You guys should react to RED and RED 2. Its a great series featuring an older Bruce Willis as a more or less retired black ops government agent who gets back together with his old team of older agents to solve a conspiracy where he is the scapegoat. RED is the acronym for "Retired, Extremely Dangerous". It is a action/adventure/romance/comedy that is worth watching to honor Bruce Willis as one of his last great series.
I was really surprised by absolutely how much I loved RED. I mean really loved it. My husband and I have watched it so many times we can quote it. We were on vacation in Hawaii and there was a pig that turns into an airplane pillow. My husband bought it for me and told me "I'm getting the pig!!" No more information than that. Hopefully they will watch it.

I was part of the design team on this movie. I had so much fun coming up with action scenes and visually concepting them. One of the most exciting gigs I've had in my 20 year career. Glad you enjoyed the movie, girls.
@@jeffjenkins2525 Thank you! I did an illustration of a truck playing chicken with a fighter jet, and the Director went nuts. He loved it. All the sets were built at Universal Studios, so our offices were there. I would bring in toy cars and come up with ideas on how to pull off big questions like, how does McClane take out a helicopter if he didn't have a weapon. Live Free and Total Recall were among my favorite movies to work on with Len wiseman. He's a super talented creative director.
@@SPEEDPAINTER1 that’s really cool, I’m actually trying to get into acting like my father did in the 80s/90s and I’d love to do action films… total recall remake with Colin Ferrell??? I loved that film, you’ve done some great action scenes!
YOU DID AN AMAZING JOB. Really, why this movie gets crapped on is beyond comprehension. I have family in SFX studio Hollywood, he worked on Robcop 2/3, FreeJack, Bugsy, and Johnny Mneomic! LOL "now those were crap" he says...but he was the puppeteer for Ninja Robot in RC3.
The warlock is played by director Kevin Smith (clerks, mallrats, dogma). He was brought in and revised the movie script after they had trouble with the original. Bruce is very protective of the Die Hard franchise and so he was frustrated with how the movie was going. Kevin came in and made some serious changes. This is how Kevin and Bruce became friends and ended up working together later on. Kevin talk about it in his Evening with Kevin Smith series (there are at least 3).
@@willdallas53 At the beginning, at the time of "Live Free or Die Hard", and shortly after, everything was fine between them. The breakup happened 3 years later during the chaotic production of "Cop Out", where Bruce Willis really seemed to act like a total a...hole.
@@willdallas53Funny many say that about worthless Kevin Smith. I can't stand either actor & this was the last Die hard I watched & while I did love both Red films there were just as stupid. "I'm getting the pig" & "can I shoot her now?" best lines of the movie. The movies to see are the Boondock saints.....
@@MikeWilsonBarrettIt really didn’t affect it by much seems like. I think this one relied more on the action and the camerawork than the blood. Also, it’s got way more explosions to worry about than the blood 😂. It’s a pretty in your face movie without the gore, I don’t think it has to worry about the R-rating.
This movie gets a lot of criticism, but I genuinely enjoy it. It reminds me of the the first transformers in a "pretty dumb but with a lot of heart" kinda way. It's... Fun. Stupid, stupid fun
This was the first Die Hard movie, I saw in theatres and it blew me away. The comedy is so good in this one. The chemistry between Justin and Bruce is fantastic and Timothy was a great villain. Thanks for sharing your reaction with us.
Other than Die Hard one and the one with Samuel Jackson this is a favorite. The chemistry between Willis and Long is great. Next you need to check out Willis in RED and RED2. Great reaction to a great flick. Thanks.
@@athos1974 They pretty much hated each other. She thought he was a buffoon, and he thought she was a snob. So basically, their Moonlighting characters. 😄
I don't think he is a great actor, but good at what he does - a bit like John Wayne. Moonlighting was great in the early years but Bruce started wanting more and more money and making more demands, which is what I think was the cause of most of the problems. He became notorious for doing things like making everyone wait on set and just generally being an arse.
@dante340, Actually, for reactors who have become increasingly savvy about movies since the channel started, it's pretty inexplicable to say nothing of embarrassing. But, whatever.
@@mitchellmelkin4078We try to keep things positive here, ok chief? They’re doing their best, and they haven’t watched many, if any, Kevin Smith films for the channel. I was thinking the same thing 😜👍 Kev was thick in the internet space back then, his message boards were ahead of their time and his fan interaction was online was too. In many ways, Kevin Smith has always been ahead of the times.
@@wildmike85 , That's kind of the point. It appears they've never seen any View Askewniverse films which isn't necessarily surprising given the channel's 'wholesome' MO. I'm not sure there are too many other prominent reactors who would similarly (perhaps reflexively) give such movies a pass.
The french "avenger" is played by Cyril Raffaelli. He's an actor, martial artist, stuntman and a traceur. Also, he's a close friend of David Belle, the founder of Parkour.
The last good Die Hard😅 I enjoy 4 more than most, but it still comes in behind 3 and 1 for me. I wish Mary Winstead had more to do, but Timothy Olyphant is a wonderful villain for Bruce to antagonize.

