My biggest gripe with Waze is the requirement to add traffic notification via the screen. This is a potential hazzard that could easily be avoided by allowing voice reporting. I've watched dozens of these so called tutorials and nobody seems to be addressing this issue. Am I missing something?
Yep! The good news is you can report incidents with just your voice. Here are more details for you: support.google.com/waze/answer/9332876?hl=en#zippy=%2Cwhat-you-can-ask-the-google-assistant-to-do-in-waze
My gripe is related. In order to report easily the most common traffic hazard, a vehicle stopped by the side of the road, you have to wade through several pages and buttons to get it done. Should be one button.
Very well explained! I use WAZE everyday when in my truck. I have the phone mounted and have the WAZE map running. It reports very useful road info while I am driving.
Thats why I don't use waze in my truck, if there is traffic delays on route it will reroute you down roads with overgrown trees, way to narrow for a truck etc, its great in a car, but in a truck no.
Where I live I don't have issues with using Waze for navigation. My preference is to use a Garmin GPS receiver mounted under the dash, or to use the GPS that came built in to the radio unit. I like Waze for reporting traffic, construction, and if there are radar traps.
This was quite helpful. Even more so for me than a lot of people, I’d wager, as I live in Victoria. Imagine my surprise when I realized, ‘Wait. I know all these places!’
Good video for someone like me who is horrible with a smart phone. Thanks for your great explanation, I will use it to set myself up properly. You are a life-saver!
We went back to Google maps. The only improvement I would like to see on Maps is a distance estimator after youve made a turn. Our ancient map guidance in our old Jeep Liberty will say "prepare to turn left in x kms". So you know you can relax in that lane for quite a while still, or need to do some lane hopping to turn the opposite direction fairly soon. We have been caught trying to cross several lanes of traffic with less than a 2 or 300 m warning if the next turn is very close.
Anyone who totally depends on WAZE to reach their destination is going to end up trying to turn onto an airport runway one day. I always map out my destination and use WAZE as a secondary aid. I just ignore it when I’m told to turn south when the map shows I absolutely need to be traveling west. I grew up reading maps from AAA so I know my directions before I even leave the house.
Waze and GPS can't tell you everything that matters. There may be narrow but legal roads that your larger vehicle isn't a good fit on. There mat be rough or dilapidated pavement beating your car to death. And extra starts and stops put extra wear on transmissions and clutches. I use GPS to do the final leg of local drives since I know the main roads and all their nuances already. I use Waze to scan for wrecks and unexpected bottlenecks ahead so I can consider re-routing. Waze has the fault of both being freely available and of being widely used, so the supposed speedier and better route it wants you to take will be full of traffic following Waze, costing you any advantage you might have had. Oftentimes you're better off choosing your own route where none of the 'Waze traffic' will be.
I used to love Waze until, after an app update, the audio quit working through my car's speakers and now only works through the phone's speakers (iPhone 12 Pro Max). Their customer support was unable to solve the problem. Also, Waze has developed a tendency to freeze during navigation, once making me late for an important medical appointment when it caused me to miss several turns in an unfamiliar city. I ended up pulling into a parking lot so I could enter the address into Google Maps and complete my trip.
Use to happen in my mums car but just changed the "sound" setting in the app to silent back to alerts while the car was on and now she's back to being a victim of batman's directions
7:09 There are benefits if you are a map editor. As you level up, you can edit wider area of the map. At the start, low levels, you can edit 1km around the roads that you commuted (except major roads and highways).
I used to use Waze but I got tried of it taking me all of these wacky, out of the way routes that were A) Way longer than they needed to be B) No way were they faster than what my standard route would have been.
Waze is usually pretty good about traffic info. I usually turn it on when I'm on a known route (i.e. I don't need directions), but just want to know how long I'll be stuck in this slowly moving parking lot on the highway. One major gripe I have with Waze is when driving in rural areas, the app will direct me through roads with a lot less traffic (as designed), however, there is usually a very good reason these roads have less traffic as they tend to be dangerous, not well kept up or just plain annoying to drive on (e.g. lots of hills, narrow roads and/or high crime areas). I'd prefer to spend 2 minutes driving on a regular highway and not get dead.
What ever happened to just turning on waze while I’m driving, without a destination entered. They don’t need to have my personal addresses put in there for their data mining. And sometimes I just drive. Mine doesn’t work in this mode. Tried everything I know.
