I had to plug in my headphones, because the other person was hearing too much feedback. Once plugged in, the recorder captured my audio, but not that of the other person. How do you fix that?
That's a bit complicated. There are two ways: the easy way is to get a screen recorder (like Screencast-o-matic.) Then go through the configuration to allow it access to your computer screen, sound, etc. Then use the screen recorder when you are on Zoom. The other way is to add a piece of software that "hear your computer." Soundflower can do this on a Mac. I haven't tried it, but others have said it works. I have tried the first way because I use a Screenrecorder a lot (to make videos about using software.) I use ScreenFlow on my Mac. Another way might be to use a USB sound card (if your Mac doesn't have a headset jack) to add another mic so that Zoom is using one mic and Quicktime is using another mic. Maybe get a little lavalier and set it directly on the speaker so you wouldn't have to blast the volume. On my work Mac I can't install other software. If you can then you have other options. Zoom will be adding free live captions by the end of 2021. You can request early access (but I think it's reserved for people catering to audiences that need this service.) I believe that live captions can be saved as transcripts. You can also go to Rev.com and buy the service for $20 per month. Or if you only need a few short videos, you can buy "rough drafts" on Rev.com. You'd upload the recorded Zoom call to Rev.com and pay by the minute. Finally, you could upload the videos to RUclips and you'd get free captions. You can download those as a txt file after the video is uploaded (you can set it as unlisted or private so no one sees it.) I hope that helps!

Thanks, will do!
im trying to record a zoom call i will take on my phone, ideally i want the audio only, i can screenrecord the video on my phone. do u think if i connect my mac to my iphone , open quicktime hit audio record -connected to my iphone it will work?... thank u :(
In the quick player screen recording panel...... right next to the Record button is an arrow..... press that arrow and you can choose a mic to record. i had the same issue... Goodluck.
I'm afraid this just didn't work for me. I enabled my microphone and the sound was still so muffled I couldn't tell what was being said. The most important part for me is sound so I can review later for notes.
Check out Soundflower. It should help you out (but I don't have it on my Mac to demo.)
@@BrightonsReviewsandMore Thanks! I looked at it, but was a bit weary based on it's 'some assembly required' look, to it. I'm a luddite when it comes to software, and Soundflower doesn't have the 'off the shelf,' no-brainer look. Thanks, though.
there's no audio with that option
Before you click the record button, go to options first. Choose the "Macbook pro microphone" instead of "None".
I saw some comments mentioning a third-party app to record the sounds as well (since the Macbook pro microphone" option even record not only the screen audio but also the background noise I make lol)
Thanks Trang. That's exactly right! It's not a perfect solution, but it works. I've tried 3rd party options and they are complicated. Except Screenflow. That makes it easy, but not cheap.
Do you have any hacks for getting free transcripts from a Zoom or Quicktime? In order to enable Zoom transcripts, you have to buy a Business account which is $2,000/year. I'm trying to find a workaround - I am a one person shop, so the Zoom Business account doesn't make sense. Thanks!
You could use ms word 365 and select dictate -> transcribe from the audio file you have
You can use the shortcut SHFT + CMD + 5
Thanks for sharing this tip. I noticed it has a similar sound recording problem, but you can set it to record using the internal microphone and it will work like Quicktime.
@@BrightonsReviewsandMore But it doesn't record audio .
Do you need a Mac to record on zoom ? I have a goolgle chrome book and the record button doesn’t show up
Interesting. Maybe recording is turned off in your Zoom account? You could try using Screencast-o-matic which is web based software for recording.
Hey! does this notify the zoom host?
Nope
DOES NOT RECORD SOUND
Audio does not record. maybe zoom has some security feature
It's a Quicktime thing. It can record what comes out your speakers and into your microphone. Of you can install SoundCloud.
Hi so I watched your video on how to fix the file format but I was wondering on how to do it on an hp computer
The file format video should be the same for an HP computer. I can't think of anything different.
Hi Bri, where will I find the recorded video on my computer?
Quicktime will give you a chance to save it anywhere you'd like.
Doesn't record sound :( .....
I tried... I don't get the audio...
What Quicktime is recording is anything your microphone hears. So it records you, and anything coming out of your speakers, and any background noise.
How can i do this on a windows or iPhone? Just screen record it?
Thanks bro!!!!!
How to record audio as well ?
You need to play sound thru your speakers and record it thru your microphone.
no audio
why when i record there is no sound?
Sorry - you need to play the sound through your speakers and record with your microphone (while being quiet.) There's not an easy way around this (there are a few somewhat complicated ways...)
Lol every time I join a zoom meeting or make one. If I exit the zoom app on iOS on the top bar when it says time, date and battery I see a red line and it’s says “Zoom recording” Even when I’m not recording it says that? What does that mean? Can anyone help if they have the same issue? Are they secretly recording information!!!?
@@amna6016 Lol then how is that possible how does that happen?
...and up to what length can I record?
I think it's only limited by how much hard drive space you have - a full screen recording can be lots of MegaBytes!
How can you record the sound?
you need to have your sound and microphone turned on to record the audio. Or you can use a screen recording software like screencast-o-matic
Or add Soundflower to your mac
@@BrightonsReviewsandMore can you do a video on using sound flower?
Does it work even if the host mutes us
It should - as long as the sound is coming out your speakers and into your computer's microphone.
@@BrightonsReviewsandMore thanks
Any other way to record the system audio ?
You can install Sound Flower for Macs. I don't know the PC equivalent.
In the quick player screen recording panel, right next to Record button is an arrow, press that arrow and you can choose a mic to record. I had the same issue... Goodluck.
I can’t see the button for some reason
Quicktime likes to "hide" by only showing up in the menu bar. And if you have too many things in the menu bar on the right, then it hides the stop button. Not a perfect solution, but it's free.
Thank you!!
thanks a lot
You’re welcome
Thank you so much.
You're welcome!
No audio dude
Yeah- you need to have your sound and microphone turned on to record the audio.
@@BrightonsReviewsandMore Thank you
Thank
Thank you dude , much appreciated
hello, is there anything like this real player that I can use on my windows 10 PC? and the Sound Flower thing for PC version as well thanks,
I would use OBS, you can record a specific window or the entire screen
I use this to record prototyped interactions and then convert to .gifs for the web.
Great idea!
Omg.. I should have known this before my i had done my job inrerview :)
I hope you got the job!
@@BrightonsReviewsandMore yeah! Thanks a lot, and I got it!