I said the people telling you this movie wasn't worth watching were crazy. It's a solid movie and a very conceivable premise. You guys should also put "Red" and "The Expendables" series on your watch list. Very fun movies indeed. Enjoyed this reaction as always.
Yes, I'm always torn whether this movie or the first is my favorite. It has everything in this movie and the essential component, a great bad guy. The cross-generation team with Bruce Willis and Justin Long is a fabulous touch. They really nailed it with this one, so happy you both enjoyed it.

The 'super soldier' guy is Cyril Raffaelli. He's insanely talented. If you want to see more of him, there's three movies to watch. He was a villain who fought Jet Li in 'Kiss of the Dragon', and was a protagonist in 'District B13' and it's sequel 'District 13: Ultimatum'. The other protagonist in the District 13 films? David Belle, the founder of Parkour. Both films are in French, so be ready for subtitles.

If worried about phone communication when cell phones aren't working, by default all telephone lines into homes will let you call 911 without paid phone service, and the lines carry power. So if you have a landline jack in your home, purchase a basic phone ( uses phone jack only, not an AC plug ) and keep it around for emergencies.

Just as an interesting Christmas piece of trivia. I recently learned that the writer of the Christmas carol "Silent Night" was Franz Gruber. It can't be a coincidence that the writer of the original "Die Hard" named the lead bad guy Hanz Gruber. Quite the play on the Christmas theme and in my mind, this answers the argument for all time, is "Die Hard" a Christmas movie? My answer is a resounding yes!
I recently watched this film. The film is quite interesting, exciting and, of course, the acting is top notch (but not all the actors in this film). I like the second and third parts, I like the plot more in these two films, Die Hard 4 essentially became, ,the extreme ones are also quite successful, because the 5th part did not impress at all ( In Die Hard 4 I could highlight the following characters: Thomas Gabriel; May; Matthew; John McClane; Bowman. I didn’t like only two characters in this film - Lucy McClane and Emerson ( Many people talk about Lucy McClane, but what did the daughter give to this film? There was little of her, in the beginning, where she kissed a guy and then quarreled with her father, showing her, ,strong character, a little in the middle, where she sat as a hostage and watched the actions of the terrorists. Then she told her father the number of terrorists and at the end in the final battle, where she screamed along with the pumped-up Emerson. After her blow to the back of the head in the face of Thomas Gabriel's henchman, she managed to get her tied hands into Emerson's holster with a gun, after which she confidently shot him in the foot of his booted leg, then he dropped his MP7 machine gun on the floor screaming, grabbing her hands so that she would not kill him with his own gun, accepting this circumstance (she could have finally killed him), she turned back while Emerson screamed in pain for several minutes and kicked the machine gun that fell on the floor to her father. This action provided her with a guarantee of good health, and Thomas Gabriel at the last second stopped Emerson's machine gun, which was rolling across the floor towards John McClane. A few minutes later, Emerson barely regained control of Lucy McClane. She felt a guarantee of good health from this desperate and purposeful action. And what about Emerson? Left with his torn and empty holster, which was in the smoldering smoke after meeting Lucy McClain. After all this, she ran to her father and cried for her disgusting attitude towards him at the very beginning of the film. 1:59:14 - 1:59:33 in the film confirms all this. She was little in this film, she was not remembered for anything ( Emerson is the weakest villain in this film, who with his incompetence set up Thomas Gabriel and all his plans. In fact, she killed him) This is the impression I got from watching this masterpiece))
This is a super underrated movie in the franchise. It's up there with 1 and 3 for me, and hands down has some of the best choreographed action set pieces in the whole franchise. The tunnel scene being a huge standout. It's a shame what came after this movie though. Such a huge step down in quality
Not just the tunnel scene but the way it ended. The car into the helicopter was done for real. That bad guy is a stuntman and really jumped from the helicopter as a car was thrown at it. That guy has balls of steel. One of my favourite action movie stunts. The behind the scenes of that stunt is crazy.