I've used Waze for years... I do like the crowd sourcing.. in my area there used to be a couple of hundred waze users ...now I don't think there's that many anymore... I do like the new voices they've added though
I'm not a 'phone person' so I haven't tried WAZE, though I've heard it's very good. From this video I gather WAZE works well and is easy, that's all I can ask for. Thanks.
2:55 I use this feature extensively when booking the pick up time for a CAB for the next day, or when I need to arrive at an appointment somewhere at a specific time.
The only thing that is preventing me fom using waze is that there is no sattelite view on the maps. Having sattelite view actually helps a lot especially when finding specific building or places at the end of the journey.
0:16 Looks like it may do what I want it to do. Want a live navigation map because the car I've just bought doesn't have it and everyone recommends phone as opposed to a dedicated sat nav unit . Google maps won't let me do this without entering a destination I believe and also running Waze while driving or passenger should help improve my google location history it seems from what I've read
Yes, Google Maps used to allow you to use navigation without a destination some years ago but for unknown reasons they removed it. This is one of Waze's advantages.
I used waze a while back but had two issues: 1) ads. I would have paid to get rid of ads but it wasn’t an option. 2) waze was unstable and would always crash on long drives. It was not just inconvenient but dangerous to suddenly lose navigation in an unfamiliar place
It must be your phone. I do regular 5-7 hour journeys. No issues, if you leave it in the foreground. I'm aware of some Android phones that are aggressive 'background killers'!
I must admit I haven't experienced crashes myself. Depending on the age of your phone and the available RAM if you're running multiple apps, that might account for the crashes. Also, sometimes individuals can just be unlucky and their installation was corrupted somehow. Worst case, it might require resetting your phone and installing clean, but that's the extreme option.
Had Waze and deleted it. You can’t plan a route more than a few miles, max 100 ish. Spoke many times with Waze and even suggested that they have a paid for version whereby you could plan for longer routes but 🤷♂️
We suffer from HS2 near us with frequent road changes, most of which are not signposted properly so Waze is really useful for the proper information we need.
Here’s what I want to know using the Waze app. How do I backtrack on a route? There are times where I want to go back the exact same way that I came. Does anyone know how to do this using Waze?
Does anyone ever explain how to find diesel fuel on waze? Everything I google says to scroll down under gas stations and select but GAS STATIONS isn't an option
Hi. No, the setting seems to have been removed. What you can do is add a gas station stop on your route and then review the gas station to make sure it has diesel first. Not ideal but it's something.
I was happy with Waze but sometimes takes you to the wrong address, or does necessary turns around to get you to the place you are intending to go. Is not quick to display the road when stating a navigation. Google google maps can also be misleading , and Garmin you are about to hit the main road and Garmin is still on the parking lot. Not sure why the GPS are all behaving erratically at times. They all need some big improvements
@@HowToDoItTech oh ya that was turned on ... when i turned it on with wifi then went to the car it worked fine,, but when i turned it on in the car with gps only the voice turns didnt work,,, it voiced out train tracks ahead thou lol,,, just not turns,,, weird
Used Waze extensively on a road trip from Maryland to Georgia. Loved the convenience, since I've never made that trip before. Loved the road conditions ahead, except for the "vehicle on side of road" warning. I don't drive on the shoulder, so unless the vehicle is sticking out into the travel lane, I was getting annoyed at every abandoned vehicle. Is there a way to turn off that particular warning while keeping the other warnings in place?
Yes there is! I'm working on a new video with all the updates, but for your convenience so you don't have to wait, you can go into Settings>Alerts & Reports and you can choose which alerts you want to recieve.
Yeah, nice. But I always wonder what is the quickest and most convenient way to add hazard information while driving. And, how to pinpoint the exact location on the map.
When will we be able to use a more effective warning sound for speed camera or light radar with waze? For example, it would be nice to be able to play-hear a police whistle or a sound of our choice effectively while driving. Flitsmeister's speed radar warning system is the best..
🇨🇱 I have been using Waze for a couple of years by now. However one thing I am doing wrong or does not work, is adding (saving) places to my list. It just won't take it ❗ Is there some limitation, to it ❓ Saludos de 🇨🇱
I noticed in the latest update the option has changed. Now you can save access the Saved Locations by tapping 'Plan A Drive', then the Plus Sign, and then 'Saved Placed'. When you search for a new store you can add it to your Favourite Stores by tapping the Save icon.
