I started watching Katelyn on You Tube when she was in high school and knew she was something special back then. I just didn't realize how special. An utterly amazing athlete. I am fortunate to have been able to follow her journey which I am certain will end up with her being number 1 in the world.

I did a google search as you suggested and apart from being a good runner there was nothing to suggest she exemplifies all of the best attributes of humanity and is as close to perfect as you can get as Nobottee said. Maybe you can do some googling and provide proof of her godlike status.

The other three NC State Runners did a great job also. They stayed in fairly close to the leader each lap, this enabled Katelyn Tuohy to do her thing with relative ease when she got hold of the baton.
I absolutely love to watch Katelyn Tuohy run....she is so smooth, and makes it look so easy!!! Which we all know it is not!!!....what a pleasure to watch these athletes do their thing!!!
Tuohy looks super fit. All those injuries are behind her now and it shows. She'll dominate the NCAA outdoor season too and most likely really improve her times this spring. She might be ready to challenge the senior women for the world team this year.
Watching Touhy and the Wolf Pack is like looking at a van Gough painting. You can get lost just looking. You can't help but feel the passion, the technique, and become enveloped in the composition. Truly a thing of beauty to watch. Congratulations ladies!
Even without the flat track conversion, this is probably the fastest DMR 1600m anchor leg in NCAA history. When pro teams set the WR, the anchor legs were all in the 4:27 range. This converts to 4:24.
If you watch closely, Coach Henes was likely telling her to take her time in the initial part of her leg. After she caught up, to just coast and save up some effort for a few laps. As the pace slowed after 800m she was released to overtake and continue her negative splits which is part of her training. The goal likely is to be able to run the last 1000 negative split laps in 1500, 3000 or 5000 m however fast or slow the initial part of the race is to compete at the global professional level
Her team loves her because she cares, and because she is tough as nails, and has the killer instinct. In the years since she was an eighth grade forest sprite, she has metamorphosed into part she-wolf and part cheetah.
What a great race, but I knew that as long as the other ladies kept it close enough, KT would decide when and at what point she wanted to become the rabbit and leave them in the dust. I can't imagine the feeling almost anyone has when she's breathing down their back, or pulls up next to them. It must be like, well, there goes my race...but then, for a truly competitive runner, she'd bring out their best. 2nd place was just off the old record too. She elevates everyone in that respect!
Beyond a certain point she is basically just running a time trial, yeah. She's just that good. Totally agree about lifting the standard though. Fastest middle-distance race I ever ran, I came in dead last and still couldn't believe how quick I'd run - I was just way out of my depth, and got pulled through super quick by a much faster field.
Katelyn Tuohy is a STAR in my book! Reminds me of when I ran the 2 mile races, in early 70's, and won every time. I loved to RUN and she does too!!! You go GIRL! Keep the passion! My Father taught me how to run... he actually ran with James Cunningham, in High school, and taught me what he learned.

The runner that lead from the start, she stepped down and her ankle rolled under coming off a turn. She ran another couple laps, then pulled off. Back it up to 2:44, it's a huge roll under. She runs another minute after.

Never been a running fan . . . but I will never miss any Katelyn races ! A great pleasure to watch her run. She's a beautiful racing machine. She will bring so many people to the sport. When are those Olympics anyway ? Glad she's not distracted by have to compete w/ any men.