One of my favorite aspects of the Die Hard films is how the stakes increase every movie. In the 1st, John saves a building (and Christmas). In the 2nd, an entire airport (and Christmas). In the 3rd, the world economy. In this one, the entire country. In the next...
There is a 5th and it's bad enough that I don't even remember it aside from taking place in Russia with his son. It's more generic action movie than Die Hard. Better to leave it at 4.
Had no idea Mary Elizabeth Winstead was in this-I guess it was before I knew her as an actress... and forgot that Flyleaf was on the soundtrack. Nice. Justin's such a winsome, naturally hilarious guy. What a blast.
Justin Long was actually the one who asked the Producers that Flyleaf "I'm So Sick" be featured. The original song was going to be ""Everybody Wants To Rule The World" but Justin gave the idea of modern rock, since his character is a hacker and a young one at that. They got the OKAY from Flyleafs manager after they told them how the scene was going to play out.
This movie kind of has a special place in my heart. I was working my senior year in HS at a movie theater when this came out, got free tickets (perk for family if you work there!) and I told my mom and dad that tickets would be waiting at guest services. Still remember theater 10 and telling my co-workers that my parents were coming and I'd help clean even though I was in concessions :) Best memories

It's sad what has happened to Bruce. "Moonlighting" was wonderful. "The Fifth Element" was bloody creative and fantastic (Luc Besson's work always is). The original "Die Hard" films were great as well, and I definitely think that Timothy Oliphant, Justin Long, and the rest of the supporting cast in this one too. Kevin Smith plays The Warlock. You and Carly should honestly watch some of the movies he has directed. Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Clerks II, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot & Clerks III.
This film is called Live Free Or Die Hard in North America because Live Free Or Die is the motto of New Hampshire, one of the first independent states established after the American Revolution. Since the film occurs on Independence Day, it underscores that patriotic sentiment. As that title would have little resonance outside North America, it was titled Die Hard 4.0, to allude to a digital operating system, to underscore the subtext of analog age McClane being dragged reluctantly into the digital age.
People have been saying Bruce Willis was really phoning it in this movie, which he was, but I always felt that perfectly fit how John would have felt as well. In his 60s, still running around getting shot at. I'd be tired of it too.
"Hans Gibbler"? 🤣🤣 That may be your best one yet! One thing I loved about this is that it didn't make all the higher ups (other cops & FBI) total idiots to make the hero look better. Zelijko Ivanek is a very good actor originally from Slovenia who is part of the FBI's team in this Die Hard 4 movie. He's in a lot of great movies like Argo.
The band Justin's character is listening to is a Christian band called Flyleaf lead by Lacey Strum who's got an amazing testimony.... Well worth looking up on RUclips.
Your next Bruce Willis has to be The Last Boy Scout. It's basically Die Hard without actually being Die Hard. Timothy Olyphant in Perfect Getaway is a fun move also. You'd love it.
I think the second and third Die Hard films were finished scripts which were adapted as DH movies. That makes it easy to imagine Last Boy Scout, 16 Blocks and even, at a stretch, The Fifth Element as McLane movies..
A really fun series with Maggie Q who played the female bad guy here, is the remake TV series of Nikita. It also has Devon Sawa and Shane West from A Walk to Remember. Lots of action, romance, relationship dynamics. I hope you'll look into it. :)

This was the first Die Hard that they did a PG-13 Release in the theater to try to appeal to a wider audience and it did not work. The "Unrated" version of the film came out after it went into homes, which is "R", and the only version worth watching. This looks like the unrated version because the death scenes are awesome.
It's my second favorite Die Hard after the first one. Justin Long and Timothy Olyphant are both brilliant and overall the casting in this one is great.

