Seraph is an Agent from the first Matrix: The Paradise Matrix. Seraphs are one of the choirs of angels in Christian Mythology, and that's why he appears to have golden code when Neo looks at him. When the Paradise Matrix was shut down due to human rejection of it's perfection, Seraph chose to enter the service of the Merovingian in exchange for continued existence rather than being repurposed at the Source. He disliked the things he was forced to do, however, and left the Merovingian to serve as the Oracle's protector. The Twins (aka the Ghosts) are Agents from the Nightmare Matrix, the second one, where all of the monsters and terrors of humanity's past were made real. This Matrix didn't work either, and they also sought refuge with the Merovingian. This is why they can phase in and out of reality, that's part of their programming from the Nightmare Matrix. The Merovingian himself (named after the dynastic line of Frankish kings during the Dark Ages, including Clovis, the 1st King of the Franks, and Charles Martel, the grandfather of Charlemagne) is rumoured to be an Operating System who chose to go into business for himself within the parameters of the Matrix, and is thought to be one of the oldest programs known of. As he has created a vast organization that he controls, along with laying the groundwork for other programs to do their thing, his status as an OS is likely. This film is also where the concept of introducing code within food in the Matrix is introduced, when the Merovingian sends that girl the slice of cake. Remember when the Oracle gave Neo the cookie in the first film? That was activation code, like a patch, installed when he 'rebooted' after being shot by Smith. As for the Architect, he purposefully speaks using 'big' words to try to confuse Neo and see if he's following along, and it was done intentionally by the filmmakers to confuse the audience as well. Essentially: humans will only accept the Matrix as reality if they are given the opportunity to question its reality on a subconscious level. Those who do eventually find a way to exit it, and pull others like them out, thus maintaining the stability of the Matrix to a point. When the unplugged population grows to a certain size, the Matrix becomes unstable as more and more begin to question, unless "The One" returns to the Source. He is the result of the recursive coding errors that are built up over the years by this method, and by recompiling his data and rebooting the Matrix, they can restabilize it and keep the human population within from self-destructing. This time things did NOT go as planned, and Neo chose to save Trinity over the whole human race, because he believed that he could fight the Machines and win. Since he did what no other One has done and exited the Source with the anomalous code, he becomes wirelessly connected to the Matrix (hence why he can zap the Sentinels at the end with his brain outside the Matrix, and why he collapsed, it was too much for his meatbrain to handle). Also, keep in mind that this is where Smith is shown to be the Anti-Neo: his speech about purpose, his desire to enforce conformity by turning everyone into him, directly contrasts with Neo's role as that of the Liberator, The One with free will who can choose. This is why Smith continues to chase him: Neo is the embodiment of everything he is not, and he feels compelled to force him to conform, to submit to his design.
There's also the theory that the "Golden code" is a representation of Illimination/Enligthement or of a Matrix code based on love, instead of based on Domination and control.
The Architect's speech always fascinated me. He's essentially saying nothing sometimes, which is why eventually Neo replies "bullshit" and then the Architect, with a smile, replies "quite so". He was testing Neo's willingness to accept something that doesn't make sense - which is in essence what the Matrix is, its a fake world that isn't quite right no matter how convincing it tries to be.
Sometimes i feel like watching these Movies in their Dub of my native language when i watched them the first time really helped me better understand that scene because it being confusing at all was kinda news to me lol. It seems the dub script was very much simplified and easier to understand somewhat. But maybe thats just me tho i dunno^^
Cassie's expressions trying to understand what he was saying: 🤔😕🤔😯😲😦🤔😐🤯 Cassie's expressions were exactly like mine when I first watched this scene. He speaks with such high intelligence that it's mind blowing
i was always surprised by the architect's relaxed reaction to Neo stepping to the door on his left. Shouldn't he be like "Where are you going? Didn't you listen to what i have been saying?"
Ironically, I think Keanu WOULD care that you're supporting him by watching his movie, even all these years later. Because that's the kind of person Keanu is.
well they did build a piece of Highway just for that.. One of the biggest projects building a highway that looks just like the real thing the only thing that wasn't real was the background
@Jens Persson Not John Woo (who's more of a straight gunfight action director). The Matrix martial arts fighting was mostly choreographed by Yuen Woo-Ping, famous for his seminal work with Jackie Chan, Jet Li, and Donnie Yen.
"she lied to him once" - the Oracle never lied to Neo, in the first film she told him "you have the gift but its like your waiting for something, your next life maybe", then once Agent Smith killed him and Trinity brought him back to life he was finally able to see the matrix in code, signifying he had just became "the one"
Its a bit complicated, but she's neither being honest nor dishonest. She's doing a typical 'oracle' thing in stating facts and then suggesting possible (vague) outcomes while allowing the subject to lead themselves. Its a form of manipulation (though likely not malicious in her case) where she just says whatever the other person wants to hear, while making people believe she's predicting the future when really she's just made statistically probabilities that she's nudging in the right direction.