5:03 when I ask "ok google, where am I" it constantly tells me the suburb I left from, not my current suburb. Which would be good if it actually said the current suburb, as Waze often takes you down place I have never been before.
Great but (1) how do you ask Waze to repeat the last direction? Other people in the car speak loudly just exactly when Waze is saying "take the next .......turn" (2) Waze is also unable to display information on the HUD of my car when using Waze on CarPlay.
Sadly only Google Maps navigation has that feature. On Google Maps during a trip you can tap on the green dialogue at the top with the next turn to make it repeat itself. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to use CarPlay myself. What information are you missing on CarPlay? Is it the turn-by-turn directions or other app updates?
@@HowToDoItTech I will try Google Maps to see if its is better. On the builtin navigation, if I press the Nav button, it repeats the voice direction. Not so on any CarPlay app as far as I know. Also, I am not missing any info on CarPlay but the Heads Up Display (HUD) does not show the app information (but it does for the builtin GPS) so I have to look at the display rather than the HUD.
Thank you for video. Is there a way to make the voice (UK Kate) a little faster. She makes announcements so slow!! Also is there a way of flipping location and destination directions like you can in google maps?
Google maps sucks so fuggin hard with over half the screen taken up by bs that always comes back when my phone screen times out. I don't use "turn by turn" directions so I just glance at my phone, but then the path is covered by that garbage! (the screen before you hit "go" on your trip, I just want a map, nothing more but google being google....) I'll give this a shot and see if its any better. thank you for the video :) Edit: Never mind... After reading some recent reviews, the app turned to cancer garbage and is "always on" even when not in use. Wont be giving this a try now. Oh well.
I feel like some of the feature are awkward and not straight forwards, i tried to add my cousin to my waze friends and after about 20 mins of us both googling how and messing with the app we gave up after seeing a forum saying they removed the feature from waze
Not that I'm aware of. I've been through the settings a lot for an upcoming refresh for 2024 and you're just beholden to the default options when the notification is available.
so how is the the best sat nav? can it display the list of incoming parking places (like in Sygic) within at least 50 km ahead, so I can plan when and where to take my break, visit toilet, etc??? you didn't show it. can I setup my driving speed on diff. roads, so it'll show me the correct arrival time?
Is it possible that without setup driving destination, but just keeping app opened and active while driving, Waze will alert speed limit? I am planning to randomly drive country side. Any Gadget which offers just road speed limit?
No, as far as I'm aware you will need to keep the app open to monitor speed limit changes. I've only seen automated systems in some of the more modern built-in navigation systems for cars unforunately.
I just realized this is only for the United Kingdom so you can probably disregard my previous question as to how much does the program cost on a monthly basis and where I can buy it at because all the Google programs are broken they don't work on any of my 7.
Hold down your finger on the app icon to add to your Home Screens. Then once on your home screen, hold down the icon and drag it to the screen you want. Hope that helps!
I was told that Waze can show where speed cameras are located and how to access your speed? Can't find anything although have only just downloaded the app.
All good but how can I orient myself when starting out… Waze often points me in the wrong direction and then I’m off and running in the wrong direction.
Hi. I really, really, really want to do a video about Waze on Android Auto but haven't got the resources to upgrade my car yet. I'll be looking at borrowing someone else's vehicle so I can make a video about in the near future.
Hello I drive an EV , has Waze added the EV charging stations on route ? I am using Apple Maps and Google Maps it would be interesting to try Waze. I just drove from Victoria to Calgary did the whole trip there and back by charging at Chevron On The Run they have fast EV charging which is also free . Thank you.
Yep! You can adjust your route based on your vehicle type so that it will factor in charging stations. Go to the settings menu at the top left (three lines). Tap on Settings>Vehicle Details>Electric Vehicles>Turn on EV Features. Now you can choose your plug type (to filter out incompatible stops along your route), and choose the providers or 'Networks' that you prefer. Now when you plan a trip it will navigate via those charging stations you stipulate
Anyone else had the issue where Waze randomly thinks you're on a completely different road and continually reroutes until you have to close out of the app completely then relaunch and (this is important) NOT continue the trip you just closed out of, but instead start a new one?
Yes, this happens when your GPS isn’t appropriately locked onto the GPS signal. Most common when starting a trip when the phone hasn’t captured GPS signals fully. Make sure you have good access to overhead, wait until the phone can establish good GPS lock, and you’ll be OK. Oh, and then say thank you to your United States Air Force for building, launching, and maintaining the GPS constellation in mid-Earth orbit so that we can all navigate safely! 🇺🇸
@@greghester2720 Google Maps can occasionally randomly start rotating the map in all kind of crazy directions. Its happened to me and there are also comments as to such on the Play Store. Both apps have their issues.
