As someone who lives on a small, remote island in the middle of the pacific: Avid internet users are the LAST people who should want to live on an island. It isn't fun and games. It's actually hell. Some of the even more remote islands lack concrete and steel infrastructure and are forced to chain themselves to trees to not be swept away by typhoons. Importing has caused prices to be absolutely bonkers. We can't really produce any of our own goods. So yeah: you do NOT want to live on an island. It isn't all pina coladas and paradise. It's hot, hard work and very limited resources. Especially internet and electricity.

They found a few pens, including one in Scotland that was in the running

Another thing about the Pitcairn Islands is that there is only one small boat that visits the islands and it only comes around four times a year bringing no more than 12 visitors at a time.
The Pitcairn Islanders love visitors as they love showing them their quiet little island and sharing it with them while of course tourists bring in money.
But Pitcairn Island belongs to the Islanders and they want to keep it that way and keep it nice and quiet so once the hair returns you can’t stay, you have to get on board and be on your way
You can only stay longer if you get special permission from the island’s government and that’s usually only granted for family members or something like that
So no, you can’t just flood Pitcairn island with a bunch of sweat Redditors and take over the place