@@andromidius Except she is literally telling the future based of previous versions of the matrix and not just giving vagaries for people to mold themselves into truth.
@@ringod123 No she's not. She can't predict outside of the Matrix. So she's literally manipulating Neo and the rest of the gang by giving them vague descriptions of what's going to happen. And she doesn't let them discuss those predictions between each other. In other words - she's manipulating them to the best of her abilities taking in consideration the random choices they make. Remember - she's an intuitive program that wants to end the war.
@@andromidius You're describing "cold reading", I think, but that's not what's happening with the Oracle. She can genuinely see the future, at least in the narrowing range of possible options the future holds as they move forward toward it. But she also used a more basic Socratic trick, as follows: If you listen closely, you'll notice that, when Neo asks if he's the One, she never answers. Instead, she asks him what he thinks she's thinking ("You already know what I'm going to you"), which is a nice little distraction from the fact that she's actually asking what he thinks in a roundabout manner. Neo has no basis to guess what the Oracle would say, so his response would be driven entirely by his own projected opinion. And he says exactly that, and it's "I'm not the One". Arguably, that status was decided right there, at least for the time being. If he'd said "I am the One", he might have become it right then.
I love the fact that The Architect literally says 'You remain irrevocably human, ergo some of my answers you will understand and some of them you will not'. Clever writing stating that this will be confusing AF, so we are never really meant to fully understand it.
The Architect _really_ doesn't like humans. He was created to house our minds, which is _way_ too hard even for him. So he's just ramming a square peg into a round hole, and if the round hole doesn't give, that's the hole's fault. The human's fault.
My favorite part is when he admits he's gaslighting Neo and then does it again with the very next thing he says. Admitting it was just to give Neo a false sense of one-upping him (which also doesn't work, because Neo still sees through his BS.)
@@praetorian3902 Despite understanding that your comment was meant to be humorous, and I thought it was don’t get me wrong considering the emoji you tried to make it at the end, your statement makes me feel, despite how nice or good natured some people can be, your statement makes me think people in general are not educated enough in what pertains to these movies, and at least this scene alone, which would be philosophy, and just having a higher vocabulary in general. I like watching this scene and even when I saw it the first time, I understood a good 80% of it which is more than the people out there that are still confused about it. 🤷🏻♂️
That was fantastic. had a very "Buffyspeak" quality, and I do it myself. I mean, his name is not actually important to the plot, he's a bad, he has the next plot device, go talk to him
It's also worth noting that the kid that's obsessed with Neo is a character from the Animatrix anthology movie. You may want to consider watching it if you want to learn more about the history of the conflict between humans and machines, as well as enjoy some really fantastic stories and beautiful animation in a variety of styles.
Yep. First time I watch Reloaded back then, I was a little confused who that kid was, it didn't made much sense how he was introduced into the movie, kind of felt weird and rushed.
13:32 The Oracle never lied about Neo being or not being The One. Watch that scene carefully. Neo says “I’m not The One” and her reply is “sorry kid”. She never confirms nor denies. She just tells him what he needed to hear. He wasn’t ready to know that he was indeed The One.
So often I hear people complaining about how dumbed down mainstream entertainment is, but then you put something like this in a mainstream movie, and suddenly a whole new group of people start complaining about it not being dumbed down enough! Which is exactly why I think entertainment should NEVER be made in an attempt to please a particular group, and instead made from whatever passion the creator has, because there will ALWAYS be a group of people bitching about it no matter what you do, so you should at least do something true to yourself.
Same! Although I didn't get it at first (was like 13 or 14 when the movie came out), later when I came back to the movie when I got older and really thought that through I believed it wasn't that confusing at all - Quite simple in fact: the system needs incompleteness to work properly, something akin to Gödels theorem (and no I don't understand it beyond basic assumptions that can be explained simply, I'm not mathematician, way too dumb for that :P ) so "the One" is inevitable anomalny of the system, necessary for it to work correctly, essentially a programmed error needed for the remaining 99,999% of the system to be stable and work without errors. When the system gets unstable over time, "the One" needs to return to the source to restart it (basically good old, turn it off and on again) and Zion is wiped out but some people are left alive to also "restart" the Zion. Because machines don't want the Zion to succeed and free everybody, but still need them to exist because some people that will eventually free themselves (which is also inevitable if the system in general is to work) will rebel, so it's always better to have "controlled opposition" rather than unchecked one. + I think it is implied that the fundamental possibility of freedom, albeit an illusion, is necessary for the system to work, otherwise subjects were rejecting the Matrix en masse. So possibility of rebellion needs to be programmed into the system for it to work. And again, if it's necessary, then better to have control over opposition/rebellion rather than not to have it :P
@@SmartKidofTrains Yup, you summarized it pretty well. Basically, the human brain is not capable of perfection and therefore when our brains our forced into what machines called perfection, our brains rebelled (the first version of the matrix). So imperfection was implemented by the oracle which allowed people to unconsciously know that their brain is not free but willingly accept it because it's not that far off of the margin that our brain would automatically call it out therefore cascading into a system failure. P.S. I looked up that theorem and it's a moderately accurate depiction of what you said.