I downloaded Waze a couple of days ago. It wanted my date of birth to register an account. Why? Data harvesting is the biggest turn off with software and given that other apps don't intrude nearly as much then other apps it is.
Sadly no, just alternate routes after you hit Go. It would be consistent with their mission statement though. Their goal is to just provide the fastest commute each time.
Sadly, once you update there's no easy way to regress your version. You could sideload an older version you can find on certain websites like APKMirror.com but it will depend on your confidence level manually sideloading apps rather than using the official Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Is there a way to plan/check a route but you are not at the starting point? For example, I'd like to see what the trip from Toronto to Waterloo is but I am in Peterborough currently.
Yes, there is :) When you open Waze, tap the three lines at the top left hand corner to open up the app settings. At the top of the menu is 'Plan A Drive' tap that and then tap the blue plus sign icon at the bottom. Now you can set your destination and there's an option to set your start point too.
@@HowToDoItTech No 3 dots in upper left but I did get to settings by clicking on My Waze. No settings labelled Plan a Drive though. There is "Planned Drives" under notifications but doesn't appear to be the same screen you are describing (i.e. blue plus sign). It's like it's different.
That is a great question. I'll have to test it on an iPhone to see what's missing. Anything in particular you're not seeing versus the Android version?
Without automatic search of my contacts as I type, I’m not interested. If I type “bob” because it’s all I can think of at the moment, I want to see the screen populate with a list of Bob contacts to tap. Does it do this?
tried waize several times on different phones and in differet cars over many years. Most of the time it cant find the route "woops something went wrong" or "go somewhere else first". When do get it going, it frequently crashes after about 20 minutes needing phone restart. I cant remember ever having it work fully for any journey undertaken. Conclusion is it is useless. Google maps works all of the time. However to save a theroetical minute or two, GPS maps often direct me to use unsealed roads in poor condition, when can only travel at 40 to 50 kph (not the posted 100kph). Google also suggests short cuts in the city requiring turns accross 6 lane highways without traffic lights during peak traffic - impossible.
The post said on several phones in different cars. So unless your app is particularly fickle, its the app. It has real trouble on long journeys say over an hour or two cant work it out.@@HowToDoItTech
If you want to use this system in Eastern EU say in Bulgaria it will work ONLY regard names and places on the maps in the cyrillic alphabet, Google maps shows both Latin and Cyrillic. So, if its only Latin for you, don't bother to use it in B.G. Or Russia for example..
Seems I’m stuck with a black screen with point to point directions. I can no longer get it to show the white overview map. I go into settings. I delete and download waze over and over but am stuck with this black screen.
Sorry to hear that. What phone are you using and what version of Android or iOS? There's a thread about compatibility with the latest version of Waze here for Android: support.google.com/androidauto/thread/165818053/the-waze-application-shows-only-a-black-screen-it-used-to-work-fine-couple-of-days-ago?hl=en
If it's not a hardware or software issue (i.e. related to your device or not having the latest version of the app ) it sounds like where you're traveling in areas where you lose internet connection? If so, I'd actually recommend migrating to Google Maps so you can download maps to your phone instead. That way even when you don't have an internet connection you still have all the maps data. ruclips.net/video/3yR1M2mEhzE/видео.htmlsi=hhDOTaiI8slIY9_k&t=793
That's interesting :/ So you're unable to 'Star' journeys? The way I do it is to search for a location and then you can tap the star and 'Save Place' in the top left hand of the pop-up.
Does an iPhone have to be plugged into the car to use Waze or should it work wirelessly like calling does? It doesn’t work unless plugged in is that normal

That's pretty bonkers. I checked Google's troubleshooting support pages and they only mention it works. It could be that either the CarPlay device in your car needs an update or maybe your phone. support.google.com/waze/answer/9123774?hl=en
I've been using Waze for years and absolutely love it, but the new update has added an ear-piercing bell sound notification replacing the voice when there are hazards / police etc. More than once this has made me jump while in control of a 50mph 1 tonne killing machine. Very bad choice.
Hi. So, the red number with the minutes is how much extra time that stop will add to your journey if you make the detour. For insntance, if it says +5 min, it means it will add an addition five minutes to your overall trip. The miles/kilometers number is the distance added to your trip.
