- A fun day of fishing for smallmouth bass on a beautiful stretch of river! Catching them out of the kayak and doing some wade fishing on this warm sunny day.

People today live in fear, e.g., Covid, war(s), bank closings, politics, etc. Sadly, many are either ignoring or not aware of the fact they don't fear the One they should fear the most-something that's evidenced by the upvotes for the profane and irreverent way you used God's name. I hope you consider this carefully.
30 seconds in and this is already one of my top 5 smallie videos. Out of all the rivers Matt fishes, this one's definitely my favorite!
This might be my favorite spot out of all the places I fish! I used to fish it a lot more but the launch I used to go from got closed off from people trashing it and now the long paddle is only doable on nice calm days. It helps keep the traffic low there though.

Today is 4/15/23 and I caught my first Smallmouth (17") of this year. I have been watching Matt's videos for the last 5 months to get me through the long Cleveland winter. I have river fished SM for 50 years and am happy to say Matt has taught me new tricks. His attention to detail, his organization and his video skills are inspirational. Keep at it and you will soon have 500,000 followers!
Matt is so good that I have a hard time watching any other RUclips guys. He sets a new standard.

This is my kind of small river smallmouth fishing! Looks so much like my home river, the very clear Rappahannock in Virginia. Also use the Tarpon 120 and 100 (for tighter maneuvering). But learned to love smallies growing up in Minnesota so always tune in to see this very efficient, calm fisherman! I enjoy the fishing and the MinnDak accent! 😊

This channel continually amazes me. I live in California, and there is nowhere within 500 miles of me with smallmouth fishing of this quality. Probably none within 1000 miles.

You've inspired me to get back into fishing. I moved from Bismarck to Fargo a long time ago, and was mad at the quality of fishing I left behind and just decided to give it up. Excited to see what I can get hooked into from shore this year, thanks for the inspiration!
The Red here in Fargo can be a lot of fun! Walleye in the spring and fall and channel cats all summer!

That stretch always feels a lot like my home waters, and I relate to most. I love the videos that have you paddling and wading because both are integral parts of river fishing to me.

This trip is like a good outing on my local stretch of water during the Spring and Summer. I commented below, but really appreciate this longer video to get me in the mood for warmer water! I've had days like this where I lost count in the 70+ fish range, of course not the quality of some of these but the largest in the 18" range and absolutely lost my thoughts of anything else! Thanks for sharing with us!!

Thanks for turning me on to the Nikko Craw, it's been very productive. Love your videos. I was fishing behind a friend, who is very competitive and even though we were floating through the same water I was picking up fish after he worked the area first. He wouldn't take any of the Nikko Craws I offered. He's a stubborn cuss!

Wow! That kind of toe to toe smallmouth bass tug of war was cool. And to think you do your own go pro video is extra awesome. I have to fish that river at the same time of year before I get to old to do it safely some time. With the clear water it was amazing you got so close to the fish. Your cast up steam approach pitching the jig and craw was artistry in motion.

I'm blessed with loving next to a river that has the best smallmouth fishing in my state. They run first to second week of May. I've come within an once or two of the state record several times. Maybe this year is my year. Great videos sir you have the best channel.

Ah yes...some summer footage...can't wait for this cold to stop clinging to my spring time. I'm so jealous of how beautiful and clean it is there Matt. Beauty we have, here in West Virginia but DuPont and a few other industries have done quite the number on the water in the Ohio and the Little Kanawha here...not to mention we are just downstream from the derailment that happened. Anyway. great video man...nice and long and lots of fish big and small.

7 weeks until the season opens for Smallies in my favorite fishing hole. This is how the fishing is there almost every year. I also love to get out and wade fish. Last year the water was still pretty cold Memorial weekend, so I waded in my dry suit.
