In this video you'll learn how to screen record while simultaneously recording the internal audio from your computer. I'll then show you how to set up your DAW to screen record while also recording the audio playback from your DAW. - Видеоклипы
How do we record in stereo? My only records in mono
Setup will be the same, but when you select your microphone from the options menu in Quicktime (3:51) select "BlackHole 16ch" instead of "Quicktime Player Input."
@@PatrickBreenMusic it worked!!! Thanks for taking the time to reply. However, I did notice that when you switch the settings to blackhole it will not be able capture your mic. So you have to have to choose between recording stereo or recording mono w voice
@@homestudioacademy Thank you because this answered my question although I'm kinda of disappointed that you can't record in stereo :(
@@lucasstonehouse yeah I know right! Hopefully there will be a work around in the future
the stereo fix didn't work for me, I was still getting mono. Anyone else have this issue?
I came from the Think Media tutorial because I needed that last extra step. This is the tutorial of all tutorials!!! Thank you
Glad to help bro 🙌🙌
Finally someone who made it comprehensive! Thank you Patrick
Glad this was helpful!
THANK YOU SO MUCH I'VE WATCHED SO MANY VIDEOS OVER THE PAST 12 MONTHS AND THIS IS THE FIRST ONE TO ACTUALLY HELP ME!
liked and subscribed as a thank you
Regarding the simultaneous mic recording, you can actually record your voice as well. Just add it as an input in the "Quicktime Input" area. Whatever your microphone is plugged into should come up there. You won't be able to do audio plugins on your voice that I'm aware of, but it sounds good without them! Thanks for a great video!
Yes this definitely works, I personally just like having two separate audio files. But if you're cool with everything baked into the screen recording then the method you suggested is definitely a solid one! Cheers!
@@PatrickBreenMusic Yes separate the voice recording makes it more effectives when it comes to post-production! btw thanks for sharing this great tutorial.
Finally a tutorial that's straight to the point. Thank You
Lifesaver! I really appreciated this! I've been yanking my brains (for about 2 hours straight) on how to capture audio from Protools into screenrecording and this just ticked all boxes for me!
Thank you brothah!
THIS ACTUALLY WORKED. Bless you. Trying to navigate this on my own was incredibly frustrating so THANK YOU.
This worked really well, thanks Patrick! It's gonna make the content creation workflow so much easier.

Thank You bro
Amazing, thank you so much!
Thank you bro!
Thank you so much for the knowledge! I was recording my first “How I made the beat video” and noticed the only audio was me speaking.
thanks so much
Hey, hope you can help with this but I am a blind Mac user and producer and was wondering when you set up the black hole stuff, will I be able to still hear my talking software which reads what's on the screen to me? As I want to do tutorials for the blind by recording my screen, Logic pro and my screen recording software as well as hearing it as that's what I need as I have no site.
Appreciate you bro
Oh Jeses. Thank you. That saved me so much time
yoooooo thank you so much, Ive been trying to make how to videos for pro tools for year now but couldnt get the internal audio to record till now
hell yeah you're a legend breen machine! thanks for the vid
My pleasure my friend!
Thank you for this video fr
Thank you so much
Thanks, but the volume is too low in the recorded material. Any idea what could be the reason?
Thanks a lot!
Thank you.
When you played back the audio, would you be able to wear like airpods so you can hear it in realtime, but also so the microphone doesnt pick up audio from the monitors.
BIG HELP 💯🔥🔥
Whenever I do this and play it back in QuickTime the audio is in stereo. However, if I put the audio into a video editing software or into my DAW, it goes to surround and only comes out of the left. Have you run into this before?
I'm almost getting it :) Trying to do a DAW tutorial... I'll have my phone aimed at me for a PinP, but then I could use the phone video/audio? Or use a mic like you're doing, but then you've got to sync the two together in iMovie?
THANKS G
This saved my life.
Thank you!!
Great!! You are an inspiration for my channel!!
Very kind. Thanks my friend!
Been trying to get screen recording to work for two years. I gave up bro. It is what it is.
how does step 2 work in FL Studio ? the input and output are combined as one option. is there a way to change them separately ?
THANKS!!!
What about apple sound preferences, how output and input need to be setup
Hey man! all good but it only records in mono unfortunately. Anyone have a workaround?
