I bought a new car last Sep, the Android Auto worked perfectly. I could use talk to text for text messages and talk to text for Facebook Messenger. I put my car away into storage in November, took it out in mid March...(at some point AA updated) now I no longer get messages, or notifications. It forces my phone into Do Not Disturb mode and will not hang up if I make a phone call using it. I had to disconnect Bluetooth. Hey Google or Ok Google no longer works. This is ridiculous. In my experience, CarPlay works much better. I just bought a Pixel 4 from using an iPhone 8, both on latest software. CarPlay is pretty amazing and the interface is super clean. One thing I love with Apple and CarPlay, my passenger can open maps, search, and setup navigation. With AA, they have to unplug the device or I have to use voice commands. Unless I'm missing something in the setup, is there a way my passenger can open Google Maps while using AA without unplugging my Pixel 4?

@@CarDietrich thanks for the quick response. Do I update the software on the phone or the car? I believe the software on my phone Is already at Android 10 from the factory.
Typically I would advise updating the software on the phone, since you got the car to work with another phone it seems like the car is probably functioning fine. Try a different cord, Android Auto can be weirdly sensitive. If that doesn't work uninstall and re-install the android auto app on the phone and see if that does anything

Hello nice video by the way my first time here. I am thinking about replacing my unit in my 2009 C300 Mercedes with one of these units that you guys are talking about but my question is I would like to use the Wireless feature instead of plugging my phone in all the time and keeping it plugged in if I'm understanding you guys I would have to buy a head unit with that feature? Also I've read on here most people that are using the wireless connection say it's not good what is your thought on that?
If you're looking at adding Android Auto to your 2009 Mercedes it will depend on which aftermarket unit you choose. Some will have wireless connection, some won't. I have not actually used wireless Android Auto, but I will tell you from experience that Android Auto can be sensitive enough about things, a wireless connection might add one more level of complexity to cause issues and that might be why some people don't like it.
Whenever i try to connect note 9 plus or samsung s8 in honda accord 2019 it doesn’t connect with android auto. Only bluetooth music works, please guide me why this is causing problem!
I am assuming you already have the Android Auto app downloaded onto the phones, because it won't work without that. Other than that it looks like there is some Honda specific way to disable Android Auto on the car, and you have to re-activate it. Check this out it might help: owners.honda.com/vehicles/information/2019/Accord-Sedan/features/Android-Auto-Integration/2/reactivate-android-auto
I had the same problem with my pioneer NEX 8201. It keep saying USB incompatible . I went to Walmart and bought a Belkin Brand USB C cable . The app does say to use a quality USB cable . It is now working good .
My biggest problems with android auto. 1) when I reply to a text now in between it saying what do you want to say and sending and so on I get a half sec of whatever I was listening to on my radio. 2) when I connect my phone by the cord it will automatically start up the last time I was listening to on my phone while it was hooked up to the truck whether it was my music, spotify, iheart or whatever.
Did these problems just start happening for you? Apparently they are rolling out an update right now to fix some stuff on Android auto, but who knows that update might cause new problems
Thanks great video. I have a question. Can I play all the music on my phone using the 'Samsung Music' feature that came with my phone? Will that show on the screen or do i have to use some different app?
I need help... I have a Hyundai 2016 Santa Fe Ultimate and I am unable to get android Auto on the factory head unit. I am aware there is the wireless that is supposed to come out next week....would this help although your cell phone has to have the latest android OS which is 9 and my new cell phone has 8.1...HELP
Based on what I can tell Android Auto was not available on the Santa Fe until 2017, which means it probably won't work at all with your 2016 model unless you swap the head unit. There are several aftermarket options for you, but If they are going to mess with the climate control, maybe not the best choice. What is the easy way to turn satnav off. I dont want it using data all the time. Even when I end route it keeps draining data. Does not seem to have a way to close totally down like a phone.