What the architect said isn't really complex. He's just verbose (he uses unnecessarily big uncommonly used words)...and he's vague...and he doesn't really answer some of the questions asked, because it would be a conflict of interest to answer the question.
The only thing is, like... everyone just kept driving normally. If I was behind that fight and saw all that happening in front of me (or behind me) I'd be getting off the freeway ASAP lol.
Since you have come to love Keanu reeves I would suggest his most underrated movie Constantine it also is one of Keanu “s favorite movies it is a real ride
@@StickFigureStudios The first John Wick was fine, the sequels just kind of got a bit ridiculous. The world became less interesting when everyone became an assassin and no one reacted to them.
"are they trying to get to the mainframe? the mothership? the motherboard?.... or right... the keymaster held prisoner by the mejijinay" Got me laughing for a good couple of minutes
A lot of people hate on the sequels but I enjoy them for what they are and appreciate what makes them different from typical blockbuster sagas. I saw Reloaded when I was 16 in theaters. The freeway sequence still slaps as hard as it did back then. Glad you enjoyed it! And you aren’t the only one confused. Haha. We all were. Edit: For a solid amount of time, Reloaded was the highest grossing R-Rated movie of all time until it was dethroned by Deadpool in 2016.
It’s a subtle thing but if you notice there’s a vampire movie playing on the tv in the background when the wife of the Frenchman(I forget names) steps outside her programming and kills the bodyguards and helps Neo escape.
@@bigdaddymosh1964 ya an old time vampire movie. I think they did that to help give out more hints that the Merovingian and the goons in the room were Vampires
Reloaded is fantastic. I’ll die on the hill defending this movie. Loved your reaction- nothing wrong with being confused a bit at the end. We all were to varying degrees. Glad you loved the freeway scene as much as you did. I honestly don’t think I can name a better action scene/sequence.
Yeah, this was a solid sequel. Less said about the 3rd one the better, but this film is great. The only thing I didn't really like was the fight with all the Smiths, bit silly - but other than that all good.
nothing to be ashamed off, contrary to what some believes, the MAtrix is an ensemble, there was too much to tell with only one movie The difference is that with the 1st movie the Wachovskis gave it an Ending( even to it was an open ending), cause they din't know if the movie would be succesfull enough, for the studio to greenlit a sequel. So the 1st movie, indeed feels more self sufficient, but what they wanted to tell as a story was more than what they showed in the 1st movie. The trilogie and Animatrix are a package, and the story cannot be completed with them 4 (and i'm not talking about ressurections, cause this one was not needed and was 18years too late to really matter)
I personally think that the first Matrix is a perfect standalone movie and the sequels are significantly weaker, but there's still plenty of good stuff to be taken from them
You nailed it with one phrase, you were entertained. That is what a movie is supposed to do and watching you makes it even more entertaining. Love your reactions so thank you for making us smile.
@@knightowl1985 It doesn't exist. They even say in the second one "To be concluded..." ergo, the third is the final one. Resurrections is one of those weird spinoffs that no one asked for or cares about. Just like every Terminator after Terminator 2.
Don't worry Cassie. Few of us understand what the Architect was saying. It takes about 5 watches to break down what he's saying. But you got the general gist of it.
I needed to watch the movie about 10 times before I finished understanding the architect. To top it off, there are so many sudden revelations and he talks so fast that it's impossible to follow and process everything the first time.
Defo one of the best cinema experiences I've ever had. One thing that is fab is the Merovingian's house is adorned with sculptures and paintings, and they all have his face.