Hello, I am having trouble with the freeway or non freeway option to my understanding if I tap the area that says freeway and it's blue lit up, that means no freeway correct..?7:347:34
Hi. So, you'll first need to plan your route and then in the app go to Routes>Settings>Avoid Freeways and toggle on the option. Then go back using the arrow at the top left and now your route will change to take minor roads instead. Hope that helps!
How do you report a hazard after you've passed it? Every time Ive tried to add a current condition report, it drops the info exactly where I'm stopped at (say, my house) and won't let me move it to where I saw it (say, a tree across the road a block from my house)
@@HowToDoItTech Understood. Problem is if I'm driving solo, or riding a motorcycle, I may be miles away before I have a chance to begin pressing any buttons
You still haven’t answered your own question! To someone who has Waze installed and rarely uses it (ie most of us) what’s the simplest way to get directions during a journey to a new place we suddenly realise we need help with? If we’re already driving it must involve voice control but do we start by invoking Google or is it quicker to tap the microphone label on Waze? I tried this earlier and it turned out to be wayyy more complicated than I was expecting, hence being here right now patiently waiting for you to explain it… which you don’t! 🤔
@@HowToDoItTech No, I mean driving without navigation because I don’t expect to need it and then realising I’m not sure about something and so try to begin a search while I’m driving. I just assumed that’s how most people use it most of the time… no? Because so many people connect phones to CarPlay or Android Auto I imagine the first step could either be 1) Waze via voice control or 2) asking Siri or Google to do the whole thing. 👍👍
@anonimushbosh Gotcha. Okay so without touching a screen, providing you have the assistant turned on you can say: "OK, Google. Navigate to XXX" while driving. It will automatically launch a route
Hi. I'm retired and travel alot. In 2023 I got caught with fines for entering Low Emission Zones in Europe. This year I'm travelling through Baltic countries and back to France via Scandinavia Disappointed I can't find an app that warns of upcoming LEZs. Is there such a thing please?
Good morning @erick23d. So, as a starting point in my video I cover off almost exactly what you need. However, you'll want to replace my Sony TV and Google TV with your LG TV and Apple TV. ruclips.net/video/OAgqTO6pNXw/видео.htmlsi=JwH3CgPIZgILwG7h You will add your set-top box by selecting Add Device>Bluetooth or Infrared (depending on how your original remote works with it)>Search the brand name and select the model of the set-top box. Unfortunately at this point, the set-up will be brand and model specific which I can't recreate here. However, all you'll need to do is follow the basic instructions in the app to add it. Unfortunately, you can't control the Philips Hue Sync box as it's not supported (at least for me). You'll continue to need to use the Hue app to turn on the light effects. Please let me know how far this gets you.
What setting do I use on my phone if I am using Waze with Android Auto? Should the audio be set to Bluetooth, speaker on the phone, USB? Thanks. Very useful presentation.
Does it have settings to verbalise what lane to get in in, it find it doesnt give you wnough time before you have to take nect steps so often find in the wrong lane, I also find it doesn't give you enough time to find out (verbally) if any1 know of any sat nav that gives this would be great
Unfortunately I don't have CarPlay to be able to test this, but if you want to completely disconnect Waze on your phone, you will need to uninstall the app on CarPlay. However, if you're only looking to temporarily disconnect the app from CarPlay, I found this video about putting the app into Sleep Mode: ruclips.net/video/MrtZjKJP2QE/видео.html
So, you should have a little white circle on your map that is your compass. If it's not there yet: Go to Settings > Map Display > scroll to Quick Access and then toggle on the compass
Great and I have had waze since I bought the car BUT I have a big problem of not having a signal outside of my house or when I do get a signal and i start to drive I then looe the signal as I live in Devon UK HELP
Waze is worse then Google Maps in that way. The same GPS and mobile network that you phone use will work much better in Google Maps then in Waze. Google probably made that intentional, since they own Waze.
Start drive on home WiFi, if you lose cell signal it will still show route and location using GPS but won't update traffic or ETA until your phone picks up a cell tower.
Your best bet is to use Google Maps instead if you're out of signal. You can download maps in advance and save them on your phone. While you can pre-download your route on Waze by starting a journey at home on wifi first, you will lose that data the moment the app needs to re-cache or you potentially turn off your phone, etc. Here's a link to my other video about downloading Google Maps in advance: ruclips.net/video/3yR1M2mEhzE/видео.html

My biggest want for Waze is multiple stops along a route, for roadtrips.