Try hitting the square on the bottom right of your Android phone and swiping up on the maps apps when they are not in use, that should stop it from using data because the app will be closed out.
In my experience, you do not need to allow the head unit access to your contacts or messages. That's to allow the stereo to be used in the old dumb way they used to work where Subaru would manage your voice commands etc. With Android Auto, you only need to accept permissions once IN the Android Auto app. All the permissions are between your phone and Android Auto. The car is just mirroring the interface.
I've hooked a lot of Android phones to a lot of Android Autos for customers and this is the most consistent way to get it to function. Android Auto is finicky and it'll go on strike for weird reasons.
@@CarDietrich I agree. Permissions can be critical to AA working properly, but all the ones I've installed didn't require the initial contacts and text message permissions outside of AA. I haven't done an AA wireless install though. Perhaps it's different for that than the wired ones
I haven't done a wireless one either, I just hook customers phones up to their Android Auto in the cars they bought from me. The experience varies wildly from phone to phone, sometimes seemingly at random.
Never have used AA before, does using things like google/maps eat up much data if you keep it connected through your phone? If it does, there does not seem much reason to install the app.
Some cars are starting to go with wireless Android Auto, but most still need cables. You just need a USB cable that is compatible with your phone and will handle data transfer and is in good condition. Old frayed cables don't work well.
Unfortunately Toyota has refused Android Auto until now and most new Toyota's still don't have Android Auto. Also, Toyota has no plans to upgrade older models
Yeah they were pushing their Scout GPS as an alternative but it wasn't what the people wanted. Hopefully they'll get with the program over the next couple of model years.
@@stephenpowstinger733 I meant cars with Entunes 2.0 won't get Android Auto as the system is not compatible such as the 2017-2019 Corolla. Only newer models with Entunes 3.0 will get it and I want it my 2018 Corolla.
Great walk through but my God you have to sell your soul, all your information and allow them to track you in order to use this. You would also think that they would make it far less complicated for older people to set up. Having to hit so many buttons and hit allow 60 times is a bit insane.
My car, a 2019 Nissan Sentra SR, is equipped with Android Auto. I followed all the steps, but when it comes to physically plugging the phone into the usb port of the car, Android Auto doesn't come up on my Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ :(
Try un-installing and re-installing the android auto app and making sure the phone software is up to date. If that doesn't work get another android phone and try it, that way you will isolate if the problem is with the car or the phone.
I have Android Auto downloaded on my Note 20+ Ultra and the app does not show up with all my other apps either. If you go to the top of one of your app pages, click on search at the top of the screen, type in Android Auto and it will appear there.
I have my old Samsung Galaxy s7 connected via bluetooth to my new (slightly used) Hyundai Palisade. I've just downloaded and installed Android Auto on my phone. I'm assuming I can do the installation and setup via bluetooth and forget the cable? Do I need to do a bluetooth pairing each time I get into the car? Thanks in advance! P.S. I've never had a vehicle with an "infotainment" display before...it's all very new to me.
Based on a quick internet search it looks like the Palisade still requires the cable connection for Android Auto, it doesn't look like its wireless in that vehicle. Try connecting it with a cable and going through the setup I show in this video it should work.
When I plug the phone in it says car android will stop your bluetooth then option to switch, if you hit switch nothing happens and goes back to normal??? please help me
Mine is personally way faster than shown in this video in my 2019 Mk7 Jetta. I wonder if all the Subaru units are this slow. Out of all the cars I've had with Android Auto, VW seems to utilize it the best. Only down side is you cannot see what media is playing in your gage cluster, will just say " android auto " in my last car, 2019 Kia Optima SX-L it displayed what was playing in Android Auto. Same with my 2018 Chevy Equinox 2.0T. So not sure why it isnt enabled on VW cars.