This is so weird. I was literally watching your Matrix reaction yesterday thinking to myself "I wonder if she'll ever get around to the rest of them" and then this video pops up this morning. 😂
Ok Cassie. You did SO well to get most of it. To clarify; 1) The Matrix is a system of control, using a synthesized World. It belongs on the mainframe. The machines built the mainframe, and therefore control the Matrix. 2) The Architect is the Program that built the Matrix. It's human appearance is just a form that allows humans to converse and understand it. 3) The Merovingian (the French guy) is a rogue program that exists in the system, just like the Sentient Agents do. Persephone was also a program. Just like humans, these sentient rogue programs have embodied emotions. That's how they can be married. Just think of them as 'synthetic beings' living in the human Matrix. As the Oracle explained to Neo, rogue programs, when facing deletion, either return to the source, or hideout as Exiles in dark and hidden areas of the Matrix not accessible to 'plugged in' humans - usually through programmer back doorways, which is why the Merovingian had kidnapped, and needed, the keymaker. The keymaker is a very old and very powerful program, that had access to all of the programmer back doorways. The machines had written the code for the key maker wayback during the construction of the first Matrix, and had escaped the source. Sometime during the construction of the fourth version of The Matrix, the Merovingian had kidnapped and held onto him for his own nefarious purposes. The restaurant that the exiled Merovingian and his program wife Persephone, and The Twins were hanging out in, was an 'off world' level, rigged with explosives, in order to protect himself from Agents, and therefore, deletion. It is worth noting, that the Twins, who are exiled rogue programs, came from a much older version of The Matrix, and as such, were written in code that is no longer in use, hence why they are able to perform in the way that they do. People that were eating in the restaurant, were of course rogue programs also, hiding out away from harm. As the Merovingian explained, one of the programs eating at the table was a girl, which he'd obviously had infatuations for, for a very long time, hence the way that he looked at, and described - and why he mentioned the cake, with hidden code inside it, that he had written, in order to produce a digital orgasm. It both amused him, and facilitated a reaction which would allow him to engage, and take advantage of. We can infer how long this had been going on for, with Persephone's own words, saying she was tired of his actions, calling him a pompous prick. This is why she set him up, and betrayed him. You asked the obvious question - surely, with his power, he would know that she must know of his affairs - and you would be right. He didn't reckon on her betraying him, knowing that it would put her in danger of disscovery and deletion. She, of course, realised this, which is why she asked Neo for a kiss, as a reminder of what it felt like to be loved, in case it was her last. 4) Smith hates being an agent. And so, he turned rogue. He is a virus. And he is spreading. 5) Sentinels are the squids - search and destroy bots in the tunnels of the real World. I hope this is all making sense to you. There is a lot to unpack Cassie. Glad you enjoyed it though! See you on the next adventure xxx
Cassie, I’m surprised I couldn’t find Matrix 3 on your channel. I think it’s definitely worth finishing the series. Did it get taken down? Would have liked to finish it with you.
There really wasn’t that much complicated choreography, though. In fact, that was the main complaint from the first movie to the second: they replaced all of the wonderfully choreographed fight scenes in the first movie with over-the-top CGI. Very few of the fight scenes in this movie involve actual choreography from any of the actors. It’s all just computer generated.
@@gracehiggins2666 my man, you have the fight against the vampires which was all traditional stuntman work which you dont see nearly as much anymore, the fight on the truck was also largely physical, barring the wire fu stuff. the head agent in this who replaces smith was specifically hired for his background in martial arts in order to pull off the choreo. i think the only disappointing fight really is the final fight inside the white portal room with the smiths where hugo weaving may have been beginning to show his age.
There are quite a few missing links in the trilogy that are filled in by a number of animated shorts called the Animatrix. Worth a watch if you are interested.
Also the “Enter the Matrix” PS2 game. Has story and actual movie scenes for the 2nd and 3rd movie. The mini movie in that game should be required viewing for matrix fans.
Glad you liked it. Never apologize for liking what you like .Never. It's all subjective. Hope you watch and enjoy the next one. Thank you for the video.
I’m so happy you’re finally continuing these! For many reasons the first one is my favorite, but for many reasons the third one is too so I hope you enjoy that one. I know it can be hard to digest but it’s important to remember that the “good guys” aren’t perfect and the “bad guys” aren’t purely evil either.