What ever happened to just turning on waze while I’m driving, without a destination entered. They don’t need to have my personal addresses put in there for their data mining. And sometimes I just drive. Mine doesn’t work in this mode. Tried everything I know.
Interesting, I've never seen any ads on the app in Australia...
@@bukton10 it was over multiple generations of phone not one single device and not Android and not running in the background
@@HowToDoItTech it was over multiple new iPhones. I eventually just gave up and settled on Apple Maps. Thank you for your reply
Interesting video. Thanks!
Awesome work 😊
Thank you!
Here’s what I want to know using the Waze app. How do I backtrack on a route? There are times where I want to go back the exact same way that I came. Does anyone know how to do this using Waze?
Sadly there's no option for retracing your exact route. Waze updates automatically based on traffic conditions and other factors.
Perhaps try something like Gas Buddy?
I was happy with Waze but sometimes takes you to the wrong address, or does necessary turns around to get you to the place you are intending to go. Is not quick to display the road when stating a navigation. Google google maps can also be misleading , and Garmin you are about to hit the main road and Garmin is still on the parking lot. Not sure why the GPS are all behaving erratically at times. They all need some big improvements
My issue with Waze is the amount of private data collected.
Yup. I decided not to register because of this. There is plenty of good competition without Waze.
What about Google maps 🤔
nice,, i use it on my tablet and notice if i only use gps it doesnt have the voice turns ?
Hmmm... interesting. In the settings you should be able to switch on voice navigation :/
@@HowToDoItTech oh ya that was turned on ... when i turned it on with wifi then went to the car it worked fine,, but when i turned it on in the car with gps only the voice turns didnt work,,, it voiced out train tracks ahead thou lol,,, just not turns,,, weird
I love your username!!!!! TRUMP2024. ❤❤
@@HowToDoItTech Thank you so much. Can't wait to use it now with the new settings.
Yeah, nice. But I always wonder what is the quickest and most convenient way to add hazard information while driving. And, how to pinpoint the exact location on the map.
It would be nice if waze would have a split screen at exits and intersections like Garmin has.
When will we be able to use a more effective warning sound for speed camera or light radar with waze? For example, it would be nice to be able to play-hear a police whistle or a sound of our choice effectively while driving. Flitsmeister's speed radar warning system is the best..
That's a great question. There are a number of improvements I'd make to also differentiate it from Google Maps too
🇨🇱
I have been using Waze for a couple of years by now.
However one thing I am doing wrong or does not work, is adding (saving) places to my list. It just won't take it ❗
Is there some limitation, to it ❓
Saludos de 🇨🇱
I noticed in the latest update the option has changed. Now you can save access the Saved Locations by tapping
'Plan A Drive', then the Plus Sign, and then 'Saved Placed'.
What happens when I'm in the sticks...no mobile cover?
Very helpful, thanks!
#somethingwentwrong, this sums up my experience with WAZE! 😂 If I want to reach my destination I must use something that actually works.
This amazing! Thank you!
I've been checking but sadly there's no way to speed up the voice or flip the route 😔
Google maps sucks so fuggin hard with over half the screen taken up by bs that always comes back when my phone screen times out.
I don't use "turn by turn" directions so I just glance at my phone, but then the path is covered by that garbage! (the screen before you hit "go" on your trip, I just want a map, nothing more but google being google....)
I'll give this a shot and see if its any better. thank you for the video :)
Edit: Never mind...
When it re-routes you to save time, can you set a threshold? Such as don’t reroute unless it saves 10 or more minutes…
Not that I'm aware of. I've been through the settings a lot for an upcoming refresh for 2024 and you're just beholden to the default options when the notification is available.
Stopped using Waze after it wouldn't stop turning on my iPhone app via the CarPlay link bug.
I have the same problem with it, I wish they would fix it.
That's a pain. When I have the right equipment, I'd love to test Waze with CarPlay
In the U.K. it’s not legal to operate your phone while driving, so you can only use these features through CarPlay.
so how is the the best sat nav? can it display the list of incoming parking places (like in Sygic) within at least 50 km ahead, so I can plan when and where to take my break, visit toilet, etc??? you didn't show it. can I setup my driving speed on diff. roads, so it'll show me the correct arrival time?
Thanks for the information. I'll have to try Sygic myself
Tomtom always shows the speed limit on your road, even when not navigating.
