carpenter directs at least one more movie
The Bennings scream is still the most blood curdling sound in horror cinema history
After this you guys should do a Police Academy retrospective. Before everyone else is gone.
that would be a cool idea but another company is covering Police Academy.
@@CREATORVCLIVE I had thought that that production company was bankrupt
THE THING, ALIENS and THE FLY(Cronenberg). THAT's my cinematic trinity.
Easily my favorite sci fi/ horror film
I'm on board 100% 🤙
Cool. Awesome monster designs.
first goddamn week of winter 🤘🏻
My favorite movie of all time hands down. I believe that I own every copy of The Thing collectors editions, both foreign and domestic. Just because!!!.
This movie was a serious mind f**k! Most watched it and looked at it as classic sci-fi horror. But it's deeper than that. John Carpenter knew what he was doing and was ahead of his time.
If you have the dvd with commentary you will also be very impressed by it. It is the best commentary that I ever listen to with a movie
Yo John...How come we never got a sequel???🤔
In 2004 My Dad Got Me The Game & In 2005 I Watched The Movie.
I Knew My Dad Had Amazing Taste In Movies.
Forever Grateful 💙
Where do I watch this?
you can pre-oder here: thethingexpanded.com/
Number 3 on my "20 films to watch before you die" list.
Greatest terror movie ever. You will become the Thing's meal. Who's who? I believe it will come between the Thing and cats who takes over the World. Mine just knocked off a plate and broke it😢. He may be a Thing or ate one...
I am afraid of no man but.... that THING it scares me...
Watched this recently with my kids that are probably as old as I was when I first saw it decades ago. I was glad to see if didn't disappoint. One of my all time favs! What was it with 80's movies that made them so friggin' good!?
Great question!
One of the best horror film of all time 👍
TRUE
Love this, loved Aliens Expanded, will back this on payday next week, woop!
Awesome,and thank you!
F@#KING AWESOME!!!❤❤❤❤❤
The music there is so great
I hope they'll do a 3rd film. The host from a tv series about movie mistakes talked about the prequel film and said "The Thing a prequel to The Thing and if there will be a 3rd film and should be called And Another Thing.
Get Rob Bottin on board please!!!!!!!!!!!
we will try!
NICE!
I would LOVE to see any footage or unused practical effects regarding the lost Nauls assimilation scene.
I can't mention another film that has been begging for a sequel for decades more than The Thing.
What happens when the Thing breaks out into civilization? This can easily be a trilogy if not an ongoing franchise where humans first discover the outbreak and are overwhelmed by it as the Thing takes over the population. Then how humans find ways to quickly detect and destroy it. Then how to destroy the Thing on a mass scale.
How this hasn't become a franchise yet on the level of Predator, Terminator, Alien, etc. is beyond me.
Blair’s notes of it could’ve imitated millions of planets in millions of galaxies pretty much says it all.
IT crashing in a frigid climate was the Hail Mary needed for humanity on earth but the ending is open to interpretation.
Was Childs infected when missing?
Was MacCready an alien- an individual separate cell, killing other aliens in disguise to save itself?
Look at what’s happened to those franchises though. I’m glad “The Thing” remains a singular film with absolutely no sequels or prequels whatsoever. ***cough***
@@DoctorBatmanMDThere was a sequel mini-series planned to release back in 2005, but it was canned due to a lack of funding for the practical effects. Though you can read the scripts online.
This is one of the Top 10 Horror films of all time so thank you for doing this.
THE THING EXPANDED ?
GIVE ME A HELL YEAH 🍻🚁🔥🥶 🤘😎🤘
And when you consider that the video game is getting a remake! 🎉🎉🎉
A remake with mods haha. That doesn't look like a remake
Please make more the thing is so cool movie
As a kid a stepdad took me to the original, scared the crap out of me. This one scared the crap out of me as an adult. I need to see it again. Lol
