You answered one of my questions about how a condenser microphone works. As it turns out, I work in a computer and electronics store so perhaps I can get some of the items that I don’t already have for home recording. I’ve also downloaded software such as ProTools and Ableton yet it’s hard to figure out how to use them. Thanks for doing this. I’ll be checking out more of your videos.
just some advice: ableton is more directed to beginners rather than pro tools. pro tools is also more meant for live instrument recording rather than heavy focus on synths and plugins like ableton or fl studio is. i have a blue spark SL condenser mic and it works amazing for the price, would 100% recommend to beginners. i also would say to get closed back studio headphones if you're recording vocals as u dont want the microphone picking up the sounds from the headphones. good luck!
@@prodbynessuno Thanks for your input on ProTools and Ableton. I honestly didn’t know what the differences were. Yes, I’m very much at a novice level when it comes to recording music and I’ve been seeking advice for the best and hopefully not too expensive software for recording my own music. Thanks again.
Sheeesh man thank you! I had no idea how to plug everything in which sounds funny but it’s my first time with all this equipment but thank you for suggesting different options and price ranges :)
Thanks for this great break down Edward - I'm an absolute beginner and this helps a lot. One thing I'm interested in is linking audio with video - do any of the DAWS you suggested have video capability or can you recommend a program that will run the finished audio with video.
you need a video editing software where then you add the wav file you saved with the DAW and the video and sync them, I just purchased Movavi Video Editor 23, as the free ones I found weren't very good
In case your DAW doesnt support video directly, you can get quality home video editing software for free - Davinci Resolve has a free edition, or you can buy the full version with a lifetime perpetual license for $300. ( I'm personally not a fan of subscription software like Adobe )
I am always watching to your videos. I like the way you teach. I liked you since I started to question myself about microphone. I got an answer from your video which is "mistakes that producers do" in a video you said "no more blaming about microphone. I am from Tanzania 🇹🇿. Learning music and sound production. I really like your teachings.
Concerning your DAW you overlooked one aspect, if I may say so. Some entry level DAWs don't offer the possibility to record audio tracks, so when you're a singer songwriter (and you want to record your singing or playing guitar) that may be a problem.
Also FL studio as far as I'm aware is the only DAW that offers lifetime updates. You bought it once, you will never need to buy any updated versions!!!
Is amazon the best place online you recommend purchasing from, if you were to do a bundle purchase? Or would it make sense to use a company like guitar center or sweetwater etc .. curious on your thoughts and I definitely appreciate this video!!
Thank you Edward. That was one of the most informative videos I have watched on setting up a home studio, and I have watched a few! Yours is very comprehensive and easy to follow, with great guidance on the equipment needed, as well as dealing with acoustic treatment, something missing from most of the videos I have watched. Excellent work Bro.
Un vídeo realmente bueno, ilustrativo y detallado. Sobre todo para aquellos que estamos comenzando en el mundo de la producción musical, ya sea profesionalmente o como en mi caso simplemente aficionado. Gracias. Me suscribo a tu canal. Saludos desde España.
One tip I would suggest, is to store all your sound samples on a separate hard drive, so when you use your DAW, the CPU is not trying to both play and record …ie read and write at basically the same time, better in my opinion to separate the sound files and not store everything on your HD of your computer…..seems to work for me, using Logic and it’s 60GB or so sound samples…

Really good video. Very informative and I enjoyed it so much. I always say whatever level you ae at you can never stop learning and picking up good ideas from someone. Thank you.
Thank you for watching!! 🙏🏻
Thanks, and congratulations on the explanation of the music production setup.
I want to study about that but I need the helpful way to do that
If you don't have a budget still don't buy a Mac unless you want to buy all of the add-ons to make it compatible with everything else
I really like when you write it in Hindi. It will help us when doing searches in hindi. Dhanyavaad🙏
i needed this so bad
dope content
Thanks for watching!! 🙏🏻
the m2 is so smoothhh. great vid!
