    *Note: You must have headphones plugged in to see External Headphones in the list, or if you don't have headphones choose MacBook Speakers (see **5:44**). If you don't see the audio icon at the top (🔊 or 🎧), click the icon that looks like two toggle switches, then click Sound.* Or watch this find how to add the audio icon to the menu bar: ruclips.net/video/3Jl69TLfnec/видео.html
    *Multiple people have asked about mixing a mic into the recording-for that, you may want to check out OBS Studio instead of Quicktime, so you can mix the audio levels together easier.*
    Links to BlackHole and Presentation Assistant are in the description + links to gear (camera, mic, lights, etc)

      I am confused. So for the "Headphones (For Recording)" audio device I am creating, what if I don't have headphones plugged in. Do I also make sure "MacBook Pro Speakers" are checked? Or is it one or the other?

    • @jaymayor
      @jaymayor  7 месяцев назад +1

      @@kodepot7521 You can follow the exact steps as using headphones but with any other device, such as MacBook Pro Speakers. So the Multi-Output Device would be called "Speakers (For Recording)" with MacBook Pro Speakers checked first, then BlackHole 2ch checked second. See 5:45 in the video, I covered this briefly. Hope that helps.

    Its best just to create a Multioutput Device, so there is no need to change the Sound at all (speaker or headphones). You'll only need to change the actual computer sound settings, and select the Output as a Multioutput and the Input as a Blackhole 2ch.

    Thank you, thank you, thank you! I can finally screen-record. It took me a while to figure it out because my headphones kept showing up as built-in output, not External Headphones. After much googling, I discovered that "the operating system generally considers the headphone jack to be part of the computer's integrated audio system, meaning it's simply another output option from the 'built-in' audio hardware, not a separate device". So I went ahead and tried screen recording, and it worked! 🙏

    I like the transitions and banners, you do it on davici resolve? where can I do something like that?

    • @jaymayor
      @jaymayor  2 года назад +2

      Hey there! For my videos I’m using FCPX. The main transitions I use are wipe, spin, and cross dissolve, and these are all basic out of the box transitions that most software should support, nothing fancy. For the banners/titles, I’m using a simple callouts template from Envato Elements. I’ve pre-configured a bunch of these and put them in a library so I can easily copy/paste them into my videos. To do this yourself, find a callouts/titles template for your editing software and then pre-make a bunch of them so you can just grab and go. Hope this helps.

However, it's hard to get a good mix of volumes if you're trying to add in your mic like that. So you might want to try something designed more for mixing multiple inputs, like OBS Studio. That should get the mic mixing part up and running easily. Hope that helps

    Will this work on a 2015 MacBook Pro? I've followed the instructions and can't get it to work.

    Just an FYI here...My Norton 360 Security software (i.e. antivirus) popped up a "Danger" warning page, when I tried to visit the existential.audio/blackhole page. So, I'll have to find another way to re-route the audio into QuickTime. Thanks for your video.

    Thanks Jay, how do I record ONLY the audio and video from the screen and not my audio? For example we record video call interviews and when recording via QuickTime and the steps you mentioned, it still records sound from my end (annoying background noises included). We want JUST the video/audio from the screen recording video call.., Any tips?

    Great video. Thanks for posting. Do the external headphones have to have a microphone attached?

      Two ways: 1) In the "Headphones (For Recording)" multi-output device step (after step 12 in the video), you can add your mic between External Headphones and Blackhole 2ch. That will merge them together, but you'll need to play around with the volumes to get everything just right. 2) Or, you can pull out bigger guns and use software like OBS Studio which gives you a mixer board for both Headphones (For Recording) and your mic, that might be a little easier.

    Thank you very much, I tried several instructions with BH + OBS before and it never worked on Pro 16, your guide finally helped me.
