This takes me back to a child. My mom was trying to conserve my father's take-home payroll, so she would cook SUN-THURS. FRIs my father brought home fried shrimp & frog legs, but SATs, my mom would make restaurant-style hamburgers or hotdogs, or corndogs. She ALWAYS made caramelized onions with these meals--the best. My younger sister & I would frown because we wanted to go to the neighborhood restaurants. . . Our frowns only lasted until we inhaled those caramelized onions. Thanks for creating a nostalgic moment. CELESTE, in the ATL 💛
So I made my onions like this and... it was so good T.T At fist the anticipation had me crying. I cried as I cut the onions and for a solid five to ten minutes into grilling them. The thought of trying them in my hot dog, how much it would enhance this otherwise bland dish, was too much for my poor eyes as I kept weeping. I continued following closely with the video, paying attention as the onions started to shrink and gain that wonderful golden edge. The kitchen filled with a fragrant smell and then it occurred to me... I had boiled my hot dogs... it was on instinct! I totally disregarded the three times I saw this video prior to start cooking. I had spoiled the full experience... Or so I thought. I decided I'll just grill them a bit in the pan I used for the onions as shown in the video, cause why not? They can't be worst than how they are. Sure enough they were salvaged! I'll give this recipe a 10/10 cause the grilled onions were superb and I managed to get a great idea to up my hot dog game. I'm definitely doing it again with grilled hot dogs next time XD Thanks so much for sharing this recipe!!
