An amazing race by Katelyn. I was running on the treadmill watching the Millrose games. She is running so relaxed it's insane. She honestly never looks likes she's straining. Breaking the collegiate by 6 seconds, wow, and her own PR by 20 seconds, double wow. I remember watching her through high school, and many times announcers would say it isn't fair, she doesn't have any competition. The greats thrive with competition equal to or better than they are. Katelyn needs to keep on running in meets like this. The amount of gains she gets from these races is immense, racing against woman with more experience. Monson obviously helped push/guide her. We all knew we were witnessing greatness years ago. She continues to blow my mind, and who knows what her ceiling is. She's a professional in every sense of the word, and it's a privilege to be able to follow her career. I start thinking of great athletes like Sydney McLaughlin, and in the future hoping we'll be saying similar things about Katelyn.
I absolutely love to watch Katelyn Tuohy run!!! What an amazing ''stride'' she has for her size!....no upper stiffness or rigid movements whatsovever....I'm like ''wow''....what an incredible & beautiful thing to watch when she runs!
Congratulations great run! She is running and competing with the best and fastest women in the nation! (And loving it) They are pushing her so much. Great run by Monson !! She is a gun
Have to say Coach Henes is doing a perfect job of handling her. Katelyn while breaking records on the track is also obviously not neglecting her studies. Coaches get ridiculed when student athletes fail in the classroom. Which doesn't seem fair. But let's give credit to her coach for doing so well with this phenom. It can't be that easy.
There were two pacers, one for the American record for Monson and top pros then one for the NCAA record for Tuohy, so I did not even think about Tuohy getting a podium spot because she was paced to be in the second pack. That was an insane run!
Yeah Elly and Elise didn't hold on to the pace set for Alicia. Almost like they were not ready for that yet but felt obligated to give it a try. Katelyn stuck with her pacer and Whittni made a smart call by hanging back with them. 2nd race in a row where Katelyn and Whittni raced close together.
This is pretty awesome.....Its a pleasure watching Katelyn run....I love to see how easily/smooth she is running and looks to have her strategy down inside her head...knowing what she needs to do and when.
We are witnessing something so special, that is Katelyn Tuohy. Just 20 years old!! She passed the 2-time US champ as if she was just an average runner.
Something special would have already been waiting by 20. She won't be anything special lol. The real Olympians/special athletes would be pro already and be on the world stage, not collegiate.
Lately will be in the Olympics soon! Monson ran a incredible race but Katelyn has 2 more years of eligibility left and if she is running this well now what do you think she’ll be running like in a couple years! She is a phenomenal runner!🙌👏👍
Awesome run by Monson and Tuohy! The American and Collegiate record in one race....awesome! Such a joy to watch such running. It is going to be so exciting to follow Tuohy as her running career continues. Tuohy is not only graceful on the track...she exhibits real class by openly praising Monson like that (not that Monson doesn't deserve it).
Monson is like otherworldly or something. But Katelyn looked smooth and relaxed and congrats to her. I feel bad for Elly Henes though. I know she probably wanted to run faster.
after taking a closer look at this particular film here.. i still sometime can not help but wonder what lovely & mystereious critters we all are i mean
How about that Monson! I watched a lot of Katelyn's hs races and wondered how she would fare as the athletes became as strong as she was/is. What a runner!
Do you understand what the job of the commentator is.... Hopefully your remote has a mute button since you are so offended by a person doing their job.......
@@bigdogstreetperformance6761 A commentator should add to the moment or not say a thing. In 1980, as it was ending and the crowd was starting to go wild as it was being realized that the USA Hockey team was going to win the Gold medal, Al Michaels just quit talking completely, certainly over a minute and possibly over two. Nothing he could say would or could add to the moment. If a commentator has such a motor mouth that it becomes a constant stream of innocuous chatter then your mind is going to turn it off because it it annoying. The case here. I do often watch team competitions muted, for that reason. I just wish I didn't, especially for reasonably short(3-4 minute T&F events where the action speaks for itself.
When we see her in the first couple of seconds of this video she looks like an 8th grader who snuck into the meet, there's something about the shape of her face and way she holds herself that looks even younger than her 20 years. This makes the juxtaposition of her speed and 3rd place with the adult runners even more striking.
I watched this live and still can't figure out why the director missed Katelyn Touhy finished. Sure show the winner but when that's over go to Touhy, who quite obviously is the new big thing.
A plethora of good young runners. My own alma mater, Union Cath. HS in Scotch Plains, NJ, has produced Sydney McGlaughlin....that's a big advance from my days of trying to run freshman track, & tripping over a guy in front of me who paused to lean over to tie his shoes. That showed me that my athletic prowess would not be in running.
Why is the woman holding the tape at the end a) in lane 2, and not on the inside of the track and b) why doesn't she move off the track after Monson finishes? Granted, that's not my main takeaway - great runs by KT, Monson and Henes too. It's going to be great following Touhy over the coming years!
It made sense for the tape holder to be in lane 2 for the first place runner to cross, because there were still other runner who had been lapped and were using lane 1. As for why she didn't immediately get off the track without impeding any other runners after Monson broke the tape...your guess is as good as mine.
Kinda funny that the cameraman was tracking Tuohy early on while the commentators were discussing Monson et al in the lead pack - as they should. Another week another record for Katelyn, is this going to be her summer? re-writing at least the local track record every week?
we wake up every morning and we are given this whole world set at our feet.... it's up to each & every one of us to place our best foot forward towards the greatest good to create that world given to us into something beautiful & kind i meant to say... in fact, i am simply delighted.... and to be perfectly honest with all my fellow cross-country, track & field fans... is... mother nature sure don't cut any corners when she paints a prettyl little old evenin' like this baby... i'm sippin my coffee & watching 3 races on 3 screens while the doggies run wild out ther e to that little old crick i mean
finishes third vs olympians ! she's 20 years old!
third ncaa record in 2 weeks!
ncaa indoor 1500m record
ncaa mile record
ncaa 3000m record
absolutely insane
She's ON FIRE!!!
Well done Katelyn!!!
Hi
Hello
What about Monson running an American record?!? Congratulations to both Tuohy and Monson!!!!
Well done monsoon for winning the actual race! 😂
Katelyn continues to improve and impress! 2023 is going to be an amazing year for her!