Love the reactions and the automated captions. Merovingian: Get the keymaker. Captions: get zucchini makeup. Reloaded pretty crudely summed up: Mr. Smith (basically the "security dog" of The Matrix), was destroyed by Neo, but he managed to come back, this time free from his programming (without a leash so to speak). He felt something in Neo: it was choice, free will, good decisions. He/it (because he is still a program) totally misinterpreted it as purpose/destruction so he learns to copy himself and goes after Neo again, he even learns to copy himself into a human in the real world through the phones. The Oracle reveals she's a program of the system too - not just any program, she's basically the Mother of The Matrix, overseeing it, guiding The One and the rebels over and over again. Neo rescues the keymaker to get to The Source. There he meets the creator of The Matrix, the Father/God program so to speak, called The Architect. He has tried many different versions of The Matrix (at least five before this one), but they all failed - and in every single version he would randomly create a little line of code that made a person into "The One". They thought they were some superhero rebel, when in fact it was all a ruse to lead them back to The Architect. He always gave them a choice: two doors. Go through one to save the rebels in the real world (a few hundred or thousand people) but I destroy (reload/reboot) The Matrix and everyone in it and we start the whole thing over again. Or go through the other door to try to save EVERYONE, but then we attack the humans with our robots and kill EVERYONE. Nobody survives, not a single human being. All of The Ones obviously chose to save the rebel humans. But this time Neo does something different: he chooses Trinity and The Matrix. He goes back to save her despite knowing that the machines will attack Zion, the last human city, and every single human being could die. Neo begins to discover he has power in the real world as well. He goes into a coma and next to him is Smith in a human body. To be continued in the third one.
I would love Cassie to watch the 3rd one (and 4th one if she wishes). The problem is that she saw the 2nd movie so long ago and it might be hard to jump in again without re-watching the previous ones :(. At any rate, if you ever read this, Cassie, your reactions are priceless whatever you watch and you are a ray of sunshine :)
The speech of Morpheus was the best part of this movie. When i watched this for the first time and he yelled: "WE ARE STILL HERE" i cheered just as hard. Fishburne's most legendary role ever. And it was nice they kept characters like Morpheus or Trinity still very relevant. Most of the time they tend to fall to the background. But that feeling i never got in all 3 movies.
Fun Fact, the Oracle talks about ghosts and vampires because all of the Merovingians men were Vampires from older version of the matrix apart form the 2 twins who were ghosts, also from older versions of the matrix.
Imagine if Smith wasn't in the movie and the whole thing was just about Neo and Trinity's relationship culminating in their marriage on top of a mountain?
My fav Keanu movie is definitely "Speed." Keanu Reeves & Sandra Bullock's chemistry is insane! She definitely had a crush on him and once crashed his interview where she practically smothered him with xoxo. It was so cute. They also did another movie called, "The Lake House," which is a pretty good romance/fantasy.
Choreography for the freeway scene... R.A. Legendary. What an amazing stretch of action. Whole film was wonderful with only a few minor exceptions. 💪😎🤟
In retrospect, I think “Matrix: Reloaded” was a high watermark in Hollywood action filmmaking. The action scenes are elegant, almost as if they are dance or musical numbers. You can see all the thought and preparation that went into them. Most action scenes today feel so generic by comparison. “Matrix: Reloaded” also came out the year before “Bourne Supremacy” launched the shakycam era in action movies. Now, I love the “Bourne” movies, and I have nothing against shakycam, but I do think shakycam became a crutch in Hollywood. It became a way to make action scenes look intense without doing the hard work of executing truly creative fight choreography.
Agreed. I wish they would come out with a updated Matrix Reloaded. Like the CG when he fights smith and is flying is pretty bad hahaha The highway chase scene and Medieval weapons room fight are so awesome.
The opening scene of the first movie was millions of dollars. Then they went back to the people funding the movie and said we need more money, but they still had financial limits. When they were ready to make the sequels, they were given blank checks because the people funding the movie already knew it would make a profit so they were willing to pay to make it better.
Yeah I'd probably agree. At the time the generl attitude seemed like film production was getting better and more lavish, so it seemed like not that much was made of production values in general in the early 2000s. As I recall most reviews fcused on confusing aspects of the plot, but when you compare to a lot of modern fight scenes that rely a lot on CGI, quick cuts and shakey-cam, these really are built on the back of wonderfully elaborate and beautiful choreography like classic Hong Kong fight scenes that inspired them (and probably had a couple of the same guys working on them). They probably suffered from the explosion of CGI blockbusters at the time, where moviegoers got a bit used to seeing stuff they'd never seen before every time they went to the theatre between these films, LOTR, Star Wars, Spiderman and Harry Potter.
I still feel this is a step away from the best action movies and firmly into the CGI-enhanced era that has now led to movies that look like completely artificial garbage like Shang-Chi. This is much more of a special effects movie than an action movie. And the action here has nothing on the Indiana Jones series, Die Hard 2, T2, Speed, True Lies, etc. It's difficult to find that kind of pure action now, but the recent Mission Impossible movies are still doing a good job of it. The Matrix series remains the poster child for basing its action primarily on special effects, which makes everything seem almost more comical than tense. And that's why Resurrections was smart to lean into the comedy angle more. The Matrix series is so pretentious and preposterous that it's just begging to be poked fun at.