I would actually try a different cord, a brand new one if you happen to have one around. The cord you're currently using might be starting to have issues internally and that may be causing the problem
No specific suggestions but a good quality cable is the best bet. Those ones that sell for $3 at the gas station probably aren't the best choice for Android Auto because it does need to maintain a constant connection
Can't use Android Auto with Bluetooth, but wireless Android Auto will be available for all phones with Android 11 IF your car supports wireless Android Auto.
i use the new android auto with android 9 on my phone via usb port. it works, but not the voice command on the steering wheel nor on the microphone button on the touchscreen in the car. when i press on of these buttons the "voice command symbol" appears, pulse when i am talking, but nothing happens. it works fine, if I use the the voice command on my phone. does anyone face the same issue and knows how to solve it? it is really annoying this way. thank you in advance.
So apparently there is a new build of Android Auto rolling out this week that addresses voice command issues, so make sure the app is updated and hopefully that fixes the problem. Thanks for watching
So your voice commands used to work but they do not anymore, correct? Did they stop working after a phone update or some other change like that? One thing that might help is to un-install the android auto app from your phone completely and go through the whole setup process on it again, that's something I would try
I use the Bluetooth audio streaming in my own car to listen to RUclips videos while driving (not android auto), but you're not going to be able to WATCH them without doing some serious hacking. Per federal law (in the USA at least) it is illegal to show moving videos on the front screens of cars, so it's not something you can normally do.
@@CarDietrich that's ok. Android Auto doesn't work in my car anyway. I have a 2015 Chevy Malibu with a backup cam/MyLink System. I've had passengers wanting to watch RUclips videos on my screen. I didn't think it was possible, but I thought I'd just ask anyway. I'll tell them they will have to just use their phones or invest in a tablet if they wanna watch on a bigger screen. 😊👍🏻
It won't display the messages on the screen it will just read them to you. If there are new messages you can hit the bell icon on the screen to have them read to you
And you’re supposed to be driving the car while doing this ???????? ...I have it in my wife’s 2020 Elantra but I’m not at all sure how much (if at all) I will use it. ....pretty neat though.
Well don't drive the car while doing the setup that would be a disaster. After its set up and working you can do pretty much everything with voice commands so it works pretty well and you're able to keep your eyes on the road.
You have to add the favorites on your phone first (go into the contact screen and hit the little star icon) and then they will show up on the Android Auto. You can't actually add a favorite through Android Auto.
Hey great tutorial - I just retrofit Android Auto decoder and wondered if you knew any way to access the music files hard stored on my phone rather than using Google Music ?
Same. I hate how it takes over your phone and car radio and doesn't let you do anything else. If you try to look at anything on your phone while it's plugged in (even if you're not using Android Auto at the time) it won't let you and says it's "unsafe". That's not your f'ing decision, Google.
I've seen this happen before, only tip I can offer is make sure all of your system software is up to date, and if you update it and keeps happening un-install the android auto app and go through the whole setup again. If it still continues, it might be time for a new phone if yours is a couple years old. Thanks for watching!
I hope you can help me i have a Galaxy S10 and all the software on the phone are up-to-date But for some reason I cannot get new Andhra auto on my phone I download it and I go in the settings and check the Box for the new version and it just not working for me Can you Help me please
Well all the info I can find says to open the android auto app, click the three lines at the top left of the screen, go to settings and turn on try new android auto, but it sounds like you've already done that. I would try un-installing android auto from the phone, and then plugging the phone into the car so it prompts you to do all the setup stuff again, and see if that helps.
Make sure all of your software has the newest versions on your phone, uninstall and re-install Android Auto app, and make sure your car is Android Auto Compatible
You know what, that's a great question. Mine does the same thing and I went through the settings in Pandora and there doesn't seem to be a way to disable that. Maybe one of my kind viewers will have a suggestion for us?
The Android Phone I used to make the video is a Motorola Play e5. I did use an iPhone as well in the video but that was just to demonstrate the voice to text feature of Android Auto.
@@CarDietrich do you have to always hit the steering wheel button to talk to GA or can you just say ok google /hey google like you can if your phone is just connected to bluetooth normally ?
It's weird that you only get them part of the time, but to turn notifications on or off, on your phone go Launch Android Auto app > Settings > Tap Show message notifications, maybe try cycling that on and off a couple times. If that doesn't work see if turning the phone off and on helps.
Having to keep my phone plugged in kind of defeats the purpose. After downloading this, Bluetooth should kick in and my phone shouldn't need to be plugged in. Thats how I wish it worked 😪
I haven't seen door dash on any lists of apps that are optimized for Android Auto, if I were you I'd unplug the phone while waiting for orders so you know you can accept them. Not ideal but it would work.
"maybe something will happen ,maybe something won't happen , that's android auto" yup pretty much Android in a nutshell LOL maybe it will work maybe it won't maybe maps will give you proper directions , maybe it will direct you to drive the wrong way into on coming traffic or to the middle of nowhere to be left for dead, you just never know with Google
It was Apple Maps that was telling people to drive the wrong way and leading them down dead end roads, and in some cases people actually died because they were so lost they couldn't find their way out. Most people were lucky and got rescued before they actually died. Not to mention showing destinations in the middle of a lake or river, and showing places that had no road leading to them. This is why Apple now has Google Maps.
@@andreamitchell4758 You might wanna check the news. Every GPS is going to make a mistake now and then. But it was Apple Maps that literally got people killed.
I notice every time AA is launched it puts my phone into Do Not Disturb mode. Is there a way to talk on the phone when you're running Google Maps? Also you might want to pick Arco next time lol, and save yourself .46 cents per gallon on gas 😂 LOL I know, Shut Up, Larry.
@@CarDietrich Thank you, I'll give it a try. Before when I tried to call out and people to call in, people said they couldn't call in-it would connect them immediately to voice mail. Calling out it would say phone not available at this time. I suspect it had something to do with that do not disturb mode being activated when AA was launched? I then just started using Google Maps on my phone screen not plugged into the Aux port, so it didn't connect to my car screen. This allowed both incoming and outgoing calls to work fine, but it was also a big PITA having to pick up my phone each time to see the map.
Unfortunately the Do Not Disturb thing with Android Auto is kind of infamous for not being able to turn it off, and for messing around with incoming calls. Google claims it will still let incoming calls through, but this does not seem to be the case
It doesn't come standard with Android Auto, but I'm sure its possible to hack it to make it play RUclips videos. Not something I am interested in though, this video was just meant to show how to set up and use Android Auto in its standard form.
I have not experienced this problem myself but it seems to be common based on forum posts I have seen. Suggested solutions are the usual suspects: disconnect and re-connect the phone, un-install and re-install android auto, make sure the phone is updated, etc. There does not seem to be one magic bullet to fix it. Hopefully a future update for android auto will eliminate this problem. As a workaround I would recommend unplugging the phone from the car when you don't need the full android auto capability, and using bluetooth audio streaming to listen to music from your phone, if that is what you're trying to do. If your car is equipped with android auto it should have bluetooth audio streaming. Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance!