I just realized this is only for the United Kingdom so you can probably disregard my previous question as to how much does the program cost on a monthly basis and where I can buy it at because all the Google programs are broken they don't work on any of my 7.
That's a pain. When yo mention 7, what devices are they?
Thanks for sharing. How do I get WAZE App icon to be displayed on the first screen of my SAMSUNG Galaxy A10 GSM?
Hold down your finger on the app icon to add to your Home Screens. Then once on your home screen, hold down the icon and drag it to the screen you want. Hope that helps!
1:51 - that's not the "current time". That's the ETA. The current time can be seen way at the top left of the screen.
Gah. I messed that up. Thanks.
I was told that Waze can show where speed cameras are located and how to access your speed? Can't find anything although have only just downloaded the app.
So, you'll see speedtraps when other users add them to the map.
All good but how can I orient myself when starting out… Waze often points me in the wrong direction and then I’m off and running in the wrong direction.
I have the same issue unfortunately. The app will get confused when stationary at times.
Will it work with android auto? What are the pros compared to google maps?
@@HowToDoItTech Thank you so much for your fast reply thats helps a lot.
For gas stations you can have them sorted by price. Within a certain range. At least this works in Europe
Anyone else had the issue where Waze randomly thinks you're on a completely different road and continually reroutes until you have to close out of the app completely then relaunch and (this is important) NOT continue the trip you just closed out of, but instead start a new one?
Interesting 🤔 I haven't experienced this but will keep a look out for the bug
Yes, this happens when your GPS isn’t appropriately locked onto the GPS signal. Most common when starting a trip when the phone hasn’t captured GPS signals fully. Make sure you have good access to overhead, wait until the phone can establish good GPS lock, and you’ll be OK. Oh, and then say thank you to your United States Air Force for building, launching, and maintaining the GPS constellation in mid-Earth orbit so that we can all navigate safely! 🇺🇸
You could also try Google maps at that point!
@@greghester2720 Google Maps can occasionally randomly start rotating the map in all kind of crazy directions. Its happened to me and there are also comments as to such on the Play Store. Both apps have their issues.
Well done! Going to use Waze more often then google maps!
I downloaded Waze a couple of days ago. It wanted my date of birth to register an account. Why? Data harvesting is the biggest turn off with software and given that other apps don't intrude nearly as much then other apps it is.
No custom routes? What if I don't always want to take the fastest route? Both Google Maps and Waze seem to lack such a simple option.
Sadly no, just alternate routes after you hit Go. It would be consistent with their mission statement though. Their goal is to just provide the fastest commute each time.
How do u reroute if u want to do so while on the primary path?
All you have to do is tap 'Routes’ after tapping on the little arrow on the bottom right. Then it'll give you some alternative route options.
I just opened WAZE to add my upcoming trip and discovered they made an upgrade and I do not like it! How do I go back to another version?
Oh, found "Plan a Drive". It was under My Waze at top right. Thanks.
Sir, Why doesn't the Waze App interface on my iPhone 14 Pro have the same options as yours? is there any solution?
That is a great question. I'll have to test it on an iPhone to see what's missing. Anything in particular you're not seeing versus the Android version?
Without automatic search of my contacts as I type, I’m not interested. If I type “bob” because it’s all I can think of at the moment, I want to see the screen populate with a list of Bob contacts to tap. Does it do this?
No, sadly not. Google Maps does however.
tried waize several times on different phones and in differet cars over many years.
Sorry to hear you're having issues with Waze. The crashing makes me think it might be your phone. What model and make do you use?
1:50 not the current time, but the estimated time you'll get to your destination :)
I love it, but my phone often loses the connection. What can I do?
If it's not a hardware or software issue (i.e. related to your device or not having the latest version of the app ) it sounds like where you're traveling in areas where you lose internet connection? If so, I'd actually recommend migrating to Google Maps so you can download maps to your phone instead. That way even when you don't have an internet connection you still have all the maps data.

Is there a way to plan routes in different countries? I keep on getting an error code when looking up other locations on Route Planner
Sadly not, it would seem to be blocked by geo location. I'd recommend using Google Maps instead.
The iOS Waze app is a little different but mostly the same. I learned a few things despite using the iOS Waze for ten years.
My latest version can't save favorites as store, only work and home setting options.
That's interesting :/ So you're unable to 'Star' journeys? The way I do it is to search for a location and then you can tap the star and 'Save Place' in the top left hand of the pop-up.
Yes you can add a stop but i didn't see any way to cancel a stop. What am I missing out?