@@jedijones I disagree. Most of the action is based on real stunts and choreography in Reloaded. The fact is that Keanu Reeves had to learn more moves in a single scene in Reloaded than the entire first film. If the CGI was a little more advanced it would have made it much better. The main CGI problem is the Clone Smith fight and the occasions when Neo flies. Apart from that the CGI was mostly fine...I hope one day some expert will polish it up and remedy the 3Dness of some of the moments.
That scene where that dude with the shades told Neo “First, I must apologize “ so humbly and sincerely before he started attacking him was great!! Was I the only one that thought that was hilarious? And then Neo, after the fight was like “You could’ve just asked.”😂 The cherry on top was when that dude told him that you don’t really know someone until you fight them. It’s like, hey, I wanna know you better, why don’t we step outside and fight? Lol.
Cassie's reaction to the rave scene is the same reaction I had 20 years ago in the theater. I remember just looking around at everyone in the audience and thinking "is anyone else seeing this shit?"
Same. My Ex Mother-in-Law was really into the Matrix but my wife was not. So I went with "mom" to the premier. It was awkward watching this scene with her there.
I love that scene, because it's really cool way to show will to live and fight for live and love of whole humanity which were represented by citizen of Zion. Very sweaty and emotional scene as complete opposite to cold, structured and logic world of machines - and that's were whole point
This movie got a lot of hate back when it came out, but it’s definitely better in hindsight. The action scenes are still some of the best ever made. Also I’ve seen a lot of Cassies videos by now and she is obviously just a fantastic person and a joy, but I want to give some extra love to whoever edits these videos. It it really well done and professional and honestly better than a lot of other reaction channels. You don’t think about it that mich when watching, but it really means a lot 😄
I personally never gave the sequels any hate when they came out. The Matrix sequels suffer from the thing what 99% of the sequels suffer from which is being compared to the original. The main issue you can say the trilogy has is the fact that the journey of Neo becoming ''The One'' progressed to much in the first film which resulted in the second and third being filled up with more action.
@@CarlosHuiskens I always liked the whole trilogy, but I remember most of the people I knew back then who didn't like them said it was because they got too weird and complicated. Some people just like movies to be dumb fun, and I can understand that, but personally, I also enjoy movies that have depth to them and require a couple of viewings to notice all the little details and easter eggs that are in the movie. This trilogy was chock full of those.
That one battle with all the smiths always ruins my emersion, and it really looks like they either ran out of money or ran out of time. This was only reinforced by a friends opinion, which was that he didn't care because it's a computer generated world anyway; this same friend claimed that the green screen filming ruined the star wars sequel fight sequences (which are way better than this, even Yoda vs Dooku). Anyway his unfair bias set me even further against the scene in this movie, out of annoyance at his double standard, but that also isn't fair. Most of the fights are epic and the architect conversation is great.
@@Tantalus010 sadly these sequels are exactly those dumb action movies you described. They have bits of good ideas here and there, but overall these are a step down from the first movie.
This is easily my favorite matrix film. The first was groundbreaking, but it's only mind-blowing the first time. I enjoy the 2nd and 3rd far more on repeat viewings. Glad you enjoyed it!
Love you trying to make sense of it all at the end there. And yes, we've all been there same as you. Hoping for many more such moment in generations to come ^^
If you like the fighting style, you should check out Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. It's an a amazing film. Woo-Ping Yuen is the man who pioneered that style of fighting choreography and Crouching Tiger is one of his best bodies of work. The fights scenes are ethereal, and almost other worldly. Plus it has a great love story.
I already love all 4 movies, but watching this made me realize just how awesome they are. Just like the newest one, 2 and 3 were hated too. For decades. It wasn't until recently they have been appreciated. I love them right away but it takes most ppl years to get it. They get better with time. They age like fine wine.
For me Matrix will ever be a trilogy! I love them but the 4th movie is shit. The last movie started with nice ideas and there was so much potential for a nice mindf..king movie, but the second half of the movie was just crap with no sense anymore... You can see that Wachowski didn't believe in the last one and just made it because Warner Bros gave pressure to make a 4th one...
Oh as someone who has always strongly disliked the obvious fakeness in those scenes I LOVE that explanation! Like it had to bump down the textures to Low for awhile :D
Animatrix and Enter the Matrix were media linking everything together for the movie. Plus the highway was built specifically for the film so they could be go back and forth. It was distoyed after the movie unfortunately. Finally think of Smith being a Trojan or bug virus that can imprint on other programs to grow and Neo was a variable in the mathematical equation that need to be installed or the uneven equation would crash.
