Becoming what you made fun of is like the oldest character arc ever.
Comedians are all garbage people and its the lowest form of artistic expression. American culture is pretty dumb for glorifying these people so much, Stand up comedy is where dumb people get most of their opinions.
Its the oldest because it literally will never stop ever.
Howard Stern....
He didn’t become what he made fun of… stand-ups survive, thrive or die on essentially charitable donations made (or not made) by a very large group of gracious individuals… he 100% knows everything he’s “earned” as an entertainer was a hand out. That’s why he’s attempting to diversify his bonds, trying to get acting roles or go viral picking fights with small town news channels and selling vodka. He’s also very vocal and open about his hyper-competent father and how he has basically 0% of those skills himself. So I think what we’re really seeing here is a man dealing with the death of his father in a way that’s exceptionally embarrassing and uniquely self-destructive to his career specifically 😂

Bert's dad is a real estate lawyer. Tom's dad is a C-level at Merrill Lynch. They have literally never been poor. I think Christina's parents are light on details, but at minimum escaped Hungary due to issues, so she likely is the closest to knowing struggle of the three
COVID. made him and Kreischer
I mean, you could say they were broke at some point, yknow, leaving the security of dad's money and going to do something "stupid" like comedy, the problem is, they won, a real poor guy would never act like Tom, but a broke guy who got money 100% will, he feels like he always deserved this, and it shows
@@lucasportasioTom was only able to succeed because daddy was paying for his room and board till he was 30. With that kinds asftey net who wouldn't get good.
@lucasportasio that's most likely what's happening. Once I climbed out of minimum wage hell, I was smart enough to live within my means and not do anything dumb, but I had a fat head for like a year. That sort of internal validation is a hell of a drug.
This feeling must be amplified for Tom tenfold, considering he isn't exactly textbook likable or friendly like Bert.
The algorithm fucked that last video
The thing is, Tom Segura was always the way he was. It's just that his audience suddenly realized that the people he was making fun of all along, was them.
Hes always said how much hes hated all his fans ...not in a funny why like Ricky Gervais
Why do rich people allways talk about how its only your mindset thats holding you back from becoming rich? The funny thing is, most of these people didnt even get their wealth through mindset or even hard work, but through sheer luck.
Because it keeps the people they exploit for said wealth into an illusion.
@@Harakengardbingo. Don't save your money and live within your means, it's just your mindset bro!
Or an inheritance.
Yeah, Tom was born rich and has an easy job that prints money. His mindset is, "Spend, spend, spend," and he has the gall to criticize people who are being gentrified out of their family homes.
Because they didn't just wake up rich one day. They put in 40 years into an industry of non stop work most of which had little to no return. You sound like a bitter child who is mad that he isn't being paid the same as someone who has been at the company for 30 years longer than them. You have to work and put in time to get a return.
Tom Segura didn't just rant against poor people, he ranted against anyone with any sense of decency and shame. He just used poor as a slur.
That's actually a really good description. And now Tom and Bert are pretending to be better people while acting all passive aggressive. They're fucked.
@@CRFLAus well look at the two money is only thing they have going for in their lives. Like did you watch Tom's awesome dunk 😂. Or bert saying addictions are so cool. Of course they'd wanna feel superior for having 1 thing about them that people would covet

As Tony Hinchcliffe was doing his jokes at Tom Brady's roast, you could see old Bert mouthing the lines and then smiling like he was happy with himself or something.
"Elitist" is the last thing a Comedian is allowed to be. Relatability (along with some observational wisdom) is a huge part of the Comedian's appeal. They are the everyman with a mic.
The Jester is a Fool at worst and a Trickster at best. But they are never a King.
Well said.
Your right with everything apart from that last bit, Jesters aren't just fools they were the only people who could tell the king the truth using his wit to make them into jokes, kind of like sarcasm, they could be good or bad in what they do so they "could" be a fool but a fool jester wouldnt get very far because if people dont find you funny you probbaly wouldnt be around long, my main thing is for the majority of jesters they would have prided themself on seeing other people think what they say is right and true but also be clever enough to make it funny instead of insulting, Tom doesnt qualify hes just insulting so hes no jester but 100% fool
A lot of that falls on the fans of these comedians.
Daniel Tosh can pull off the snobby condescending comedy routine, but it is definitely a fine line and Tosh is able to laugh at himself.
@@Killthefish always good to see someone give jesters their props, that's some hard work.
Money doesn’t change you, it shows who you truly are. Tom’s own mother cares more about money than her own family so it’s no wonder he turned out the way he did.
What did his mother do?
Toms rich but I’ve never broken a bone and fell like a family guy character by simply jumping.