Is it possible to use AA in. Saab 95 NG with Harmon Kardon factory fitted
I'm using huawei phone and connect to android auto in my mazda cx8
Everything works perfectly except android auto keep rejecting my incoming call. Any solution for this?
In my experience, CarPlay works much better. I just bought a Pixel 4 from using an iPhone 8, both on latest software. CarPlay is pretty amazing and the interface is super clean. One thing I love with Apple and CarPlay, my passenger can open maps, search, and setup navigation. With AA, they have to unplug the device or I have to use voice commands. Unless I'm missing something in the setup, is there a way my passenger can open Google Maps while using AA without unplugging my Pixel 4?
Unfortunately I don't believe that's possible.
It used to be the opposite lol. I just went back to a galaxy and its how carplay used to be in 2018 smh. Carplay now works how android auto used to work back then
I have a Moto G Fast and for some reason I am unable to connect my phone to my car. I just bought a 2021 Civic Hatchback and haven't been able to connect to It with my phone. But my gf was able to connect with her S8. Do I need a new phone? I don't get any errors, It just doesn't let me connect.
Your phone should work, try updating the software if it needs it and try a brand new cable also.
Try getting a very high quality USB cord (as short as possible) like the link below. It made a difference for me. Also restarting my phone seemed to help.

Thanks for the video.
Thank you for watching!
Android data output has several different modes, only one will link up to the car
Took ages to work this out
Indeed, by default the correct one is selected tho
Why some lexus models like gx and lx still dont have the features
Whenever i try to connect note 9 plus or samsung s8 in honda accord 2019 it doesn’t connect with android auto. Only bluetooth music works, please guide me why this is causing problem!
I am assuming you already have the Android Auto app downloaded onto the phones, because it won't work without that. Other than that it looks like there is some Honda specific way to disable Android Auto on the car, and you have to re-activate it. Check this out it might help:
owners.honda.com/vehicles/information/2019/Accord-Sedan/features/Android-Auto-Integration/2/reactivate-android-auto
@@CarDietrich the only thing that is recent is the 1/2 sec audio during texting. Got a replacement phone and since I got it has been a bit different.
Thanks great video. I have a question. Can I play all the music on my phone using the 'Samsung Music' feature that came with my phone? Will that show on the screen or do i have to use some different app?
As long as you have the latest version of Samsung Music on your phone it should be compatible with Android Auto and show up on the screen in your car.
@@CarDietrich Wow that was a quick response I really appreciate it. Thank you.
Thank you for posting this. It is very helpful