This video is so useful to me... Thank you so much... 😊❤️🔥
Lekker man lekker!
Great video, I would add a Pop filter, for the microphone. Controlling plosives and sibilance on the source can help a lot.
That’s very true 👌🏻
WHAT VERSION OF PRO TOOLS SOFTWARE DO YOU HAVE?
Sheeesh man thank you! I had no idea how to plug everything in which sounds funny but it’s my first time with all this equipment but thank you for suggesting different options and price ranges :)
Thanks for this great break down Edward - I'm an absolute beginner and this helps a lot.
One thing I'm interested in is linking audio with video - do any of the DAWS you suggested have video capability or can you recommend a program that will run the finished audio with video.
Can make videos on fl studio kinda
What's DAWs bro? You mean the software like cubase right?
you need a video editing software where then you add the wav file you saved with the DAW and the video and sync them, I just purchased Movavi Video Editor 23, as the free ones I found weren't very good
@@littlewarcovers - That's great info thx...Merry Xmas & happy new year 😃
In case your DAW doesnt support video directly, you can get quality home video editing software for free - Davinci Resolve has a free edition, or you can buy the full version with a lifetime perpetual license for $300. ( I'm personally not a fan of subscription software like Adobe )
nice video about For those who are building home Studio .Appreciate your attempt .
This was very detailed and informative. Definitely got a good idea of what to look for 🤘🏻
Glad it was helpful!
Very good video sir! 👍🏾
You're videos are awesome.....love from India ❤❤❤
Thank you Paul!!
@@EdwardSmithMusic My name is Tony Smith I am your number one fans
I am always watching to your videos. I like the way you teach. I liked you since I started to question myself about microphone. I got an answer from your video which is "mistakes that producers do" in a video you said "no more blaming about microphone.
I am from Tanzania 🇹🇿. Learning music and sound production. I really like your teachings.
Thank you so much for watching and supporting the channel!
Concerning your DAW you overlooked one aspect, if I may say so. Some entry level DAWs don't offer the possibility to record audio tracks, so when you're a singer songwriter (and you want to record your singing or playing guitar) that may be a problem.
For beginners I’d say studio one prime or 5 (I forgot which is free) or garage band for Mac users
Also FL studio as far as I'm aware is the only DAW that offers lifetime updates. You bought it once, you will never need to buy any updated versions!!!
Reaper, it’s free
That was practical and concise, I already have ideas on what my music setup/studio is going to be because of the video. Thank you for this.
Glad it was helpful!
Is amazon the best place online you recommend purchasing from, if you were to do a bundle purchase? Or would it make sense to use a company like guitar center or sweetwater etc .. curious on your thoughts and I definitely appreciate this video!!
I'm a huge fan of Sweetwater because they have more variety. I love their page focused on the newest studio gear releases - imp.i114863.net/Gjy32V
Keep up the good work!!
Thanks!! 🙏🏻
Thank you so much for sharing your ideas...Watching all the way from Vanuatu 😃😁👍🔥🔥🇻🇺🇻🇺🇻🇺
Un vídeo realmente bueno, ilustrativo y detallado. Sobre todo para aquellos que estamos comenzando en el mundo de la producción musical, ya sea profesionalmente o como en mi caso simplemente aficionado. Gracias. Me suscribo a tu canal. Saludos desde España.
Could you make a video explaining how to use said items to make a song?
That would be great🥺🥺
One tip I would suggest, is to store all your sound samples on a separate hard drive, so when you use your DAW, the CPU is not trying to both play and record …ie read and write at basically the same time, better in my opinion to separate the sound files and not store everything on your HD of your computer…..seems to work for me, using Logic and it’s 60GB or so sound samples…
8:36 wow, a new video style of yours:>> I love it! Kind of like a vlog type style, & it's actually cool tbh🔥
Thanks 🙏🏻
✨🎶excellent info… thank you for sharing. *QUESTION: what is that gray device you plugged the midi into that connects to the laptop? 🎶✨