Whenever I need a fix of action, I will put on the middle third of this movie to itch that itch. From the moment Neo stops the hail of gunfire, strap in for one of the most amazing, action packed pieces of art ever commited to film. I don't even want to think about how dangerous some of the freeway scenes must have been to shoot. Pure adrenaline perfection.
i remember, living in Cleveland (OH) when the papers were mentioning the idea of Akron (OH) in discussions w/the Wachowski's using their highway for those scenes, but it was diverged.. fun, unexpected sequel.. i particular loved both the "French language" delivery as well as the Architect explaining so quickly the "reality" of it all - while in the theater.. no way to hit rewind, pause, etc.. it was just a "say what?!" moment, but great during the premiere night! thank you for your reaction!
4:48 I'm sure they did have a lot of fun! The fight choreography for these movies was done by Yuen Woo-Ping, who is a martial arts choreographer and director with a lot of films to his name, including Drunken Master, Lethal Weapon 4, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Kill Bill vols. 1 and 2, and Fearless.
“I hope we don’t run into Agent Smith anymore” cut to that one laughing clip from the third one
For real my exact thought when she said that 🤣 I had a good chuckle
Came here to say that.
This is a great explanation! Most I didn't put together, having seen the movies a few times over.
The Nightmare Matrix is a fan theory. A theory which, from my understanding, conflicts with the Oracle's explanation of the exiles.
Is there concrete evidence that the cookies the Oracle gives to Neo (and candy) are 'patches' that influence him in any way?
“OMG. He’s fighting the clone wars.” That prequel knowledge coming full circle. :)
Yeah, my first time hearing the Architect's speech, I was like WHAT.

@Jens Persson Not John Woo (who's more of a straight gunfight action director). The Matrix martial arts fighting was mostly choreographed by Yuen Woo-Ping, famous for his seminal work with Jackie Chan, Jet Li, and Donnie Yen.
Possibly the greatest car chase sequence in movie history, plus the ghosts are so cool, wish they had survived longer!
Even if you hate the sequels you have to respect that entire sequence.
Popcorn: "Easy with the pitchfork, mister!"
Wat from A Knight's Tale: "It's called a trident... hello!"
"she lied to him once" - the Oracle never lied to Neo, in the first film she told him "you have the gift but its like your waiting for something, your next life maybe", then once Agent Smith killed him and Trinity brought him back to life he was finally able to see the matrix in code, signifying he had just became "the one"
He used his Extra life after the game over screen.
But she also used a more basic Socratic trick, as follows:
If you listen closely, you'll notice that, when Neo asks if he's the One, she never answers.
We would have understood them if he didn't speak like a scientist of the English language :p
My favorite part is when he admits he's gaslighting Neo and then does it again with the very next thing he says. Admitting it was just to give Neo a false sense of one-upping him (which also doesn't work, because Neo still sees through his BS.)
omg, I've never even thought of the irony and double meaning of that before reading this.

You may want to consider watching it if you want to learn more about the history of the conflict between humans and machines, as well as enjoy some really fantastic stories and beautiful animation in a variety of styles.
Note it's also got some explicit and some gory scenes as well.
Seconding. More Matrix fans should give it a watch, it's quite brilliant.

The Architect scene has been analyzed to death… even down to what pen he’s holding (Lamy Swift rollerball with Palladium finish 😁
The architect scene is without a doubt my favorite scene in these movies. Some consider it boring, but i found it absolutely fascinating.
You're probably more intelligent than most people.
There's literally a whole documentary on how they managed to film the freeway scene.

nothing to be ashamed off, contrary to what some believes, the MAtrix is an ensemble, there was too much to tell with only one movie
The difference is that with the 1st movie the Wachovskis gave it an Ending( even to it was an open ending), cause they din't know if the movie would be succesfull enough, for the studio to greenlit a sequel.
So the 1st movie, indeed feels more self sufficient, but what they wanted to tell as a story was more than what they showed in the 1st movie.

Ah Cassie! your expressions when Neo and Trinity are spending their ‘time’ together, are PRICELESS!!!
Ok Cassie. You did SO well to get most of it. To clarify;
1) The Matrix is a system of control, using a synthesized World.

Oh so she didnt watch the 3rd. Thats sad. I was looking for it and didnt find it. i was wondering if it may be some "extra" content.
They specifically built a Highway Set for the Freeway Scenes.. You can find that on the DVD Extras. It's pretty amazing...
Neo and Trinity are the greatest lovers in movie history, bar none.🖤🖤
Congratulations for your Channel. You're Very Sweet and genuine in your reactions. Keep It going!
One and a half year since this reaction and no Matrix Revolutions reaction yet
guess she didn't really like it. 1st is my favorite but I definitely love the second and third as well. The 4th doesn't exist lol
I'm loving the sign! My favorite reaction channel. Hands down!