There wasn’t much of her, at the beginning, where she had sex with a guy and had a fight with her father, showing her strong character, a little in the middle, where she was held hostage, told her father the number of terrorists, and at the end in the final battle, where she screamed along with the stupid jock Emerson, after hitting the henchman Thomas with the back of her head, penetrated with her tied hands into the holster with Emerson's pistol, after which she shot him in the foot and he dropped his machine gun on the floor, screaming, grabbing her hands so that she would not kill him with his own pistol, she turned around while Emerson was screaming and screaming 42:45 and kicked Emerson's machine gun at his father and Thomas stopped him at the last second, then after everything she ran up to her father and sobbed for her attitude towards him at the very beginning. There wasn't much of her in this film, unfortunately (((
Internationally in Britain 🇬🇧 it was a simple title "Die Hard 4.0" The action is ridiculously entertaining bordering on implausible but the buddy cop relationship with Justin Long is fantastic!! I really really enjoyed this film in the cinema/theater. The "You killed them with a helicopter??" & the "I ran out of bullets" envoked a huge amount of laughter at my screening!! 🤣🤣🤣
The other line that got a big laugh when I saw it on opening day was when John is fighting the guy in the cooling area for the servers and the bad guy falls into a giant fan, killing him. You hear people gasp in the theater and then right on cue hear "Ohh NO!" from John and everyone laughs. This movie is dumb and one I have to really turn my brain off for because I work in IT, but it's a lot of fun. Also controversial opinion maybe? I prefer the PG-13 cut over the unrated.
"...bordering on implausible..." Hah, what would it take to _cross_ the border, Maggie Q surviving being driven through _two_ walls ?? McLane beats F35 using dental floss ?? "Turns out it was aliens all along" ?? :) (genuinely glad you enjoyed the movie though)
Live Free or Die Hard was the first Die Hard film I ever saw in theaters and was my introduction to the franchise. I was unaware there was three films before this came out until after my Step Dad told me.
@@ct6852 I remember being thrown off by the swearing in the older films. Visually the first Die Hard and the music threw me off. Die Hard 3 I probably felt like it was the closets to Live Free or Die Hard. I like Die Hard, Die Hard 3 & Live Free or Die Hard equally. I love the sarcasm, smart duologue and action in those three films. I think Die Hard 2 is my least favorite film. Also I was not a fan of Die Hard 5 as much as I would have liked.
In a dvd i found oceans 13 , transformers , harry potter and the order of phoenix and live free or die hard , i dont even know they made a die hatd movie in 2007
It was the first one I saw in theaters too. I was aware of the previous 3 and seen them by then. I remember my parents seeing the 3rd for my dad's birthday, we were still too young to see it in theaters then, but saw it upon the video release.
Happy holidays, y'all. In the mid-late 2000s like Rocky, Rambo and Indiana Jones, nobody saw or even thought that John McClane would return to the big screen. Just like the other aging heroes we have, McClane proved the naysayers wrong and i loved it. The basis of the movie was an article "A Farewell to Arms" (1997) from Wired magazine by John Carlin on the infrastructure change of our country. Director Len Wiseman (the Underworld saga) turned in a pretty good sequel. Bruce Willis as McClane just keeps the charm and grit going like we loved it since DH1. The supporting cast is good. The action, humor and suspense is great. "A Timex watch in an digital era" is a very good line by the villain. Timex is known to make watches that 'take a licking and keeps on ticking'. A character like McClane (at that time) close to 20 years since the first film and still being one of the great action icons we have, says a lot. LF or DH is the highest grossing film in the series. The 5th and final installment came out in 2013 (DH's 25th Anniversary). It's considered the worse of the films by the general consensus. Either you watch it or you don't. But I'm just a Bruce Willis fan and I loved all the DH movies.
In all seriousness, please stop from here Cassie and Carly. Because the next movie is not only a waste of time, but feels like a huge assassination to the franchise, and the only hope I have is that about 90% of everyone who was behind the movie was fired with dignity.
Not sure they’ll need to fire anyone with Bruce Willis’s health problems. There most likely will never be another Die Hard. Maybe 10/15 years they’ll try some trash reboot. Now at that point they probably won’t have anyone that worked on the 5th one.
@osmanyousif7849 In my opinion Die Hard was at its best in the 80s and 90s. The McClane from the newer movies is doing crazier things in his old age than he did in his younger years.
@@osmanyousif7849 so they never should’ve done a second one. Because you can’t do the same story over and over if you’re going to do sequels. He couldn’t keep fighting in skyscrapers.
This one has a special place in my heart because it’s the first Die Hard I saw. Plus I love Justin Long, and his character and John were fun to watch. Would’ve loved to see them on more adventures.