Sydney and Katelyn are my favorites. But running in itself is such a great sport right now. Nuguse is running crazy good.
Yes indeed!
Amen!
She's just going to keep on keeping on. A second here, two more there, who knows how fast she will be?

The beautiful Tuohy, i hope that oneday she'll become Olympic champ, big love from Morocco
Tuohy is excellent. Great form, powerful runner. Love to watch her race
Tuohy will be scary when she turns pro and starts training like one. Monson, Morgan, Henes, & Cranny didn't run as fast as Tuohy in college.
Thank you for posting the entire race on youtube. I saw the race the old fashioned way, on NBC.
That's pretty much 19 seconds better then her recorded previous best 8:54.17 to 8:35.20 The young lady is MAKING STRIDES quickly!!!!
And she looks actually feminine unlike many of the international pros.
Katelyn.. You are inspiring me to run. I’m 65!
I'm 73 and I still run. Every night about midnight I get up and run to the bathroom! 😂
Katelyn you are inspiring me to run and I am dead

Katelyn is pretty amazing and a pretty cool customer. Fun to follow.
Wow ! Stunning time from Katelyn !! Set off at the right pace- strong, but not suicidal- and just got stronger !

You rock Katelyn Touhy. Keep up the good work girl .
So awesome to see Katelyn rise to the occasion of excellence and run a brilliant race getting her third NCAA Record , simply outstanding indeed.
Results Monson 1st 8:25 Morgan 2nd 8:30 Tuohy 3rd 8:35
8:25:70 was Schweizer's record. Monson wasnt kidding when she said she clipped it by a couple tenths. She set the new record at 8:25:05

Whittni did so much of the work to close the gap and move through the field and Katlyn benefited by following her through.
