If you rest your arms on the desk, there will be some shake. However, for light taps or placing things down, it's barely noticeable, and the camera stabilizes after a few seconds. In short, while it's hard to completely eliminate the shake without mounting the camera separately, this setup works pretty well overall.

Hey Ali! Thanks for stopping by! Yes, the camera does wobble a bit if I move while sitting at my desk. For your setup, I’d recommend mounting the camera off the table for a more stable shot.
@@NatesFilmTutorialsgreat video! I love this and was going to do this same thing but the wobble was too much for me since I slide products and talk with my hands too much. the only thing i could possibly suggest would be to convert the dual knob post holder into a screw spindle style for ease of use with arthritis. think converting a dual handle vice into a single handle. Such an amazing time to be around.
You may consider switching over to the El Gato Key Light, which comes with a desk mount, to avoid the need for a Softbox Mini. It's smaller, lighter and bright enough for your use case. Additional unnecessary set-up would be to add the Atem Mini Pro recorded directly to SSD. You'd be limited to 1080p, but you could switch to the overhead or front camera as desired and potentially have it recorded in a single take. Especially if you use something like a Parrot teleprompter clipped onto the front of your lens and using your cellphone to scroll your script or bullet points.

I’d like to know who you usual go about things for yours; do you use a script? If so do you try to memorize it or do you use some kind of teleprompter? I'm absolutely in love with this setup. I have seen others, but this is amazing. Quick question, if you are willing to reply: when you are doing things on the desk, like showcasing products or doing unboxings, doesn't it make the camera shake?
Thanks for the kind words! In the setup I used in this video, there’s minimal shake. However, if you lean against it, it can be a bit shaky. For unboxings, though, it works great, and the rig settles within a couple of seconds.

Awesome set up! Question about the primary camera (Sony ZVE10) and the battery solution. I'm worried about the battery adapter bricking the camera, saw some reviews on the product. Does that worry you? Also, have you had overheating issues when recording? I use this camera for my RUclips channel and would love to not fight battery life. Thanks!
I haven't had any issues with the battery adapter for the ZV-E10 or the ii. As for overheating, I’ve noticed that the camera tends to overheat when shooting in 4K at 60fps, but I’ve had no problems when recording in regular 4K. It’s great to hear you’re using this camera for your RUclips channel; it’s a solid choice! If you’re mostly shooting in 4K, you should be good to go without worrying too much about battery life. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Thank you so much! Downsizing can definitely be a challenge, but it’s great to hear you’re still feeling inspired! Even with limited space, there are always creative ways to set up an efficient workspace.

Got a cheap adjustable table but sadly it's black carbon fiber so would use a white A2/3 cutting mat. Your build is brilliant to say the least and would help plenty to setup their own.

I have been waiting for a video like this. I have a really small room and need this tiny setup. I shoot mainly with the Sony ZVE1 as my main camera. Can you recommend a lens with a 1.4 aperture for talking head stuff? I have a 17-28 2.8 lens but really like how your depth of field looks.
This step up is perfect for tiny rooms! I just picked up the ZV-E1 a few days ago and thoroughly impressed. Might have to make a video on it! As far as lens recommendations, most of this video was shot with the A7siii and Tamron 20-40mm. So depth of field is fairly similar to your kit. If you want more I like the Viltrox 24mm 1.8, its has some unique image quality quirks, kinda like a vintage lens haha. If you want a cleaner look I’d look into the Sony 20mm 1.8 or 24mm 1.4!