I need help... I have a Hyundai 2016 Santa Fe Ultimate and I am unable to get android Auto on the factory head unit. They tell me that I should not change the head unit because it would interfere with the AC...ANY IDEAS? I am aware there is the wireless that is supposed to come out next week....would this help although your cell phone has to have the latest android OS which is 9 and my new cell phone has 8.1...HELP
Based on what I can tell Android Auto was not available on the Santa Fe until 2017, which means it probably won't work at all with your 2016 model unless you swap the head unit. There are several aftermarket options for you, but If they are going to mess with the climate control, maybe not the best choice. Perhaps a rear view mirror like this one would get you what you're looking for: www.rearviewsafety.com/g-series-rear-view-mirror-monitor-with-mirrorlink-display.html?gclid=CjwKCAiAxMLvBRBNEiwAKhr-nAJlrBZ_rnkQX5ed7u7YV78ZmYSlwsZLngTY7fjur_lk1RAuOTLE3hoCfcEQAvD_BwE
Does Android Auto work on 2018 Kia Optima lx?
It should, yes
It will use some data but not a huge amount, it's not like streaming movies or downloading big files.
Do we need USB cable which one is for it
Some cars are starting to go with wireless Android Auto, but most still need cables. You just need a USB cable that is compatible with your phone and will handle data transfer and is in good condition. Old frayed cables don't work well.
Hi, thank you for sharing. Is it the same install the Van Nissan car?
Yes it is standard procedure for all Android Auto cars, just make sure you have the USB cable plugged into the correct port
@@CarDietrich Awsome, I appreciated your help. 😘
They are changing over but some old 2020 models still don’t have AA.
They are already tracking you and have all your information. Might as well get the app then.
@@CarDietrich Thanks!
You're welcome
When I plug the phone in it says car android will stop your bluetooth then option to switch, if you hit switch nothing happens and goes back to normal??? please help me
Try deleting the bluetooth connection between the car and the phone and then plugging it in to see if that isolates the issue
When using Android Auto and Google Maps are you using data on your cell phone account?
Yes you are
Thanks dude
Is it me or does Android Auto seem real slow on your head unit. It's quick on my 2019 VW Arteon
Might be that or my not entirely modern Android phone
Mine is personally way faster than shown in this video in my 2019 Mk7 Jetta. I wonder if all the Subaru units are this slow. Out of all the cars I've had with Android Auto, VW seems to utilize it the best. Only down side is you cannot see what media is playing in your gage cluster, will just say " android auto " in my last car, 2019 Kia Optima SX-L it displayed what was playing in Android Auto. Same with my 2018 Chevy Equinox 2.0T. So not sure why it isnt enabled on VW cars.
I am having issues with mine AA. I always use the AA with the cable that comes with the phone but it keep disconnecting after a while of use. I have to take off the cable and connect it again to be able to get it to work; within a few minutes, it will disconnect and keep saying reconnecting. Please help 🙏!
I would actually try a different cord, a brand new one if you happen to have one around. The cord you're currently using might be starting to have issues internally and that may be causing the problem
@@CarDietrich thanks for your response, any suggestions on the best cable to get.
No specific suggestions but a good quality cable is the best bet. Those ones that sell for $3 at the gas station probably aren't the best choice for Android Auto because it does need to maintain a constant connection
@@CarDietrich thank you so much! I will definitely look into getting a new cable
Can you watch youtube videos on there?
Unfortunately not
I am finding it very difficult to believe you can get ANYWHERE in LA in only 35 minutes - always takes me at least 2 hours.
Technically that whole trip was within Orange County. Very close to LA but the traffic isn't quite as bad.
On average one hour to get to another LA address.
So sad what has happened to once fantastic highway networks.
Just the conspiracy nut in me I'd blur out the map if you can that map is lil too detailed for my liking
How do i connect android auto to my 2015 chevy malibu
I don't think the 2015 Malibu has this feature, I think you would need to replace the factory head unit with one that is compatible with Android Auto!
Does your phone need to be connected via a cable to allow for android auto or can you use it with Bluetooth as well?
For most cars yes the phone needs to be plugged in for Android Auto to work. Wireless Android Auto is becoming a thing but it isn't super common yet.
@@CarDietrich Thank you
Can't use Android Auto with Bluetooth, but wireless Android Auto will be available for all phones with Android 11 IF your car supports wireless Android Auto.
Can I connect two different Android 'phones to my car? At different times of course, for example, my 'phone and my wife's 'phone.

This exact thing keeps happening to me :( I have 2020 Hyundai Tucson and LG G7 Thinq, did you ever find a solution???
great clip. why my voice command does not work any more after a year? please help. i have a 2019 forester sport.