You’re probably in the minority on this being the favorite but that’s your opinion I respect. It is a bit eerie how it got a lot of things right in terms of cyberattacks and so forth.
I love that Kevin Smith is known for being in Catch and Release but not from anything else. He's a great writer and loves Canada. Watch Clerks if you get a chance!!
always enjoy your reactions especially when your sister shares her thoughts . Loved these series of Die Hard movies but feel so bad for Bruce Willis and his family , Bruce has been living with frontotemporal dementia and sadly cant talk and will never act again , he was and still is a legend .
The first two movie, McLean was doing it basically alone. These last two, he's had two VERY different partners to contend with 😂 Btw, the Warlock is Kevin Smith of Clerks/Mallrats/Chasing Amy/Silent Bob fame.
@@mitchellmelkin4078 Bruce taking a more sensitive role where he's protector and mentor to a misfit child. He wasn't really known for that earlier in his career.
My favorite Die Hard! But Rom Coms you would really love, Working Girl with Harrison Ford, Melanie Griffith and Sigourney Weaver...also A Walk in the Clouds with Keannu Reeves and Lake House with Keannu Reeves and Sanra Bullock
The "hamster" guy is one of the leads in a French movie called District B13 where he and another guy do some amazing stunts like this through the whole movie. It is a Luc Besson film (Fifth Element/ The Professional). He also had a small part in another Besson film called Kiss of the Dragon starring Jet Li.
I think a movie that would be great for you two to watch is a movie with Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz called Knight and Day. It is funny and falls into an action/comedy/romance movie. It isn't too serious and isn't quite as violent as many of the action movies like The Equalizer or John Wick. It seems like the kind of movie that would be perfect for you both to react to (if you haven't seen it), and I remember you both saying you wanted to watch more of Tom Cruise's movies. Love this reaction, btw and this is probably the most underrated of the Die Hard movies. The series really should have ended with this one in my opinion, but I'll watch anything with Bruce Willis, so if you continue with the next movie it may be wise to temper your expectations. Hope you both have a happy Christmas and holiday season.
Ran (super soldier) performs what is known as "par-kour", which is a free-running sport developed in France, where you use the environment to traverse to your destination as quickly and efficiently as possible. A GREAT movie that uses a ton of parkour is "District 13" (B-13), super-action packed, with parkour-based fighting performed by two parkour legends, watch the subtitle version. The thing with the US jet, is the GO code he used was verified, so the pilot thinks it is a direct command from his superior. In times of national crisis, the military rules. If they have to they will blow up freeways and such, innocent bystanders are part of the cost of war. Likewise, even if someone pleaded with the pilot over the radio they are trained to zone out all other requests until it is accompanied by that GO code.
I may be in the minority here, but this is my favorite Die Hard movie. Not sure if it’s the banter between Bruce and Justin Long or if it’s the fact that Kevin Smith is in the movie, it’s like an eighth of the Askewniverse 😄, but I’ve always really enjoyed this one.

I liked this movie from the first time I saw it at the theaters. Some of the action scenes are way more far fetched than the first 3, but the story, action, and the overall fun is what makes this movie just as good as the others. There is a fifth film, called "A Good Day to Die Hard". I hope you and Carly are back for that one as well! I love watching you both! You both are so much fun!
Both are great fun movies and Cassie would love them
*JACK REACHER* and JACK REACHER 2.