He leaned way too into it. Like I get these guys live a different lifestyle than the average joe. But when your material just becomes you bragging it leads to the death of your fanbase. Guys like Dave Chappelle and Bill Burr are rich but they arent constantly flexing to their fans. (Well Chappelle does a little bit but he actually uses it for comedy)

Are airline employees poor? Damn I must be really poor. I WISH I worked for American Airlines.
Watching the roast of Tom Brady and seeing both Bert Kreischer and Tom Segura in the line up immediately made me sigh in anticipation of the disappointing performances that were to come. The only silver lining was that they performed together, thus getting them both off the stage that much quicker
Caring about these comedians and getting mad when your “fake internet friends” betray what you thought about them is so lame.
That basketball shot was HILARIOUS....probably one of the funniest things he has done💯😂
Years ago, my wife loved YMH. I just couldn’t get over how hard he laughed when people were seriously hurt. It’s easy to laugh at things that are funny, but he laughed harder at people nearly dying than he laughed at anything. He’s a sociopath. Segura is not a good person. If you so much as disagree with him? He escalates up to doxing people, implying that they’re beneath him, and sics his fans on them to harass them. He thinks his fans are there only serve him and farm money.
He legit is what he said Garth Brooks was

I strongly agree with you! Can we however not make going defcon 4 on someone an expression. It does not make sense in it's original context and only exists because a certain someone claimed he wanted to do this to people of a certain race which he shall not name (as he says but does anyways)
@@KamielDV2 I agree. I’ve been saying defcon 1 as an extreme overreaction since before he even had an album out but I think his recent psychotic break made me forget the entire system. I edited my comment.

ppl finally realizing the Rogan orbiters aren't funny?
Rogan himself is the most dogshit comedian of all time
People realized that years ago.

Mark Normand is funny, dudes quick and had some bangers on kill Tony. Bert, Tom are trash. Ari Shaffir is alright
Theo is a gem and Shane Gillis is very relatable and even occasionally informative but I've been cautious of entertainment people for awhile now, especially ones that come from LA and especially anyone that casually "jokes" about saying or doing awful things. I have a feeling Tom knows this. Probably why he worked so hard over the last year or two, because he sees where he career is heading.

@@Onoesmahpie You're just as bad as ol' Tommy boy with that attitude.
I legit can't understand why someone would feel the need to be so mean. Sure, you don't like it, you don't have to insult them.
Just, learn to have fun, ok?
@@yipflaptheexecutioner6519 My point is that many famous stand up comedians, e.g., Dave Chappelle, Tom Segura, Joe Rogan, etc... are horribly out of touch, egocentric guys who believe themselves to be literal geniuses, and much of their comedy comes from punching down on the average person / disenfranchised people. I genuinely don't understand how anybody can be a fan of these guys.
Also I think the format of stand up comedy is an archaic, incredibly forced one-way exchange where the laughs from the audience are fueled by alcohol and the sunk-cost fallacy, as well as a mob-mentality.
I will say, George Carlin is the one stand up comedian who I think is genuinely funny and skilled, and he always punched up and made incredibly intelligent observations. But I've never seen another stand up comic like him, and honestly what he did was so different from typical stand-up that it feels wrong to call him a stand up comic.
But I still don't think anybody who spends their time listening to these other stand up comics has a very good taste in comedy, or can take a step back and realize what they're being fed.
Of course this is true in general for people who worship godawful untalented celebrities like Kanye West, Drake, etc... . Never met a Kanye West fan who struck me as smart. I just don't understand why people can't think for themselves and find their own unique taste in music, rather than gladly scarfing down the garbage that the large industry force feeds them.
I'm sure there are some talented lesser known stand up comics out there, but my main complaint is against the most popular ones.
Lmao Damn.
Im so poor, I bought tickets to a show and left the seats empty.....
Rich people really be like: "Just change your mindset bro. Why didn't you just buy a house for 30 grand in 1976? Noob."

Curb your enthusiasm works because Larry is acting like we all secretly want to, nobody wants to take a shit on the poor and struggling. Tom is not acting in a way that is aspirational.
He's a comedian, not Malala.
2 different jobs
I always watch Curb and hope Larry uses his wealth in petty ways like I would, the "spite store" is the only time I remember him doing that though.
Also, the WHOLE ENTIRE BIT of Seinfeld, the hook that it brought to TV sitcoms, the thing that made thrive as a show, was that it was a show about BAD PEOPLE. The characters were tactless, and selfish, and petty. When you're watching Seinfeld, you are laughing AT George, not with him. George is a jerk. A self-obsessed, small, out of shape, balding, jerk. That's what makes it funny that his life is always in tatters. Kramer is a punishment sent from god to punish seinfeld for his hubris. Nobody LIKES Kramer, he's the worst neighbor you could possibly imagine.
The show literally ends with them in prison for not helping someone being robbed. They are the Levite who refuses to stop and help a stranger before the good Samaritan comes.
Personally, the reason I like that show is that phony, piece of garbage Larry is always getting thrashed in every episode. He's not relatable, moral, or decent, and he pays the price in humiliation and bitter disappointment through the whole show because of his incessant scheming. There's a comedic justice about the show that I like, but I can't stand him personally, because I don't think he's acting, I think he's just funny enough to realize in a show about him, he has to be the butt of every joke because he's that deplorable.
@@HenryKrinkle358 He's not deplorable, people just keep forcing him into these strict social conventions that make no sense and he never understand why he has to comply. Very relatable