The version ZVE10 v1 doesn't need a dummy battery - I power it from the usb. I doubt v2 needs it either. 🙂
That’s true! However charging through the usb does cause overheating issues. The dummy battery is a smarter way to go for long recording sessions.
i just downsized to a one bedroom and lost my whole office. even if i still had a second bedroom I'd still wanna do this. so EPIC thanks for sharing
Thank you so much! Downsizing can definitely be a challenge, but it’s great to hear you’re still feeling inspired! Even with limited space, there are always creative ways to set up an efficient workspace.
Great video my man! I really like the look and sound of your setup - keep it up!
Appreciate it! Are you looking to build one?
@@NatesFilmTutorials I’m always looking for info. I run a CNC channel so it’s hard to always get the lighting and sound right since I’m shooting in a tiny workshop. I just use a busted up iPhone - I’m going to watch your camera video tomorrow
@SJSSawdust Ah that makes sense! Have you seen the video from Bob “I Like To Make Stuff” where he built a rig without the need to sue a tripod? I would love to have some sort of version of that.
You could also see how Adam Savage uses his phone right to film his videos. Truly impressive what you can do!
@@NatesFilmTutorials Adam does a great job. Thanks for the videos. I subbed
Damn Nate, you just fixed all of my problems bruh - you should have completed the full set by giving some examples of camera & lighting to buy, what a GOAT 😂
Super helpful!
Thanks Peter! Are you looking to make on yourself?
Thank you for this amazing content ✌
Amazing video! Will keep it as a reference to improve my setup before I start!
Glad it was helpful! Would love to see how you change it up!
@@NatesFilmTutorials Thanks! I have a very tight place and maybe would go for a standalone stand with both cameras + the light is kinda huge but got the space for 120cm diffuser though. Trying to do a 50:50 screen split with half of the background being curtains and the other half a pegboard.
Got a cheap adjustable table but sadly it's black carbon fiber so would use a white A2/3 cutting mat. Your build is brilliant to say the least and would help plenty to setup their own.
@Bo_Hazem thanks for sharing! This build took me a while to eventually figure out, and plenty of Amazon returns. It takes time, but once it’s dialed in, it’s a wonderful feeling!
@@NatesFilmTutorials Also perfect choice of cameras! Personally I'll have the main be A7SIII with Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 and the top camera be A7Rv with Tamron 17-28mm f2.8. Might get the 24mm f1.4 GM for astrophotography + studio.
Thanks for nice chat!
This is Amazing! I wanna setup like this 😍
Appreciate it! Definitely let me know if you build one, I’d love to see it!
This was a great video, thank you it's very helpful and makes a lot of sense. I also wonder about your background. What is the light shining on your wall? Looks really cool Thank you!
Appreciate it! I have an amaran 200x geni.us/imnsu with the amaran spotlight geni.us/4u2s to give it a bit of texture on the back wall.
love the set-up thanks for sharing with us
Thanks! Are you looking to make one yourself?
@@NatesFilmTutorials eventually yes, I live in a tiny home at the moment so space is limited however I do want a studio so when that happens: I will get a dope desk
Impressive! Try doing that such set up..shout out to
Awesome! Let me know if you make one!
NICE JOB BRO
Thank you for the awesome video!🥰
Appreciate the kind words!
Congrats 🎉
Thank you!
Great - just spend 350 USD on arms and mats. Cheers for the video Nate - Currently optimising and customising an Ikea workbench with drawers as a tiny studio setup. Its turning out to become my Frankestein! May or may not be turned into a video at some point, he he. Have a good one!
Love it! Can't wait to see your set up!
Nice. Very nice. I have a similar set up, BUT the table can't move and the stand/arm I had for the camera was too weak.
Thanks Joeri! Love it! Hopefully these accessories are an upgrade for you! What do you use to capture audio?
@@NatesFilmTutorials For my original channel, I just used a RØDE VideoMic Pro+ on a long arm outside the shot, but with this channel, I’m playing around with either those Wireless Go thingies with a lav or a PodMic through a deck.
@JoeriCreates I dig it!
@@NatesFilmTutorials Me too. 🙂
I just found your channel and subscribed! This video is incredibly informative and helpful, thank you so much! 🙏
What is the long light you used in the background?
Thank you! That is the Amaran t4c! geni.us/AExnc9
Came up on my feed and i love it 😂🎉
🙌 Appreciate the kind words! Are you looking to make one yourself?
Wow, that is really great and affordable🙂
brilliant!
Can you do this with multiple osmo dji 3 cameras?
I am saving this video so i can copy this setup when my channel take off 🎉
🔥
@@NatesFilmTutorials so your talking head stuff was shot with the 20-40 Tamron?
That might actually be the Viltrox.
@@NatesFilmTutorials ok cool looks fantastic
nice! is your blue background wallpaper or paint? and what did you use to get the nice light pattern projected on the wall?
Thank you! It is a dark blue color, and then I have an amaran 200x geni.us/imnsu with the amaran spotlight geni.us/4u2s to give it a bit of texture on the back wall.