Yeah red 1 and 2 are great
I was really surprised by absolutely how much I loved RED. I mean really loved it. My husband and I have watched it so many times we can quote it.
We were on vacation in Hawaii and there was a pig that turns into an airplane pillow. My husband bought it for me and told me "I'm getting the pig!!" No more information than that. Hopefully they will watch it.
This is one of my favorite Die Hards. The cast is excellent. The actor playing the main villain is EXCELLENT.
That would be Timothy Olyphant of "Justified".

The fighter jet and car chase scenes are my favorite action sequences from the whole DH series, well done!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@jeffjenkins2525 Thank you! I did an illustration of a truck playing chicken with a fighter jet, and the Director went nuts. He loved it.

One of my favorite aspects of the Die Hard films is how the stakes increase every movie. In the 1st, John saves a building (and Christmas). In the 2nd, an entire airport (and Christmas). In the 3rd, the world economy. In this one, the entire country. In the next...
In the 4th he saves the world of the cybernetic terrorism
If they always raise the stakes then How is America higher then the entire world
In the fifth one he kind of helps and saves his son who's older in it
The last one he saves the entire planet from an asteroid impact... wait wrong movie 😂🤣

I cannot stop laughing at "She's spider monkeying up the car".

One thing I loved about this is that it didn't make all the higher ups (other cops & FBI) total idiots to make the hero look better. DH 1 & 2 were guilty of that to some extent, as well as many cop shows of the period. This gave me hope...well, until the next one .. urgghh

Remember when we first met John Mclane. Argyle picked him up from the plane. And took him down the Nacatomi Tower.
This was the first Die Hard that they did a PG-13 Release in the theater to try to appeal to a wider audience and it did not work. The "Unrated" version of the film came out after it went into homes, which is "R", and the only version worth watching. This looks like the unrated version because the death scenes are awesome.

Internationally in Britain 🇬🇧 it was a simple title "Die Hard 4.0"
The action is ridiculously entertaining bordering on implausible but the buddy cop relationship with Justin Long is fantastic!! I really really enjoyed this film in the cinema/theater.
The "You killed them with a helicopter??" & the "I ran out of bullets" envoked a huge amount of laughter at my screening!! 🤣🤣🤣
Not bordering on implausible, it crosses the border, takes a dump on the border and raids the nearest town.
@@Cheepchipsable AND I ENJOYED EVERY MINUTE.
The other line that got a big laugh when I saw it on opening day was when John is fighting the guy in the cooling area for the servers and the bad guy falls into a giant fan, killing him. @@ct6852 I remember being thrown off by the swearing in the older films. Visually the first Die Hard and the music threw me off. I love the sarcasm, smart duologue and action in those three films. I think Die Hard 2 is my least favorite film. Also I was not a fan of Die Hard 5 as much as I would have liked.
The first movie of die hard i notice was the fifth one of 2013
In a dvd i found oceans 13 , transformers , harry potter and the order of phoenix and live free or die hard , i dont even know they made a die hatd movie in 2007

@@justinpitcock5312, sometimes Hollywood needs to learn that if it’s not broke, don’t fix it. And Die Hard, especially the first, never needed fixing.

Likewise, even if someone pleaded with the pilot over the radio they are trained to zone out all other requests until it is accompanied by that GO code.
this movie is highly underrated tbh. yeah its super over the top but it's a LOT of fun.
thats Kevin Smith the director and made the movie Clerks and alot of others
I am SO. EXCITED. to see your reaction to this!
He will now forever be named Hans Gibbler! xD
I know a lot of people didn't care for Die Hard 4, but I liked it and thought it was a fun movie.
You really can’t go wrong with Timothy Olyphant and Justin Long.
Watch "Blind Date" instead. I'm 100% sure you both would really like that one.
I honestly love this movie. I'm so glad you're watching this one. Please continue 😎
Many people talk about Lucy McClain, but what did your daughter give to this film?
There wasn't much of her in this film, unfortunately (((
Oh I’m excited. I haven’t seen anyone react to this one and I love it!!! Yay. Let’s go! 😉
The Last Boy Scout is a great example of Bruce Willis being John McClain without actually being John McClain. Hope you give it a watch! 😊
i second that.....
or try Hudson Hawk

This is my favorite of the series and watching your reactions to it was even better. I have a great time watching you both watching movies