@@CarDietrich thank u for your reply. i have the latest AA version, the voice command is still not working. not sure Y. please help. very frustrating.
So your voice commands used to work but they do not anymore, correct? Did they stop working after a phone update or some other change like that? One thing that might help is to un-install the android auto app from your phone completely and go through the whole setup process on it again, that's something I would try
@@CarDietrich thank u. i did all that 2 and it's still not working. very frustrated....
Is there a way u can watch/listen to RUclips on ur car screen too?
You are very indulgent of your passengers. I admire that, but I do not emulate it. Thank you for watching!
Can Android Auto display inbuilt messaging application???
It won't display the messages on the screen it will just read them to you. If there are new messages you can hit the bell icon on the screen to have them read to you
And you’re supposed to be driving the car while doing this ???????? ...I have it in my wife’s 2020 Elantra but I’m not at all sure how much (if at all) I will use it. ....pretty neat though.
Well don't drive the car while doing the setup that would be a disaster. After its set up and working you can do pretty much everything with voice commands so it works pretty well and you're able to keep your eyes on the road.
Will this work on my 2015 chevy trax?
Unfortunately no, from what I can see Android Auto will only work on 2017 or newer Chevy Trax
I have a 2018 Subaru Impreza will this work? Can I load Apple Play?
Yes, Apply CarPlay and Android Auto were standard on the 2018 model Subaru Imprezas
Apple Play ??
i canot add numbers to phone favorites
You have to add the favorites on your phone first (go into the contact screen and hit the little star icon) and then they will show up on the Android Auto. You can't actually add a favorite through Android Auto.
Hey great tutorial - I just retrofit Android Auto decoder and wondered if you knew any way to access the music files hard stored on my phone rather than using Google Music ?
You can install an app like AIMP to play the music
Why you gotta bully Larry like that

So you have to have your phone plugged in at all times to use android auto?
On most systems yes. There are a few wireless systems coming out but for now they are few and far between.
i don't know android auto is a huge disappointment for me
it isn't
It's need work sometime it's just frezz
Same. I hate how it takes over your phone and car radio and doesn't let you do anything else. If you try to look at anything on your phone while it's plugged in (even if you're not using Android Auto at the time) it won't let you and says it's "unsafe". That's not your f'ing decision, Google.

It's weird that you only get them part of the time, but to turn notifications on or off, on your phone go Launch Android Auto app > Settings > Tap Show message notifications, maybe try cycling that on and off a couple times. If that doesn't work see if turning the phone off and on helps.
Does your phone receive the messages and it's just AA that doesn't show the notification, or are SMS not even received ?

Having to keep my phone plugged in kind of defeats the purpose. After downloading this, Bluetooth should kick in and my phone shouldn't need to be plugged in. Thats how I wish it worked 😪
Android auto takes over my doordash app and I cant except my orders what can I do
I haven't seen door dash on any lists of apps that are optimized for Android Auto, if I were you I'd unplug the phone while waiting for orders so you know you can accept them. Not ideal but it would work.
"maybe something will happen ,maybe something won't happen , that's android auto" yup pretty much Android in a nutshell LOL
maybe it will work maybe it won't maybe maps will give you proper directions , maybe it will direct you to drive the wrong way into on coming traffic or to the middle of nowhere to be left for dead, you just never know with Google
If you use the voice command to tell the phone to call someone when google maps is active in the car, you should be able to talk on the phone that way
@@CarDietrich Thank you, I'll give it a try.

No sound from my video or no sound from your Android Auto?
Hard Workrr12
Android auto no sound only week great for a week.
@@CarDietrich Yes my SUV has android auto, and apple car play. I use Google maps alot everyday for work. I been everywhere as well looking for the fix, but I cant find it anywhere. Thanks for checking out and fast reply..
No problem, I will tell you in my experience Apple CarPlay has a lot less issues than Android Auto, it's much easier to set up and the user experience is cleaner. I have both an Android for work and an iPhone for my personal phone, so I'm not super biased one way or the other, but yeah Apple CarPlay is cleaner overall. Thank you so much for watching!

Step two I thought was to download app....?
Well when you plug the phone into the car it prompts you to download the app. I suppose if you want to download the app ahead of time you could, I just wanted to demonstrate the full setup for Android Auto from start to finish because it is a bit more complicated that Apple CarPlay.
What a huge waste of my time. All I saw was his big ole' thumb doing something and he narrated at the speed of sound.