Unfortunately not. There doesn't seem to be a way to cancel a stop on a route. This is even more surprising as Google Maps does have the option.
Is there a way to show satellite view on Waze?
Does an iPhone have to be plugged into the car to use Waze or should it work wirelessly like calling does? It doesn’t work unless plugged in is that normal
Yes, providing your car entertainment system supports CarPlay and has a Bluetooth connection, you can use Waze wirelessly.
@@HowToDoItTech I have a 21 crosstrek limited and it does have wireless Apple car play, music and phone calls work but Waze doesn’t unless plugged in, doesn’t make sense to me I’m trying to eliminate the cord and use a charging pad but Waze is the only thing that won’t work
That's pretty bonkers. I checked Google's troubleshooting support pages and they only mention it works. It could be that either the CarPlay device in your car needs an update or maybe your phone.

Any update to this? Features added recently.
I might revisit soon. I saw the UI changed somewhat too
I've been using Waze for years and absolutely love it, but the new update has added an ear-piercing bell sound notification replacing the voice when there are hazards / police etc. More than once this has made me jump while in control of a 50mph 1 tonne killing machine.
Very bad choice.
That is alarming, if you'll pardon the pun. I'll have to revisit the latest changes soon.
I just wanna know how to interpret the plus signs and mileages off to the side when you want to add a stop to your trip
Hi. So, the red number with the minutes is how much extra time that stop will add to your journey if you make the detour. For insntance, if it says +5 min, it means it will add an addition five minutes to your overall trip. The miles/kilometers number is the distance added to your trip.
The worst thing is not being able to add more than one intermediary point.
This guy is root mad just like me when I was a lot younger.
I want a friggin' compass on the display! Why is here not one single Android Auto compass available???
That would be a great feature addition to be honest.

Hi. So, you'll first need to plan your route and then in the app go to Routes>Settings>Avoid Freeways and toggle on the option. Then go back using the arrow at the top left and now your route will change to take minor roads instead. Hope that helps!

It's like Waze wants you to literally go out to a tree that fell across the road and sit on it before you should report it
In theory the location at which you press the button should be logged but another user was wondering the same thing. I'll have to test it.
Hi there. Is it that you want to change destination during a journey? Or add additional stops?
@@HowToDoItTech You mean from the Android Auto screen? I’ll go check my settings because I’m sure that’s what I tried. Cheers, appreciate it!!
Yep. And also just on your phone. Providing Waze is open, Google Assistant will use it. Otherwise it'll launch Google Maps
Do you need an account if you want to see everything others put in?
Yep, you should be able to see all the content with a guest account.

Yes there is! Google Maps will warn you of Low Emission Zone when you plan your route.
@@HowToDoItTech thank you. I'll check it out.
Good morning @erick23d. So, as a starting point in my video I cover off almost exactly what you need. However, you'll want to replace my Sony TV and Google TV with your LG TV and Apple TV.
ruclips.net/video/OAgqTO6pNXw/видео.htmlsi=JwH3CgPIZgILwG7h
You will add your set-top box by selecting Add Device>Bluetooth or Infrared (depending on how your original remote works with it)>Search the brand name and select the model of the set-top box.
In the Bluetooth connection on your phone with your car, set the audio to include calls and audio. Hope that helps!
I like Waze but the power consumption on my phone is too much.
Does it have settings to verbalise what lane to get in in, it find it doesnt give you wnough time before you have to take nect steps so often find in the wrong lane, I also find it doesn't give you enough time to find out (verbally) if any1 know of any sat nav that gives this would be great
Sadly, no. The audio prompts are all 'pre-baked' with no options to change their cadence.
Can you use voice to input a destination?
Yes you can! In the search bar, just tap the microphone
How can you turn WAZE off from CarPlay so you are not using the battery?
Unfortunately I don't have CarPlay to be able to test this, but if you want to completely disconnect Waze on your phone, you will need to uninstall the app on CarPlay. However, if you're only looking to temporarily disconnect the app from CarPlay, I found this video about putting the app into Sleep Mode:

So, you should have a little white circle on your map that is your compass. If it's not there yet: Go to Settings > Map Display > scroll to Quick Access and then toggle on the compass
How do you use the halfway point between 2 locations?
Sadly there's no way to calculate a point equidistant from the start to the finish points using the app
Brilliant app!!! Please add more celebrity voices.
I'd love Waze to do more voices too!