In the final declaration, these four student-athletes must be designated as the team; So unless there is another NCAA Team that has a qualification time I don't see how she wouldn't run. Specially since Relays is one of her favorite events.
@@katelyntuohyfans we'll see. And that rule comes from the NCAA, so you can't say it doesn't exist. Her favorite events are Cross Country and relays like dmr. Might, might not run, last time you said that boston wasn't a record attempt, and it was. you just try too hard to know where she is and what she wants. I don't care i follow many athletes, i don't obsess about anyone even if this one is making the news often.
After watching the ACC DMR results, even when kicking a PR in 1600, NC state was only third. The 1200m was again bad, the 1200 was third over all, but the 400 m was dead last losing 8 seconds to the first, it ruined the race for NC state. Tuohy gained almost 10 s against the others yet couldn't win the race because the first two legs were so bad. So Tuohy might not run the DMR in the nationals.
Sam Bush Gained 2 seconds over the other girls, i would have taken Chmiel instead of Shaw who is coming from injury. Obviously Tuohy is on another planet and gained 8-12 seconds over the other two girls. I'm surprised Butler from VT didn't fare better she is usually faster.
Don't forget, the Pack picked up Amaris Tyynismaa last month. She was 9th at the NCAA D1 XC for Alabama. I think NC State would have won with either Kelsey or Maris running anchor. I can't wait for the Penn Relays 4 x 1500. My only question is who does Henes put in with KT, Kelsey and Tyynismaa? Sam Bush? There's also Marlee, Sidney, Nevada, Brooke and Gionna. First, let's see what happens at the ACCs next week. (Next week, right?)
Fortunately they have a lot of choices and Bush, Mareno, Seymour and Starliper are great ones, I would go for Bush who is the most accomplished of them. Marlee is a mystery, if she is healthy she is a viable choice. Whatever the choices, it's a formidable team, probably the favorites to win if they have Tuohy on her best.
That's not it, Chapman and Bush ran faster than the competition, it was only the first one that lagged by almost 5 seconds. When Tuohy took the baton, the lag was one second and a half. And Tuohy was immediately right behind the other girls. The rest is history.
I used to think "Beast Mode" was the highest level of athletic prowess, but I now know that "Tuohy Mode" is six levels above Beast Mode. Saw her win the individual NYS XC title in Plattsburg a few years back- been on her bandwagon ever since. Love watching her compete.
I saw this on IG. Where was it? KT ran a great anchor leg. I think they could have had a stronger, first 1200 M leg and team wise they-NC State- could maybe have challenged for the 10:50 NCAA collegiate record, which would have been cool.

Any one of the other three girls doesn't run, N.C. would not have broken the record. So what's your point? That Tuohy is the best runner on the team? Very few teams have all members of equal ability. What makes a team great is every member doing what they need to do.
That's something you don't know, First of all Bush took 2 seconds from the others so not so out of it, Shaw comes from injury, they could have sent Chmiel instead, or Chmiel to anchor in the absence of Tuohy. Shaw is rusty but will get better. Heartmann was announced, maybe she could have done better than Shaw that seems rusty.

Have to admit N.C. States woman's cross country and track distance roster gets confusing to follow(lol)!! Meaning who has eligibility left because of COVID or previous injuries. Possibly even the 5th or 6th year thing coming into play. Shaw didn't run cross country this year but ran the 1200 here. Kelsey hasn't been on the track in more then a minute!!! They seem to have 3 really strong distance runners with. Tuohy, Chmiel and Bush. Starliper however got 9th in the 2022 outdoor NCAA 5K after missing most of 2022 and all of 2023 so far. Bush got 10th in that NCAA 5k. Kelsey as their 2nd best runner couldn't participate last track season but just got 3rd in the NCAA Cross Country Championship. It's your basic dream team that hasn't even run with their best possible lineup in both sports. At least I think. Not sure though with all the eligibility rules.

That VA Tech anchor killed herself when she tried to hold Tuohy off with three laps to go. She should've stuck to her race and she probably could've finished second.
This indoor track is 200m, while old style indoor tracks might be 220 yards and outdoor tracks, 440 yards. 6 laps = 1200m, 4 laps = 800m, 2 laps = 400m, and 8 laps = 1600m
UCLA seemed to have an equivalent time this past weekend. The other legs must have been blazing fast if Mia’s time was 10 seconds slower. “The Women's Distance Medley of Gwyn George, Kate Jendrezak, Rose Pittman, and Mia Barnett left the David Hemery Invite with a new indoor school record, running a 10:54.49 in the relay.”

UCLA seemed to have an equivalent time this past weekend. The other legs must have been blazing fast if Mia’s time was 10 seconds slower.