A bit cliche but it was a good speech. Have you seen Nostalgia Critic’s review: Tonight we dine on our Independence Day!
I have noticed that it has been 2 years since you watched this movie, WHEN are you going to watch and see how it concludes?
Now Speed is a movie I hope she reacts to
Speed and point break, yes please!
Yup Speed is great. Just don't bother with the sequel
@@shredd5705 We don't speak of that
Wasn’t the crush mutual?
Like the CG when he fights smith and is flying is pretty bad hahaha
The highway chase scene and Medieval weapons room fight are so awesome.

That's the best reaction to end credit music of 2002(?). 😆
Did Cassie watch the third movie "Revelations"? I couldn't find the video on the channel.
Lol.
That would be Seraph ;)
@@PatTheOne That’s right!! I can’t believe I forgot his name.
@@brianhatcher2799 happens to us all lol
Cassie's reaction to the rave scene is the same reaction I had 20 years ago in the theater. I remember just looking around at everyone in the audience and thinking "is anyone else seeing this shit?"
Same. My Ex Mother-in-Law was really into the Matrix but my wife was not. So I went with "mom" to the premier. It was awkward watching this scene with her there.
absolutely unnecessary whatsoever

I never understood that he was in the ladies room with that girl who got the orgasm cake, even when rewatching as an adult. You opened my eyes.
I love that scene, because it's really cool way to show will to live and fight for live and love of whole humanity which were represented by citizen of Zion. Very sweaty and emotional scene as complete opposite to cold, structured and logic world of machines - and that's were whole point
I love how invested you get. It’s awesome.
Also, I love how you get all the names wrong 😂😂
They have bits of good ideas here and there, but overall these are a step down from the first movie.
i love these sequels, they tell the story the best. Not Resurrections thoug.
I love how an unarmored Cadillac stopped all of those bullets, including a .50 Action Express that would've hit Trinity in the lower chest lol.
I suggested that awhile back myself, it's the kind of movie she'd be sucked into.
“ I’m so glad Trinity didn’t die “ 😆
I already love all 4 movies, but watching this made me realize just how awesome they are. Just like the newest one, 2 and 3 were hated too. For decades. It wasn't until recently they have been appreciated. I love them right away but it takes most ppl years to get it. They get better with time. They age like fine wine.
For me Matrix will ever be a trilogy! I love them but the 4th movie is shit. The last movie started with nice ideas and there was so much potential for a nice mindf..king movie, but the second half of the movie was just crap with no sense anymore... You can see that Wachowski didn't believe in the last one and just made it because Warner Bros gave pressure to make a 4th one...
lol Key Maker, not Key Master, I also wondered when he was going to find the Gatekeeper asked release Gozer the Gozarien. 😂
I love the explanation for the bad cgi in the Neo vs smith army fight is that there’s so much action going on that matrix is getting laggy 😂😂
It makes sense, you have The One and a bunch of corrupted (freed) Agent Smiths in one place fighting it out, how could the Matrix not lag?
Oh as someone who has always strongly disliked the obvious fakeness in those scenes I LOVE that explanation! Like it had to bump down the textures to Low for awhile :D
"He's being held prisoner by The Mazhuzhunay." You could NOT be more adorable!
They gave the bricks or rubble to build homeless shelters or something
@@-M0LE Oh really did not know that. That's good to know. You learn something every day.👍
I thought they used an abandoned runway out at Alameda
@@oxide9679 the same location that was used by Mythbusters
@@chrism7395 Yup
Whenever I need a fix of action, I will put on the middle third of this movie to itch that itch. From the moment Neo stops the hail of gunfire, strap in for one of the most amazing, action packed pieces of art ever commited to film. I don't even want to think about how dangerous some of the freeway scenes must have been to shoot. Pure adrenaline perfection.
Matrix 💯
Matrix Reloaded 60
Matrix Revolutions 25
i remember, living in Cleveland (OH) when the papers were mentioning the idea of Akron (OH) in discussions w/the Wachowski's using their highway for those scenes, but it was diverged.. fun, unexpected sequel.. i particular loved both the "French language" delivery as well as the Architect explaining so quickly the "reality" of it all - while in the theater.. no way to hit rewind, pause, etc.. it was just a "say what?!" moment, but great during the premiere night! thank you for your reaction!
Out of curiosity, is there a reaction to the third film? I don't see it in the RUclips. Is it a Patreon exclusive?
I am curious if you ever got a chance to see the other ones
These sequels are fantastic, and I'm so happy you're watching them ❤
Yeah! I never understood why they'd get so much hate!