Anyone know how I would do the Output & Input Devices for Propellerhead Reason? All I see is Audio Device no options for them individually
Is this possible on quicktime? I have tried other quick time tutorials and they don't work. Quicktime doesn't have an output device so is it possible? Pleas let me know.
Awesome. Had to do some troubleshooting tho. When I tried to save screen recordings to "other location" namely, a thumb drive, the audio wouldn't save. It does work however, when I save it to Desktop like you did.
How do you get voice memos to recognize your mic while getting logic to recognize a different interface simultaneously?
Thanks for the tutorial!
I need help... I selected my audio output that i used as always but when i select the multi output device. I can't hear anything
Hi Patrick great video! Can you elaborate on how you recorded your voice through your Shure SM7 with Voice Memo? Did you use the app on your actual desktop computer with a different interface? And then how did you sync it up to you video? Thanks for the time, awesome stuff.
FINALLY A GOOD TUTORIAL!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks bro
When I record with my microphone Rode Nt with Blackhole I can record in stereo (two channels) but when I instead record with my headset Hyper X cloud II it records in mono (one channel) so the voice can only be heard in a loudspeaker. What is the problem do you think?
Hi Patrick, when I do those setting but using Pro Tools I have this weird bit crushed sound, like weird robotic sound. Do you or anyone here have the same issue?
How do you setup the audio output on pro tools???
I tried doing this. However, the audio that I'm getting is mono. Everything that I pan to the right or to the left just sounds centered. How can I fix it? I use Logic Pro
Would this also work with OBS for live streaming?
Did this with my FireWire duet a few months back!
Do you know any way to record screen and audio while on a call in LANDR or Zoom? I've been trying for days but whenever I start a recording in Quicktime or OBS Studio, the audio comes out duplicated...
i like the idea of having seperate audio file for voice but when i record a voice memo is comes out mono on one left speaker, is there a fix to this?
Audio from Voice Memos is coming out in only the left channel. How can I make it so it's both?
hey mate finally a well explained tutorial. However, I'm running into a problem with the voice memo! When i playback my voice from my external Rode mic, the sound only comes out of the left speaker.... Any chance there is a work around so that i can playback on both speakers?
Is this still applicable with Mac OS Montery?
For some reason my voice memo app is only recording on the left channel, would you know how to fix this?
Thank you so much! Now is there a way of muting the speaker audio of the screen audio I am recording so I dont have to listen to it out of my speakers while its recording? PS. Your one bad duude! THANKS!
Allah senden razı olsun
i'm on a 2021 mac retina, and when i enable my new output (audiointerface+blackhole) on fl studio, it doesnt work at all. there's no sound coming from my speakers, let alone the screenrecording. how do i fix this?
I love this video man! Are you using the voice memos app on Mac while screen recording too?
I tried this step by step, and the audio wouldn't record. Double-checked everything. I'm using macOS Monterey 12.3.1 and Logic Pro.
Does anyone have any tips, or will this just not work? Should I be using OBS?
Let me know, thanks!
How does BlackHole do with latency in Logic?
Thanks a lot, I'm the "thumb up" No. 200
That helped me out here.
Cool! It's a good way. he earned it. But I have a problem. I can't separate the sound left and right. I have it in mono for a reason. Can you tell me why that is?
Sorry but mine qucik time don’t wanna show me this “multi” which I’ve made in “midi settings” what to do ?:(
Anyone knows how to get FL STUDIO Daw to pick up the audio
Hey everytime i start recording my fl starts cracking and being unreasonable. I don’t know how to fix this. I try to play with the latency and all but it doesn’t work
is this recording in mono?
Hey Patrick! Thank you, this is a really useful tutorial when it comes to getting all of this setup. However, I have two main issues.
1) Setting the Multi-output as my Main Playback Engine within Pro Tools, has removed all inputs from my I/O. Accordingly, I can't have my microphone recording my voice on an Aux track or something, to talk over the video I want to make.
2) More importantly, everything else seems to be working, except for the audio in the final video that QuickTime makes being in mono. For any kind of music or production tutorial, this will be a problem.
Do you, or anyone else in the comments have any pointers when it comes to fixing these issues? Especially the mono audio one. I could really use the help.
About your second question, I had the same problem and I didn't resolved it with QuickTime. I think that it record just in mono when you capture the screen. I resolved the problem using OBS with blackhole as Audio Output and works perfectly.
regarding number 2 did you find a way to do it, its the same for me?
figure 1 out?
yeah this tutorial doesn't work