I bought both of Tom's albums on iTunes over a decade ago because him and his wife constantly talked about how poor they were and I wanted to support the show. Crazy how they forgot that they were renting a pool house just a few years ago.
That was part of their charm. There aren't many married couples who were both struggling comedians. They were cute together, and you found yourself rooting for both of them to do well. Then Tom got famous, Christine got preggers, and over time they have become the biggest Richey Rich dickheads on the planet. With Christine, it's an overreaction. She's never seen the kind of money Tom's bringing in. It's every princess's dream, and now she's full-on Karen. Treating people she interacts with in public with disdain barely concealed behind sunglasses. I think we are now seeing the real Tom. The arrogant, Florida frat boy who grew up water skiing and doing blow with rich friends is now rich himself. Actually, that sounds like Bert's story minus the baseball and alcohol abuse.
Tom and his bunch got filthy rich thanks to pandemic. People had nothing to do at home, watched everything on streaming. This is also the time streaming got very big too. Guys at Netflix looked at the data and paid these guys very good for their next shows. Chappelle can't shut up how much Netflix gave him and he sucks the dick of Netflix' president every time he talks about him. Segura started probably doing good before 2019 but then he got really rich.
His last actual comedy special, Sledgehammer, has 7.1 on IMDB. His experimental "one-off" episode of "69 minutes" has 2.2. You have enough gunpowder that is legit, no need to fiddle with facts.
I'm the guy he went off on. I can tell you more about what that was about. Really started as a joke knowing how to push his buttons and it "worked"

I was one of the earliest people sounding the alarm that Tom had become a piece of shit and people were calling me a hater. I did so with no glee. I really like the guy. How many podcasts do we need in this world
I honestly never thought him or Bert were that funny
At least Bert supports comics and is a genuine comedy fan. Bert puts comics on his tours that would be “to dirty” for any mainstream boosts. I respect Bert a lot for that he is just super obnoxious and acts like his daughters

Sorry, the one thing you got wrong is that being a "Vice President" at Merrill Lynch means something. Everyone is a VP at Financial firms, it means nothing. The top titles are Managing Director or Partner, of course. His dad was a regular stock broker guy who made a good living, but he wasn't "filthy rich." Tom's family had to move constantly for his dad's work because he had to get other stock broker gigs. His dad was a salesman, that's it.

this whole way you put it that some jokes are half jokes but at the end just the representation of the comedians beliefs and 'joke' is used as a defense, is so true, and I don't care as long as its actually funny but you can tell when someone abuses this to spread hate but when called out they use the 'I was just joking' excuse
Superb editing brother.
Welcome back Mr. Gum 👑
I hadn't really paid much attention to what he's been up to lately, despite being subscribed to his RUclips channel. He was one of my favorite comedians, however, because most of what I have seen from him was extremely hilarious. But, I was unaware of the recent nonsense that this video is about. It really sucks that he's turned out this way.
Maybe watch Tom and enjoy his content and get the info for yourself. Why would you believe some rando youtuber, instead of looking up the statements for him self?
Tom has always been a funny asshole. That's his whole gimmick. Most of his podcast are him laughing about someone getting hurt. Be he always turns it around at the end and makes it into something self-deprecating.
This dude just removed a bunch of context and laid a steamy pile.
and you ate it like it was candy.
If you can let some random rumor about someone you like change your opinion without any questioning, well, just not a good person.
@@ericbailey6779 Because this guy provided evidence! Did you not watch this video? It was very convincing! He showed actual clips of Tom saying these things. So, why not believe this video? These aren't rumors.
However, I never said I was canceling Tom Segura! I WILL still continue to watch his stuff occasionally and stay subscribed to his RUclips channel. I also won't be subscribed to this channel, either. I noticed another one of his videos is called "Landlords vs. Reddit" with the meme characters of Megachad representing Landlords and the loser Wojak representing Reddit. Anyone who supports landlords is a scumbag I can't support. I can forgive Tom's great dislike (not really hatred) of the poor before I can forgive that.
I don't believe in canceling people unless they did something truly horrifying, never for things they just say. Even then, I still separate the art from the artist.
I still think it's unfortunate that Tom says some things I disagree with, but he's still one of my favorite comedians. That is ALL my original comment meant.
The whole ‘change your mindset’ speech is exactly what he needs to listen to. Some hack comedian, a small subset of people know about, is way too arrogant to an entertainer.
Hi I’m Troy McClure. You may remember me from such motivational videos as “get confident stupid”.
He's a nepo-baby...what do you expect?? He's never had to worry about rent in his life. He always had a safety net so he was able to do what 90% of us never would--take a chance on our crazy dreams.
lolwut
That clip of Andrew tate saying "YOUR FUCKING POOR!" Always gets me giggling, lol.
The people who made this video clearly don't enjoy sparkling water...
damn I didnt realize I wasnt his fan anymore.
I appreciated the Rekieta reference.
Tom grew up the son of a lawyer. He has been bourgeoisie for his entire life.
